Show Notes

This week's episode of The Save Room is indeed a sad one. We mourn the loss of not only Capcom Vancouver, who brought us Dead Rising, but we also say a heavy goodbye to Telltale Games. In a very unexpected turn of events this past weekend, Telltale laid off 250 of its employees without notice, effectively shutting the studio down and cancelling all projects except one. 250 of the industry's top talent lost their jobs, benefits, and are without severance pay. It is a deeply sad situation and one that is still developing. We often get stuck on the products we love and don't consider those behind them. The studio's closure begs important questions about unions, game dev crunch, and what we can do to protect talent in this growing industry. While we won't get to see how Clementine's story ends, we do hope that all of those affected bounce back and find new studios to continue their craft with. Their narratives left an important impression on the industry and they will be deeply missed. It's not all bad this episode though, Roommates. We get plenty hyped over all the Tokyo Game Show news, discuss how every game is made better with a mega buster, and even lose our heads over what should be on the Playstation classic (Kevin won't sleep until Gex returns). It's an emotional rollercoaster, but would you expect anything less? We thank you as always for you ears and time, and hope this one finds you well. ----------------------------------- -Cuts- 0:00:00--Intro and What We've Been Playing 0:19:40--Quick Hits: TOKYO GAME SHOW!
