<p>Roger is saved at 13 and studies chemistry, planning to teach in high school. Instead he’s recruited to teach at a Bible college where he meets Naomi. He’s drafted into the army where he works as a chemist, hears a Wycliffe call to teach the Bible in the Philippines and submits to God. He and Naomi apply to be missionaries. He’s accepted, she’s rejected. They marry anyway and both are approved. They go to Manila where their first son is born. The first part ends as they arrive in Banaue.</p>

<p>David does poorly at college until he meets Janice, who prays with and encourages him. They marry and he goes to seminary at Princeton. After graduation he is ordained as an Army chaplain. He does well through various Army posts, even serving as an airborne chaplain. He witnesses to his brother and dying father, but neither is receptive. David rises in rank, assigned to the Pentagon during 9-11. He becomes Chief of Chaplains and leads his brother to Christ. Now retired.</p>

<p>One of twelve children, David’s father sets a proud example of black fighters in World War I. But David doesn’t do well in school and drops out to join the army, and he learned to drink with other soldiers in bars. He becomes paratrooper like his brother and they carouse. When his brother is discharged, David suffers turmoil. He talks with the chaplain, receives Christ and then baits Satan. He goes to jail, but the chaplain restores him and David goes on to give his testimony and study the Bible. The first part ends as he leaves the Army to go to college, called by God to the ministry.</p>

<p>George is convicted at age seven, but no one tells him how to be saved. He grows up depending on his own efforts. In college he meets Laura and they fall in love. He is a senior in Naval ROTC when Pearl Harbor comes. He and Laura marry and he goes to war. When he returns, his father dies and he works the family farm. Then he accidentally runs over his 7-year-old son who dies, and George is devastated. He goes to his mother who talks about Job and George surrenders to Christ. God leads him into children’s ministry, and he founds the Mailbox Club for children, now all over the world.</p>

<p>Chris goes to college but joins a fraternity where he drinks and gets into immoral behavior. For five years he fails to go to church and drifts away from God. He is miserable but doesn’t know why even though he has a good job and home. He meets Jennifer and they live together. His mother keeps telling him to go to church. Finally, he goes, is convicted and recommits his life to Christ. Jenn is saved and they marry. Chris witnesses to his dad who refuses to pray, but repents later with a pastor. Chris goes to Bible college and is preparing to pioneer a church in Boston.</p>

<p>Beverly’s parents are drunks who don’t want her when she’s born unexpectedly and prematurely with cerebral palsy. Her grandmother tells her about Jesus. Her drunken father beats her and her brothers abuse her also. Strangers violate her and leave her for dead. Sent to a girl’s home, she runs away and plans suicide until God speaks to her heart. A rescue mission counselor takes her in and teaches her about God. Beverly receives Christ, then falls in love with John who stands by her even when she goes to a state mental hospital. They marry and she witnesses to her family.</p>

<p>Charles grows up on a farm in Georgia. At 13 he and some friends break into places and end up in jail. His probation officer helps him. Also at 13 he and friends form a band. His dad dies of a brain tumor when Charles is 15. One of the boys gets saved and drops out of the band. Charles is bitter but goes to a Bible study, then prays for salvation at 18. He graduates, trains to be a medical technician in Atlanta, plays in a bar then quits the school—called to ministry. Married and still a pastor, he continues to write gospel songs and serve the Lord in missions.</p>

<p>After his salvation, Rob throws away the alcohol and drugs, and his wife Gail is enraged. She comes and goes, taking and leaving their daughter, then gets pregnant by someone else, but he accepts and loves the 2nd daughter. Their marriage ends when she slashes his clothes and stabs him. She takes everything. He tries to understand but turns from the faith after the divorce. Finally, he repents and gets custody of the girls, meets “Rose” and they marry. He witnesses to his dad before his dad dies. Rob is still faithful.</p>

<p>Disillusioned with religion, Steve becomes an atheist. He enjoys academic success and moves to Alaska for adventures. Returns home with wife, Nancy, and they have a daughter. After Nancy is saved, he decides to leave but her pastor intrigues him with unusual faith acts, so his plans change. They travel to a retreat to pursue the validity of another one of Nancy’s dreams about an earthquake. Steve drives a pastor to a city near the retreat. On the way, the pastor shares the gospel with him throughout the four-hour trip. Steve resists. But at the retreat he prays for salvation, an insincere prayer. On the third day he yields to Christ, an earthquake occurs in his heart. Served many years as layman; now in ministry.</p>

<p>An only child, Nancy’s dad commits suicide months after she marries Steve. They are in Alaska as teachers. She has stomach pains and fears death, especially after she has several dreams. Desperately, she prays, and feels that God took away the pain. Wanting to learn God’s name, Nancy studies all the religions, but none of them have a God who talks to His people. A woman suggests she read the Psalms. She discovers the Jewish God who talks to His people. In another dream her life is in danger, and she calls the name of every god she can remember to save her. When she calls out to Jesus, she wakes up. Thereafter, she comes to repentance and faith. The first part ends as Steve prepares to leave because of her love for Jesus.</p>

<p>Penny is born prematurely but survives only to suffer double pneumonia at six. The family suffers through the Depression, but Penny goes to Bible college where she meets George. They marry, graduate and go into ministry. Four children are born, but the youngest is murdered at 19. After George dies in 1989, Penny serves with missionaries in Mexico. James Wilkins is a guest speaker at a meeting, and she prays that he would desire marriage to her one day. She nearly dies in a car accident with her sister but survives and continues to pray for James. They marry in 1996, and now they serve the Lord together.</p>

<p>Jim’s father is crippled in an accident at work, and his overwrought mother tries to abort her pregnancy: James. Weeks prior to the accident, his 14-year-old aunt is abused by three men, who are shot and killed by the girl’s brother. Jim’s grandmother prays and Jim is born. The family struggles in poverty until World War II. Jim grows up, stubborn and difficult. He becomes a sports nut. His dad reads the Bible but won’t go to church. His brothers return from the war. The first part ends when Jim’s favorite brother is killed in an accident and he is left wondering what really happened to his brother in death.</p>

<p>His parents divorce when James is five and he never sees his father again. Feeling that his mother has rejected him, he turns to drugs and gangs. His mother takes him to a Curandero, a witch doctor but James gets addicted to heroin, burglarizing houses to support his habit. Violence reigns. His mother keeps him out of prison when he’s 17, but after more crimes, James goes to prison at 21. During his second term, he read the Bible to impress the parole board but discovers the love of God and is saved as the first part ends.</p>

<p>Dion's parents’ divorce and his mother takes him to Canada, her homeland. A drunk named Joe moves in and belittles and bullies Dion, who has learned to smoke pot with cousins. Caught shoplifting at 14, Dion is kicked out of his mom’s home at 16. He can’t keep jobs because of his drug use. He’s arrested for armed robbery and is sentenced to a year in prison, then loses his girlfriend. A neighbor gets him to church and Dion prays for salvation at home. He backslides badly because he doesn’t go to church and grow in faith. After seven years the prodigal son returns. Now married and in ministry.</p>

<p>Michael goes to a Christian boarding school where he doesn’t study hard and misbehaves. When he is 24 he marries Pushpa who loves the Lord and prays for Michael, especially after he goes into politics, leading a band of fierce bodyguards. Factional fighting leads to bloodshed and murder and jail for a year. After 14 years of fighting, Michael cannot sleep and is suicidal. His wife takes him to a pastor who leads him to Christ. Now in ministry.</p>

<p>Tom is arrested for counterfeiting money and his wife and sons bear the brunt of the shame. Hit-men are hired to kill him because he knows too much. He decides to work with federal agents and goes into the Witness Protection Program, exposing the mob. A bomb explodes before one trial but Tom continues to testify against the underworld, bringing 36 men to justice. Tom is given leniency for his help. His sons go into ministry and persuade Tom to tell his story to help others.</p>

<p>Tom learns the art of salesmanship as a youth helping his father at auctions; but he also learns to drink and gamble. He quits high school to join the Navy in World War II, but returns to finish. He joins the Air Force during the Korean War, meets Bobbi and they marry. A salesman, he is gone a lot and falls in with shady characters. They rig poker games and Tom is nearly killed several times. Then he starts counterfeiting money. Meanwhile, his wife and sons are saved. The first part ends when Tom prays for salvation.</p>

<p>As a boy, Chris dreams about a grave swallowing him and fears death. His dad takes him to the Catholic church, but he doesn’t understand. Prideful, he doesn’t make friends easily and is accepted by the wrong crowd who expose him to rock music, video games and pornography. His parents divorce. Then a young man at work tells him the gospel and he prays for salvation. He witnesses to his dad, who is saved and his mum who rejects the gospel. After graduating from Bible college, he is now in ministry.</p>

<p>Paul grows up without his father but around a drunken uncle. As a child he hears a preacher talk about hell and is terrified. Still, he drinks and steals and ends up in juvenile prison, escapes and goes to maximum juvenile lock up. He drops out of school in the 7th grade, works and drinks; loses his license to a DUI. He meets Cordie and they marry, but he can’t quit drinking. He keeps seeing a Bible verse in granite on a church and finally calls on the name of Lord and is saved. Now a pastor in Texas.</p>

<p>Gary’s parents divorce when Gary is five. He goes to many different school but excels. Becomes a leader under the encouragement of his high school sweetheart. They go to college and she dumps him, so he joins the Army Special Forces and becomes a medic with the Green Berets. He gets drunk and piles up so many charges that he re-enlists for Vietnam. He loves the Montagnard people, the peace and purpose. The first part ends after a huge battle when he is injured three times but keeps helping others, which will earn him the Medal of Honor.</p>

<p>Coming from a church that was weak on Biblical doctrine, Ginger has no guidance. She drinks, uses drugs and sleeps around. She marries a drunk and she’s unfaithful, takes a job as a stripper and then works as a “dancer” in a men’s club. She divorces, meets Gary and seduces him into drug use. He becomes a dealer. Her best friend, another dancer, is murdered and Ginger quits the clubs and hard drugs. She reads the Bible. Gary is arrested, rededicates his life to Christ in prison and they marry when he’s released.</p>

<p>Jeff is the youngest of six, and his mom and dad neglect and abuse him as a child. Poor, hungry and beaten, he goes to school feeling worthless. He works in his dad’s auto repair shop at 14, builds a fast car that helps his self-image. After high school his parents secretly divorce and sell the house. His mom writes a letter rejecting Jeff. He becomes a drunk, wrecks many cars and motorcycles, even hits a train but survives. Finally, he hears a radio preacher and is saved. He marries Jackie. Before his father dies, Jeff and he are reconciled.</p>

<p>Donna’s dad suffers seizures, so her mom takes her to California, then leaves her with strangers while she works. Donna is neglected and abused in one home after another. At 15 she finally lives with her mom who drinks. Donna meets her dad who takes her to church where she is saved. She marries Allen and they have two sons. When her mother needs help after having a seizure, Donna overcomes retaliatory feelings and looks after her mother and an aunt. Both are saved before dying, and her mother witnesses in her nursing home.</p>

<p>David is arrested for stabbing his brother who survives and even goes to court on David’s behalf. He quits drinking but after six months resumes, worse than ever. His marriage threatened, he quits drinking again but still sells drugs. Then he hears a radio preacher and goes to church. While reading a book by the radio preacher, he understands Christ’s sacrifice and is born again. He witnesses to his brother who goes to a Christian rehab where he is saved. Then his brother dies of cancer. Still faithful, David goes to college.</p>

<p>Bill and Barb marry when she is only 14 and he is 16. Bill decides to live as he pleases and get saved when he is old. When his father can no longer farm, they assume responsibility for the family dairy farm. An accident nearly kills Bill. Hospitalized for three months, he surrenders to Christ. The couple does well in farming afterward until government interference drives them into bankruptcy, after which Barb has a nervous breakdown. They overcome with prayer and Bible study.</p>

<p>Byron’s assertive father stirs up rebellion in the son. Wearing braces for the first six years of his life due to bow-legs, Byron walks to Sunday school and is beaten for not telling his parents. He learns to smoke and drink by age ten; commits vandalism and nearly dies. He runs away and his dad arranges to have him arrested. Byron quits school at 16 and his dad sets him up in business. Byron is successful, but alcohol consumes him. The first part ends with his dad’s death and Byron’s addiction having led to heartache for his family.</p>

<p>Daughter, Gann, chooses to go to South Africa with her parents and they arrive by Greek freighter. Their co-workers, however, are liberal and the Burkes leave the mission after 9 months to serve on their own, forming Open Bible Ministries. The government doesn’t renew their visa, so they go home but continue to raise support, starting new churches and schools. When they return to S. Africa they face corruption, losing two schools; also rebellion from students. They flee Lesotho and start a school in Fouriesburg. Their story concludes as a former Bible school convert calls, still serving the Lord.</p>

<p>The associate warden John works with in prison is a Messianic Jew who teaches John about the roots of Judaism in Christianity. He also tutors him for a G.E.D. As an inmate John is allowed to go to Bible college. When released, he and Donna go into ministry, speaking at prisons across the country. He asks forgiveness from his family. He brings his dad to live with them, speaking at his dad’s funeral. After training, he and Donna are now in Jewish evangelism.</p>

<p>Although his parents take him to church and read Bible stories to him, Tom has religion but doesn’t know Christ as he matures. Smart and responsible, he studies architecture, meets and marries Judy, who becomes a teacher. For eight years they live near her family. Her father’s death of brain cancer and their following move to Georgia, away from her mother, leave her feeling trapped. Then his partnership dissolves. They end up divorced and she shoots herself. The first part ends with Tom’s grief and guilt.</p>

<p>Fearful in the Great War, Joe promises God that he will become a minister. Unsaved, he goes through seminary. As a pastor he meets Nelda and they marry. Her mother knows Joe isn’t saved and her comments annoy him. When an unsaved parishioner dies, pleading for peace with God, Joe doesn’t have the answer and quits the ministry. He goes to New York, talks with theologians. One of them sends him to the Bowery rescue mission. Joe is offended by the sermon but ultimately goes forward and is saved.</p>

<p>The oldest of nine children, Clint and his family move from Arizona to Chicago when he’s twelve. There he’s invited to Sunday school and professes faith in Christ at fourteen. He goes to Bible classes and gives his testimony on street corners. At 17 he goes to Albuquerque to work for the railroad, working Sundays. He backslides, rides the rails, then falls in with a robber. They buy guns and commit highway robbery for 18 months. They’re caught, and in jail churches minister, but he resists. He’s sentenced to San Quentin where he finally surrenders to Christ. He serves God in jails and rescue missions.</p>

<p>Charles witnesses to his old buddies who ridicule him. Pat gives him a job in his body shop. Charles learns to prioritize and trust God as he serves in the church. He witnesses to a co-worker, but Don rejects the gospel. Charles and a mentor witness to an alcoholic friend, who also rejects Christ. The man dies that night of a heart attack and Charles feels compelled to preach on street corners. Charles goes to his former employer and confesses thefts that they forgive. He goes to Bible college, becomes a preacher. Don is saved and becomes a preacher.</p>

<p>Charles goes to church with his granny but rebels at 14 and quits as he sees hypocrisy in people. He starts drinking with friends, steals, uses marijuana and drag races. He meets Jennie and they marry three months later, then he resumes his old life, refusing to go to church with her. A biker comes into his workplace and invites him to church. That day Charles is fired for insubordination, leading to a fight with Jennie. He promises to go to church, and the next day they do. There he is led to Christ, ending the first part.</p>

<p>At birth Robert is adopted into a Jewish family and raised as an only child. Spoiled by his mother, he is rebellious and self-centered. He graduates without motivation and marries, but both are immature. They have three sons, but he floats from one job to another, then begins smoking marijuana. After his mother dies, he and his wife divorce. As a traveling salesman, lonely and disconnected, he asks God for a woman to talk to. He meets Delilah, and she invites him to church where he prays for salvation. They marry and he begins to change, becoming a Messianic Jew and meeting his birth mother.</p>

<p>Virginia’s mother dies, charging the ten-year-old to keep the six siblings together. Her dad abuses and neglects them. The next five years Virginia perseveres, feeding and watching over the family. Her dad is gone and doesn’t bring food or clothing. Their Sunday school teacher comes and shares the gospel. When she’s 12 and her brother Billy is 14, they receive Christ. Then Billy is killed in an accident. Virginia meets Lewis and they marry when she’s almost sixteen. She fulfills her mother’s charge, raising the children, praying for her dad. He repents at age 79 and lives with them till he dies.</p>

<p>A Jew, born in Czechoslovakia, Tom’s parents put him on the train to England to escape Hitler’s persecution. He hears the gospel and trusts Christ at age 9. His family dies during the war. He is called to missions at age 16, goes to nurses training and then Bible college in Glasgow. The first part ends as he and his foster “Uncle Jimmie” pray together.</p>

<p>Jimmy grows up without a dad and starts smoking pot at 12 even though his mother is a police officer and they go to church. He marries Patty although her dad opposes the match. Jimmy promises to straighten up at 30 but doesn’t. A drug dealer, he becomes addicted to Oxycontin, then crack cocaine. His addiction leads him to steal from his wife, his mother and daughter. He resists conviction several times. Finally, he steals his wife’s 401K check and disappears for a week. She finds him. At home he wrestles with the devil but finally surrenders to Christ. Now in Bible college and ministry.</p>

<p>Chuck joins the navy at 17, hears and rejects the gospel during boot training. Later he says “yes” to Jesus but not with his heart. He marries 15-year-old Nell when he’s 20. They party and have a son, Larry, but alcohol nearly drives them apart. When the navy sends him to Iceland, she wants a divorce. He persuades her to try again but the marriage founders. A sailor urges Chuck to come to Bible study and he eventually prays for salvation. Nell comes at Christmas but they fight, and he sequesters the boy. She goes back to Texas and he prays for two years. Finally, she returns, hears him preach and professes faith in Christ. The marriage is restored.</p>

<p>Mamie’s mother gives her to a stranger who takes her to France and teaches her to deal cards, smoke and drink. She marries at fifteen, has a daughter, Sonia. Her husband dies and Mamie raises Sonia by dancing in cabarets. She becomes a drug addict, enduring the Nazis. Her daughter dies, further embittering Mamie. When the war ends she goes to Canada where she contracts polio and is crippled. A woman invites her to church, and she goes to mock but is saved. She becomes a missionary to the bayou of Louisiana.</p>

<p>Kathy’s bitterness toward her busy father causes many problems: bulimia, rebellion, drinking and a bad attitude. She meets Kip in high school and they go off to college together, but she cannot be faithful. Her sin leads to depression and she has several accidents, but she finishes nursing school. She and Kip marry but her bulimia returns after her first baby is born. She goes to a clinic, overcomes bulimia and meets Christians in exercise class. She learns about Jesus, goes to Bible study and receives Christ. But she still takes anti-depressants for 14 years. After a crisis when she’s diagnoses with psychosis, she and Kip go to a seminar where she learns to trust in the Lord and she throws away her meds.</p>

<p>His dad abandons the family when Johnny is 14. At 17 Johnny takes a job as professional golfer and chooses to work on Sunday rather than go to church. His mother pleads with him to no avail. He begins drinking and drinks too much. He marries Dorothy and they build a country club. When World War II comes, he converts the club into an officer’s club. He’s drafted but the army has him teach golf rather than go overseas. He continues drinking to excess, tries rehab, spurns his mother’s prayers and pleading. Dottie stays with him. The first part ends when he’s drunk and crashes his car into a truck.</p>

<p>When John is six his father goes insane and tries to kill the family. At seventeen John goes to Vienna to become a waiter. A pastor in Munich sends him to a Christian Waiters’ Home in Paris. There he sees a plaque: Where will you spend eternity. He visits his mother before going to London, where Christian waiters’ testimonies help him come to Christ. More adventures follow as a waiter at sea before he comes to the U.S. He witnesses to guests and at PGM.</p>

<p>Bill’s family in Belfast, Ireland is poor but hard working. Bill’s father and he both gamble pocket money. They don’t go to church, but his mother takes him to Sunday evening services at a local mission. At school he learns to memorize scripture daily. Working at fourteen, he begins stealing money from his boss. Then a friend is saved at the mission and proselytizes Bill. He goes to a prayer meeting and gives his life to Christ. He confesses his theft and begins preaching at fifteen. A benefactor at the mission sends him to Bible school in Glasgow. The first part ends as Bill prepares to go to India as a missionary.</p>

<p>Billy’s parents work, leaving their children in turmoil and without God. He cries out to God at 13 but doesn’t get an answer, so he turns to drugs and alcohol. He gives his soul to Satan at 17, then tries suicide. He graduates but a friend’s accidental death makes him wonder what will happen when he dies. He goes to California with his brother, works, tries a relationship, then worldly things, then New Age to fill the emptiness. A coworker tells him about Jesus. When Billy begins seeing a dark apparition, he cries out to God to save him. He goes to Bible college and becomes a pastor. Still in ministry.</p>

<p>As an only child, Laura grows up privileged but without God. At 14 she wins first place in a country music TV competition. She meets Rusty, also a musician, and they marry when she’s 17. They go to Nashville, hoping for success but fail. They have two sons, then he leaves her for another woman. She fights the divorce, loses after three years and lives in denial. For the next nine years she serves the Lord while his mother and she pray for reconciliation. Finally, she accepts her situation, meets Don, a musician, and they marry. Both minister in music & still married after 30 years.</p>

<p>2984 Bill Shade Classic – Part 2: (Amputee, Inner-City Missions) After hearing a policeman describe youth crime, Bill launches an inner-city ministry in York. God provides people and resources to help him take hundreds of poor gang members to camp where they fight. Asked to preach, Bill begins sobbing and they listen and respond. God helps him buy buildings as centers for youth. Riding his motorcycle, Bill is hit by a car and his leg amputated. A nurse saves his life. He goes through a time of darkness as his ministry shrinks but at the end he has been chosen director of a world-wide ministry.</p>

<p>Bill grows up an only child. His mother reads him Bible stories and the family goes to church. At church camp when he’s 13, Bill asks Jesus to save him, but he later denies being a Christian. His parents encourage him to join a social club where he learns to smoke, drink and play poker. After his dad is saved, Bill rebels. His smoking ruins his health and he is hospitalized with rheumatic fever. Dying, he asks God to let him lead one person to Christ. He lives and goes to camp where he leads a young man to faith. He goes to Bible school where he meets and marries Ruby. They serve in Kentucky. The first part ends as a Supreme Court decision forces them to leave their ministry.</p>

<p>Harold’s aunt and grandmother look after him and his siblings when his dad is gone and his mother works during World War II. They never go to church, but his grandmother has a picture about Jesus knocking on the door of the heart. His father buys a farm when he returns from the war and Harold, as the oldest, does much of the work. Being a daydreamer in school and having failed several grades, Harold quits school at age sixteen without being able to read. He wants to know God, though, and goes to a church service where he is saved. But he is unable to read the Gospel of John given him.</p>

<p>John’s father goes to prison and he grows up never having his dad hug him or say, “I love you.” His grandmother reads him the Psalms, but disillusionment leads him to rebel. He drinks, smokes and runs away at 13, returning to finish two years of high school. At 19 he marries a girl with a baby and they binge drink for several years. When her drunken relative threatens to shoot John, he leaves and gets a divorce two years later. Then he meets Pat, a woman with three children. They marry. A co-worker witnesses to John and he takes the children to church. One day he collapses unexpectedly and goes to the hospital where his co-worker’s pastor comes and leads him to Christ. He wants to be a pastor but his divorce precludes that option.</p>

<p>After his salvation Eric smokes pot and struggles with demonic oppression until he repents. He goes to a Christian leadership training ranch in Kansas where he learns humility and trust in the Lord after some conflict with students. Then he goes to Wichita as an urban missionary. He dates Andrea but both waffle about commitment, she as a victim of incest, he because of his gang background and stuttering. They marry but his job losses create marital discord. They separate and he tries counseling. After two years they reconcile and adopt two babies. His stepfather calls to ask forgiveness</p>
