Episode 329: Boone Goes Nuclear, Winning Streak Ends, But Yanks Take Series In Toronto
EThe Yankees' winning streak finally came to an end Wednesday night, but not before the Yankees secured the series victory against the Blue Jays. We also saw Aaron Boone lose his mind at the umps, very reminiscent of the "f-ing savages" rant. Everything has been clicking for this team, with even guys like Gleyber beginning to hit their strides again. Finally, Tommy gives his take on the young fan who received an Aaron Judge home run ball from a Blue Jays fan who caught it, and how the entire thing was insanely overblown. Episode 328: 9 in a Row - Best Team in Baseball
EThe Yankees continued to employ their new strategy of not losing this weekend by sweeping the Royals. Aaron Judge is back to playing like a full blown MVP and it’s awesome. Aaron Boone is a managing like a guy who knows these early games are important. The Yankees are winning in a lot of different ways, but Sunday stood out to Hubbs and Marty. Michael King is actually the best reliever in baseball. Vibes are sky high. We end the show revealing our fourth edition of ‘Earning Your Pinstripes’. Episode 327: Bird Huntin' - Yankees Sweep Homestand And Move Into 1st Place
EThe Yankees took care of business against the Guardians and the O's, winning 6 straight to cap off a dominant homestand. Anthony Rizzo has officially been crowned the King of the Short Porch after hitting 3 HRs on Tuesday and becoming the current MLB HR leader. DJ and Judge are both on hot streaks and the pitching remains stellar. Right now this team looks phenomenal and there's truly not much to complain about for once. Finally, we discuss the mysterious letter that, to the dismay of Red Sox, Astros, and Mets fans, revealed absolutely nothing about the Yankees being involved in some major cheating scandal. Episode 326: Fun And Chaos - Yankees Sweep The Guardians, Fans Wage War Against Cleveland, Marty Almost Gets An Entire Airport Shutdown
EThe Yankees had themselves a great weekend sweeping the Guardians and getting an ace-like start from Gerrit Cole. DJ continues to remind us how hurt he was last year by hitting everything in sight. Fans in the outfield caused chaos after Gleyber’s walkoff on Saturday by throwing trash on the field at the Cleveland players. IKF might actually be just what this team needed. Amazon Prime games stink. Chad Green has to stop getting put in high leverage spot. Michael King is absurdly good. Nestor is the best and has gained super powers. We break out the 3rd edition of ‘Earning Your Pinstripes’ where Marty reveals he almost got arrested for suspected terrorism. All that and more on today’s show. Episode 325: Gerrit Cole May Need a Shrink, Joey Gallo Needs God - Yankees Fail to Sweep Detroit
EThe Yankees won the series against Detroit, but it definitely wasn't a victory to feel good about. Gerrit Cole failed miserably once again, this time having the worst start of his career, lasting only 1.2 innings after loading the bases walking the bottom of the Tigers' order. Something is mentally wrong with Cole and we think the only solution is for him to come on the pod and have a group therapy session with us. Joey Gallo continues to be an absolute disaster at the plate, seriously making Yankee fans wonder if he should just be cut from the team. The final game of the series saw the internet blow up at Aaron Boone's decision to intentionally walk Miguel Cabrera despite him being one hit away from 3,000. If you're mad at the Yankees intentionally walking Miggy, despite it CLEARLY being the correct play, you can go pound sand. Finally, we discuss the reemergence of guys like DJ and Sevy, and how good it is to see them play consistently. Episode 324: Yankees Offense is Maybe Worse Than Ever - Easter/Passover/Ramadan Ruined
EThe Yankees scored runs in three innings combined all series vs Baltimore has they drop 2 of 3. It’s bad. The worst team OPS thru 10 games in 30 years. Joey Gallo and Gleyber have no idea what to do. Friday may have been the most unwatchable game in history. There were bright spots. Jose Trevino needs to play more. Nestor Cortes Jr. is a marvel. Michael King is lockdown. We break it all down and reveal the 2nd edition of ‘Earning Your Pinstripes’. Episode 323: The Yankees Need To Start Walking Vladdy Guerrero Jr.
EVladdy Guerrero Jr. strolled into Yankee Stadium Wednesday night and blasted not one, not two, but THREE bombs into the night. Stop pitching to this man. Gerrit Cole was better than his Opening Day start, but still not ace-like against this Jays lineup. The Yankees fought back, but Stanton’s fly ball just missed being a homer. We listen to John Sterling’s whiff of a call and have our hearts sink more. We praise our God Nestor Cortes Jr. for being awesome. Hubbs addresses Aaron Hicks productive few games. We reflect back on how cool flip-up sunglasses were growing up as kids and how they just made you play better. Clayton Kershaw was pulled from his perfect game after 7 innings with only 80 pitches thrown and it’s an embarrassment to the sport. Hubbs’ girlfriend may be a jinx at Yankee games and TJ was left off Dave’s hate list. All that and more in today’s show. Episode 322: Yankees Take 2/3 from Boston + The Debut of ‘Earn Your Pinstripes’
EThe Yanks took the first series of the year, winning 2 of 3 vs. Boston. Rizzo and Stanton shined all weekend, while the bullpen really stepped up. Ron Marinaccio made his MLB debut and won us over. There are some problems, mainly Joey Gallo and Aaron Hicks. What are these guys doing? Is IKF a bad shortstop? Gerrit Cole blamed his poor start on Billy Crystal which didn’t sit well with us. A fan on Saturday took our breath away. Marty doesn’t believe the word ‘ovation’ should be spelled how it is leading to an outrageous moment. Also the long awaited debuted of ‘Earn Your Pinstripes’ really took on a life of its own. Episode 321: Yankees Walk It Off On Opening Day, But Don't Extend Judge
EA good day and a bad day in the life of a Yankee fan. The good: the New York Yankees are 1-0 after a walk off win off the bat of Josh Donaldson, to beat the Red Sox on Opening Day. The Bad: the Yankees failed to extend Aaron Judge, and he will play the rest of this season with uncertainty about his future. Just another emotional rollercoaster day in the life of a Yankee fan. It feels so good to have the Yankees back in our life. Hubbs, Tommy and Marty break down the day, and take a look at the rest of the weekend. Episode 320: Full Season Preview + Predictions
EThe 2022 MLB season is just two days away and we're here to give our full season preview for the Yankees, as well as recap the entire offseason to see how the team stacks up against the rest of the AL East. We also discuss recent news such as Greg Bird somehow returning to torment us, and how Higgy has suddenly decided to become Barry Bonds. To close out the episode, we continue our annual tradition of predicting random stat categories to see who owes the rest of the gang a nice dinner by season's end. Turns out we didn't learn anything from last year, as we once again struggle to comprehend how a snake draft works. Episode 319.5: Brian Cashman Blames Yankees WS Drought On Astros Cheating Scandal
EBrian Cashman delivered one of the most tone-deaf quotes we've ever heard, effectively blaming the Yankees' WS drought and all of his failures as GM on the Astros' cheating scandal. We got so frustrated by what he said that we felt compelled to give our immediate reaction in this impromptu mini episode of the pod. We also talk about baseball games being broadcast on the Amazon Prime streaming service, and how watching games with huge delays is a nightmare for those who cover games. Episode 319: Luke Voit Traded, Judge's Extension Talks, The Mysterious Letter + New Baseball Rules
EIn this loaded episode of the pod, we discuss topics such as Luke Voit's departure from the team after being traded to Slam Diego, Brian Cashman getting absolutely humiliated by the Minnesota Twins after they signed Carlos Correa, Aaron Judge's free agency looming with seemingly no extension in sight, and many more. Feels good to actually have a lot of baseball news to talk about for once. Episode 318: Anthony Rizzo Back To The Yankees + An Interview With Matt Holliday
EThe Yankees re-signed Anthony Rizzo to a 2-year deal, leaving us to wonder how much better this team currently is compared to last season's. For Brian Cashman to have spent $258 million in order to put THIS team together, shows how much of a pathetic GM he truly is. The Yankees are also dealing with drama surrounding guys on the team like Aaron Judge, who are subject to being ineligible to play in home games due to the NYC's ridiculously stupid vaccine mandate which makes zero sense for athletes playing an outdoor sport like baseball. We also have former Yankee and 7-time All Star, Matt Holliday on the show, where he talks about his time with the Yanks, his take on the Astros cheating scandal, and his new journey coaching his son, Jackson. EMERGENCY POD: Gary Sanchez and Gio Traded To The Twins For Josh Donaldson and Two More Players
EThe Yankees pulled off a crazy trade out of nowhere, sending Gary Sanchez and Gio Urshela to the Twins in exchange for Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Ben Rortvedt. We share our instant reactions to the news and try to wrap our heads around what the heck just happened. You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Episode 317: Actual Progress With The CBA? + The Shift Is Gone
EAfter weeks and weeks of watching the MLBPA and team owners go at it with no end in sight, we may FINALLY be close to the end. During this episode's recording session, we react live to Jeff Passan's tweet about the International Free Agent draft being agreed upon, one of the final barriers to an agreement being reached and ending the lockout. In other news, we discuss the defensive shift being banned, a pitch clock being implemented, and larger base pads being used, all starting in 2023. Lastly, we talk about what we think some of the worst words in existence are, which we realize there are quite a few of. Episode 316: Baseball Is Cancelled And All Manfred Can Do Is Laugh
EAfter months of failed negotiations between the MLBPA and team owners, the season has officially been delayed, with the first two series of the year cancelled at the very least. On top of that, Rob Manfred continues to show why he will go down as one of, if not the, worst MLB commissioners of all time with an embarrassing press conference in which he literally laughed at the current state of baseball. Baseball fans deserve better and seeing Manfred treat the whole situation as a joke is nothing short of a slap to the face. Besides that, we discuss the prospect of guys like Bryce Harper playing in Japan should the season be postponed, and whether or not Marty's "miraculous" non-stick pan actually works. Episode 315: Interview With Mike King (Featuring His Sister, Olivia King)
EThis week, we actually have a real interview! Our pal, Mike King, joins us to talk about his thoughts on the lockout, his freak finger injury involving dumbbells, and how hard he's been trying to switch jersey numbers. We're also joined later in the show by Mike's sister, Olivia, as she shares with us what it was like creating Mike's walk-out song and having her work played at Yankee Stadium. EIn this episode of the pod, we're joined by Phil Hughes, otherwise known as Barstool Editor-In-Chief, Coley Mick! We discuss a plethora of topics such as what MLB teams are going to do once the lockout ends, the truth behind the movie "Moneyball", and which nation would be the easiest to take land from. Huge thanks to Phil, always a treat to have a former Yankee star on the pod. Episode 313: The Most NSFW Episode In The History Of This Program + Our Favorite (Not Best) Yankee SPs Of Our Lives
EIn this episode of the pod, we truly went off the rails. We talk about the worst things any of us have ever done in our lives, how we cheated in school, as well as have an incredibly lengthy and detailed debate on what's the best way to jerk off. As far as baseball-related discussions go, we talked about the Freddie Freeman rumors and who we think should be our starting first baseman. We also named our favorite Yankee SPs based on how much we liked watching them over the years. Please for the love of god, end this lockout, Manfred. Episode 312: Catching Up With Our Pal Clarke Schmidt + Serious NFT Talk
EClarke Schmidt joins the show once again to talk about all sorts of random topics, both baseball and non-baseball related. We ask him about his take on the CBA negotiations and what it's like for the players to have the season and Spring Training be put on hold. We also talk to him about how his offseason's been going and what his expectations are for himself on the team going forward. Clarke also gives his opinions on the league using an automated strike zone and pitch clock, and how that impacts both pitchers and hitters. Unrelated to baseball, we delve into the world of NFTs and crypto, discussing what we think will be the next big investment craze. Tommy also tries his best to get Clarke on board with his selfie NFTs, unsurprisingly. All this on more on today's episode of the pod. Episode 311: David Ortiz Wins The Popularity Contest
EIn this episode of the pod, our spiral into madness at the hands of the lockout continue. We discuss the results of the Hall of Fame vote and the hypocrisy of baseball writers refusing to vote for guys connected to steroids like Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, and ARod, but at the same time will turn a blind eye towards David Ortiz. We also had Tommy take an IQ test to see how he compares to the rest of the Short Porch crew, as well as have Marty play Wordle for the first time ever to see if his brain can handle it. Outside of the baseball world, we discuss the NFL playoffs and how devastating the Packers' loss was to Hubbs. We finally round out the show by answering some fan-submitted questions. Despite the lack of baseball news, we make it work as always. Outro song: "Set Me Free One Day" (via APM Music Library)You can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Episode 310: MLB Owners Are Bums
EThe MLB lockout has no end in sight, leaving all of us baseball fans with nearly nothing new to talk about. That being said, we discuss a variety of random topics on this episode of the podcast, ranging from the Yankees' official signing of Roderick Arias, to who should or should not be a part of this year's Hall of Fame class. We go through the list of hall of fame nominees and share our picks, while also discussing the hypocrisy of baseball writers voting for certain steroid users while disregarding others. We also branch out into the NFL, giving our predictions and recaps of the playoff landscape. Episode 309: Yankees Breaking Gender Barriers + Kay-Rod to ESPN?
EThe offseason rumor mill remains quiet due to ongoing CBA negotiations, but the wheel may start turning again, as discussions between the MLBPA and owners resume today. We discuss the Mets hiring Eric Chavez away from the Yankees, which some fans are making a way bigger deal about than it needs to be. The Yankees also named Rachel Balkovec as the new manager of their Single-A affiliate, the Tampa Tarpons, breaking the gender barrier as the first female manager of a professional baseball team. We also give our takes on David Cone joining Sunday Night Baseball, as well as Arod teaming up with Michael Kay to create their own version of the Manningcast. Finally, we round out the show by answering some of your guys' voicemails. Episode 308: Should We Just Murder Marty?
EIn our first pod of 2022, we talk about pretty much all there IS to talk about surrounding the Yankees lately. We discuss the Yankees' brass being embarrassed by their Minor League affiliate running a "pizza rat" promotion back in 2018. We talk about the Yankees' strategy of signing young superstars like Roderick Arias in International Free Agency to get around MLB Draft disadvantages. We also come to the conclusion that ever since Marty was born, society as a whole has just continued to get worse and worse, making us wonder if we'd be doing the world a favor by just offing him now. Finally, we take your guys' voicemails and demonstrate how seriously we take "Would-You-Rather" questions when asked. EIn this special episode of The Short Porch, Clint Frazier joins us for his first ever podcast appearance since being released by the Yankees and signing with the Chicago Cubs. He shares with us his side of the story regarding his battles on and off the field, as well as his relationship with guys like Cashman, Judge, Gardy, and more. He also talks about the infamous interaction he had with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively back in April. We discuss his move to Chicago and what are some of the biggest factors that led him to sign there. We also learn about his feud with baseball writer, Randy Miller, and how insane it is to deal with the New York media as a member of the Yankees. And at long last, we FINALLY learn the origin of the four-finger celebration that was done by the Yankee players. Huge thanks to Clint for hopping on with us, we wish him the best as he gets a fresh start on a different ballclub. Episode 304: Anthony Volpe/Minor League Hype With Eli Fishman
EWe had Yankees minor league aficionado Eli Fishman on the show straight from his dorm room. Eli breaks down all the hype the Yankees have going on in their farm system and how awesome Anthony Volpe truly is. He gives a great idea of what’s to come with new hitting coach Dillon Lawson. We also get an idea of where Eli came from and why he needs to become the Brian Windhorst of Jasson Dominguez. Also Clint Frazier pissed some Yankee fans off with some tweets. Episode 303: The Yankees Continue To Do Nothing While Every Free Agent Goes Off The Board And We're Supposed To Remain Calm?
EIt's only December 1st but there's already been a TON of action in the offseason and players are moving around fast. Apparently the Yankees didn't get the memo. With guys like Corey Seager, Max Scherzer, Javy Baez, and Starling Marte all heading to different squads next year, the Yankees are left with fewer and fewer options to improve the current roster. Carlos Correa seems highly unlikely given his price tag, leaving us with guys like Trevor Story and Andrelton Simmons as our options for a SS replacement, so that's great! We also discuss the Yankees' potential targets in the trade market like Matt Olson and Bryan Reynolds, since Hal refuses to spend any money on free agents. We also talk about Gary Sanchez getting tendered, while guys like Clint Frazier and Rougned Odor find new homes elsewhere. It's gotten to the point where we seriously need to consider boycotting this team and refusing to go to any games. Yankee fans need to start fighting back. To cap off the show, we take a bunch of your voicemails, sharing the anger and frustrations that you probably have with this joke of a franchise. Episode 302: We Are Completely All Over The Place
EThe offseason rumor mill continues to chug along, as the Yankees are still reportedly talking to the camps of both Carlos Correa and Corey Seager. In recent news however, Correa made some harsh comments towards Derek Jeter's defensive career, claiming Jeter did not deserve any of the Gold Glove awards he won. Understandably, many Yankee fans took exception to his quote and started to question whether Correa's villainous persona is something they want on the team. We also find out how desperate teams are during this year's pitching market, with Justin Verlander returning to Houston on a massive 1-year/$25 million gamble from the Astros, and the Angels signing Noah Syndergaard to a 1-year/$21 million dollar deal. Brett Gardner also reportedly wants to play again in 2022, making us seriously doubt that we'll ever get rid of this man from our lives. We also discuss the recent awards season, debating whether or not it was a good thing that Cole was snubbed for AL Cy Young and what it truly means to be an "MVP" of the league. Finally, we thought it'd be appropriate to comment on a certain Twitter "reporter" that got outed for sharing fake Matt Olson trade rumors in hilarious fashion, hopefully he never makes a resurgence. Episode 301: Matt Olson? Correa? Seager? Verlander? The Yankees Offseason Rumor Mill is in Full Throttle.
EWe’ve got a big week of Yankees storylines to filter through on the show. Brett Gardner is now officially a free agent and someone actually decided to pay Andrew Heaney $8.5 million to pitch for them in 2022. The Matt Olson trade rumors are heating up big time as the Yankees debate who should be manning first base next season. Brian Cashman talked to reporters at the GM Meetings and shared lots of info including the fact that he’s already contacted two free agent shortstops agents (Correa & Seager). Who do you want? We further debate. The Yankees also had scouts at Justin Verlander’s showcase and have reported interest. Luis Rojas is expected to become the Yankees next 3rd base coach with Eric Chavez also being interviewed for a position. Tommy learns what dryer sheets are as well. Episode 300: All Over The Place With Joba Chamberlain
ETo celebrate hitting 300 episodes of the podcast, we brought back one of our all-time favorite guests on the show: Joba Chamberlain! We talk with him about the Braves' World Series victory and what he thinks of the current and future landscape of baseball. He shares with us from his perspective what it was like to win a World Series title and the crazy days that followed. We also ask him about his thoughts on this current Yankees team and get some great stories about his time spent playing with veteran guys like Jeter and Arod. Finally, we wrap up the show with a long discussion on whether or not chocolate is considered candy, because we only focus on the most important issues on this show, of course. Thank you to everyone for supporting us through 300 episodes (for better or worse) and here's to many more going forward! Episode 299: Brett Gardner vs. Gerrit Cole? Correa vs. Seager? Offseason Life Moving Along
EThe World Series is upon us! Thank god we're not forced to suffer through watching the Red Sox compete in it. Meanwhile in the Yankees newsphere, according to a recent tweet from Bob Klapisch, Anthony Rizzo is reportedly eager to return to the Yankees in 2022. Question is, do we want Rizzo back or should the team look to trade for Matt Olson? Klapish also made headlines calling out the superstitious habits of Joey Gallo, which some fans thought went too far. We also discuss the recent drama between Gardy and Cole following a prank that Cole did not take kindly to. After putting it off for a few weeks, we tally up the final results of our regular season predictions to see who owes the gang dinner. Finally, we round off this long pod with some voicemails, some of which were serious while the others were most certainly not. Episode 298: Aaron Boone Is Coming Back For THREE MORE YEARS
EOur worst fears have been confirmed as the Yankees re-signed Aaron Boone to not one, not two, but THREE more years AND a club option for a fourth year. We discuss the insanity that is Cashman's iron grip on the entire organization, as well as what needs to be done to avoid having a repeat of this past season. We also answer some of your voicemails, many of which shared our frustrations with the recent news and press conference. God help us all. EThe Yankees are reportedly leaning on bringing back Aaron Boone. The Red Sox are in the ALCS against the Astros. Life is hell for all of us right now. We rant how if this doesn’t embarrass the organization to shake things up then nothing will. Hubbs wants Michael Fishman and his team of nerds gone and replaced by better nerds. Tommy cannot fathom how Boone could be back. Mush refuses to believe Dusty Baker invented the high 5. We run through the Yankees arbitration eligible guys and who they should make offers to as we figure out how to fix this team in one offseason. The bullpen continues to be lights out and now with the the return of Lasagna they are at an optimal level. Aaron Judge continues to mash despite a busted pinky. The Baltimore Orioles are now forever our great pals after what they did to the Sox this weekend. All of this thanks to a magical turtle named Bronxie who was adopted right before this hot streak. Episode 293: SO GOOD, SO GOOD: YANKEES SWEEP THE RED SOX IN FENWAY
EThe Yankees played the Boston Red Sox this weekend in Fenway. They won every single game. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday all victories where they scored more runs than the Red Sox. It was glorious, it was euphoric, it was spectacular. Giancarlo Stanton now owns Fenway Park after an unbelievable series. The Yankees are now ahead of Boston for the number 1 spot in the AL Wild Card. Sunday night’s game was ridiculous with dropped fly balls, dropped strike 3s, Tyler Wade not sliding on a caught stealing, clutch go ahead hits by Judge and Stanton, fire alarm delays. Oh yeah and our pals Joe West and Adam Ottavino had huge nights for the Yankees. We break it all down and also discuss a new way to fix baseball. EThe Yankees actually did their job this week and swept Texas to pull in front of Toronto for the 2nd WC spot. It wasn’t easy, but they got it done. Gary had himself a big week to shut us up. Luis Severino finally made his return to a big league mound and he looked awesome. We break down the series and look ahead to Boston. Also we do an updated trust tree and look at our current standings for our season long predictions. Episode 291: Gerrit Cole Booed Off The Mound, Season Continues To Swirl Down The Drain
EThe Bronx faithful booed Gerrit Cole off the mound on Sunday as the Yankees lost their series to the Indians. Cleveland scored 11 runs in back to back games, demoralizing the Yankees. Gary Sanchez’s days with NY are numbered and it couldn’t be more clear. We’ll never root for losses and want this team to make the playoffs, but it actually might be better off for them to miss it and overhaul everything. Times are bad, drink our tears. EThe Yankees have have somehow won all 3 games this week so far. Monday Aaron Judge continued to put the team on his back. Tuesday the boys mashed. Wednesday was a rollercoaster of epic proportions. Gleyber is lost mentally and almost cost the team the game. Chad Green can’t be used in these high leverage spots right now. Did Gleyber know how many outs there were on Gardy’s bloop single. Gallo sitting despite swinging a good bat? Chapman looking better. The umpire ejected the groundscrew. Nestor Cortes Jr. was incredible, including a career high 11 strikeouts. Dissecting Cole’s start on Tuesday. Mike King also is going to be a big impact down the stretch here. Episode 289: Subway Series Derailed - Whistle Gate Clears The Benches Between Yankees and Mets After Fireworks Between Lindor, Stanton, and Baez
EIt was a wild Subway Series this weekend at Citi Field that culminated with an insane Sunday Night Baseball game between the Yankees and Mets. The benches cleared after tempers flared between Lindor, Baez, and Stanton. Chad Green gave up another bomb and lost another game for this team. Judge had a monster Saturday putting the team on his back but left Sunday’s game with dizziness. Gary Sanchez is awful again and his error on Friday with the missed tag was beyond embarrassing. Clarke Schmidt made his season debut and ran into trouble with his location. Gleyber and Gio are completely lost. We talk about the 20th anniversary of 9/11 and the tribute they had before Saturday night’s game. Episode 288: The Yankees Lose On Jeter HOF Day As This Rollercoaster Season Takes a Nose Dive
EThe Yankees have lose 9 of their last 11 games, and five straight now. Pure sadness. Gerrit Cole left Tuesday’s start early with a tight hamstring and we wait word on his prognosis. Gleyber is lost. The lineup isn’t doing anything. What happened to playing Tyler Wade and Luke Voit? Luis Gil returned and wasn’t at his best, but did make history. He also walked a ton of guys which wasn’t ideal. Still, the offense is dreadful having mustered just one XBH since Sunday. Not great. Derek Jeter was enshrined in the HOF at least which was so awesome and a nice break from reality. We break it all down and take your voicemails on today’s show. Outro Song: “EDM Elation” via APM Music LibraryYou can find every episode of this show on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or YouTube. Episode 287: The Yankees Might Suck Again + The First Ever Tommy Smokes Hosted Episode
EThe Yankees have fallen off the wagon after their historic 13 game winning streak came to an end, going 2-7 in their last 9 against the Athletics, Angels, Orioles (!) and an 8-0 loss to the Wild Card contending Blue Jays. Andrew Heaney and Brooks Kriske are still seeing Major League pitching time even though we have Luis Gil in the minors. It's becoming abundantly clear that the push for the post season is not going to be easy, and it might be time to start biting your nails now. Strap in folks. This episode also makes history as the first without Hubbs, who is at the US Open. Tommy and Marty definitely respect Hubbs' absence and definitely DON'T make fun of him for the whole episode. Enjoy. Episode 285: Winning Streak Over, But a Split in Oakland Plays + The Mets Maybe With Their Peak Moment In Their Hilarious History
EThe Yankees winning streak ended at 13 games this weekend, but they still came away with a split in Oakland, a place they do not play well ever. Aaron Judge is on some kind of tear, along with Stanton. Gerrit Cole was lights out on Friday, as was Monty on Sunday. The guys discuss the near future of the rotation with Corey Kluber set to return Monday night in LA. With Gleyber due back soon, what kind of situation is he walking into? Who are we rooting for the next two weeks with Tampa and Boston going at it? The Mets also have an all-time firestorm debacle where Javy Baez is upset with the fans for booing him. We end the show reading Mush’s latest blog that was a roller coater and a half in terms of the English language. EThe Yankees have won 11 games in a row for the first time since 1985. 10 straight series wins for the first time since 1954. Tuesday night wasn’t easy with Aroldis Chapman making a mess of everything but Wandy was a hero. Loaisiga needs to be named the closer. Giancarlo is fire hot with two more missiles. Gio Urshela’s return is imminent, but what happens when Gleyber comes back? Where does Velazquez end up? Pinstripe Dan (Big Cat) joins the show as well as a surprise FaceTime from Joba Chamberlain who watched our live stream of the game. Thank you to everyone who watched along on YouTube and congrats to our merch giveaway winners as well. 11 wins in a row. Onto Oakland. Episode 283: Yankees On Fire, Luke Voit is Going Scorched Earth, Andrew Velazquez's Dream Gets Even Better
EThe Yankees continue steamrolling every team in their path following a sweep of our favorite punching bag, the Minnesota Twins. We're on a nine-game winning streak and suddenly only four games behind the Rays for the division. One of the biggest storylines to have emerged over this recent stretch of dominance is that of the hometown hero, Andrew Velazquez. Him and Tyler Wade have electrified this lineup with blazing speed and scrappy contact hitting, completely changing the profile of the team's offense. Meanwhile, Luke Voit has gone absolutely berserk at the plate since returning from the IL, clobbering every pitch he sees and cementing his rightful spot in the starting lineup. We discuss all about what's making this team awesome to watch right now, and what to expect once some key pieces such as Gio, Gleyber, Kluber, and Sevy return to the team. One of the most positive episodes we've had all year, let's keep the good vibes rolling! Episode 282: YANKEES SWEEP THE RED SOX
EThe Yankees just finished off an incredible sweep of the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Andrew Velazquez had his finger prints all over it coming up with big hits and great plays left and right. Andrew Heaney forgot who he was and pitched a gem to cap off the sweep. Every game was a sweat in some way but the boys pulled it out. We break it all down including Luis Gil’s continued dominance since debuting in the big leagues. Anthony Rizzo is back, but what does that mean for Luke Voit. We go in depth on his comments that pissed off a lot of fans and Hubbs sets everyone straight. What should the Yankees do about the 9th inning moving forward now that Chapman is back? It’s a great time to be a Yankee fan as they sit in the 1st wild card spot at a season high 17 games over .500. Now we go.
