Chloe Cole joins Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse to talk about how the entire medical establishment failed her by trying to turn her into a boy. Join us on censorship free Locals: https://TheRuthInstitute.Locals.com Chloe Cole is a detransitioner and describes herself as a "former trans kid" She was diagnosed with gender dysphoria at 9 years old and was treated by Kaiser Permanente in the San Francisco Bay Area between the ages of 13 and 17. She was a tomboy who thought of herself as a social misfit. She started thinking about transitioning after creating an Instagram account and being recommended lots of LGBTQ content: "Social media introduced this idea that I could be a boy." In eighth grade, Chloe was sexually assaulted and she began binding her breasts with chest binders. She was prescribed puberty blockers at age 13, and a month later, she was injected with large doses of opposite sex hormones (which permanently lowered her voice). Chloe had a double mastectomy at age 15, in June 2020. At age 16, she realized that she would never be able to breastfeed. "I decided to stop transitioning entirely," Chloe explains. "It was too much for me, and I knew that I couldn't keep lying to myself." In early 2023, Chloe filed a lawsuit against Kaiser Permanente along with the individual endocrinologist, psychiatrist, and plastic surgeon involved in her mutilation. She is represented by Harmeet Dhillon of the Center for American Liberty. Her chemical "treatment" and amputation included "off label" drugs and "amounted to medical experimentation," and she was not given adequate information to provide informed consent. As a result of harmful "treatment," she developed joint pain, weak bone density, and ongoing urinary tract infections. She also charges that doctors did not inform her parents of alternative, less invasive treatments like psychiatric care, and that they told her that her gender dysphoria would "never resolve unless she chemically and surgically transitioned." Bishop Peter John Elliott is a retired Australian bishop of the Catholic Church who served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Melbourne from 2007 to 2018.1 He graduated from The University of Melbourne with a Master of Arts in history and then attained a Master of Arts in theology at the University of Oxford. Bishop Elliott is also an author, writing a number of published works that predominantly concern the celebration of Catholic liturgy. John Gravino is a Catholic author who explores the intersection of health and religion and other big questions of life. He is the author of The Immoral Landscape of the New Atheism, which was the topic of a health and spirituality seminar at Duke Medical School. In his book, Gravino argues that the real problem with the world is not religion but human nature, and the problem with our human nature is located in our minds. The key to making the world a better place, therefore, depends on the healing of the human mind. But how can this be accomplished? The world of science has been amazingly successful in so many areas, but the one glaring exception to the nearly flawless track record of the sciences is in the study of mental disorder. While science has been able to find cures for so many physical diseases, a cure for mental illness has proven elusive. John Gravino offers an explanation. Science is unable to cure the mind because the mind is a fundamentally different organism. The human mind is spiritual, not physical; and thus, it obeys the spiritual laws of the universe. If you want to make the world a better place, Gravino argues that getting rid of religion—the true source of the spiritual laws of the universe—is the worst thing you can do. Gravino presents his case, based on evidence from recent advances in neuroscience, that the only thing that can save the world is true religion because only true religion has the power to heal the human mind.
