The Two Tongues Podcast explores the most interesting topics that aren't "fit" for popular consumption (or polite dinner conversation). Here you will find honest, unfiltered and unedited conversation between two life-long friends on the state of the world as we see it; politics, religion, mind-altering substances, psychology and philosophy are fair game. Ep 323S6E7 - Spirits of God
EIn this episode Chris brings us Opinion Scholarship on the conflict between monotheism and polytheism. He asks whether these are truly opposing ideas or is there perhaps a shared origin between them? The answer takes us deep into the psychological significance of humanity's ancient pantheons, beyond to the animistic beginnings of all religion and finally into the tried-and-true myths of the Biblical Old Testament. We examine spirits, gods and angels in order to discover what we can know of the unknowable, transcendent God with a capital 'G.' Enjoy ;)

Ep 322S6E6 - A Buddy of Jeff Dahmer
EIn this episode Kyle and Chris reunite after a month-long break to catch up on current events and to explore those ideas that have been occupying our minds as of late. Chris tells the story of his encounter with a stranger who turned out to be one of the childhood friends of the infamous murderer Jeffrey Dahmer. Next, we discuss strange and rare medical conditions including a new one for both of us--Alice in Wonderland Syndrome. And lastly, we discuss a story from the lore of Rome's founding involving the capture of a religious statue from Anatolia and its role in Rome's rise to power. This expands into an exchange about the Great Mother goddess from the Stone Age and the evolution of her worship all the way into modern Catholicism. Enjoy ;)

Ep 321S6E5 - Gandalf the Red Part 9 - Gods All Change Into Serpents In The End
EIn this episode Chris returns to Opinion Scholarship on Carl Jung's Red Book. We discuss why dreams often repeat themes, especially during times of particular stress or anxiety and how Jung believed this is when dreams are most useful and ripe for interpretation. We then move into two of Jung's own visions from the Red Book where we discover repeating themes. These visions circle around Jung's quest for spiritual enlightenment, which runs precisely contrary to his scientific ideals; his struggle between these two motivations and a great revelation to be discovered where this struggle ends. Enjoy ;)

Ep 320S6E4 - Flashes of Insight
EIn this episode Chris describes his fascination with Carl Jung's Red Book and the symbolism-filled stories it contains. He describes Jung's meditative, lucid dreaming-like process whereby he generates them and admits that he has never been able to recreate this process himself. And without Jung's so-called 'active imagination' to aid him, he describes his journey to find his own process. This episode contains 2 epiphanies, which Chris experienced personally and understood to be contents of the Unconscious, which, like Jung's dream images, might be explored. We walk through both epiphanies, step-by-step and the process by which Chris came to understand their meaning. Enjoy ;)

Ep 319S6E3 - Was McCarthy Right
EIn this episode Kyle and Chris discuss a recent interview with the Prime Minister of Greenland and Piers Morgan on the topic of potential U.S. territorial expansion. The interview served as a springboard to critique the biased, negative (and in my opinion unjustified) view the European world seems to hold of the United States and its citizens. While we consistently deflect the tropes "Americans are dumb" and "Americans think they're better than everyone else," etc., it's about time someone holds a mirror to their own ignorance...especially of American culture and government. Next, we switch to the topic of the Cold War and the now infamous example of Jospeh McCarthy and the McCarthy hearings. We read McCarthy's 1950 speech and line-up up his critics against the reality of 2026 America to determine...was he right all along? Enjoy ;)

Ep 318S6E2 - Great Mother Monism - Monotheism in the Stone Age
EThis episode was inspired by an interview with Dr. Margaret Barker on the History Valley Podcast discussing her 2023 book The Great Lady. We begin with Opinion Scholarship on the very earliest known religious images from the Stone Age, which depict a Great Goddess figure and walk through how that image was preserved in later mythology. We then bring Dr. Barker's work to bear on the Biblical figure of Ashera, how her memory was obscured over the development of Judaic monotheism and how the truth of her origin was finally revealed in the Dead Sea Scrolls. Enjoy ;)

Ep 317S6E1 - Schrodinger on God
EIn this episode Chris delivers Opinion Scholarship on the great quantum physicist--Erwin Schrodinger--through the ideas expressed in his 1956 book Mind and Matter. Things get unexpectedly mystical almost immediately as Schodinger discusses the implications of the "observer effect" and the Copenhagen interpretation of Quantum Mechanics. It only gets better from here as Schodinger explores the role of consciousness in physics, the unity of 'mind' and the qualities of mind that are equally qualities of God. Enjoy ;)

Ep 316S5E26 - The Origin of Religion with Gnostic Informant
EIn this episode Chris interviews the gnosis-bringer himself--Neal Sendlak--aka Gnostic Informant. You know him from his riveting documentaries on YouTube where he tracks myths and religious ideas across cultures and eons and from his interviews with critical scholars, but this time we dive deeply into his origin story and into the origin of religion itself! We discuss the ancient Greek "mysteries," psychedelic experience, Neolithic cave paintings and the half-man, half-beast imagery that spans from the Stone Age right up through the classical religions of the Bronze Age. Strap in ladies and gents; this one was real journey! Ep 315S5E25 - Critiquing Racism with a Liberal
EThis episode continues our conversation with a liberal Englishman, and friend of the show, Daniel Torridon of the Onion Unlimited podcast. If you missed part 1, go back and listen to S5E21 titled "The Crusades, Propaganda and Politics with Daniel Torridon." We began with a fiery discussion about Donald Trump, which evolved into a nuanced exchange on our differing values and a recognition of the 'groupthink' and propaganda that keep people occupied with infighting. In this episode we pick up where we left off, taking the topic of racism through the gauntlet of liberal, conservative and libertarian ideology. Did it devolve into name-calling? Did we come to better understand one-another? Or did we just spin our wheels and scream into the abyss? Find out here! Enjoy ;)

Ep 314S5E24 - The Phenomenon of Man with Brian Cranley
EThis episode is a companion to S5E23 on the evolutionary model of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, which incorporates God into an otherwise atheistic scientific theory. Author of The Call of Wonder, Brian Cranley, joins Chris to hash out their thoughts after having freshly read Chardin's work--The Phenomenon of Man--for the first time. We discuss his overarching model of evolution, his notion of God "Omega" and its significance to the model and all the various reasons why he was censured by the Catholic church. You can find more about Brian Cranley on his website: briancranley.com and purchase his book on Amazon: https://a.co/d/cqllhDC Enjoy ;)

Ep 313S5E23 - Teilhard de Chardin - Ontogenesis and the Within of Things
EIn this episode Chris brings us Opinion Scholarship on the legendary Jesuit priest and anthropologist--Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. We explore his landmark book "The Phenomenon of Man" and through it his theistic (and yet heretical) model of evolution. We begin from the moment of Creation, from the Big Bang, and walk through the process of the universe up to the rise of mankind and his unique expression of consciousness. Then the fun begins! We explore Chardin's vision of the direction of evolution, the nature of consciousness and speculations about what the next stages of evolution will bring. Spoiler alert, it's God...the culmination of evolution is the actualization of the divine! Enjoy ;)

Ep 312S5E22 - If America Means Nothing - Varieties of Nationalism
EIn this episode Kyle and Chris discuss a recent interview between two British blokes--Andrew Gold and, self-proclaimed "ethno-nationalist," Steve Laws. They tie this interview to the growing popularity of similar personalities in the U.S., such as Nick Fuentes, and a growing social movement towards nationalism. They discuss the difference between so-called civic nationalism and ethno-nationalism, the obstacles to assimilation and the role genes play in the development of society and culture. Using the subject of genes as a segway, they end the show with a discussion of a bizarre genetic condition--alpha-reductase deficiency--which plagues a small tribe in the Dominican Republic called 'Guevedoces.' Enjoy ;)

Ep 311S5E21 - The Crusades, Propaganda and Politics with Daniel Torridon
EIn this episode Kyle and Chris reunite with their mate across the pond--Daniel Torridon--of the Onion Unlimited Podcast. This one doesn't go quite as planned, when an off-hand remark about the Crusades unexpectedly ignites a tense discussion on politics, Christianity and propaganda. We cover political Islam, Christian morals as a social prescription, free speech and revisionist history. From a discussion of political manipulation, we move to the manipulation of social media algorithms and wrap up with a bit of speculation on the nature of spirit. Enjoy ;)

Ep 310S5E20 - Cannabis and Islam
EIn this episode Kyle and Chris reunite for an open and honest dialogue about the realities of cannabis and its effects, both positive and negative. Is it medicine, a slippery slope into psychological and physiological dependence or a mixed bag with plenty of grey area? They recount their experiences and hold nothing back. The conversation then turns to the topic of Islam and its cultural encroachment in the West. We discuss critical scholarship of the Quran and compare the examples of the Biblical Jesus to that of Muhammad. This topic wouldn't be complete without a critique of the political power games involved and the propaganda finding its way into the news and our social media feed. Strap in! Enjoy ;)

Ep 309S5E19 - Deprogramming Democrats with Lisa Ekman
EIn this episode Kyle and Chris interview author, Lisa Ekman, about her book Deprogramming Democrats & unEducating the Elites: How I Escaped the Progressive Cult. We begin with the biography of a typical American democrat. A middle-class upbringing; graduate degrees and a career in public service; a compassionate soul who just wanted to help her fellow citizen. But then...Lisa unravels her awakening experience where the scales fell from her eyes and she finally saw the dark truth behind the political machine she supported all her life. We ask tough questions and she gives honest answers. Strap in! Buy Lisa's book on Amazon: https://a.co/d/iKR0Jvr Enjoy ;)

Ep 308S5E17 - On the Mysteries - AUDIO FIXED
E**Re-publishing this one with improved audio** In this episode Chris explores the ideas of the ancient Greek, Neoplatonic philosopher--Iamblichus--through his correspondence with an ancient Egyptian priest. Iamblichus does something no philosopher did before him, at least not to such a degree; he questioned religious orthodoxy, expressed skepticism about the legitimacy of religious ritual and sacrifice and even of the priesthood itself. Along the way, however, he's striving to understand the nature of the divine at the deepest level. It turns out, there was no better source for answers to religious questions than the Egyptian priesthood, who benefited from the oldest and grandest religious tradition in all of the ancient world. And what did Iamblichus learn? It's not at all what you'd expect. Enjoy ;)
