He breaks down how their horses got prepared for the ARHFA—where Brazile won over $100,000 alone.Baker has studied Brazile’s horsemanship, and he’s keyed in on the preparation needed to create the kind of horses the $7-million cowboy can take to the next level. Paden Bray is our special guest on this episode of "The Short Score".This is the first time we've had Paden on the podcast. S4 Ep 7The Score: ProRodeo Road Trip
With the rodeo season once again up in the air thanks to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it feels like as good of a time as any to have a light-hearted episode about the good old days on the rodeo trail in a different era.So to do that, we racked our brains for the best cowboy travel stories we've ever heard told, and we called up the guys who lived to tell the tales so we could all have a good laugh at their expense. We started with Travis Tryan, and then move to Trey Yates, Trevor Brazile, Patrick Smith and finish out the episode with Cesar de la Cruz. Over the last two decades, the staff at The Team Roping Journal has written both in passing and in earnest about Patrick Smith’s life story. But we don’t take for granted that everyone listening to "The Score"—especially the next generation of ropers—has read every word we’ve ever written or heard every story we’ve ever produced. So this is the first time Smith and "The Score" host Chelsea Shaffer have sat down to go over his unconventional road to two gold buckles, George Strait and BFI wins and millions of dollars in career earnings. His story is so remarkable—as remarkable, perhaps, as the character he possesses that’s got him to this point, brought to you by Roper Apparel. Hosted on Acast. Yates, Lari Dee Guy, Bert McGill and Dean Tuftin. S4 Ep 1The Score: 2021 Rope Horse Market Outlook Part I
EIf one good thing came out of 2020, it's the price of a good rope horse continues to climb—allowing more people to train horses for a living and support the sport of team roping as a whole. So to kick off Season 4 of "The Score", we want to talk about the trends driving the industry forward with wide slice of influencers. In this first part of our series, 26-time World Champion Trevor Brazile gives us his take on the forces at work in the market and where the market needs to go to remain sustainable. But this is a special episode with four featured guests, so from Brazile we move to Steve Friskup, who heads up Premier Horse Sales and is the horse industry’s master auctioneer. And from Friskup, we move to Jann Parker at Billings Livestock, who has 23 years in the horse sale business (and many before that buying and selling herself) and serves a diverse clientele. We’ll round out the show with Mark Smith, father of Clay, Jake and Britt Smith, who buys and sells dozens and dozens of rope horses every year. He’s based in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, and he’s got his finger on the pulse of the day-to-day recreational roper. This more informal, but highly informational episode is what we hope to carry on throughout this season, as we celebrate 750,000 downloads of this show. This inaugural episode is brought to you by our long-time partners at the Cinch Timed Event Championships, this year running from Thursday March 11 to Saturday March 13. The event pays out a $100,000 check to the handiest cowboy across five events, over five rounds. You’ll get to see guys like Russell Cardoza, Paul David and Jess Tierney, Erich Rogers, Clay Smith, Taylor Santos and Daniel Green duke it out in the heading, heeling, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and steer roping, and you’ll watch it all in the world famous Lazy E Arena in Guthrie, Oklahoma. And this year, the Timed Event is partnering with BFI Week to host the ultimate roper’s showdown. Less than 12 hours after crowning the Timed Event Champs, you’ll get to see the best ropers in the game go head-to-head over the BFI’s long score and strong cattle at the event’s new home in Guthrie. You won’t want to miss it. Get your tickets now at lazyetec.com, and we’ll see you in Guthrie. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

S3 Ep 18The Score — Logan Medlin
Logan Medlin is on the brink of his first National Finals Rodeo qualification, six years after winning his second College National Finals Rodeo Championship and ten years after winning his last New Mexico High School Finals Rodeo title. Medlin—a soft spoken guy from Tatum, New Mexico—has had a better 2020 than just about anybody I know. He and his high-school-sweetheart wife Breely had their first child, and he's won more with Charly Crawford than he ever has in a "normal" rodeo season, with fewer rodeos to go to than ever before, brought to you by Cactus Ropes.
