Astros Lose Series/Issac Paredes to IL
The Astros health continues to get worse as another consistent member of the team goes down with an injury this week. Space Cadet Paul takes a look back at a rough series in Seattle and takes a look at an even rougher IL list. We talk McCullers, we talk Paredes and we even get around to trying to look forward to a series against Arizona. We bust out the Official Space Cadet Sports Houston Astros Panic Meter and ask: is it time to start panicking? Because it kinda seems like a lot of y’all are…What do you think, folks. What will the roster look like this time next month? Let’s hope healthier. Vamos vamos Astros Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe

All-Star Games & A Needed Break For The Astros
A home-run-off to end the All Star Game? We’re here for it. We talk some midsummer classic and then get to how the Astros limped to the end of the first half. We then do our best to turn the page and look ahead to tomorrow’s series against the Seattle Mariners. What did you think of the ASG or are you as optimistic as Paul is about the second half? Astros Look To Bounce Back In Series Against Rangers
A series to forget follows a series I’ll never forget. But that’s baseball, folks. We talk about some…lowlights from the series against the Guardians. Paul gets on his soapbox and tries to find some nuance (instead of a scapegoat) surrounding the Astros injury and injury reporting woes. Spoiler alert: we think they need better PR. Also, Brice Matthews has been called up to the show. Is the future 2nd baseman already here?! We then quickly turn to look ahead against a pitching showcase of a series against the team from Arlington. Get your chips ready, cuz this Texas Hold Em showdown is gonna have all the aces. And finally we ask: are the Houston Rockets a ‘championship of bust’ team? Let’s get into it and get a dose of chill as I try to cool off all those hot takes! Your Houston Astros Sweep the LA Dodgers
The Houston Astros brought their own fireworks to LA for 4th of July! The Astros hand the LA Dodgers the biggest L they’ve ever had at Dodger Stadium (aka Daikin Park West), beat them in a close one, and keep the dingers coming in their stint in Chevez Ravine. Altuve had a series, Walker had a series, Caratini hits ANOTHER grand salam. Haters will say the Dodgers were injured. But the Astros have a starting rotation on the IL too! It was a much needed dose of happiness for your boy in a though time. Dodgers fans will still remember 2017 but seem to forget what their team was supporting last week?? Oof.We are sending all of our love and support to Texas and everyone effected by the floods. We are also supporting people being impacted by ICE raids. Right now there is so much going on, but we’re all human and should be there for each other. We have donated our time and money to both of these causes. If you need help, let me know. If you’d like to help, let me know. Peace and love. Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe

We talk about the Astros last two series against the Phillies and Cubs and check in before they Stros play the Rockies and Dodgers on the road. Before wrapping up we talk about the hottest thing in H-Town: Rockets Rumors. What’s on the rumor stove today? Checking In From L.A. & Kevin Durant Is A Rocket!!
The podcast took an unexpected break so we check in from Los Angeles and talk about the current events in my backyard that everybody seems to be talking about recently. We then get off the soapbox to talk about the biggest news story (in the sports world): Kevin Durant was traded to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, and picks! Astros Sweep A’s (two game lil broom)
Jose Altuve and the Houston Astros brought the offense in this two game series and beat the 10-Run-Jinx allegations. Diesel shoved and LMJ got a dozen strikeouts. But sadly, we have to also discuss injuries. Ronel Blanco is set to have season ending surgery next week and while we saw it coming, it still stings. Also, Christian Walker has been on a tear, but he was hit by a pitch and was lifted from the game. What does this mean for the heart of our lineup and starting rotation? We’ll get into that and more and this episode!Vamos vamos Houston Get full access to Space Cadet Sports at spacecadetsports.substack.com/subscribe

Astros Take Series Against Seattle
Your Houston Astros won their Memorial Day Weekend series against the Mariners. You know, when the Astros go to Seattle it‘s their World Series; but when they come to Houston it’s just Star Wars weekend. How are the Astros faring recently and who is pitching this upcoming series and more on this episode of the pod. Astros Injuries, rotations and more!
I can’t answer that question, to be clear. I don’t think baseball can, or they’d try to save the influx of arms that are on the IL. While this is a league-wide problem, let’s look at the problem that it has created for the Houston Astros going forward. We also rant about the offense having problems as well and the big injury that is hurting it this season. Who do you think will be in the rotation? Will the Astros take the series against Seattle? Astros Lone Star Series Preview/Houston Sports Check-in
Put on your tinfoil hats, because we’re gonna talk about the NBA draft lottery. In this episode Paul talks conspiracy (with a hint of checking in with reality). We also discuss the potential big names that the Rockets are tied to in the rumor mill right now. We also check out the Houston Texans 2025 schedule and look at some matchups that we’re excited for. And we end the podcast looking ahead to the Astros taking on the North Oklahoma team for a four game series starting today. We look at the pitching matchups and project a big need for the team to be successful this upcoming week. Let us know what trade you want for the Rockets this offseason. And we’re back! On this episode of the pod: we talk about being busy and taking a week off, we discuss the Rockets after taking some time to feel emotions, we look at the Astros pitching rotation and check in with where the Astros are this season. And Paul and Jesse talk about the foolishness of clowns on the internet, making adjustments and sketch comedy. A special treat since there was a lack of pods lately. Draymond is Draymond and Warriors fans are Warriors fans, but the Rockets stepped up their game to show that this is the series that I thought it could be. We also check in with your Houston Astros to talk about the two series I missed when I went out of town. (Don’t fret, my pet; I caught up on all my viewing to discuss with y’all.) Incomprehensible indeed. The University of Houston Cougars just barely miss out on winning it all. The Astros find some more of the struggles that have been plaguing them lately. We check in with your emotions and talk about the games and try to give you some hope, perspective and a little humor to get you through your day, drive, workout or just lounging around the house trying not to eat, drink or cope your way to happiness. Astros Spring Training Preview: Infielders
Since we’ve announced we’re going to preview the Astros Spring Training roster the Astros roster has been in flux! Since just last week the Astros have traded RHP Ryan Pressly and are in negotiations with 3B Alex Bregman and IF Jorge Polanco. So of course, this makes it the perfect time to breakdown the Astros infield going into Spring Training. But folks, the infield is looking good. Let’s take a look at the projected infield. P.S. I didn’t really talk too much about the non-roster invitees because most of the attention is on how the pros shake out. But we are excited to see Brice Matthews and Cam Smith this year as well as Jesus Bastidas, Tommy Sacco Jr and Zack Short; even if they are all even more of long shots to make the team with another veteran potentially joining the roster. Bregman Open To Return To Houston
Right after I posted my Astros outfielders podcast episode the world blew up with news about a story that I felt was fake: potential left fielder Jose Altuve. Per Chandler Rome and Bob Nightengale, the Astros have been pushing to resign Bregman. They have also been pushing to find a trade partner for Ryan Pressly to help create cap space to sign Bregman. However, the stumbling block is, firstly: Press has a no-trade-clause. Whatever trade the Astros can dream up can be squashed if Press doesn’t want to go. That’s what he negotiated for. You can’t hate that. And secondly: if we re-sign Bregman that puts the newly signed replacement, Issac Paredes, in a tough spot. To help solve this dilemma Astros 2nd baseman Jose Altuve has declared that he’ll move to left if that means Bregman is back on the team. While this seems like some click-bait type mess there are real journalists reporting it and the players are the sources. Will the Astros be able to pull this off? I was highly uncertain last night, but today I see the path…even if it is an unlikely one. Like the kid in Angels In The Outfield would say, “it could happen.” While not highly probable, I can see Bregman forcing Boras to take the deal. And if, IF, the trade is right I can see Ryan Pressly with a new team. But honestly, I say you do the deal either way. Even if Press doesn’t want to go. Here’s hoping, Houston. It could happen.
