S2 Ep 124124. How Do I Keep Peace When Life is Hard?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! I don’t think it comes as a surprise to anyone of you when I say that this world is crazy! And on top of that, there is a real enemy out there who wants nothing more than to steal our joy and our peace from us, to kill, and to destroy everything that we have. How do we keep our peace when life is hard. How do we walk through this life and win when we have an enemy who is out to get us? We’re all going to face challenging circumstances in life. Many of us have heard about the story of the wise man who built his house on the rock and the foolish man who built his house on the sand. Storms came to both of their houses, but it was the wise man’s house that was still standing after the storm had passed. Storms come to everybody’s house, but it’s what we do in the midst of those storms that really make a difference. Can we actually keep peace when life is hard? The answer is, yes! We can! But how? S2 Ep 123123. AMA: How Do I Share Jesus without Being Pushy?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! On this week’s Ask Me Anything Episode, we are answering Chloe’s and Danika’s questions. Chloes says, “I have a friend who is not sure what to believe. I want to persuade them to turn to God but I’m not really sure how to do it without sounding like I'm forcing them. Danika says, “I have a question… I know this girl that is an atheist and she brought up a situation that made her question if the Lord is real. My question it was I sent to help her to turn to the Lord? And if so, how do I help her without pushing her?" Know that no two people are the same, every conversation is going to look different and that’s okay! With what we’re going to talk about today, hopefully, you will be ready to crush those comfort zones and step into your God-given purpose as you share the Good News of Jesus with those around you. Okay, so how do you even have a conversation with someone, especially a friend or a family member, to know if they are even open to hearing the Good News. Again, no two people are the same—no two conversations are the same. Jesus healed some, He taught others, and to some gave a Word of Knowledge. 2 Types of Witnessing (Sharing Jesus) Confrontational-(I don’t suggest this with your friends or family members.) This is really for people who you see once, and you will most likely never see them again. For example, I’m going to Jamaica in a couple weeks to be sharing the Good News of Jesus with Jamaicans. This is the approach we will be using because chances are we will never see these people gain. Relational. You want to build a relationship with these people before you jump in to asking them about Jesus. This approach is all about making a connection with them. You connect with them, you listen to them, you care about them, you earn their trust. Wait a while before you bring up the topic of Jesus. Get to know them by asking questions. Never underestimate the power of conversations! CARE: Connect, Ask Questions, Relate, Encourage Connect with them. "Hey, how are you doing?" and stop and really listen to how they are doing! Ask questions-a lot of questions to get to know them better. Relate to them where you can. Encourage them. When you find a pain point, ask them if you can pray for them or share your story with them! S2 Ep 122122. I’m Doubting & Questioning My Faith, What Do I Do?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Lately, I have had a lot of questions from you amazing ladies talking about your faith, and how doubts creep in or you find yourself questioning your faith and it scares you. So, let’s ask these questions, “is it a sin to question your faith? What do you do if doubts start to creep in and you ask yourself questions like, “Does God really exist?” “Is the Bible really true?” Does that mean you’re walking away from God. Does that mean that God is mad at you and that you are no longer a Christian? If this is you, let me put your fears to rest…no it is not a sin to question your faith. No it does not mean that you are walking away from God and no it doesn’t mean you are no longer a Christian. God is not mad at you, because of this, either! Did you know that questioning your faith can actually be a part of your growth journey as a Christian? Why do we have those doubts try to creep in from time to time? We live in a world that is anti-God, anti-Bible, anti-Truth and anti-Jesus. We are taught in school that science is not compatible with the Bible. Negative circumstances either we have faced or someone we know has faced. Salvation is super easy to receive. We feel like we need to work for, earn or deserve it. What do we do with questions and doubt? Ask God Search the Bible Talk to someone who has a strong walk with God that can help you with the questions that you have. S2 Ep 120120. AMA: How Do I Choose Joy and Peace When it Feels So Far Away? Part 2

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! We are on part 2 of answering Isy’s question. Isy said, “I’m a Christian and I love God, but I struggle with both depression and anxiety, and I feel sad and tired a lot of the time, I desperately want to keep looking to the Lord and receiving His joy and peace, but it just feels so hard to be joyful when I just feel so down and anxious. Do you have any tips on how I can keep on choosing God’s joy and peace even when it feels so far away?” Ladies, if you are feeling like Isy, I want you to know that you aren’t alone and I also want you to know that there is hope. I remember being in a place similar to this. I struggled so much with anxiety and depression…and honestly loneliness and I didn’t know how to break free. I would see these people walking around with smiles on their faces like they didn’t have a care in the world and I couldn’t understand and didn’t even know if it was possible to ever get to that place, but I did. What I’m sharing in this series are the steps to how I went from struggling with depression and anxiety to living a life of joy. Is everything perfect…no, not at all, but I know that God is on my side and that He’s fighting my battles for me…and the same is true for you! In Isaiah 41:10, God is saying to you, “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Last week, we began talking about 6 things we can do to overcome anything the enemy tries to throw at us. Briefly, I’ll summarize what we talked about, but if you haven’t listened to part 1 of this series, I encourage you to go back and listen! S2 Ep 119119. AMA: How Do I Choose Joy and Peace When it Feels So Far Away?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Isy says, “I’m a Christian and I love God, but I struggle with both depression and anxiety, and I feel sad and tired a lot of the time, I desperately want to keep looking to the Lord and receiving His joy and peace, but it just feels so hard to be joyful when I just feel so down and anxious. Do you have any tips on how I can keep on choosing God’s joy and peace even when it feels so far away?” First, I want to say that I hate that you’re walking through this. I truly believe that the enemy is coming after teens today more than he has ever before, but it’s because you all have inside of you the power of God to shake this world in a positive way. God wants to use you to make an impact bigger than ever before. People need what you have and if they enemy can stop you, then he wins. We aren’t going to let that happen. That’s honestly my heart behind starting the UncommonTEEN Podcast. My heart is that you are so strong in your walk with God that the enemy and this world can’t shake you. And Isy, I don’t want you to feel alone, because so many of the Christian teen girls I talk to, struggle with this same thing. But the good news is, there is hope. You can overcome! Just as Psalm 118:6 says, with God on your side, you don’t have to fear! Today, we’re going to start talking about 6 things you can do to overcome whatever the enemy is throwing at you. We’ll only get through 3 today and will do the last 3 next week. I have seen so many teens girls that I coach take these steps and I have watched how God has transformed their lives. One girl who is currently going through my coaching program right now was in a really dark place and in just a few short weeks, she is now walking around with the joy of the Lord as her strength. It is so fun to watch, and I know God can and will do the same for you! I can’t take credit for any of this, I’m just so thankful God allows me to be a part of your journey! S2 Ep 118118: AMA-Is There A Way to Stand Up to Bullies that Stays True to the Bible?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Leah says, “There's a girl in my grade, we'll call her Jane. Jane is the "queen bee" of our grade. She has the nicest clothes (her parents are very rich) and she is VERY popular because she's dating a popular boy as well. She's also a bully. She'll bully kids who are very shy, and a girl has left the school because of her. Also, recently our grade voted for prefects (class leaders), and I was made a perfect. Jane was not. She was very disappointed, but now she keeps interfering with everything we are doing. We're organizing an event this coming week, and she's always involved, as well as ordering me around. I don't have a strong personality, is there any way that I can stand up to her that stays true to the scriptures?” To answer this question or really any other question that has to do with bullying, let’s first answer the question what is bullying and what is not bullying. Bullying is an act that causes harm to someone else that is intentional and repetitive. This can be physical, which includes hitting someone, pushing them, or even damaging their property. Bullying can be verbal, such as name calling, or insulting or teasing someone in a way that’s meant to hurt them. It can also be social, such as trying to manipulate someone, spread rumors about them, or excluding them on purpose. And bullying can be cyber, which is using online platforms to threaten or humiliate others. Bullying again is not a one-time act, it’s repetitive. It is not an argument between two people. It’s not a friend or someone else who is having a bad day, and they say or do something mean. Bullies tend to go after people who they perceive are weaker than they are. They feel like it gives them power. Support the show Want a little extra sparkle this month? ✨ Grab your December Glow Mail and soak in God's Radiant Love for you! S2 Ep 117117. AMA: How do we stop comparing ourselves to “pretty girls “or “popular girls?”

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! I used to be the queen of comparison. Every single time I would walk into a room, the first thing I would do is search out who was in the room. I was not from a family who had a lot of money. We got new clothes once a year and that was right before school started, and they weren’t from the mall. They were the cheapest clothes that we could buy. So, as you can probably tell, they weren’t the nicest clothes, or the newest trends and I hated it. I remember one time, while in middle school, staying the night at my grandma’s house on a school night. I didn’t go home before coming to her house, so I didn’t have any clothes to wear to school the next day…and there was no way that I was going to where the same clothes two days in a row, even if I did wash them. My grandma had some extra clothes laying around her house, but the only thing that would fit me was a skirt. This skirt was long and had pink flowers. At that time, long skirts were not fashionable; skirts that were down to your knees were. I had a black shirt that I wore the day before, so I went ahead and wore that again with this skirt. Only, I wasn’t going to go out of the house looking like what I had thought at the time of as an old lady. Ha-ha…so, what I did was I rolled up the waste of this skirt until it was knee length. Do you know how much of a bulge I had at my waste from the extra fabric? Oh, my goodness! I was so embarrassed. I know, I know. Please forgive me, I was in middle school at the time…what did I know? I had a problem with always comparing myself to others, but this day, I really had a problem comparing myself to everyone around me. As a result of constantly comparing myself to everyone around me, I fell into what I like to call the comparison trap, and because I got stuck in this comparison trap, eventually I compromised who I was so much that I completely lost who I was as a person. Have you have done that? Have you ever walked into a room, saw another girl or group of girls and began to compare yourself with them? I’m not talking about from a “Who does she think she is” mentality or an , “I’m better than you” mentality, but from an “I wish I was ____ like her?” I wish I was thin like her. I wish I was beautiful like her. I wish I was as trendy as her. I wish my hair was as beautiful as hers. I wish my face was as clear as hers. I wish I had friends like her.” If this answer is yes, you’re not alone! S2 Ep 115115. Is Jesus Really the Only Way to Heaven?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! In this week's episode, we're answering the questions, "Is Jesus the Only Way to Get to Heaven?" and "If someone has never heard about Jesus, so they haven't had the chance to accept or reject Him, dies, will they go to heaven?" A survey was done recently among Americans about what they believe about heaven. In this survey, these people were asked: Do you believe in Heaven? 73% said yes. Do you believe you are going to heaven? 60% said yes. How does someone get to heaven? 50% said that if you are generally good or you do enough good for others, you will earn a place in heaven. 40% said that you don't have to believe in God to go to heaven. On top of this survey, a couple years ago a pastor at a church in New York told his congregation that the belief that anyone who doesn’t believe in Jesus is going to hell is insanity. He then went on to say that’s not even what Jesus believed. He then went on to say that many people take many paths to get to God. But is what this New York pastor saying true? The short answer, no. He is deceived and sadly leading many people away from God not toward God. John 14:1-6 says and this is Jesus speaking, "“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in Me (Jesus). There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know the way to where I am going.” “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through Me." If these are the words that came right out of Jesus’ mouth himself, how ca n this pastor claim that Jesus did not believe this as Truth. It’s a lie and deceptive. Jesus is the only way because He’s the only One who took our sins, replaced our sins with His perfect life and all we have to do is receive this free gift that He gives us! It’s that easy. Every religion on this planet says that we have to do all the work. We have to live the best life possible and then when we die, we present our life to a god and ask, “will you accept it?” With Christianity, Jesus did all of the work for us, presents His life to us and asks us, will we accept Him?” It seems too good to be true, but that’s how much our Heavenly Father loves us! S2 Ep 112112. It’s Time to Take a Stand!

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! How many of you would agree that we can be our own biggest obstacle? Like, we want to do something, but yet we let fear stop us. Or, we have these great desires, yet we lack the motivation to do what we need to do in order to get them done. Or someone compliments us on something, yet we immediately start thinking of all the ways that we aren’t good enough. Joshua felt the same way when God was calling him to do big things. He felt weak. He was scared. He probably had the thought, “Who am I to do something like this? God, I know you know everything, but me? Like, don’t you know who I am?” When God was telling Joshua to step out and do what he had called him to do, but all Joshua wanted to do was run and hide. Joshua 1:1-2 says, “After the death of Moses the Lord’s servant, the Lord spoke to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant. He said, 2 “Moses my servant is dead. Therefore, the time has come for you to lead these people, the Israelites, across the Jordan River into the land I am giving them. I promise you what I promised Moses: ‘Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you—” So, Moses had just died. The Israelites are getting ready to step into the promised land. They have some big challenges they are getting ready to face and now they need a new leader…and that new leader is Joshua. Oh, and did I mention how many Israelites that Joshua was supposed to lead? It wasn’t 50. It wasn’t 100 or even 1,000. We’re talking Joshua is being called in to lead 2-3 million people! As you can imagine, Joshua is facing some pretty big insecurities right about now. He is having to come to grips with the reality that he was no longer going to be a follower, but God was calling him out to be a leader. But God isn’t just going to leave Joshua to figure this out on his own. I love what he tells Joshua next. Joshua 1:5-9 says, “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you. 6 “Be strong and courageous, for you are the one who will lead these people to possess all the land I swore to their ancestors I would give them. 7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. 9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” In the midst of Joshua feeling weak, scared, and insecure, God is encouraging him and reminding him that he’s not alone. S2 Ep 110110. AMA: What Does a Pure Christian Relationship Look Like?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! This week’s AMA question is a compilation of several questions I have received over the past couple months. I have had questions on, what do I do if I’m dating a guy and I know it’s not right to what does a pure Christian relationship look like to when do I even know it’s time to start dating? So, I’m going to answer these questions and more! All right, so let’s start with the question, how do you know when it’s time to start dating. Well, I can give you my advice, but in the end it’s really a decision between you, your parents and God. However, I truly believe that there are times that are better than others and I truly believe that there are things we can do to keep ourselves out of trouble when the time is right. But before I even answer that question, I want to talk about dating today. The way that this world has set up dating is honestly preparing us for divorce. I mean think about it. You think a guy is cute. He thinks you’re cute. You start hanging out. You begin to date. Then, when he’s no fun anymore or he thinks you’re no fun anymore, it’s time to move to the next guy. It’s not about commitment. It’s not about what’s best for the other person. It’s not about if you’re going to marry them one day or not. Song of Solomon 8:4 tells us and this is from the Message Bible. It says, “Oh, let me warn you, sisters, don’t excite love, don’t stir it up, until the time is ripe—and you’re ready." The reason is because every person that you date, you are giving a piece of your heart away to and when it’s time to give your heart to the man God has for you, there’s not a lot left to give. It’s been broken. It’s been bruised. So, how do you know when the time is right? Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! In this week's Ask Me Anything Episode, Grace asks: "Why do you believe in God? And why should I? Why do I believe in God? When I was at the lowest of lows, God came in and rescued me. When I was completely broken, He still wanted me. When my own family didn’t want me, God said, “I want you!” When the world said there was no use for me, I was just a throwaway, God said, “I have a purpose for you.” When the world said that I wasn’t worth loving, God said, “I love you so much that I sent my Son Jesus to die for you!” When I heard that God wanted to come into my life, take my past, take my brokenness and make me brand new, I was all in. I had tried living life without God and it didn’t work. This was the hope I so desperately needed! And let me tell you, my life didn’t change overnight, but even through the hard times, I know didn’t have to walk my life alone. God was with me. Now, when I look back on my life, it still amazes me how God took that broken 17 year old and transformed her life so much that the people I grew up with no longer recognize me. I tell people my story and they are in shock that those were stories about me because God has absolutely changed my life. S2 Ep 108108. Make Room with Mandie Maass

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Ladies, I am so excited about our special guest this week, Mandie Maass. Mandie is a Bible teacher, a speaker, a published writer, and the host of the Be the Brave Ones podcast. She is also the founder and visionary behind Brave Girls Gather, which is a ministry on a mission to see your generation live out their faith with resilience and courage. She has been championing Encouraging and mentoring teens for over a decade. And she wants girls everywhere to know that they have what it takes to live out the purpose God has for their life. In today's episode, Mandie talks about what it means to make room for Jesus. Making room for Jesus first starts with examining: "Am I making room?" "How am I making room?" "Is there opportunity for more room for Jesus?" Recently, I had one of you all ask the question, "What do I do if I don't have anyone to talk to?" Mandie answers that question as well in this week's episode. Check out this week's episode to learn more! S2 Ep 107107. Dream Big

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! I heard my pastor say this years ago and it had such an impact on me that it has stuck with me ever since. He said, “Big dreams and small dreams cost you the same…your life.” Ephesians 3:16-20 tells us the same thing. It says, and this is Paul speaking, “I pray that from God’s glorious, unlimited resources that He will empower you with inner strength through His Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. When this world tells us not to get our hopes up, I want to encourage you to do the exact opposite. Get your hopes up as high as they can go. God wants to use you to do big things for His kingdom. Ladies, if you struggle with feeling like you don’t have a purpose or that you’re a mistake or that you have no idea why God created you, I want you to know that God doesn’t make mistakes. He made you on purpose, with a purpose for a purpose. You being here on this earth during this time is proof that God saw a problem that only you could solve. He created you just like you are, with all of your quirks on purpose, because there are certain people who will be drawn to you so you can make a difference in their lives for the Lord. S2 Ep 106106. Are My Prayers Even Working?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Have you ever wondered if your prayers are working? Have you ever felt like you were just talking to yourself when you were praying…or maybe you felt like you just aren’t doing it right…like maybe God’s not listening because there’s something you’re missing? If that’s you, know that I have been there, too! When I first gave my life to Jesus at the age of 17, I felt this exact same way. When I became a Christian, nobody explained to me how to pray or how to even read the Bible. I had to figure it out on my own and it wasn’t an easy journey. Funny story, because I had heard all of these ultra-spiritual people praying, I actually thought that in order to talk to God through prayer, I had to start out by saying, “Heavenly Father” or “God” in a way that made me sound so sophisticated. Haha…I’m so glad I don’t have to act like that when I’m talking to God, I can just be myself. But even in the midst of not knowing how to pray or even how to read the Bible, I didn’t give up. One thing I have learned about God over the years is that when we reach out to God, it doesn’t matter how far away we were, He will always us right where we are, and I desperately needed Him to do that! Over the years I learned that the Bible actually has a lot to say about prayer and that God did actually want to answer my prayers. He wants to answer your prayers, too! But did you know that God can’t answer just any prayers. There’s only one type of prayer God can answer, and this is the number one reason I truly believe that we may not see God answering our prayers. The only kind of prayers that God can answer are prayers of faith based on the Word of God. Check out this week's episode of the UncommonTEEN Podcast to learn more! S2 Ep 105105. Building Real, Lasting Friendships

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Loneliness has become such an epidemic today…many people are even calling it a crisis. And the hard part is, when we feel that way, we don’t feel like we can talk about it…we feel like will understand or like they’ll judge us. And loneliness is no longer a problem with not being around people as I shared before. You can be surrounded by your friends; you can be surrounded by a large group of people and still feel lonely. According to the Christian Research Institute, loneliness is not just a social isolation issue, loneliness is caused when we feel unseen, we have trouble connecting with others, we don’t feel valued, and we don’t feel like we have a purpose. God created us as relational human beings. We were meant to have real relationships with people, not just surface level friendships. This was my biggest challenge growing up. I had the same close group of friends from Kindergarten all the way through college, but honestly, I don’t think any one of them ever took the time to really get to know me. Our friendships were always surface level…and I felt the heavy dread of loneliness. “Nobody likes me.” “Nobody cares about me.” “What’s wrong with me?” Feelings are very real, but we shouldn’t follow our feelings, because they can often lie to us, telling us things like, “there must be something wrong with me?” “why am I so different?” “why can’t people just like me?” But how do we build those true friendships? How do we break past those feelings of loneliness or that nobody likes us into the joy and encouragement true friendships can bring us? S2 Ep 103103. Who is God?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! I was reading an article from the sweet Sara Barrett talking about why teens today are in what many people call an identity crisis. When we talk about identity as Christians and who God says we are, we miss out on one very important piece of information. Before we can really receive who it is that God says we are, we have to answer the question, who is God that I should trust Him?" First of all…God is love! If you are anything like me, I had a dad growing up who didn’t understand what it meant to be a good dad…not even close! It was hard for me to see how much I was really loved by God, because I was looking at God through the eyes of how I saw my earthly dad. However, once I had a revelation of how much God loved me, it rocked my world! When I gave my life to Jesus at the age of 17, I was a depressed, broken, miserable mess! But what changed my life, was I heard how much He loved me and how much He cared about me…even when my earthly father didn’t and I couldn’t help but be drawn to him. I have heard many Christians and even pastors say things like, “You better not mess up or God’s going to get you!” Ladies, God is not looking out and watching for when you mess up so that He can give you a holy smack to the head. No! He doesn’t like when you mess up. It hurts His heart, because He knows that it’s hurting you, but He’s not out to get you. That’s the devil. John 10:10 tells us that the thief…or the devil is the one who comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy, but Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly! S2 Ep 102102. 7 Reasons We Struggle to Read the Bible

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! There’s a trend that I have noticed over the past 3 years with coaching Christian teen girls. About 95% of the girls that I coach, have a challenge with reading their Bibles daily. I know if these girls are struggling, there are probably a lot more of you who are struggling as well. A couple weeks ago, I decided to do some research and this is what I found: 60% of American Christians either rarely read their Bibles or never read their Bibles. 39% of Christian teens worldwide, not just in America, do not even believe that Jesus was crucified. 50% of Christian teens, again worldwide, do not believe that Jesus rose from the dead. You may have heard me say this a couple weeks ago on the podcast, but ladies those two things…Jesus being crucified on a very cruel cross and raising from the dead is at the core of what we believe. You must believe that in order to be a Christian! Only 12% of Christians who go to church read the Bible daily. So think about this, only 12 people out of every 100 people you see at church read their Bible daily. Ladies, if this is you…you struggle with reading your Bible daily…I am not putting you down at all. You are not alone. As I shared 95% of the teen girls that I have coached over the past 3 years struggled with it as well. But why? Why are most Christians struggling to read the Bible every day. Here are 7 reasons why: We don’t have time. We don’t understand what it says when we do read it. We don’t know where to start with reading it. We find it boring. We don’t like reading or have trouble with reading. We think they know everything already, because we have been going to church our whole lives. They don’t think it’s still relevant to them today…that it’s outdated. Support the show Want a little extra sparkle this month? ✨ Grab your December Glow Mail and soak in God's Radiant Love for you! S2 Ep 101101. One Thing that Will Make Your Christmas Even Better!

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Merry Christmas!! Have you ever had a challenging day and out of nowhere, someone comes up to you and says something to you and it just so encouraged you? I know I have. There was a time several years ago that I was worried about something. It was something I had never done before and honestly, I was scared. Out of nowhere, someone came up to me and encouraged me and let me know that God was with me that I didn’t need to be afraid. It was exactly what I needed to hear at exactly the right time. Maybe you haven’t been in that place. Maybe you needed an encouraging word and yet no one came up to you and encouraged you. I’m sorry that happened, but instead of being sad or upset about it, how about you be that for someone else this Christmas season? Proverbs 12:25 tells us that worries weighs a person down, but an encouraging word cheers a person up. S2 Ep 9898. AMA: How Do I Help My Friend Struggling with Anxiety?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Before we dig deeper on how we can help our friends who struggle with anxiety, let’s talk a little bit about anxiety. The problem with anxiety is that God did not create our bodies to carry worries or anxieties. When we excessively worry or struggle with anxiety, it will eventually break us down, physically, mentally and spiritually. Listen to some of the common side effects of stress and worry: Side effects on your bodyHeadaches Muscle pain Chest pain Tiredness Upset stomach Trouble sleeping Get sick easier Dizziness Fast heartbeat Nausea Shortness of breath Heart disease Side effects on your mindAnxiety Restlessness Lack of motivation Memory problems Bad mood Sadness Depression Panic attacks Can’t focus or think clearly Tiredness Suicidal thoughts Billy Graham said, “At its best, anxiety distracts us from our relationship with God and the truth that He is “Lord of heaven and earth” (Matthew 11:25). At its worst, anxiety is a crippling disease, taking over our minds and plunging our thoughts into darkness.” Billy Graham also said, “God doesn’t want us to be consumed with worry and anxiety . . . Instead, He wants us to turn our worries over to Him, and to trust Him for the future.” 1 Peter 5:7-9 says, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith.” Support the show Want a little extra sparkle this month? ✨ Grab your December Glow Mail and soak in God's Radiant Love for you! S2 Ep 9797. AMA: What Do I Do When Someone Is Telling Lies About Me at School?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! First of all, it hurts my heart to know that someone has been spreading lies about you. I have been the subject of many lies myself, especially when I was in middle school and high school. One of those lies was so bad that if others had believed it, it could have gotten me in some really big trouble. But even with those lies that were spread about me, it seems like rumors and lies have become common today, especially among teens. You may have heard of this, I’m on TikTok, but I read an article about this a couple days ago and I wish I could say it surprised me, but it really doesn’t. But there is a new trend on TikTok where TikTokers are “exposing gossipers” by when they overheard others gossiping about someone, they air everything on video, sometimes getting down to the very detail of what these gossipers look like so people know who they are and who it is they are talking about.” So, essentially, they are gossiping about gossipers, making fun of the gossipers, but also hurting a whole lot of people in the process. It's crazy, but it’s become such common place that we don’t even think about it when people talk to us about others…or we talk to others about someone else. A quick tip about your friends, if they are talking to you behind someone’s back, they are most likely talking about you behind your back. Okay, so back to the question, “What do I do when someone is spreading lies about me at school?” When someone tells a lie about us, we instantly want to defend ourselves by telling everyone that it’s not true or even by going to the person spreading the lies and confront them. However, the problem is, when we do this, one, it makes us look guilty and two it causes more challenges. It basically adds fuel to the fire. They want a reaction out of you, and you just gave it to them. People want to make others feel bad to make themselves feel better, the problem with that is that they actually feel better. You might be thinking, “Yeah, but they are the most popular people in school.” It doesn’t matter. Actually, many times, the most popular people in school are some of the most insecure people. They gain their identity and social status from the people around them, and if they mess up, they lose it all. When they are at home by themselves at the end of the day, they usually hate who they are. To learn what to do when people spread lies about you, check out this week's episode of the UncommonTEEN Podcast! S2 Ep 9595. AMA: How Do I Influence Others Without Them Influencing Me?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! We are going to start a special series over the rest of this month and next month. We are going to be doing multiple AMA episodes. These questions are special, though, because these are questions that the ladies asked during UncommonTEEN Live! This week’s AMA episode is all about influence! We are answering the questions, “How do you influence others at school without them influencing you.” “How do you show the love of Jesus to others but not become best friends when you’re being nice, but they are not a good influence.” “How do you stand out from the world.” These are such great questions, and they are questions that you might have asked even yourself. To get started, let’s answer the questions, “What is an influencer?” “What is influence?” Am I really an influencer?” If I were to ask you, “what is the definition of influencer?” You might say something along the lines of someone on YouTube or TikTok that has positioned themselves to be an expert in a certain area that has a massive number of followers. They set trends and have the power to affect many people. According to this definition, you would most likely say that you are not on influencer. But did you know that you are an influencer…and even bigger influencer than you realize. Every one of us are influencers. But before we dig into that, let’s answer the question, “What is influence?” The definition of the word influence is, “the power to have an effect on people.” You are an influencer, because weather you realize it or not every time you come into contact with someone, you are influencing them in some kind of way. It may be for the good or it may be for the bad. Ladies, you are an influencer whether you like it or not…no matter what you’re doing or where you’re at. Now, I want you to look back on your life over this past month, over the past couple weeks and I want you to ask yourself, “Has my influence been about me or has it been shining the light of Jesus to this dark world?” If it’s been about you, no condemnation. Ask God for forgiveness, He’s ready to forgive you and decide…I am going all in with Jesus today. I am making my influence all about Jesus! In Matthew 5:14, Jesus calls you a light in this world. He says, “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” This world is a dark place. It’s broken and without hope. I want you to think about light for a minute. What does light to? It helps us see in the dark, so we don’t hurt ourselves. It exposes what’s hidden in the dark. If you drop a $20 on the ground in the dark, it’s hard to see where it landed unless you turn on the light on your phone or in the room, right? It exposes what was hidden in the dark. It also converts the darkness into light. No amount of darkness can stand up to the smallest amount of light. “Don't shine so others can see you. Shine so that through you, others can see Him Support the show Want a little extra sparkle this month? ✨ Grab your December Glow Mail and soak in God's Radiant Love for you! S2 Ep 9393. Tarot Cards, Ouija Boards, & Witches! Oh my!

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! TikTok has made modern witchcraft a trend today, but it’s so dangerous. Witch Tok (11 billion videos just last year with over 30 billion views) If you are on TikTok, you’ve most likely seen some of these videos even if you didn’t stop to watch. They are the new trend. Panera now has palm reading tech at their locations so you can scan your palm and it will tell you exactly what you need to order. McDonalds was giving away chances to win tarot card readings with the purchase of their meals. Disney has shows that glorify being impregnated by satan…or being a daughter of satan himself. The theme of these movies is that the girls feels like she’s alone and doesn’t belong and satan will accept them. This is a lie from the enemy. The devil could care less about anyone. Target was selling shirts earlier this year…may still be selling them, I don’t know because I don’t shop there, but these shirts said, “satan loves you.” That is a lie. Satan only cares about himself and could care less about anyone else. The reason why, he has always wanted to have more authority than humans and he doesn’t. God made humans to be of a higher rank than angels and that infuriates him. What really made me righteously angry this past week was I found where a company was selling an Ouija board that is for Christians! On the box is actually says that if you use this board, you can talk “directly to Jesus Himself.” Ladies, this isn’t Jesus they are talking to, they are demons. And a side note, you don’t need anything to go between you and God for you to talk to Him. You can talk directly to Him…and He will speak directly to you. Now, most of the time He will talk to you, is through the Bible, but He can also talk to your Spirit…that’s not as common, but He does. We just need to learn how to listen. If you are looking for guidance, ask God! He would love to give you the answer! James 1:5-6 says, “f you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.” Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us to trust in the Lord with all our heart and do not depend on our own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all you do and He will show you which path to take. Psalm 32:8, God tells us that HE will guide us along the best path for our life. He will advise us and watch over us. Psalm 119:105 tells us that His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. And the craziest part is, do you know who they are marketing to the most…young girls and teen girls. Not boys, you! S2 Ep 9292. (The Real Part 2) AMA: How Do I Keep Looking to God in the Hard Times?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Last week, we started to answer Anna’s question about how do we keep looking to God in the hard times. If you have not listened to last week’s episode, I highly encourage you to go back and listen to it! As I shared last week, it probably doesn’t come as a surprise to us that we are living in some pretty dark times. We have the war in Israel that just broke out, people are more confused than ever by what is right and what is wrong. Outside of a college just the other day, there were protesters that were advocating murder. I wish I could share that this world is going to get better, but unfortunately, it’s not. The Bible talks about this in Isaiah 60:1-3. It says, “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, (this is talking about what we’re seeing today) but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you. All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.” How do we stand strong during this time? How do we, like Anna asked, keep looking to God even in the hard times? Last week, we began talking about the armor of God and we started digging into the first piece, the belt of Truth, but before we get back into that, let’s go back and read Ephesians 6:10-18. It says, “be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. 15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.[e] 16 In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil.[f] 17 Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. We have to put on the whole armor of God. But what does that actually mean? S2 Ep 9191. AMA: How Do I Keep Looking to God in the Hard Times? Part 1

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! On this week''s AMA episode, Anna asks, "How do we keep looking to God even during hard times? Sometimes I struggle with not looking to God as soon as something goes wrong but I want to." Anna, this is such a great question. This is going to be a two part series, because I want you to really get this! It most likely comes to no surprise to you all that we are living in some very interesting times. The world is getting darker and darker. Every time you turn on the news, it seems like there’s something else to be concerned about. We are living in a world where it seems like everyone is so confused, they don’t know what’s right and what’s wrong anymore, they are without hope…and then on top of that we have an enemy who’s number one goal is what John 10:10 tells us…it’s to come into our lives, to steal, to kill and to destroy. So, with all this craziness, how do we keep looking to God even in the hard times? Well, first of all, let me tell you…there is hope! As Christians, when the world is so confused and have questions…they don’t have answers, but as Christians, we do have answers and we do have hope. Ladies, this world is going to get darker and darker, but we have hope! Isaiah 60 verses 1-3 says, “Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see. For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. Darkness as black as night covers all the nations of the earth, (this is talking about what we’re seeing today) but the glory of the Lord rises and appears over you. All nations will come to your light; mighty kings will come to see your radiance.” Ladies, while this world is getting darker and darker…God says you as a part of the body of Christ are going to get brighter and brighter! People will be amazed by your brightness, and they will be drawn to you. They want what you have! Ladies, you don’t have to worry about the enemy…you don’t have to worry about his agenda to steal, to kill and to destroy. You can stand strong and have hope even in the darkest of times. You have a God who is fighting for you. Who will never leave you nor turn His back on you. Deuteronomy 1:30 says, “The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt.” This is talking about what Moses freed the Israelites with the of God from the Egyptian people who were holding them as slaves. Deuteronomy 31 says, “So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” How do we stand strong and courageous. How do we not allow ourselves to be afraid and panic. And as Anna asked, "how do we keep looking to God even in the hard times?" S2 Ep 9090. Confident in Your Skin: Interview with Jenelle Thompson

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! For 12 years, Jenelle Thompson fought an ugly battle with not one, but two eating disorders. Her fixation to be super thin nearly cost her her life. Although Jenelle was very successful in both her modeling and acting career, she had extremely low self confidence. She constantly compared herself to others she saw as prettier and more desirable. Jenelle began the saying the phrase "Confident in my skin" to embrace the uniqueness in which God created His daughters. We have been created in His imagine and He made us exactly how He needed. Because of the direct impact the media plays on how our young girls perceive themselves, many are ashamed of their beautiful features that God gave them so they try to change to fit into society. I challenge young ladies to find the beauty within herself so she will be able to share her confidence with the world. Be sure to check out this week's episode as Jenelle teaches us what it means to be confident in our skin! S2 Ep 8989. Dare to Shine: Conference Sneak Peek

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Dare to Shine! This week we’re going to talk what it means to shine your light in a world that is full of craziness, chaos, darkness and without hope. Living in a culture and a world like this, it definitely takes courage and boldness to shine the light of Jesus. Matthew 5:14-16 is our theme verse for UncommonTEEN Live this year. It says, " You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do theylight a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Ladies, you are the light of the world and it’s time to let your let be an influence to everyone around you! Think about verse 14. It says, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden." I don’t know if you have ever been to the mountains and have seen houses that are set out on a field. About 2 hours from where I live, in Chattanooga, TN, one of the neat things to look at are all of the houses and businesses that are set on the mountains. When you drive through at night, it’s such a beautiful sight to see. You are like that city that is set on a hill. God is calling you out and He’s saying, “It’s time for you to shine your light so bright that everyone who comes near you can’t help but look at it. It’s time for you to influence the world around you with the light that is inside of you.” Verse 15 then goes on to say, “Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.” One thing about the lamps that they used during the time of Jesus is that they were their only source of light. When this was the only source of light for the people living at that time, it wouldn’t make sense for them to hide that light under a basket. They wouldn’t be able to see anything clearly in the darkness. God is telling you to not be afraid to shine your light in this dark world. Let your light shine so you can influence the world around you. They need to see your light and see that there is hope. When we place our light, the light of Jesus on the inside of us under a basket, nobody can see it. There is no hope. Don’t shy back…be the light God called you to be. Don’t be afraid to stand up and pray when your youth pastor asks if someone will pray. Don’t shy away when you can help someone else or offer to pray for someone. Step out. Be bold. Be courageous. Stand strong for God! Let your light shine! Then finally, Matthew 5:16 says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.” We need to take action and shine our lights so brightly. You may have heard that little kid’s song, “The little light of mine, I’m going to let it shi Support the show Want a little extra sparkle this month? ✨ Grab your December Glow Mail and soak in God's Radiant Love for you! S2 Ep 8888. Dare to Be Confident: Conference Sneak Peek

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! This week we’re going to talk about why it’s a dare in order to be confident. On last week’s episode, we talked about why it’s a dare to be beautiful. We first began by defining what that word dare means. That word dare means: the courage that is required to do something big. Dare also means to challenge someone to do something that requires boldness. And lastly dare means to confront something boldly. So, why does it take courage and boldness to be confident? Why does it take courage and boldness to hold your heard high and not be so shaken by what others think about you? Ladies, you are in a fight your life, but you’re also in a fight for your future. There is a fight against your identity:Meaning the enemy and this culture don’t want you to see yourself as God sees you, so they try to get you to believe something that’s not true about who you are. There is a fight against your friends. This world and all it has to offer can be enticing and you may see your friends deciding to straddle that line between living for God and living for this world and eventually you may even see them completely abandoning their faith…and it hurts to watch our friends go through this. There is a fight against your schools and the agendas this culture is trying to push that is so against God. There is a fight to make sure there’s absolutely no place for God in school. There is a fight against your value and your worth. We constantly criticize who we are based on what others think. There is a fight against your body image and how you see yourself.Nitpicking everything about us. There is a fight against your purpose. Do we really have a purpose? Why am I here? There is a fight against the people that you are looking to that influence you.So many people are no longer standing for the Truth. There is a fight against your walk with God…Reading the Bible, praying, worship. There is a fight against your time…We're so busy that our head is spinning. There’s a fight against your confidence. This world is telling you to be confident in yourself. You’ve got this! You can do it! However, that’s not what God says. Ladies, it’s a dare to be confident, because it takes courage and boldness to stand against this culture and say, enough is enough! My confidence comes from the Lord! I am confident in the way I look, because God made me beautifully. I am confident in my walk with God, because He will never fail me. He is always faithful. I am confident in my purpose! God has a plan for my life and it’s a good plan! Support the show Want a little extra sparkle this month? ✨ Grab your December Glow Mail and soak in God's Radiant Love for you! S2 Ep 8585. AMA: What Do I Do When My Friends Are Leading Me Away from Jesus?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! We have just 32 days until UncommonTEEN Live!! Ladies, I cannot tell you how excited I am about all that God is already doing through this conference! Our tickets are selling, but we still have room for you! If you have any questions about the conference or you’re ready to grab your tickets today, head on over to uncommonteenlive.com. This week on our Ask Me Anything episode and I am answering questions from Celeste and Nicole. Celeste says, "I'm a Christian teen and last year I was surrounded by people who did not share the same beliefs as I did. I felt like I was being pressured to be someone I wasn't so I told them I was lesbian to fit in. Now, I know I was wrong and I've been trying to surround myself with more like-minded people. However, when I see my old friends, I feel pressured to still talk about the LGBTQ community and agree with it, when I don't, then afterwards I feel bad." And Nicole says, “Hey Jamie. I’m in some kind of dilemma. So I recently moved continents and had to attend a new school. It’s a lot different from my school at home. I really prayed for God to lead me to good friends so I won’t be alone on the first day. And it did happen; I was welcomed by an amazing group of girls. But they don’t really have a relationship with God or seek to have one. It’s been so hard trying to share my faith because of fear of rejection. Lately my relationship with God has gone downhill and I’m planning on spending the summer getting closer to Him. I told God that I truly want Him to use me for His work and that I’m ready to lay down those things I hold dear to me. So my new friends added me to their group chat mainly to talk about our holiday plans but I’ve been having this feeling to leave it. I don’t know if it’s God telling me to or if I’m just trying to pull back from them. I did leave but they asked me why I left when I came to school and since I had no answer, I just told them to add me back. What do you think I should do? They’ve been so nice to me since the day I arrived and I don’t want them to feel like I don’t want to be friends anymore. I’ve asked God if it’s Him trying to tell me if I should leave the group. I know this is more of a trivial issue but I don’t want anything to separate me from God." S2 Ep 8484. Overcome Temptations

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! I heard someone say this the other day and it really made me think…they said that one of the biggest challenges that we face in life comes from temptations. I don’t know about you, but that doesn’t make me feel very encouraged. However, there is encouragement, because just because we are tempted, it doesn’t mean that temptations have to overcome us. 1 John 5:4 tells us that whatever is born of God, overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world, our faith. Meaning if you have given your life to Jesus, He’s talking to you…if you have God on your side, you can overcome any temptation that tries to come your way! 1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “For no temptation, no matter how it comes or where it leads has overtaken you that is not common to man [that is, no temptation or trial has come to you that is beyond human resistance. But God is faithful [to His Word and to His compassionate nature], and He [can be trusted] not to let you be tempted beyond your ability and strength of resistance, but with the temptation He will [always] provide the way out. Ladies, we all face temptations. You may be walking through some temptations right now, so I want you to know that you are not alone. The good news is, though, that temptation doesn’t have to defeat you. God tells us that when temptation comes, he will provide a way of escape every single time…it’s up to us to choose it! Temptation will come to you, because the enemy is real and he wants to pull you down any way he can, but it doesn’t have to overcome you! We just have to decide that we are not going to let that temptation overcome us! The two biggest things that the enemy tries to tempt us with is our mind—or our thinking and our emotions. Can I get an amen? Did you know that not all the thoughts that come through your head are your thoughts? Have you ever had a thought come into your head and you were like…where in the world did that come from? That is not something I would ever think about? You were almost ashamed by it. The enemy will put thoughts in your mind, because he wants you to take the bait. If you take a thought that he places in your mind and you begin to really think about it. When it was just a thought…that was the temptation, when you began to really think about it and think about it…that’s when that temptation won. S2 Ep 8282: AMA: How Do I Make Reading the Bible a Habit?

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! The week is our Ask Me Anything Episode and this week’s questions come from Callista and Macee. Callista asks, “I feel like I don’t read the bible as much as I should, how can I get into the bible more and use the bible in my daily life?” Macee asks, “I pray, read the Bible, and love God unconditionally, sometimes I just feel a space between God. How can I fix that to feel no space?” The Bible is under attack today, now more than ever. Not only is this culture calling what is right wrong and wrong right and so many people are confused about it, but there’s another attack that’s happening on the Bible today and it’s happening in many of our homes and to many of you listening to this podcast episode today. One of the biggest challenges I hear from teen girls today is that they have a challenge with making it a habit to get into the Bible daily. Did you know: 23% of Christian teens read their Bible daily. 30% of Christian teens read it a couple times a week. AND 59% of Americans want to read their Bibles more...now I know this talks about Americans, but my guess is this is almost every country, but what keeps us from doing it? There are 6 Reasons I usually see: We're too busy. We're too tired. We lack motivation. We're easily distracted. We forget to read our Bible We don't understand it, so we don't read it. S2 Ep 8181. Stand Against the Culture with Courage, Reach the People with Compassion

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! How do you stand up against the culture with courage while still reaching the people with compassion? This world is a little…okay, not a little…a lot upside down. They are so morally confused that they no longer know what is right and what is wrong. This world is so upside-down. So, how do we stand against the culture with courage while reaching the people with compassion? It starts with taking a stand. We have to stand strong on the word of God and not change what we believe or hold back from telling others what we believe because we are afraid of what they will think, what they will say, or what they will do. We have to take stand for what is right. In this culture where sin is very much celebrated and where Christianity is not tolerated much anymore. We have to make the choice that we are not going to give in to fear. We are not going to give in to this culture. But we are going to stand strong for the Word of God. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power (your prayers are powerful, your voice is powerful, your actions are powerful), of love, and of a sound mind…a mind at peace! S2 Ep 8080. Overcoming the Lies of the Enemy-Lie 8: Acceptance is Love

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! There is so much confusion in today’s culture concerning gender identity and same sex attraction. This week, we are conquering lie #8, our final lie on our Overcoming the Lies of the Enemy series and that is…Acceptance is Love. Actually, the exact opposite is true. While it may seem like when we affirm people’s choices, even though they may not line up with the Word of God, that we are showing them the love of God. That’s the exact opposite. I have done a lot of research on this topic and have heard from several people who are experts in this field and they say that we have to do the exact opposite. We have to speak the Truth of God's Word with love. We have to stand against the culture with courage while still reaching the people with compassion. Before we get started, I want to clarify, I don’t hate anyone. My heart is to help you all and others see how much God really does love you, how much He has an amazing plan for your life, and how much it breaks His heart to see you hurting and in pain. I also know that there are a lot of people who are Christians who don’t act like Christians when it comes to how they treat people walking the LGBTQ Lifestyle. They treat them with such hatred and sometimes even violence, and I hate that. That is not how God would treat anyone. He has such love for them, but also wants them to be free. S2 Ep 7979. Overcoming the Lies of the Enemy: Lie #7-My Sin Defines Me

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! Most of you have probably heard the song “Amazing Grace.” The lyrics start out by saying, “Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now I’m found…was blind, but now I see.” It’s a beautiful song, however, I have a problem with these lyrics…and it has to do with the phrase, “That saved a wretch like me.” That word wretch means, “someone who is miserable, someone who is worthless.” So, in essense, this song is saying, “Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved someone miserable and worthless like me.” Miserable and worthless may have been who we were before we met Christ, but that’s not who we are if you given our life to Jesus. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Have you ever heard someone say, “I’m a Christian murderer.” Or “I’m a Christian thief?” or “I’m a Christian…name a sin.” You might be thinking, well, no, that’s kind of interesting. If you’re a murderer and you keep on killing, how can you really be a Christian. Or If you’re a thief and you have no intentions of stopping, how can you really be a Christian, yet, there are some areas that some Christians say this about. As a Christian, when you gave your life to Jesus, He made you new. He placed the Holy Spirit on the inside of you and now you should desire to want to do better. Now, this doesn’t mean that we’re perfect, but it does mean that we want to do better. If we don’t, then my question is, are we really born again? Have we really made Jesus the Lord of our lives? This also doesn’t mean that we’re going to change everything about us all at once because we gave our lives to Jesus. The Holy Spirit will work on us one thing at a time…and sometimes we don’t even realize something is a sin until God reveals it to us. That’s not what I’m talking about. What I’m talking about is embracing their sin, intentionally sinning and calling themselves a Christian. In 1 Corinthians 5:11, Paul talks about how we need to be cautious about not hanging out with people who identify as a Christian, but yet are okay with embracing their sin. S2 Ep 7878. Overcoming the Lies of the Enemy-Lie #6: Positive and Negative Vibes

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! I hear these phrases so often spoken by Christians and especially among Christian teens and young adults…phrases like, “I’m not getting good vibes about this.” Or “Hey, something bad happened, I need you all to send me your positive thoughts and vibes.” I think so many Christians use these phrases because they are such widely used today as a part of our culture. You may be thinking, “Well, I have said these phrases, but I don’t really even know the meaning behind it. It just seems like something nice to say to encourage someone who’s going through something bad.” I love that your heart is to encourage others, but I don’t know about you, but if something happened to me that was crazy, somebody’s “positive thoughts” or “positive vibes” aren’t going to do anything to help my actual situation. So, why do we use the word vibes as Christians? I read this on upsidedownfaith.com, now I don’t know much about them, but just read this article on vibes. They answered this question and I want you to think about whether or not it’s true. They said, “vibes are more socially acceptable than prayer.” And to a lot of people, “Good thoughts are stronger than the power of God.” Check out this week's podcast to learn more! S2 Ep 7777. Overcoming the Lies of the Enemy: Lie #5-Law of Attraction and Mindfulness are Christian Beliefs

Have a question you want me to answer on the podcast? Ask Here! The Law of Attraction and Mindfulness are huge buzzwords today, but are they really Christian beliefs? Many Christians have actually adopted both of these beliefs into their beliefs, but do they line up with the Bible? The answer is...no. Actually both of these beliefs have shown to encourage people to turn away from God, not toward Him. The Law of Attraction focuses solely on us and our thoughts and how we are the ones to manifest our future (or create our future). However, God had a purpose and a plan for our lives before the world was even formed. He alone knows the full scope of our plans, not us! Proverbs 19:3 tells us that "The foolishness of a man twists his way, And his heart acts in rage against the LORD." Ouch! I don't know about you, but I don't want to rely on myself. Well, what about mindfulness, that can't be so bad. I mean aren't they practicing mindfulness in schools now in as young as kindergartners. They are and it's actually a pretty scary thing. Listen to the article I found in Christian News Journal about mindfulness in adults...I can't even imagine what it does in kid's lives. It says, "Dr. Willoughby Britton, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown University Medical School, a mindfulness practitioner herself, has documented how many who have engaged in Buddhist meditation can become detached from themselves, experiencing dark psychotic hallucinations, feelings of terror, and compulsions to kill themselves." To learn more about these and the Truth about what God's Word says, check out this week's episode of the UncommonTEEN Podcast!
