The 2023 Mossy Oak Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp This week, Daniel Haas joins Cameron and Andy to introduce Mossy Oak's 2023 Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp and to share an awesome turkey hunting story with Tom Kelly. Daniel is the Director of Brand Marketing for Mossy Oak, so he is in the know about what is going on with Mossy Oak and all of their new projects. They've been quite busy over the past 12 months or so with the 2022 Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp, introducing new clothing lines, reintroducing old clothing lines, rolling out the Mr. Fox turkey vest, and the 2023 Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp, just to name a few things they've had on their plate. Daniel shares some of the history behind the artwork on this year's stamp as well as how much money was raised last year with their first wild turkey conservation stamp and where some of that money is going. In addition to the wild turkey conservation stamp, Daniel shares with us his very recent turkey hunt with Colonel Tom Kelly. Patience Pays Off This week Cameron shares a hunt that is fresh on his mind. The hunt is so fresh it is only a few hours old. This hunt takes place in a river swamp bottom with a couple of turkeys that Cameron thinks he let walk the day before. This is a great hunt in the respect that not only did patience pay off with Cameron's passing on a shot the day before, but also that he had the patience to sit and wait at his original setup spot while the turkey he set up on before daylight flew down, walked off, paired up with a buddy, and came back into the area Cameron was set up in. Turkey Talk with Eddie Salter This week, The Turkey Man, Eddie Salter, joins Cameron and Andy on the show to share an update on his season and some of his most memorable hunts. Eddie talks about being on the TK and Mike videos from the early 1990's, and how much fun he had doing those videos. He also shares the story of how he missed 5 turkeys in one day, and how he also played a part of killing 10 turkeys in one day. We get to hear how he has dedicated this season to his grandchildren, and how they are having a great season. Even his 4 and a half year old grandson has killed a turkey with him this season. Taking Quality Harvest Pictures with Clayton Worrell This week, Clayton Worrell (aka GrizHawk on InstaGram) joins Cameron and Andy to talk about how we can take better quality harvest photos of our turkeys this spring. Clayton is an amazing wildlife photographer who can capture images of wildlife that convey a feeling or emotion that we think the subject animal could be feeling at that moment in time. His images are truly a work of art. Clayton shares with us how we should frame our harvest pictures in a way that we can refer back to that photo decades later and remember that hunt and that turkey. He also shares with us the importance of cleaning up our turkey to show respect to the bird and to get the best pictures that we can get to share on social media. These images very often go on social media and convey an image of us and our pastime to non hunters. We should want that image conveyed to be a respectful and powerful one. Another Piney Hills Turkey Hunt This week, Scott McDonald joins Cameron and Andy on the show to share a turkey hunt he had with Andy in the spring of 2022. This hunt took place on some thick public ground in a tough southern state, but it turned out to be a productive trip for both Scott and Andy as they doubled on a couple of hard gobbling turkeys right around midday. These birds came through the thick woods, split up, and eventually got back together about 45 yards in front of Scott and Andy. It took a lot of patience and trust in their hunting partner to make this hunt a success, but it all paid off as it turned out to be twice as successful as they had hoped. This is a great hunt that will get you fired up for spring. Listen in!

The 2023 Unicoi Custom Callmakers Show Preview with Mark Sharpe This week, Mark Sharpe joins Cameron and Andy to talk about the upcoming 2023 Unicoi Custom Turkey Callmakers Show held at Unicoi State Park in Georgia. This year the show will be held January 13 and 14 of 2023. This show features custom turkey call makers displaying and selling their calls as well as seminars by call collectors and call makers as well. This is one of the premier turkey caller shows in the country, and the event is a fantastic time to immerse yourself in turkey hunting with other turkey hunting nuts to prepare for the upcoming spring turkey hunting season. A Waterlogged Turkey Cameron shares another turkey hunt with us this week to get us primed and ready to eat some Thanksgiving turkey. This hunt took place in what is a very common habitat for many of us hunters east of the Mississippi River. This was in a hardwood bottom that, at the time, was flooded. Cameron found some gobbling turkeys in the area. After sloshing through the water to get to them, he setup, called, and soon had his hat blown off by a loud gobbling Eastern wild turkey. The gobbling in this hunt will get your blood boiling and get you wishing for springtime again. Listen in!

Wild Turkey Updates with Dr. Will Gulsby Dr. Will Gulsby from Auburn University joins Cameron and Andy on the show to update all of us on the progress and the one year findings on the ongoing studies being conducted at by his department. We discuss the male wild turkey gonad study and some of the preliminary results there. We also discuss the gobbling chronology study being done within the state of Alabama, and the very interesting early findings from one year of that study. Creating Better Brood Habitat with Marcus Lashley This week, Cameron and Andy share part of the Alabama NWTF Field Day seminar where Dr. Marcus Lashley talks about brood habitat. The general theme of Dr. Lashley's seminar is that as a whole brood habitat is severely lacking across the US. We all already know that having great nesting habitat is essential to having good hatches, but creating great nesting habitat is extremely difficult to do because there is not one particular habitat that hens are likely to nest in. According to Dr. Lashley better brood habitat is much easier to create because it has several features that are commonly found in the different areas around the US. This is an excellent presentation, and we have part 1 of 2 for you this week. There is definitely something to be learned by all of us from this week's show and next week's show. Listen in!

Most of you know that Mike is a wild turkey biologist with the University of Georgia, and his students are spearheading quite a few studies on wild turkeys. In addition to his full time job of managing his students and grad students, Mike is a turkey hunter. Most of the podcasts and seminars Mike has been on are purely about the biology of the wild turkey, but this week Mike joins the show to discuss some tactics he uses to hunt wild turkeys during the late season. Mike's vast knowledge of the bird itself gives him a different take on hunting turkeys during the early, mid, and late parts of the season. A Hardwod Hills Turkey Hunt This week Cameron shares one of his 2022 spring turkey hunts with us. This is a hunt that took place pretty early in the spring out of state in the hardwood hills. Cameron was nearing the end of the time he allotted for himself to hunt that particular morning, and he struck a tom while running and gunning. With a little strategy he was able to seal the deal and put some meat in the freezer. Also, in this episode, Cameron shares a story of his Osceola hunt this spring that involved a gun malfunction. Talking Turkeys and Life with The Critter Gitter This week, Cameron and Andy have Braedan Henagar, aka The Critter Gitter, on the show to talk about turkeys and turkey hunting. Braedan is a 16 year old young man who lives in Ohio and is absolutely gung ho on all types of hunting. Braedan's favorite animal to hunt is, of course, wild turkeys. He has lots of other hobbies like riding 4 wheelers and collecting reptiles as well. Braedan and his parents also started a non-profit whose cause is to educate others on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and to find a cure. The cause is near and dear to Braedan and his parents because Braedan has Duchenne.
