What Spirituality REALLY Means (It’s Not What You Think)

We’ve all seen it: the Instagram-perfect spiritual retreats, the $200 crystal kits, the endless #Awakening hashtags. But what if true spirituality has nothing to do with any of that?In this week’s raw conversation, we strip away the buzzwords and get to the heart of what spirituality actually means. Here’s the truth:* Spirituality isn’t about escaping your life—it’s about reclaiming it.* Society layers us with expectations: Be smarter. Earn more. Climb higher. But beneath that noise is your true spirit—the "you" that existed before the world told you who to be.* The real work? Peeling back those layers. Not with sage smudges, but with uncomfortable questions: Who am I when no one’s watching? What does my spirit crave?* Material success ≠ spiritual wealth.* Money, fame, power—they’re not evil, but they’re empty without alignment. As the episode asks: Why are so many “successful” people drowning in loneliness?* Spiritual wealth is the antidote: clarity, purpose, and the courage to feel deeply.* Emotional growth is the missing manual.* We’re taught algebra but not how to process grief. We master coding but not how to regulate anger.* The episode’s kicker: “Spirituality is getting to know your spirit and following its guidance.” No tarot deck required.Takeaways for Your Journey:* Daily Reflection: Spend 5 minutes asking: “What does my spirit need today?”* Uncomfortable Truths: Journal one emotion you’ve been avoiding (fear, envy, guilt). Let it exist without judgment.* Small Rebellion: Do something your spirit loves—even if it’s “weird” (dance alone, nap without guilt, say no to a draining event).Quote to Ponder:“Your spirit isn’t hiding in Bali—it’s buried under layers of ‘shoulds.’ Start digging.”What societal “layer” have you recently peeled back? From Burnout to Breakthrough: How CJ Stasik Let Go of Superwoman Syndrome

Have you ever felt like you had to do it all? Like the weight of the world was on your shoulders, and asking for help felt like failure?CJ Stasik knows that feeling all too well. As a successful entrepreneur and the founder of She Handles It, she spent years juggling work, family, and personal expectations—until one defining moment made her realize she couldn’t keep going this way. In this episode, CJ shares the wake-up call that forced her to rethink everything she believed about strength, success, and self-worth.The Moment That Changed EverythingPicture this: CJ, arms full of groceries, high heels pressing into the pavement, struggling to open the door while carrying everything at once. Her teenage son watches from the window, snaps a picture, and laughs. Instead of helping, he sees it as just another example of his mom doing what she always does—handling it all. But for CJ, that moment wasn’t funny. It was the breaking point.“I should have laughed, but instead, I dropped the groceries and had a full-blown emotional breakdown,” she recalls. “That was the moment I realized—I had done this to myself.”The Myth of the SuperwomanLike so many high-achieving women, CJ had been conditioned to believe that productivity equaled worthiness. Growing up as the eldest child, she was rewarded for being responsible, for taking care of others, for always getting things done. That mindset followed her into adulthood, where she found herself drowning in responsibilities—trying to be the perfect mother, wife, business owner, and friend.“I thought being strong meant never needing help,” she says. “But strength isn’t about doing everything alone. It’s about knowing when to ask for support.”Saying ‘No’ and Taking Her Power BackCJ’s transformation began with a single word: No. One evening, as her phone buzzed with work calls during family dinner, she finally had the courage to say it. “That one ‘no’ led to another. And then another. And suddenly, I realized—I wasn’t letting people down. I was finally showing up for myself.”By setting boundaries and prioritizing what truly mattered, CJ reshaped her life. She embraced work-life integration instead of chasing the impossible dream of balance. She learned to release guilt, delegate, and make space for joy. And she discovered that true success isn’t about how much you can carry—it’s about how intentionally you choose to live.Breaking the CyclePerhaps the most powerful part of CJ’s journey is how she’s using it to help others. Through She Handles It, she empowers women to rewrite the narratives that keep them stuck, to step out of survival mode, and to embrace a life that actually fulfills them.“I realized that I’m not just doing this for me—I’m doing it for my kids. I want them to grow up knowing that they don’t have to burn themselves out to be worthy,” she says.Listen to the Full ConversationIf you’ve ever felt like you’re running on empty, this episode is for you. CJ’s story is a powerful reminder that letting go of ‘Superwoman Syndrome’ isn’t weakness—it’s freedom.🎧 Tune in now and start your own journey to breaking free.🔗 Learn more about CJ Stasik and her work at SheHandlesIt.comLet me know what resonated most with you in the comments. Breaking Barriers: Elise Woodworth’s Journey from VMI Cadet to Nonprofit Leader

In the heart of Decatur, Indiana, a young woman named Elise Woodworth harbored aspirations that transcended the conventional paths laid before her. Inspired by her father, Rick Jones, a 1972 graduate of the Virginia Military Institute (VMI), Elise was drawn to the challenges and opportunities that a military education could offer. Her journey from a small-town girl to a trailblazer in both military and nonprofit sectors is a testament to resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to service.Embracing the VMI ChallengeElise's first encounter with VMI occurred during a reunion visit with her father in the 1990s. The institution's ethos and camaraderie left an indelible mark on her young mind. When VMI opened its doors to female cadets in 1997, Elise seized the opportunity, requesting a provisional appointment even before reaching high school. This early determination set the stage for her future endeavors.Choosing VMI was not the path of least resistance, especially during a time when female cadets were pioneers in a predominantly male environment. Reflecting on her matriculation, Elise recalled the intensity of meeting her cadre, recognizing that the ensuing four years would be a formidable "game" she was determined to navigate and conquer.VMI Alumni AgenciesCadet Life: Leaning into Every OpportunityElise's philosophy at VMI was encapsulated by her commitment to "lean in" to every facet of cadet life. She immersed herself in various activities, including track and cross country, and took on leadership roles such as the 2nd Battalion S7 lieutenant, focusing on enhancing Corps morale. Her enthusiasm extended to unexpected arenas; at the onset of her 3rd Class year, she embraced cheerleading—a venture that allowed her to channel her passion for VMI and its community. These experiences were not without challenges. Elise acknowledged moments where success seemed elusive, understanding that VMI's design was to push cadets beyond their comfort zones. This environment fostered resilience and adaptability, qualities that would prove invaluable in her subsequent career. From Military Service to Nonprofit LeadershipUpon graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Elise commissioned into the U.S. Air Force, serving as a Logistics Officer. Her military tenure honed her leadership skills and provided a foundation for her future endeavors. After her service, Elise pursued an MBA from Capella University, merging her scientific background with business acumen.Elise WoodworthIn 2014, Elise founded Woodworth Enterprises, a firm dedicated to empowering nonprofits and their boards. Her approach integrates military precision with strategic business practices, aiming to propel organizations toward success. As a best-selling author of "Business Not Battle for Nonprofit Boards," Elise has transformed numerous nonprofits through her expertise in leadership, governance, and team building.Elise WoodworthContinued Commitment to VMI and CommunityElise's dedication to service extends beyond her professional life. She serves on the VMI Foundation's Board of Trustees, exemplifying her commitment to giving back to the institution that shaped her formative years. Balancing her roles as a mother of five, a business leader, and a community volunteer, Elise embodies the principles of leadership and resilience.ConclusionElise Woodworth's journey from a determined young cadet at VMI to a leader in both military and nonprofit sectors illustrates the profound impact of embracing challenges and committing to continuous growth. The Stories You Tell Yourself Are Lying to You!

Have you ever caught yourself spiraling into worry over something that turned out to be nothing? Maybe a friend didn’t text back, and suddenly, your mind crafted an entire narrative about how they were upset with you. Or perhaps your boss sent a short email, and now you’re convinced you’re in trouble. Sound familiar? Our minds are master storytellers. They weave intricate plots, fill in missing details, and create assumptions—all in an attempt to keep us safe. But what happens when the stories we tell ourselves aren’t based in reality? What happens when they fuel anxiety, doubt, and fear instead of clarity and confidence? Why Do We Make Up Stories? The human brain craves certainty. When there’s an information gap, we rush to fill it—often with worst-case scenarios. This is an evolutionary survival mechanism, but in modern life, it frequently backfires. Instead of keeping us safe, it keeps us trapped in cycles of unnecessary stress.Think about it:* Someone cuts you off in traffic, and you assume they’re rude. But maybe they’re rushing to the hospital.* A friend seems distant, and you think they’re mad at you. But maybe they’re just exhausted.* Your child’s phone location turns off, and you assume something terrible happened. But maybe their battery just died. The truth is, we don’t know. But our minds create these dramatic scripts anyway.🧘‍♀️ The Meditation Blueprint: A Step-by-Step Guide to Inner PeaceAre stress and anxiety holding you back? It's time to reset, recharge, and find your inner calm. 🌿Join us for The Meditation Blueprint, a transformational workshop where you’ll learn:✅ Simple meditation techniques for clarity & peace✅ How to quiet your mind and reduce stress✅ A step-by-step approach to mindfulness📅 March 19th | Wednesday⏰ 7:00 PM EST🔗 Sign up now: https://www.fitwarriorlife.com//_paylink/AZVNxw7nStart your journey to inner peace today. 💜✨The Cost of Negative AssumptionsThe stories we tell ourselves shape how we feel. If we default to fear-based narratives, we live in constant worry. These stories impact our relationships, mental health, and even our physical well-being. Chronic stress from negative assumptions can lead to anxiety, sleep disturbances, and emotional exhaustion. But here’s the good news: you have the power to change the script.Rewriting the NarrativeIf you’re going to assume something, why not assume the best? Instead of imagining the worst-case scenario, try this:* Assume your friend is busy, not ignoring you.* Assume your boss’s email is just direct, not a sign of trouble.* Assume your child is safe and just lost signal. It’s not about ignoring reality—it’s about choosing a mindset that serves you rather than harms you. When you shift your assumptions from fear to trust, you free yourself from unnecessary stress.A Challenge for YouFor the next two weeks, challenge yourself to rewrite your inner dialogue. When your mind jumps to a fear-based assumption, pause and ask: Is this true? Is there another possible explanation?Your mind is powerful, but you are the author of your story. Choose to write one filled with faith, optimism, and trust.Let me know in the comments—what’s one story you’ve caught yourself making up recently? And how did you reframe it?Until next time, assume the best and watch how your world changes.Do you have an inspiring story of resilience, healing, or transformation? We’d love to hear from you! Grit, Gratitude, and Growth: How Laura Bratton Reclaimed Her Life After Losing Her Sight

Life has a way of throwing us unexpected challenges. Some are small hurdles, while others shake the very foundation of who we are. For Laura Breton, the challenge came at the age of nine when she was diagnosed with a rare retinal disease—one that doctors said would eventually take her sight. By the time she was in her late teens, the world around her had faded into darkness. But Laura’s story is not one of defeat—it’s one of grit, gratitude, and transformation. The Diagnosis That Changed EverythingImagine being a carefree child, playing basketball, dancing, and doing everything a nine-year-old loves—only to be told that one day, you will no longer be able to see. For Laura, those words didn’t fully sink in at first. She continued her life as usual, unaware of how drastically things would change. Then, during her teenage years, the decline began. The world she once knew slowly blurred until, by eighteen, nearly all of her vision was gone. The loss was not just physical—it was deeply emotional. Laura found herself battling depression, panic attacks, and self-doubt. She felt overwhelmed, telling herself, “I can’t do this.” And yet, piece by piece, she found her way forward. From Darkness to DeterminationWhat helped Laura shift her mindset? A support system that treated her with dignity and normalcy. Her family didn’t lower their expectations because of her blindness—they simply adapted. Her older brother continued to treat her as his sister, not as someone fragile. Her parents still gave her chores, ensuring she remained an active part of the household.“It wasn’t about pretending nothing had changed,” Laura says. “It was about making adjustments while still seeing me as capable.”That shift in perspective was crucial. It taught Laura that limitations are real, but they don’t have to define us.The Turning Point: Learning to Walk with CourageThe defining moment of Laura’s transformation came when she received her first guide dog between high school and college. She spent a month training at a specialized school, learning how to navigate the world in a new way.It was during this experience that she had a revelation: “I have to choose courage.”For years, she had relied on others to help her adjust, but now it was up to her. She had to be the one to pick up the harness and take the first step. And in doing so, she discovered something powerful—her resilience had been there all along.Grit and Gratitude: The Formula for TransformationToday, Laura is a professional speaker and coach, helping others navigate life’s changes using a framework she calls Grit and Gratitude.* Grit is about taking things one step at a time. Some days, it was about getting through just an hour. Then two. Then a whole day. Building resilience happens in small, deliberate steps.* Gratitude isn’t about pretending hardships don’t exist—it’s about acknowledging the pain while also recognizing the strength and support that carry you through it.Laura reminds us that gratitude isn’t about being thankful for suffering. It’s about being thankful for what empowers us through suffering.Owning Your PowerWhen asked if she has fully embraced her life today, Laura says, “Yes. Because that’s where courage comes from.”She no longer fights against the reality of her blindness. Instead, she owns her journey, using it as a force for good. Every day, she helps others face their fears, embrace change, and step into their strength.A Message for Anyone Struggling Right NowIf you are in the middle of a difficult season, Laura’s message for you is simple:You are worthy. The Healing Power of Laughter: How I Reclaimed Joy After Trauma

Have you ever felt like something that once brought you joy was turned against you? For Noreen Braman, laughter was once a source of pain—but it ultimately became her greatest tool for healing. When Laughter HurtsAs a child, Noreen was naturally joyful, always smiling and laughing. But after the death of her father at just 23 years old, her home life changed drastically. Laughter, which had once been a symbol of happiness, became a weapon of control. One of the most painful moments came when she expressed her childhood dream of becoming a singer. Her family encouraged her to sing into a tape recorder, but mid-song, her stepfather interrupted: “With a voice like that, you’re dead already.” The room erupted in laughter. From that moment, laughter became something she feared. For years, anytime she heard people laugh, she assumed they were laughing at her. She struggled with depression and even contemplated suicide. Her story could have ended there—but it didn’t.The Turning PointIn high school, Noreen met a band instructor, Mario DeCarolis, who changed her life. He was always laughing, always kind, and always welcoming. He noticed that she would leave the room whenever laughter filled the space. One day, he asked her why.“You’re laughing at me,” she said.“No, I’m laughing with you,” he replied. That moment planted a seed. Over time, she began to see laughter differently, but it wasn’t until years later that she fully embraced it.Reclaiming Laughter as a Tool for HealingYears later, while working in the mental health field, Noreen’s boss handed her a fax (yes, a fax!) about a training program called Laughter Yoga.“I have no idea what this is,” he said, “but you’re the right person for it.”That moment set off fireworks in her mind. She discovered that laughter wasn’t just entertainment—it was a healing practice. Science backed it up: laughter releases endorphins, reduces stress, and builds resilience. She took the training, started leading laughter workshops, and even studied the psychology of humor at Rutgers. What once caused her pain became her mission. Today, she helps people heal through laughter, proving that even after deep trauma, joy is still possible. How Laughter Can Help You Heal* Laughter is a natural stress reliever. It releases feel-good chemicals that stay in your system long after you stop laughing.* You don’t need jokes to laugh. Laughter Yoga teaches that simply making laughter sounds can trigger the same brain response.* It builds resilience. Even in difficult times, laughter can help us shift our mindset and move forward.* It’s contagious! Surround yourself with people who bring you joy, and notice how your mood changes. You Are More Resilient Than You ThinkNoreen’s story reminds us that our past does not define us. We all have painful experiences, but we also have the power to rewrite our stories. If you’re struggling, take a moment to reflect on the challenges you’ve overcome. What strengths did you show? What moments of joy have carried you through? Healing is a journey, and sometimes, laughter is the best medicine.Ready to reclaim your joy? Start by watching a funny video, reconnecting with a friend who makes you laugh, or even trying a laughter exercise on your own. Your brain—and your heart—will thank you.✨ Connect with Noreen Braman: Visit her website: https://njlaughter.mailchimpsites.com/ to learn more about her workshops, books, and how laughter can transform your life.🎙 Listen to the full conversation: [Insert Podcast Link Here]Share Your StoryDo you have an inspiring story of resilience, healing, or transformation? Manifestation & Mindset: Unlocking the Power to Attract What You Desire

Have you ever felt like no matter how hard you try, your manifestations just don’t seem to come to life? You visualize, create vision boards, repeat affirmations—but still, nothing changes. If that sounds familiar, this episode is for you!In our latest podcast episode, we’re diving deep into the connection between mindset and manifestation—because it’s not just about wishing for what you want. There’s a crucial step that many people overlook: the mindset reset. Why Manifestation Alone Isn’t EnoughThe Law of Attraction teaches us that we attract what we focus on. But here’s the catch: if your subconscious beliefs contradict your desires, you’ll struggle to manifest them. That’s why so many people feel stuck. They say they want abundance, but deep down, they carry limiting beliefs like:* “I don’t deserve this.”* “Money is hard to come by.”* “Success is for other people, not me.”These hidden thoughts block manifestations from becoming reality. That’s why mindset work is just as important as the manifestation process itself. The Missing Link: Mindset ResetIn this episode, we break down The Five-Step Smile Framework and focus on one of the most overlooked steps: Mindset Reset. This means shifting your subconscious beliefs so that they align with what you want to attract. For example, if you’re trying to manifest an extra $5,000 this month, ask yourself:✔️ Do I truly believe I’m capable of making that money? ✔️ Do I feel worthy of receiving it? ✔️ Am I afraid of money or success? If your internal dialogue is filled with doubt, fear, or unworthiness, it’s time for a reset. We talk about practical ways to reprogram your thoughts so that you can manifest from a place of confidence and belief, rather than scarcity and fear.Real-Life BreakthroughsI share my personal journey of overcoming my own money blocks. For years, I told myself, “I don’t need money; I just want to make an impact.” But this mindset kept me stuck. Once I reframed my thoughts—seeing money as a tool for positive change—opportunities started flowing effortlessly. Paid speaking gigs, unexpected offers, and new clients appeared as soon as I shifted my beliefs. And guess what? The same can happen for you!Take Action: What Are You Manifesting? At the end of this episode, I challenge you to reflect on what you’ve already manifested in your life. Success leaves clues—so look back at the amazing things you’ve attracted and break down how you made them happen. This exercise will help you strengthen your manifestation skills moving forward. Are You Ready to Shift Your Mindset? If you’ve ever felt stuck, hopeless, or unsure of how to move forward, Kavita’s story is proof that transformation is possible. The grief spiraled into years of depression, and it wasn’t until her son told her, “Mom, I hate the sound of your voice,” that she realized just how deeply her pain was affecting those around her.“I was emotionally unavailable to my family,” she admits. “I was drowning, and I didn’t even realize it.”The Turning Point: Finding Growth Through Mindset ShiftsDesperate for answers, Kavita spent years searching—reading books, seeking out gurus, and questioning everything she once believed. But it was a business seminar of all things that gave her the breakthrough she needed.A speaker said: “If you’re not growing, you’re dying.” That single sentence hit her hard. She realized that her grief had trapped her in stagnation, and the only way forward was growth.Breaking Free: The Power of Meditation & AffirmationsKavita took action, committing to daily meditation and mindset work. For three years, she practiced a simple 16-minute meditation daily—a practice that completely rewired her thinking. Slowly but surely, the rage and sadness faded, replaced by clarity and peace. She also discovered the power of affirmations and the law of attraction, learning how the energy she put out was shaping her reality. “I realized that my son was mirroring my own depression back to me,” she shares. “The moment I changed my internal state, everything around me shifted.”The Biggest Lesson: We Are in Control of Our RealityKavita now dedicates her life to helping others transform their mindset and break free from limiting beliefs. Her message? Everything we experience is a reflection of our inner world. When we change the way we think, we change our reality.💡 Key Takeaways from Kavita’s Journey: ✅ Healing starts within. Mindset work is not optional—it’s essential.✅ Growth is the only way forward. If you're not growing, you're stuck.✅ Meditation and affirmations can reprogram your mind for success.✅ Your energy affects those around you—change yourself, and your world changes too.Are You Ready to Shift Your Mindset? If you’ve ever felt stuck, hopeless, or unsure of how to move forward, Kavita’s story is proof that transformation is possible. What Happened When I Trusted My Intuition at Gabby Bernstein's Event?

Life has a funny way of surprising us when we least expect it. Recently, I had a moment in New York City that reaffirmed my belief in the power of connection and intuition. Here's how a chance decision brought me face-to-face with a stranger who felt like a kindred spirit.A Spur-of-the-Moment PlanWhile at a meeting, a friend asked why I wasn’t attending Gabby Bernstein’s event that evening. I hadn’t planned on it, but on a whim, I bought tickets with a group of friends. Sometimes, the best plans are unplanned.Meeting a StrangerAt the event, a man sat beside me in an empty seat. I immediately felt a positive energy from him. We started chatting—he was a Broadway actor, and I shared that I’m a medium. Though Gabby’s talk wasn’t about intuition as expected, the connection with this stranger turned out to be the highlight of my evening.A Message from BeyondMidway through, I sensed a grandfatherly presence connected to him. Unsure whether to share, I eventually trusted my instincts. After the event, I shared details that didn’t immediately resonate. We exchanged numbers, took a photo, and parted ways.Validation and ConnectionLater, he texted: “Oh my God, I spoke to my mom, and she confirmed everything you said about my grandfather. You were spot on.” His message gave me chills and reminded me why I do this work—to foster clarity, healing, and connection. This encounter wasn’t just about delivering a message; it was a reminder to pause and connect with those around us. Life’s beauty often lies in these unscripted moments. So, the next time you feel drawn to engage with someone or take a detour, trust it. Magic might be waiting on the other side.As I always say, I can’t make this stuff up. Have you experienced a serendipitous moment that changed your perspective? Declutter Your Mind: The Secret to Finding Clarity and Taking Action

Have you ever felt stuck, unable to move forward with a decision or goal? Maybe you’re trying to implement a new habit, resolve a conflict, or chase a dream, but something keeps holding you back. The truth is, clarity—the kind that helps you take confident steps forward—can only come when your mind is free of clutter. Let’s explore how mindset work can help you break free from mental chaos and create a life of intentional action. Why Clarity is Crucial Clarity is the foundation of all effective decision-making and meaningful progress. Without it, even the smallest choices can feel overwhelming. But here’s the catch: you can’t achieve clarity when your mind is filled with scattered thoughts, doubts, fears, and worries. It’s like trying to navigate a cluttered room—you simply can’t find your way.Think of your mind as a space that needs regular tidying. If it’s packed with unnecessary beliefs and emotions, it’s no wonder you’re stuck. Observing your thoughts, identifying the ones that serve you, and letting go of the rest is the first step toward mental clarity. The Power of Shifting Perspective As the late Wayne Dyer famously said, “Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.” Mindset work is about shifting your perspective to create room for clarity. Let me share a story of one of my clients who experienced this transformation firsthand.A Story of Clarity and Accomplishment This client came to me frustrated. Every year, she set a goal to run a 5K, inspired by her friends’ achievements. Yet every year, she failed to follow through. When we dug deeper into her mindset, it became clear that the goal wasn’t aligned with her true desires. She admitted that she didn’t even enjoy running. She was simply chasing a sense of accomplishment she saw others achieving. Once she realized this, we explored other activities that brought her joy. She loved dancing, so she joined a dance class. Six months later, she performed in a competition and won with her group. Not only did she feel accomplished, but she also found joy in the process. This experience highlights an important lesson: when you gain clarity on what truly motivates you, you can align your actions with your authentic desires. The Steps to Mental Decluttering If you’re feeling stuck or uninspired, it’s time to declutter your mind. Here’s how to start:* Pause and Observe Take a moment to pause and listen to the thoughts filling your mind. What beliefs are holding you back? What thoughts inspire you?* Identify the Truth Separate the “evil witch” thoughts—the ones telling you “you can’t”—from the “warrior” thoughts offering solutions and encouragement.* Reconnect with Authentic Desires Ask yourself: Why do I want this? Does it align with my values and passions? Let go of goals driven by external validation and focus on what truly matters to you.* Take Aligned Action Once you’ve gained clarity, the next steps will naturally fall into place. Create habits and actions that feel appealing and authentic, not forced or obligatory.Clarity is the Key to Transformation Mindset work isn’t about pretending to be positive all the time. It’s about peeling back the layers of mental clutter to uncover your authentic self. When you gain clarity, decision-making becomes easier, action steps become clearer, and progress feels natural. So ask yourself: What’s cluttering my mind right now? How can I align my actions with my true desires? Once you identify the answers, you’ll find the clarity you need to move forward with confidence. Clarity is more than a buzzword; it’s a practice that can transform the way you approach life. Whether you’re striving for a healthier lifestyle, a career change, or a deeper connection with yourself, decluttering your mind is the first step. Take time to observe, understand, and shift your mindset, and watch how your actions align with the life you’ve always wanted. What’s one thought or belief you’re ready to let go of today? Breaking Free from People Pleasing: A Journey to Authenticity

Breaking Free from People Pleasing: A Journey to AuthenticityAre you a people pleaser? If so, grab your favorite beverage and settle into a comfy chair because we’re diving deep into this mindset and, most importantly, how to break free from it.As a recovering people pleaser myself, I know all too well the challenges of unlearning this behavior. But before we jump into solutions, let’s define what it means to be a people pleaser. It’s someone who consistently prioritizes the needs and desires of others above their own, often at the expense of their happiness and well-being.For much of my life, I excelled at people pleasing. I could anticipate others’ needs before they even voiced them and always stepped up to ensure everyone around me was content. But it wasn’t all rainbows and sunshine. Over time, I began to feel resentful, frustrated, and confused. I was exhausted from constantly giving, upset that the effort wasn’t reciprocated, and baffled because this “giving” didn’t bring the joy it was supposed to.Uncovering the RootsThese feelings pushed me to dig deeper, peeling back the layers of my conditioning. I realized this behavior was modeled for me in childhood. I was applauded and validated whenever I sacrificed for others, learning that being “good” meant always putting others first. As children, we crave validation, so we keep repeating behaviors that earn praise. But this conditioning came at a cost. I internalized the belief that my worth was tied to how much I gave. It wasn’t until I became triggered by my own frustrations that I began to question this pattern. I looked around and noticed others who set boundaries, openly shared their thoughts, and still enjoyed strong relationships. It sparked a realization: I, too, could be liked and respected without overextending myself. The Turning PointThe turning point came when I decided to embrace change. I understood that I had trained people to treat me as someone who would always say “yes” and go the extra mile. If I wanted things to be different, the responsibility was on me to rewrite this narrative. At first, stepping out of my comfort zone felt daunting. Saying “no” was hard. But I kept reminding myself of the bigger picture: if I continued to please others at my own expense, resentment would only grow. Slowly, I started practicing boundary-setting.What surprised me most was how people responded. Instead of being upset, many respected me more. Those who truly valued me adapted to my new boundaries. And when I did show up for others, it came from a place of fullness—a genuine desire to give, not an obligation.Lessons Learned* It’s a Learned Behavior: People pleasing isn’t a personality trait; it’s something we pick up and can unlearn. Recognizing this is the first step to change.* Boundaries are Key: Setting boundaries doesn’t make you selfish. It ensures you can give authentically, without depleting yourself.* Seek Long-Term Fulfillment: Instead of chasing short-term approval, focus on the joy that comes from being true to yourself.* Attract the Right People: As you honor your boundaries, you’ll naturally attract those who respect and value you for who you are.Moving ForwardBreaking free from people pleasing is a process, not an overnight fix. It requires self-awareness, patience, and a willingness to challenge old patterns. But the rewards are worth it. By setting boundaries and staying true to yourself, you’ll experience deeper, more meaningful connections—both with others and with yourself.Remember, giving from a place of fullness is infinitely more fulfilling than giving from a place of emptiness. So, as you navigate this journey, keep your eye on the prize: a life of authenticity, balance, and true joy.Share Your StoryDo you have an inspiring story of resilience, healing, or transformation? Embracing the Unexpected: A Story of Connection Beyond the Physical

Have you ever experienced a moment so profound that it stays with you, resurfacing when you least expect it? Recently, I was reminded of such a moment from my past. It took place over 15 years ago when I was working at a bank. At the time, my job required frequent travel between branches, which brought me into contact with many coworkers from different locations. One particular coworker stood out. She was trying desperately to get tickets to a John Edward show. For those unfamiliar, John Edward is a renowned psychic medium who connects audience members with their loved ones who have passed away. At that time, I had no idea who he was or why my coworker was so determined to attend his show. Our conversation, however, left me intrigued. She spoke about the challenges of securing tickets—the waitlists, the expense—and her persistent hope of experiencing a reading. That night, I couldn’t shake the feeling that someone was trying to connect with her. During my morning meditation and automatic writing—a practice where I channel messages—I felt an undeniable presence. Her late husband’s energy came through, and he had messages for her that felt too important to ignore.I wrote down everything he conveyed, even though I wasn’t sure what to do with the message. The details were specific, personal, and beyond my understanding. He mentioned a train whistle, saying it held significance for her. He reassured her that she didn’t need John Edward to connect with him; he was always around her.The next day, I mustered the courage to share this experience with her. I explained my gift and how I felt compelled to pass along her husband’s words. She was surprised but receptive. When I handed her the letter, she read it with tears streaming down her face. She told me about the train whistle—how, years ago, she would hear it moments before her husband arrived home from work. It had become their signal of connection, and even after his passing, hearing that sound brought her comfort. That letter affirmed what she had always felt but hadn’t fully embraced: her husband’s enduring presence in her life. It gave her a sense of peace, reminding her that their bond transcended the physical world. This experience taught me a profound truth: our loved ones continue to guide and support us, often sending signs if we remain open to them. Signs can take many forms—a familiar song, a butterfly, a cardinal, a rainbow, or a moment that stops you in your tracks. They invite us to pause, reflect, and remember those who have passed yet remain energetically connected to us.If you’ve ever wondered whether your loved ones are watching over you, let this story serve as a gentle nudge. Trust your intuition and the signs that resonate with your heart. Whether it’s a whisper on the wind or the sight of something that feels inexplicably familiar, know that you are surrounded by love—both seen and unseen. As we navigate the holiday season, a time often filled with both joy and longing, I hope this story inspires you to seek and cherish these connections. May you feel abundance, love, and compassion from those around you, both here and beyond. Remember, you are never truly alone.Wishing you peace and light.Share Your StoryDo you have an inspiring story of resilience, healing, or transformation? We’d love to hear from you! From Rock Bottom to Radiant Joy: Misha Safran’s Inspiring JourneyLife often throws challenges our way that feel insurmountable. For Misha Safran, her story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the power of embracing transformation. In our recent conversation, Misha shared her incredible journey from deep struggles—including personal loss, physical challenges, and emotional lows—to rediscovering joy, purpose, and peace. Her story is not only inspirational but also deeply relatable for anyone navigating their own path through adversity.Finding Light in the DarknessMisha’s life took a sharp turn when a series of personal tragedies collided with her ongoing health struggles. From being diagnosed with fibromyalgia to losing close family members to cancer, she found herself at what she describes as “the negative zone” on a scale of 1 to 10.“It felt like a tsunami crashing down, a fog I couldn’t escape,” Misha recalled. Yet, even in those dark times, she held onto a small yet powerful belief: the possibility of something better. The Power of Small StepsMisha credits her healing journey to a combination of mindset shifts and actionable steps, including:* Daily Gratitude and Affirmations“I started each day with affirmations like, ‘I am worthy of a prosperous and abundant life.’ It reminded me of my value when I struggled to see it.”* Embracing Spiritual PracticesWhether it was through the Serenity Prayer or finding awe in small moments, Misha leaned on spirituality as an anchor.* Holistic Wellness PracticesFrom acupuncture to dietary changes, she embraced holistic methods to improve her physical and emotional well-being.* Asking for HelpPerhaps most importantly, Misha learned the value of asking for support. “I set up systems with friends and family to help me rise back up when I couldn’t do it alone.”Turning Misery Into MarvelousOne of Misha’s most profound lessons is her philosophy of finding joy even in tough times. Instead of labeling a day as entirely “bad,” she reframed it: “It’s a good day with a lot of crappy moments.”This mindset not only helped her heal but also became the foundation for her coaching and her upcoming program, Laughter to Joy Wellness Experience.Paying It ForwardToday, Misha is on a mission to help one million people feel seen, heard, valued, and understood. Could a Perspective Shift Solve Your Problems?

Today’s episode explores the idea that a simple shift in perspective can often be the key to solving problems that seem impossible to overcome. So, can a change in how we view a situation make all the difference? Many times, when we're stuck in a problem, the solution might not be found by doing more or trying harder. Instead, it could be a matter of looking at the problem from a different angle, seeing it through the lens of someone else, or even stepping back to allow for a fresh perspective to emerge. In my work with clients, I've often found that a lot of problems can be resolved just by helping someone shift their mindset. It’s easy to get trapped in our own point of view, especially when we’re emotionally involved in the situation. Our egos often prevent us from considering how others might see things, but sometimes, that’s exactly what we need to open up to new solutions.I invite you today to think about a problem or situation where you're feeling stuck. Is there another way to look at it? Could there be an angle you haven’t yet considered? If you’re struggling to find it on your own, don’t hesitate to ask someone you trust for their perspective. As Wayne Dyer famously said, "If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."It’s similar to solving a math problem — sometimes, stepping away and returning with fresh eyes helps us spot what we missed earlier. As I work with clients, especially in one-on-one coaching, I often ask them to reconsider the problem in a different light. Could it be that the situation is presenting an opportunity for growth, rather than simply being a hurdle? As a mother, I’ve experienced this firsthand. When faced with challenges with my kids, my instinct was always to fix things, assuming something was broken. But when I began to seek perspectives from other moms who had already raised their children, I realized there was so much more I could learn from their experiences. Seeing my challenges through their eyes helped me move beyond “fixing” and towards more listening, empathy, and finding intuitive solutions. So, today, I invite you to explore a problem that’s currently making you feel stuck. If you can’t find a new perspective on your own, reach out to someone else and ask how they might view the situation. Even just this shift in perspective can often lead to surprising insights. You may find that the problem isn’t as difficult as it seemed, or that there’s a completely new approach waiting to be discovered.Remember, sometimes it only takes one perspective shift to change your attitude — and even the problem itself. Try it out and see what happens. I’d love to hear how it goes for you! Get full access to Chitra Rochlani at thewarriormindset.substack.com/subscribe
