In this episode, we sit down with Skip Valentine in Williamston, North Carolina. We met Skip on a job and we found out pretty quick that we all have a lot in common. He's a hunter, farmer, timber man, entrepreneur, and conservationist. We had the opportunity to tour some of his farms in North Carolina and Virginia and talked him extensively about management techniques and philosophies from everything to logging to burning to setting up your land to benefit all creatures on the land, not just ducks, deer, and turkey...rats gotta eat too. Ep 58 - Moments in Life
There are years in life when it feels like not much has happened and then there a moments in life when it feels like years have happened. We've been away from the podcast for a minute, not because we've really wanted to but because a lot of life has been happening in the Rolling Thunder Family these past three or four weeks. Rob and his wife, Liz, welcomed a baby girl to the world, the Halfords had one turn sixteen, and Ben was in a boating injury in The Gulf that resulted in him fracturing his T-12 vertebrae. This episode, we get a little deep and reflect on God's grace and goodness. Everyone is okay and healthy, we are all just learning to slow down a little bit and enjoy what the good Lord is putting in front of us...learning not to take a second for granted.

Dr. Chamberlain is a Terrell Professor in the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Georgia. His research and the insights we gather from the data are significantly influencing the way that we think about turkey movement, behavior, and population. We discuss various topics including turkey behavior, trapping and transponder research efforts, nest predators and predator control, predation on turkeys by the great horned owl, and about turkey hunting in general.
