Impressive Loyola basketball seasons ended on the same weekend. We dive into a heartbreaking state semifinal but incredible season for the Ramblers girls; and we talk Loyola's sweet-16 loss to an extraordinary Evanston unit that is now in the state finals. We also give a brief review of the hoops season and hear from Ramblers coach Tom Livatino before we hit the ice with New Trier teams playing for state titles this weekend.

It was a make or break week on the hardwood, and two teams remain from our area: Loyola and Loyola. The boys will play for the sectional on Friday, while the girls are headed back to the state finals thanks to two dominant efforts over the past week — in one of them, star Aubrey Galvan went bananas. We also recap New Trier boys season that ended Friday, and special state performances from local wrestlers and swimmers.

Local wrestlers and gymnasts put it on the line at state with one coming home as a champion. We talk in through, plus get into playoff hoops as it heats up. New Trier-GBS girls go into overtime, Ramblers ramble on and the boys are just getting started.

New Trier gymnastics' sectional performance leads the discussion, and junior Elena Scarano joins in the second quarter to chat about her big-time beam routine. Dramatic basketball season is underway for our local teams. We talk about a difficult stretch for New Trier boys hoops, which is playing without star Chris Kirkpatrick, and a record-breaking afternoon for Aubrey Galvan in a huge win for the Ramblers. The Ramblers have done it again, winning an IHSA 8A football title for the third straight season to make more program history. We talk you through the championship game and season, as well as hear from the players and coaches who made it happen. Plus, in the final quarter, we discuss a flawed football postseason system that was magnified during a blowout-filled championship weekend.

It's that time again. Thanks to Loyola Academy, this championship preview podcast has become a regular occurrence. We review the Ramblers huge semifinal win over Lincoln-Way East and then dive deep into their title-game matchup with York. We toss in some basketball talk in Quarter 3, as well.

We break down how Loyola football turned a second-quarter deficit into a second-half rout in the Ramblers quarterfinal win against Maine South. And we spend plenty of time analyzing another Loyola-Lincoln-Way East playoff battle, coming up on Saturday. Plus, New Trier swimming had a day at the IHSA finals — how come it wasn't enough?

Loyola and Marist duked it out in a second-round 8A matchup, with the Ramblers living to fight another die. The New Trier volleyball team wasn't so lucky in a supersectional matchup with powerful Benet Academy. And the Trevians Ben Crane ran to history in his final cross-country race. We cover it all as well as state swimming and New Trier's chances this coming weekend.

Loyola football looks to be firing on all cylinders as the playoffs begin. We talk their Round 1 romp and break down a much more challenging Round 2 matchup with Marist. New Trier field hockey is back on top and we hear from coach Romano. How about cross-country, volleyball and swimming? We cover all those too.

It's playoff time for high school football, and Loyola Academy sent a message in its regular-season finale by routing fellow power Mount Carmel. How'd they pull that off? Highland Park's fun finish has us talking, and we lament what went wrong with New Trier this year. Plus, Trevians tennis history as the team and a doubles duo repeat as state champs.

Loyola Academy again ends its season with a premier game in the state when it visits Mount Carmel Friday. We take a look at the matchup and its implications. New Trier and Highland Park prep for their finales, hoping to go out on a high note. Plus, New Trier boys golf with a heartbreaking finish on its quest for a three-peat, but Liam Kelly's individual title softens the blow.

We look at the big picture and discuss what under-.500 teams New Trier and Highland Park will be playing for in the second half, and what Loyola's 2-2 record means and if the defense can get the Ramblers back to a title game.
