Show Notes

"Move the body first; then, the understanding will come."

In this week's episode, we unpack the power of dance and yoga in connecting back to yourself, releasing trauma stored in the body, and its therapeutic effects. Karla shares about how incorporating movement into our daily routines can empower us towards healing and restoration.

Karla Parbon is a Doctoral Candidate at Gonzaga University, where she is studying how to apply the concept of how movement can be a source for healing and restoration for the individual and collective โ€“ blending art, spirituality, and the human experience. She also specializes in somatic movement methods, including Alexander Technique, Laban Movement Analysis, and the Feldenkrais Method. This episode goes deep into the science and also the practical applications of the therapeutic effects of movement and energy.

In a society that says playing and dancing is just for kids, would you believe studies show that incorporating dance and play in the lives of adults can have the same or better outcomes than anti-depression medication?

Listen to this episode and explore the science behind movement and creative expression. It may be time to turn on the music and channel your inner child!
