The Houston Rockets are ready to make some noise in the NBA this season. They showed up to give us an amazing season opener. And even though they lost, there is a strong sense of optimism for this team if this is how they’re gonna play. What a week it’s been since we’ve last pod. The Astros swept the Rangers, and kept the boot in Houston for the 9th straight year. The Astros lost Yordan to injury and are announcing today that Paredes is set to return to the team. (And the Texans lose a MNF game and don’t shake any allegations made about the team this offseason.) The Houston Astros brought their own fireworks to LA for 4th of July! The Astros hand the LA Dodgers the biggest L they’ve ever had at Dodger Stadium (aka Daikin Park West), beat them in a close one, and keep the dingers coming in their stint in Chevez Ravine. Incomprehensible indeed. The University of Houston Cougars just barely miss out on winning it all. The Astros find some more of the struggles that have been plaguing them lately. And the Rockets go from media darlings to heels because they were too mean to Steph Curry. Let’s go, Houston! The Coogs stunned everybody by never giving up and playing their game and fighting back to a win against Duke last night. It’s opening day, y’all! Top Ten Lists, memes and podcast! Oh, my. Your Houston Astros win the first game of the season against Juan Soto and the NY Mets. (And boy was Soto threatening…all the way to the last pitch, holy schnikes.) The Astros Ace Framber Valdez FRAMBOOZLED the Mets for 7 shut out innings and the Astros offense got enough timely hits to secure the game. Cam Smith made his MLB debut and got his first hit. Jose Altuve made his outfield debut and looked like he was having fun. And we can all breathe a little easier in H-Town (not because of pollen or smog) with the Astros getting an opening day win.
