S1 Ep 50Ep. 50 - My transformational mentoring programme for yoga teachers
With the doors to my Prosperous Yogini Mentoring Programme for yoga teachers re-opening Friday 26th May until 9pm on Monday 5th June, today's episode is all about this amazing offer and how I turned anger into love and passion to create this magical programme. I've been training and mentoring yoga teachers since 2017, the vast majority have been female. Time and time again I was experiencing the same story, amazing yoga teachers, with so much to offer the world, full of self-doubt and struggling to make money in what is a multi-million dollar industry. I got angry and decided instead of staying angry and blaming external circumstances I'd do something about it, because I have a strong feeling that more money in the hands of women will make the world a better place. And I just so happen to be able to help yoga teachers turn their passion into profit. And I am ready to help you! But it's not just my mentoring programme we chat about, Annette is like so many yoga teachers, working part-time employed and part-time as a yoga teacher. She also trained during the covid years and totally unplanned has started an online yoga business! Working with me Annette has set up systems to remove friction so people can easily see who she is, why they want to do yoga with her, and how. We've created her website, set up online payments, radically changed her payment structure for her online class, created new offers for her current audience, which she has also grown and now we're hatching plans for passive income! This has all been possible because of the personalised tailored approach of my mentoring programme, when you join, I review your whole business and create an in-depth pathway to profit which is unique to you. There are group coaching calls and teaching clinics, along with self-study content that covers all aspects of running a yoga business. On top of this is ongoing personalised support in our community space and via WhatsApp. This level of personal support ensures when you hire me on your team for 6 months together we create your dream yoga business that honours you. S1 Ep 45Ep. 45 - Teaching Yin Yoga, the power of diversifying
In today's episode, I share how my body, my teaching and my yoga business has changed over the last 14 years of teaching, alongside persuading you to train with me to teach yoga with me! Yoga teaches us nothing is constant; everything is subject to change and that includes us! Not only do our body's needs shift as we experience life, but we're human and it's natural to have new interests and be led down pathways of curiosity. I found Yin yoga because my body needed it, and it had such a profound effect on me I of course wanted to share that with my students. This led to not only sharing this much-needed practice with my students but diversifying my offers and creating consistent income with my yoga business, through a membership model. Whether it's Yin, or a different style of yoga, diversifying the style of yoga we teach helps bring balance to our body, and our students' bodies', as well as opening the doorway for new income pathways. Yin-yoga teacher training It is why I do believe if you don't already you should teach Yin-yoga! S1 Ep 44Ep. 44 - Keep Your Yoga Practice Alive
When yoga teachers join my mentoring programme a common problem for them is a feeling that they don't have time for their yoga practice and in some cases have lost their love for it! At the root of what we do as yoga teachers is simply sharing our passion and experience of the practice. To sustainably do this for as many years as you wish your practice matters, you matter! There are many reasons why our practice falls to the bottom of our list of priorities, but the main is not putting ourselves first. Yes, life, family and other commitments can get in the way, this can mean that there are periods of our life where time for our practice is seriously compromised, but we can always find time for what we love, maybe not hours but some time. Not to mention our yoga practice isn't just physical and is not confined to our mat. Only your belief system tells you otherwise. To truly serve your students you need to also serve yourself, so do go to class, do roll out your mat, do make time for self-care. And remember my mantra - movement is movement! S1 Ep 43Ep. 43 - Progress In Your Yoga Business
An Easter holiday minisode today! In today's short episode, I talk about how progress is not and cannot physically be an upward trajectory. That progress in your yoga business will have growth and rest phases. And it's the rest phases so often where the magic happens, where we receive ideas and inspiration as to where to go next. I am someone who receives a lot of ideas, and I have learned over the years to rest, receive and then give myself some time to consider what I have received. Is it really what I want to do? Does it truly light me up? This stops me from creating too many new things all at once or following ideas that actually aren't meant for me! Create space for rest, both in terms of time off and holiday, and in your weekly and daily routine. Effort and rest are like strengthen and flexibility, yin & yang, they are needed in equal measure, it just so often we value one (normally effort), over the other. S1 Ep 42Ep. 42 - Becoming A Yoga Teacher-Trainer
Today I am joined by my dear friend and experienced teacher-trainer Nathalie Bennett from Live Love Yoga. We share the story of our relationship, which is supportive and collaborative, based on the shared ethos that there truly is room for us all, and supporting each other to thrive is something we all should strive to do in the yoga industry. Together we discuss how our educational experiences led to our roles as yoga teacher-trainers, why we became trainers and the evolution of that journey. And of course, how Covid resulted in us both now having online yoga teacher training courses! What I love the most is our conversations around doing things differently, and how that leads to greater inclusivity within the yoga industry. We briefly brave the loaded topic of awarding yoga bodies, in the unregulated world that is yoga. It's jammed packed full of gold-dust information regardless of what stage of business you are at, and is particularly useful if you are considering adding in some form of training into your offer suit. Before looking forward to what is next, you must celebrate this! Before you think about growing your yoga business, you've actually got to start it. You've got to go out cut your craft as a teacher, find your vibe and attract your tribe! But what happens when you're ready to move on from your initial step? How to grow your yoga business? There are a whole multitude of ways you can make money as a yoga teacher and spread the light that is yoga, it really is a sea of exciting possibilities! Expansion must be compassionate, and done at a pace that is aligned with your energies, your why and how you want to work. And if at first, you're not fully sure what this why and how is, have fun saying yes and trying new things. When we align ourselves energetically with growing our yoga business you will be surprised what offers and opportunities come your way. Yes, you can teach more classes, but be careful not to offer too much of the same class and spread class numbers over more hours. Specialising in a particular demographic or offering a contrasting class to your current class are smart ways to expand a teaching schedule. Train to teach Yin-yoga? You can train to teach Yin and Pregnancy yoga with me, starting today - https://amy-yoga.com/yoga-teacher-training/ Other low-cost, low-risk options include creating 1:2:1 and corporate packages. From online options, longer retreats, studio ownership, setting up your own CIC company or even Airbnb experiences, it is a sea of possibilities. Just move compassionately to the next step that feels the most exciting, and if you're not sure which way to go, remember if you don't go you don't know so try something. S1 Ep 40Ep.40 - Marketing For Yoga Teachers
Starting Your Yoga Business - Part 2 You've just graduated from your foundation YTT (well done!) and you're ready to get teaching, but you have zero followers on social media, no website, and no mailing list. Where do you start? Especially when it feels like an overwhelming list of things to have in place before you go and share the light that is yoga and teach a class! On the topic of the spinning wheel of doom that is overwhelm now may be a good time to go back and listen to episode 12 "How to avoid overwhelm" - https://amy-yoga.com/prosperous-yogini-podcast-episode-12/ My best piece of advice is to use what you already have, which will 100% be something! Marketing is just talking to people, finding the right people to talk to, telling them how you can help them, how they can come and do yoga with you, and then invite to your offer (aka selling). I'm sure you have friends, family members, connections, a personal FB page or other ways you can go out and start to talk to people about your yoga classes. And then with an extra dose of courage, you can even go out and talk to people you don't know, the local café, or a closed FB group for example about your yoga class. Learning to market your yoga business is a practice, one just like your yoga practice, you have to get out there and just take action, one step at a time, honouring your journey. Remember before we run, we walk. Ways we can work together Join my mentorship programme for yoga teachers The first 12 months after graduating are the hardest, don't try to do them alone. S1 Ep 39EP.39 - How do I become a better yoga teacher?
You've been asking for some time now, so here it is, the first in my 3-part series on how to start out as a yoga teacher once you graduate from your yoga teacher training course - eek! How do I become a better yoga teacher? The answer does not lie in more training, yes that is a fun thing to do, but the only way to get better at teaching is to go out and practise the skill of teaching. Teaching is teaching, regardless of subject, it is a skill, and skills improve through practise. The process of skill refinement looks like this: Go out and practise the skill (aka teach yoga) Reflect on how it went (positively!) Respond and refine next time you teach (repeat) Regardless of where you are in your yoga teaching career, this is a process we all should practise. The main problem I see is those who graduate from their YTT waiting to feel ready to teach, and never getting teaching. This day won't come, you have to take action and go out and set up a class. Teaching friends and family, or hooking up with a local studio can be great pathways into cutting your craft as a yoga teacher, from which you can expand out from. S1 Ep 38Ep. 38 - Lean Into What You Love
A sort of mini-sode (I talk for too long, but it was my intention to keep it short!) In today's shortish episode, I talk about the power that lies in leaning into what we love, in our business and in our lives! I share my passion for surfing longboards and small waves, and how the more I allow time in my life for surfing the more my business grows – what does that tell you about energy and magnetic attraction? Leaning into what we love can be easier said than done, hard wired beliefs, fear of failing and the uncertainty of something new can so often keep us stuck in places which no longer serve us. Take inspired action! Inspired action and magnetic marketing are two very popular buzzwords and make us believe they are something we have to do! But they are simply a byproduct of fully stepping into what right now sets our soul on fire. On that topic, I love online, live, training and coaching calls, and helping all women share their unique gifts with the world and make money. To honour this, and practising what I preach next Wednesday 8th March I am starting my new monthly mastermind classes, for yoga teachers, wellness entrepreneurs and anyone else who wants some of my 'you can do this energy!' March Monthly Master class – The Soulful Art of Money Making, 7pm-8.30pm GMT (re-play available) To mark international woman's day all proceeds this month are going to Child Action Poverty Group. S1 Ep 34Ep.37 - Why Feelings Of Resentment And Frustration Arise.
This episode is the last in my 3-part series where I've picked up questions and common issues that came up during my free live launch event "The profitable Yoga Business Roadmap". So many teachers communicated to me - for various reasons - feelings of resentment and frustration. I know that neither of these emotions are pleasant, but I'm going to go all out here and say they are a part of the practice of running a business. In our case as yoga teachers, a service-based business, a solo entrepreneur - where we're more than likely to be female. Frustration and resentment are signs we're out of alignment, that something is off. Remember thoughts become things and what we focus on expands. Frustration and resentment show us what we don't want, use them to turn to what you do want - rather than stay focused on what you don't! Feelings of resentment and frustration are blessings, they're how the universe guides us to where we should be. Join my mentorship programme for yoga teachers Guiding yourself to where you should be can often take courage and a whole load of mind-trash navigation. S1 Ep 36Ep. 36 What would I have done differently in my first year teaching yoga?
What would I have done differently in my first year of teaching yoga? For the next few weeks, I'll be picking up questions that came up during my free live launch event "The profitable Yoga Business Roadmap". I am sure those questions will also really apply to you and your yoga business. I loved this question I was asked "What would I have done differently in my first year of teaching yoga" Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I wish I had done the following 3 things: Charged more for my classes Stopped comparing myself to other local teachers and making judgements based on my value and worthiness of services based on their website! Got over the whole idea that I always had to include an inversion in a vinyasa flow yoga class for it to be a good class! Comparing and despairing is the stealer of your joy, and as I always say why wait for hindsight to feel good! This is easier said than done, and much harder to do alone, and joining my mentoring programme means you are no longer alone with me on your side! Join my mentoring programme for yoga teachers The first couple of years are the hardest after graduating as a yoga teacher, and the best thing you can do is not try to figure it out alone. S1 Ep 35Ep.35 - Passes, Blocks and Boundaries
For the next few weeks, I'll be picking up questions that came up during my free live launch event "The Profitable Yoga Business Roadmap". I am sure these questions will also apply to you and your yoga business. Before I get going, yes my launch has been a massive success at every level of my business, and it was out of my comfort zone. I know this is where change and expansion occur, and as a little side note to you all, we all must operate from a place of compassionate expansion. Times when we are out of our comfort zone, and times when we're not! Today I talk around the subject of my most asked about question - how to arrange payment structures, this includes blocks, passes and drop-ins. The problem we have in the yoga industry is so many of us are copying models of large organisations that simply don't work when it comes to the one-man band that is so often us yoga teachers. Not to mention we're also copying each other, and the truth is yoga teachers are often under-charging, arranging their payment structures in a way that doesn't encourage consistency and disadvantages them, and are left feeling frustrated when numbers vary from week to week. Tied into this is our need to people please, and as a result a lack of clear boundaries and terms and conditions, which can leave us spending hours to doing admin whilst we lose money! I recommend block booking, clear start and end dates, and a structure that really encourages consistency, both in terms of income for you and practise for your students, this is a place where everyone wins! And yes of course we're human, and we care, and there are those moments where there are exceptions to the rules, but this can be done discreetly on a personal basis. Overall have your booking T&Qs clearly laid out when someone books. Changing this stuff can be difficult, it brings up a whole load of mind-trash to boot. It is hard figuring it out alone, which is why you need me in your corner! Ways to work with me I would love to support you as you lean into what you love in, the best way to do this is to join my 6-month group coaching and mentoring programme. S1 Ep 34Ep.34 - Communicating Value
How do you measure the value of investing in something for you and your yoga business? How do you communicate the value that your classes and other yoga offers bring? Understanding the value can help you make that decision to invest in training or mentoring (and yes, the doors to my mentoring programme are open until Monday 6th Feb 9 pm - https://amy-yoga.com/prosperous-yogini-programme/) This is also true of your potential students who will invest in your offers. When they understand the value of the transformation coming to yoga with you can bring to their lives, it suddenly becomes a no-brainer – they are in! In an age of information overloaded communicating the value easily and succinctly is very powerful. For example: Your monthly membership could be the equivalent cost of coffee and cake. Your drop-in price when someone is unsure whether to act or not is the cost of a takeaway pizza. Your weekend retreat is cheaper (and way better) than 3 nights in the local hotel. Your weekly yoga class helps someone to leave pain-free (this is priceless!) When it comes to your business and investing in you, we so often get stuck at the price, even the thought of paying the tiny transaction fee when taking online card payment. But the value of making it easy for someone to book in, pay quickly and in that moment they have decided they are coming, is so worth the transaction fee! And your value is infinite, the transformation you offer through your teachings immeasurable - so maybe that helps you charge a fair amount! Ways to work with me I would love to support you as you lean into what you love in, the best way to do this is to join my 6-month group coaching and mentoring programme. S1 Ep 31EP.33 - The Transformation That My Mentoring Brings!
Today I am joined by the gorgeous Claire Bowring, who I know very well! Claire trained with me in 2021 to be a yoga teacher and then went on to join my mentoring programme in the summer of 2022. Claire shares with us brilliant insights into what it's like to work with me, both in a training and mentoring capacity. She shares how she worked round her resistance to say yes to YTT, and her transformation in the last 18 months has blown my mind! My mentoring programme for yoga teachers I can tell you how great my mentoring programme is. I can tell you hand on heart that I 100% know I will support you to create a profitable, sustainable, impactful yoga business. But it is so much better when you see and hear it from someone who has experienced this transformation. Since joining my mentoring programme Claire has set up 4, well attended, in-person classes, we've refined her website, copy and messaging, she's had a professional photoshoot, reviewed her prices and packages for her massage and make-up offerings and very recently we've opened the door to passive income and working online! With my encouragement, Claire has set up her online membership, and in her first month alone 11 people have joined! Not to mention she's now re-selling some previously live workshops and we have plans for other online courses. Listen to Claire at the end, she is right, if you don't go you don't know. My mentoring programme will change your business and your life, everything that Claire has created is available for you too. S1 Ep 32Ep.32 - Your Why And Your How
Your 'why'... I spent some time wondering why do anything, and in the end I concluded why do anything if not for love? Why do you teach yoga, what's your story? Your why should be at the centre of all you choose to do, but so often we forget our why or we say yes because we feel we can't say no. Your 'how'... How do you want to work? One reason I decided to be a full-time yoga teacher was so I could take my children to and from school and be there in the holidays. This has framed every decision I make around how and when I want to work. Revisit your why and how regularly, because you are an ever-expanding human being, your why and how evolve and shift with you. Get clear on your why and your how, and the rest just flows, it is that simple and the reason why day 1 of the Profitable Yoga Business Roadmap I start with this. It's why module 1 of my 6-month Prosperous Yogini Mentoring Programme I ask you to get really clear on your why, what is your soul's purpose? Want help with your Why and How? S1 Ep 31Ep.31 - The Profitable Yoga Business Roadmap
It's my first 'official' Live Launch event! It's still very much Amy-Yoga style, a chilled launch where I am open to all the possibilities that doing a launch event will bring into my life. Why am I launching? The Profitable Yoga Business Roadmap is a FREE 3-day live training, with a coaching call Q&A to close. Day 1 Monday 23rd January 1.30pm 'Your Why & How.' Day 2 Tuesday 24th January 1.30pm 'Call out your dream student and fill your classes with ease.' Day 3 Wednesday 25th January 1.30pm 'Create offers and set prices that you and your students love.' Coaching call Friday 27th 6.30pm – 7.30pm – have all your questions answered! Why am I launching this? I believe passionately that the balance of wealth between men and women is out of balance. With 75% of all yoga teachers being female, I simply want to help balance out the energy of money between the yin and yang of this world. The doors to my full 6-month mentoring programme open January 30th and this free live event allows us all together to know each other better, so I can invite you into my full programme and you can decide if I am the mentor for you. A launch event is a wave of energy, which helps to create momentum in your business, not everyone who attends my launch will go on to work with me more closely in my programme, but they may go on to work with me in other ways or join my programme at a later day. Your business roadmap This is not a magic formula, but a blueprint, a map inside you, that I simply guide you to and support you to take action when sometimes that action feels scary! S1 Ep 30Ep.30 - Why Use Launching In Your Yoga Business?
In today's episode, I explore 'Launching', why you may choose to launch, the ways you can launch, covering both in-person and online examples, and the benefits of launching. Ultimately launching creates a wave of energy, a vibrational surge that opens the door to you a little wider for a period of time. It's just one way you can talk to people, aka marketing, which then leads you to invite people to work with you, aka selling! And why I am starting the year talking about Launching? Because I am!!!!! Eyes peeled for Monday 9th January to find out what my launch event is – eek! Ways to work with me My free launch event will help you, but truth be told free stuff only takes you so far, what you really need in 2023 is me on your team for 6 months and to join my 6-month group coaching and mentoring programme. S1 Ep 29Ep.29 - Your Word For 2023!
It's the second of my two-part festive minisodes! Today I share with you how I goal set for the year ahead. Rigid goals and New Year's resolutions have never worked for me, so instead I have a word that guides me through the year. This word guides me to goals - I prefer to call them opportunities - and allows me to be open to both my plans and the plans that the universe has for me that I may not yet know about! Covid taught me one thing – you never know what opportunities lie ahead!! Yoga teaches us to practise non-attachment. Over-attachment to a goal or plan can create resistance and stress, and who wants that! I do have goals and dreams for 2023, but my word will softly guide me through and around them. My word for 2022 was possibility... Possibility opened me up to trying things even if I failed, starting a podcast, creating my 6-month group mentoring programme, working with a coach, applying for funding (and being successful), introducing the use of FB ads to build my mailing list and re-purposing all the wonderful training content I have into shorter CPD courses for yoga teachers, (which are proving really popular!) How to find your word? Your higher self will already know it, spend time listening out for it. When it comes sit with it for a bit and check it's the one and then see where it leads you into 2023. Ways to work with me Talking of 2023, here's an important question, is it your year to shine? Is 2023 the year you take your passion for teaching yoga and helping people and create a profitable, sustainable, impactful business (that helps even more people)? I think it is! Keep your eyes peeled early January for some exciting FREE training that will guide you to this goal. But in truth what you really need in 2023 is me on your team for 6 months and to join my 6-month group coaching and mentoring programme. You can join the waitlist today. S1 Ep 28Ep. 28 - Consistency In Your Yoga Business
It's the first of my two-part festive minisodes! Consistency is king! Showing up in all areas of your yoga business on a regular basis is how you create that sustainable, profitable business. It's just like your yoga practise; you know the answer is consistency. But don't confuse consistency with working against your natural energies and doing a lot of stuff you don't want to do (or have time for!) The key to consistency is to lean into what you love (like I love doing this podcast and have showed up for you for 28 weeks now!) When you honour yourself and your natural energies and lean into what you love you don't have to think "I must be consistent", because you just are! Consistency is the by-product of doing what lights you up. Ways to work with me I would love to support you as you lean into what you love in 2023!! The best way to do this is to join my 6-month group coaching and mentoring programme. You can join the waitlist today. S1 Ep 27Ep. 27 - Your Yoga Business
Your yoga business? How do you feel when you think about your yoga business? Do you even consider yourself a business owner? I am a business owner and it's taken me several years to get to this realisation and to see that I have two roles: Yoga teacher Business owner (aka yoga boss over at Amy-Yoga HQ) Once I realised this, everything about my yoga business began to flow with much more ease. As a yoga teacher, you are a service provider, the service you provide is the act of teaching yoga. If you're a UK-based yoga teacher, unless you only work in an employed capacity, you'll also be a registered sole trader. To sustainably offer your services as a yoga teacher you also need to step into the role of business owner, whether you run 1 class a week or work full time in your business, or somewhere in between, the principles are the same. Yoga boss pants! Once you find your yoga boss pants, and wear them, the following 3 things will change for you and your yoga business: You'll make better energetic decisions about how you use your time delivering your services as a yoga teacher. You'll make better energetic decisions about money, to ensure you are paid for your services as a yoga teacher. You'll see those aspects that don't involve teaching, like replying to emails, marketing your services, completing tax returns and paying tax, as part of your duty, your dharma to ensure you can deliver your services as a yoga teacher. It lightens those moments when you think "I've been sat at my computer too long!" Ways to work with me If you'd like some support finding your yoga boss pants, and stepping into the role as business owner, as well as yoga teacher I would love to help you do this. The best way to do this is join my 6-month group coaching and mentoring programme. S1 Ep 26Ep.26 - Going Full-Time In Your Yoga Business
Today I am not alone, I'm joined by the lovely Victoria Leigh who in just 2 years since she graduated from my Foundation Yoga Teacher Training course is now FULL-TIME in her yoga business – whoop! Victoria proves it's possible, and if you have the ambition to work full-time as a yoga teacher or simply wish to make the part-work that you do profitable, it's important that you surround yourself with positive people who prove it's possible. Victoria shares with total honesty her journey from part-time yoga teacher and part-time employed job, to where she is now, full-time, with full class with waiting lists, and exciting plans to serve her tribe even further! We reminisce about covid lockdowns, and her decision to make a 3-hour journey for 2 empty classes! The bottom line is when we start anything new, we'll make mistakes, it's the best way to learn what does work for us. In the midst of the UK's 3rd lockdown in 2021, Victoria took the totally unplanned decision to train in trapeze yoga, despite a huge fear of inversions! This was the best decision she ever made; she's now responsible for a trapeze yoga craze in Cornwall! Not just that she's totally found her tribe. Women at a stage in their lives where hanging upside down is immensely empowering and helping to navigate the anxiety and lack of self-esteem that can come with the peri-menopausal and menopausal stages of our lives. Two years on Victoria is immensely clear on her tribe, she knows her 'dream student' and has magnetized them to her. She doesn't have a full-blown website, preferring to use a booking site. She does use social media, but sparingly, and has just started her mailing list - well done Vic! She proves that when you get really clear about who and how you want to serve, and when you show up for that 'dream student', they find you. Your energy literally attracts them! What's more, as Victoria now plans to expand her business she's not thinking she needs more in her community, she's thinking about how she can serve those who are already there. This powerful message tells us that it's not about a big audience, it's about finding your audience. Check out Victoria on social media - https://www.instagram.com/victorialeighyoga/ Watch me and Vic on YouTube https://youtu.be/MS8bB2aYEsE Ways to work with me If you're inspired by Vic's story and would like support in finding and talking to your dream student, and growing your yoga business (maybe even going full-time), the best thing you can do is get support on this journey and join my 6-month group coaching and mentoring programme. S1 Ep 25Ep.25 - What if you are right where you are meant to be?
It's another mini-sode, but it's mighty! Today in this short episode I ask you one very, very ,very important question. "What if you are right where you are meant to be?" So often when I am working with other yoga teachers there's a huge sense of they should be further along, and simply not having enough time to do it all. There's always time! There is always enough time, but you can't do it all and nor do you need to. When we step back and lean into a belief that we are right where we are meant to be, even if it's not what we expected, planned, or hoped for. It's irrelevant if someone else seems ahead of you, that's their journey not yours. And what does hindsight tell us? When we look back at these moments of frustration, of something not happening yet, we often think "I am so glad it didn't". Why wait for hindsight to feel good? When we lean into the what if, what if this is where I am meant to be and I have time, suddenly we feel calmer, happier. We tone down sympathetic nervous system response, and you know as a yoga teacher this is a good thing! Work with me? All of this is easier said than done, and it is so much easier to do with support. If you hire me on your team, I can guide you through these moments of frustration, join 6-month Prosperous Yogini group mentoring programme, and together we'll build, grow and scale your dream yoga business, and remove the unnecessary stress. S1 Ep 24Ep. 24 - Your Questions Answered!
A few weeks ago, I surveyed the yoga teachers in my community on where they were and how I could best continue to support and help them with my mentoring and training programmes. The information has been gold-dust and a HUGE thank you to all the teachers who took the time to respond. As part of this process, some teachers asked me a question and I thought why not answer them all in a podcast episode! It's my longest episode to date, and a great example of what it would be like to hire me on your team if you joined my mentoring programme - you could ask me questions all the time! I cover managing quiet classes, fluctuating numbers when teaching pregnancy yoga, navigating your beautiful brain, messaging, marketing, niching (or not!), filling classes, working part-time, working full-time, managing time, juggling family life, being a yoga boss and a yoga teacher, and how to utilize a small space in your house or garden. (And probably more!) It's pure gold-dust! It's a 1-hour coaching session with yours truly! Work with me? And if you'd like more of this and to tap into my 13 years+ of experience to help you teach with confidence and run your business with ease then the answer is to join my 6-month group mentoring programme. Join the wait list and find out more here – https://amy-yoga.com/prosperous-yogini-programme/ I know from the responses from my survey that 100% want to earn more money from teaching yoga, and most wanted help on the business side, but most are planning more training. More training is great, but hand on heart it doesn't help the mind trash, fill your classes or support you with your business, not to mention free stuff only goes so far. S1 Ep 23Ep.23 - Help! My Yoga Classes Are Empty.
Today's episode is inspired again by a conversation I've had with one of the regular listeners to the show. I love these conversations, so feel free to get in touch. I received this DM on Instagram. She messaged to say her regular class had gone really quiet; she was feeling really demotivated and wondered if it was the current economic climate in the UK. Firstly, I want to send out the biggest hug to everyone who is self-employed in their business, showing up every day and I know it's feeling tough right now. Economic climate aside, this can sometimes be the nature of running a business. But I want you to know you are the master of your own destiny, try not to blame external events. This can get us stuck in a doom-loop of not taking action to change our current situation because we believe it's beyond our control. Your beautiful brain will step in to 'protect you' and tell you a whole load of untrue stuff to keep you safe but ultimately stuck. Remember our thoughts inspire our beliefs, our beliefs inspire our actions (or non-actions). Knowledge is power, and instead of making a lot of stuff up, get clear on the facts and take action from these. Options for getting un-stuck Reach out to past, regular students if it's an established class, and get some feedback on why they are no longer coming. I will put money on it being nothing to do with you. Are there eyes on the prize? I.e., who knows about this class, how are you talking to people and inviting them to come? Is it clear who the class is for, are you inviting in your dream, ideal student? No more 'yoga for everyone, general yoga class suitable for all abilities' – this class does not exist. Really appreciate and show up for the students that do come, hard I know, especially if you are losing money. But they will love you and your class, and you'll magnetize more people to join. Is your pricing structure encouraging commitment? Is it easy to book on, is there any friction that may make me not turn up? Aka yep just come along and pay on the night. Here's the tough one – is this what you truly want to do? Because if it's not you'll be blocking it, so get really clear on what you want to do and when. What lights you up? Ways you can work with me! My best advice in this situation is to stop trying to figure this out alone, now more than ever is the time to invest in you and your yoga business. I would love to help you fill your classes with your dream client and create so much demand in your yoga business that you've got wait lists (yes this is possible!) S1 Ep 22Ep. 22 - Help! My Yoga Classes Are Full.
Today's episode is inspired by a conversation I've had with one of the regular listeners to the show. They got in touch to say they'd just started teaching, their classes were full, knew it was just luck, was surprised because there's already so much yoga in her local area, and was worried that she couldn't accommodate everyone! What a fantastic problem to have! Firstly, it's not luck, your beautiful brain will try to convince you of this, or worst may even persuade you to engage in some act of self-sabotage, because you feel you don't deserve it. Yep, dear Mrs Imposter syndrome will rock up and say, "this won't last, they'll find you out". Knowledge is power and knowing this will happen will help you navigate it and not act upon it! What I also love about this story is how it proves that the whole fear, scarcity-based mindset that ripples through so many yoga teacher FB groups, that there's too many yoga teachers, is simply not true. Yoga breeds more yoga, teaching somewhere where lots of yoga happens is a sign people are up for yoga! There is room for us all! But a situation where a class is full - and you don't have control over numbers, and could end up turning people away - is not a good one to be in. Or perhaps you have people wanting to do yoga with you, but can't. They are losing out, and you are leaving money and opportunity on the table. My advice Know it's not luck and be immensely grateful you are in this position, it's a sign this is totally what you are meant to do! Get a booking system, charge in blocks, drop the drop-ins, and put your prices up. Use your booking system to set up a waitlist, when you have enough on this waitlist start a new class. You have a group of raving fans, start thinking about how you could serve them more and grow your business, perhaps they'd love a workshop? S1 Ep 21Ep.21 - What Is The Difference Between A Coach And A Mentor?
With the doors to my 6-month group mentoring and coaching programme for yoga teachers re-opening I thought this was a good time to discuss the role of a mentor and coach. And is there a difference between a coach and a mentor? And if there is any difference, does it really matter? A mentor I believe that there is a distinction that can be made between a coach and a mentor. I think a mentor is someone who shares their knowledge, skills and experience in order to help you to develop and grow. They're great listeners, so tend to talk a little less, but always tell you what they've done and what they've learned from their experience. A coach A coach is someone who provides more in the way of direct guidance to you on your goals, helping you to reach you full potential. Coaches more directly tell you what to do to improve, and may listen a little less and tell a little more. Both coaches and mentors support people to thrive, shine their light into the world and be the best version of themselves. And ultimately, pigeonholing yourself as either or is perhaps not the best approach. There are times when we need mentoring and there are times when we need coaching. The people who have the most positive impact on our lives are those who can do both and know when to change roles. And I am on a mission to help female yoga teachers share their gifts with the world and make money through my coaching and mentoring! The key factor when working with a coach or mentor means you are no longer alone. With the doors of Prosperous Yogini mentoring programme re-opening Friday 4th November - yoga teachers I urge you to hire me on your team for 6 months and stop trying to figure it out alone. I am so proud of the impact that my mentoring programme is having on those already in it. S1 Ep 20Ep.20 - Your Dream Yoga Business!
It's my first minisode, and in this short episode I'll talk about why the first thing you should do in your yoga business is to get really really clear on what your dream yoga business would look like?! Get clear on your why? What's your 'why'? Well of course, this will be to share the love that is yoga and help people. But how do you want to work, when do you want to work, would you like to be a full-time or part--time yoga teacher, and how much money would you like to earn? In my 6-month Prosperous Yogini mentorship programme this is the first thing I'll ask you to get really clear on. When you tap into your 'why', you begin to step into the flow of why you are on this path, you say yes to the things you are meant to do and stop agreeing to work that leaves you feeling frustrated or unsatisfied. Work with me? This takes courage, and it's much better to do this work with support, join my mentorship programme today and I will help you to step into your soul purpose and build, grow and scale your dream yoga business, the one you are meant to create. Ep19 - What Is Marketing?
Do you have a marketing strategy? What does the term marketing even mean? I do wonder if we yoga teachers have gone mad. 14 years ago when I first started teaching there was no social media, I was even ground-breaking for having a website! I just rented a village hall, made a flyer and spoke to people about my classes and invited them in. I literally rolled out my mat and started teaching. How did we get ourselves to a place where we can feel the pressure of the content treadmill, to even need a marketing strategy to be a yoga teacher? The bottom line is marketing is really easy, yoga teachers have always had to do it, regardless of whether the internet even existed, let alone social media! Marketing is talking to people, building relationships, telling people what you offer, how you can help them, the transformation you can bring to their lives and inviting them into your offers. Marketing or selling? And yes, technically the last part is selling, but seriously where does marketing end and selling begin? There are so many wonderful ways you can now talk to people, way more than I had in 2008, but the principles have not changed. Talk to people, listen to people, offer solutions to their problems, offer transformation, roll out your mat, take action and teach. Show up as you, serve your students with love, they'll do most of the marketing for you in the end! Want some help with marketing? Would you like to be freed from 'strategy' or 'formulas' that leave you feeling exhausted and not enough? Would you like to be empowered to talk to people on your terms. Know how to talk to your tribe, your dream student, which results in them just appearing in your business? This is possible and in my 6-month mentorship programme I will guide you to this place, you'll end up loving marketing, because it's not something you have to do, it's just something that happens because you just become you, you step into that place where you were always meant to be. S1 Ep 18Ep.18 - What Have I Learned From Teaching Toddler Yoga?
This is my first request episode and I've been asked by one of my regular listeners to share what I have learnt from teaching yoga to young children over the years. I have had the absolute honour of teaching toddler yoga for 12 plus years now and I can say hand on heart – it is the best job in the world! And from the toddlers I have learnt: To drop the ego and just move To not take the practice of yoga too seriously Sometimes you do have to eat mid-practise And OM is certainly a magical sound From the perspective of my yoga business and as a teacher I have learnt: That our classes are way more than just yoga, it's about community and connection Remaining consistent is very powerful That consistency builds up over time through word of mouth and this is the most powerful marketing tool we have, especially when it comes to local classes Having a specialism that lights you up will expand your teaching schedule and streams of income (but you don't have to niche yourself into a corner, I don't just teach toddler yoga!) Work with me? If you like the sound of building a yoga business around teaching bumps, mums & little ones, and you want flexible, online training then I'm your girl! S1 Ep 17Ep.17 - Creating An Online Yoga Business
Why does your mind say 'no'? Stepping out from our place of safety, and doing anything new is never easy, and this includes creating your first online yoga course. Your beautiful brain is hard-wired to keep you safe, stay with what is known, what is comfortable, be liked and stick with the tribe. Your wonderful, human brain has several strategies to stop you in your tracks on any path that is a new journey or has an un-known outcome, these include: Imposter Syndrome - she'll tell you if you go online 100% there's way more chance you'll be found out you and don't know what you're doing! You self-sabotage - by convincing yourself you need to look a certain way, or you don't have the right voice! Procrastination will attempt to win the day, along with over-whelm that will have you spinning around in a circle being very busy, but doing nothing! Perfectionism - the killer of joy, and a trickster because basically, perfection does not exist! Compare and despair – yes, I'm sure in your research you've found some online yoga teachers who have been doing It for years and compared yourself to them. Did you check them out at the start of their online journey? No! They simply prove what's possible! So, say "thank you" to your beautiful brain, navigate this mind-trash with compassion, but take action, imperfect action, it's the only way to do this! And tap into the strongest muscle in the body – love! When you tap into this, get super clear on why you want to create an online yoga business, love will always win over fear. And that my lovely is a message for life, love is always more powerful than fear, and we are all more powerful than we could ever imagine! Work with me? S1 Ep 16Ep.16 - How Do Yoga Teachers Make Money?
There are a whole host of wonderful ways yoga teachers can share their gifts with the world and make money! It is a simple fact most yoga teachers, especially when starting out and cutting their craft as a teacher, opts for the model of in-person weekly classes. And this is a great model, and for many years this is how I consistently made money as a yoga teacher. But……. This only goes so far, there are only so many classes you can physically teach in a week and how many people you can fit into a room. Other ways yoga teachers make money and share the light that is yoga, include workshops, retreats, 1:2:1s, training programmes, and cohort-based specialist courses. These too are great, and I thoroughly recommend expanding into some of these options when you feel ready. But…… All of the above requires you to trade your time and your services for money and this has a ceiling. If you want to earn more and help more people, then you have to do more = burnout. Create an online yoga course? What if you leveraged your time for money, created online offerings which meant you didn't always need to be physically there, or you could help way more people in one go. Leveraging your time online opens the door on your earning potential as yoga teacher, and one I thoroughly recommend you open. So, at this point your brain starts to tell you that you're no good with technology, you wouldn't know where to start or there are loads of free you-tube videos – right?! What if this wasn't true? Sign up to my Leverage training for just £39, self-study training for yoga teachers showing you how to create and sell your online course or membership in 5 easy to manage steps! - https://amy-yoga.com/leverage-start-sell-and-scale-online/ Work with me? S1 Ep 15Ep. 15 - How do I start an online yoga business?
Here are some fact there's just one of you and only so many people you can fit into a room, teach 1:2:1, accommodate on a retreat or teacher training course, and there's certainly a limit to the number of weekly classes you can physically go out and teach. Offering in-person yoga isn't bad (or dead), but what if you added in an online offer too? What if you created a class, a course, a membership or an online teacher training programme, and it meant you could help more people in less time and make more money? Which in turn gave you more energy is all areas of your life – including showing up for your in-person clients! What if you just committed to the action and created an online yoga business? At this point your brain is probably saying some of the following: I have no idea where to start I have no idea on the tech front I have no idea what to offer online I am not ready (one more training course…….) I'm not great on video and my bum will look big (the last one was definitely one of my blocks!) Of course, your brain is doing this – she wants to keep you safe, so thank your beautiful brain, move on and listen to Leah's inspirational story. Leah is a great person to learn from, she's a couple of years into building her online yoga business, and she's those few steps ahead of where you are now. Your beautiful brain will most likely be drawn to the big names, those with huge online courses business (who BTY probably have been in the game for 10 plus years and have a team!) They prove it's possible, if they can do it so can you, but also look for those a few years ahead of you, they're often the ones who can help you the most when you start out. This episode is insanely good – I am just going to say LISTEN, soak it up and take it all in! S1 Ep 14Ep.14 - What qualifications do I need to be a yoga teacher?
For UK based yoga teachers the answer to this may surprise you – NONE! Yoga is not regulated by the UK government, not only that there is no legal requirement to have public liability insurance to teach. So there are really no qualifications that you need to be a UK Yoga Teacher, from a legal point of view. Now I'm not suggesting for one minute that you just go out tomorrow and start teaching, leave out the giant step of training and what I believe to be the essential step of having insurance. But it's worth noting that this self-regulating (as it is un-regulated) world that is yoga teacher training is totally made up! This isn't a bad thing actually. I think the pros greatly out way the cons, but it can make it tricky navigating how and who we should train with. And it doesn't get much easier to navigate from a trainer's perspective. There's not a one-size-fits-all in terms of education (that's education full stop). It is a good thing that there are many ways to train to be a yoga teacher, this choice means you can find the right course and trainer for you. Advice for yoga trainers! And if you're a trainer here are some truths: in-person isn't better than online, it's just different; 3-to-4-week intensive YTTs are not bad, they're just one way into the profession that really works for some; and your course is totally unique as it's created by you, which is why there is room for us all. The reality is nobody cares how long you've trained for, how, and who with. The only person who cares about this is you, so focus on what will work for you. Avoid getting stuck in 'training procrastination' once you're trained just get out and teach! Don't forget the power of a specialism, such as pregnancy or yin yoga, and these shorter specialist trainings can be a great doorway into teaching yoga for the right person. Work with me? I've been a trainer for over 6 years now, and you can train online with me in pregnancy, postnatal and yin-yoga, check out all the courses here - https://amy-yoga.com/yoga-teacher-training/ And If you've taken onboard my massive hint at the end of this episode that perhaps it's not more training you need but support in running your business, then head over to https://amy-yoga.com/prosperous-yogini-programme/ to find out how we can work together. S1 Ep 13Ep. 13 - How Much Do UK Yoga Teachers Make?
According to google in 2022, the average salary of a UK-based yoga teacher is somewhere between £25,000 to £32,00 per year. I know from my experience of mentoring female yoga teachers that this figure can vary wildly and truth be told today's podcast isn't actually about average salaries of a yoga teacher based in the UK. It's about the mindset of money and how our collective beliefs could be keeping our incomes way lower than they should be. Here is some interesting data from Google about the yoga industry in 2022: UK yoga industry is worth approx. £926 million Globally the Yoga Industry is worth somewhere between $37 to $88 billion (several figures for this one!) 75% of all yoga teachers are women Add into this on average men still earn more than women in every country in the world. Women are hard-wired to over-deliver and under-charge, we're long-term suffers of imposter syndrome, and all of this keeps us under-valuing what we bring to the world, under-charging, and burning out! Ever questioned why yoga teachers believe it's hard to earn money when the industry (let alone the wellness industry!) is worth so much? Ever questioned why men earn more than women? When we begin to question what we just accept as truth we can start to re-write these truths, and I want a world where women know the value of their gifts and charge appropriately, creating a business that energetically and economically supports them and makes the world a better place! 3 top tips to improve how much you can earn as a yoga teacher: Do the maths on all your offers, what is your profit after costs (do you need to charge more, probably!) Keep doing the maths, track your money in and out of your business and commit to making profit a habit. Leverage – teaching weekly classes will only take you so far. I love my weekly classes, but they are just part of my yoga business. To fully share your gifts with the world and earn more money as a yoga teacher you need to diversify your offers and learn to leverage your time (more on this to come!) S1 Ep 12Ep.12 - How To Avoid Business Overwhelm
Being stuck in the feeling of overwhelm is certainly one of my most common self-sabotaging behaviours! Is it one of yours? That feeling of having so much to do, that we don't know what to do, or how to do something, keeps us spinning around in circles, wasting negative energy, and ultimately doing nothing! Feeling overwhelmed is pretty understandable as a solo entrepreneur, we wear many hats and have many roles within our business, teaching yoga is the service we offer, this is just one part of your yoga business. Overwhelm is a stress response, a negative one and that's never a good thing. How to navigate overwhelm Here's how to work your way out of feeling stuck and overwhelmed: Come up with a strategy - what are the steps needed in order to complete the task(s) that currently feel impossible? How much time will this take? (Be generous with your time) Set aside time to do this task and commit to doing nothing else in that planned slot of time. Other useful tips What are your glass balls and what are your plastic balls e.g. what can you drop for now (the plastic ones!) Can you get help from friends, family, or paid help. S1 Ep 11EP11 - Mindset Is Everything When Running Your Business.
Today I am inspired by a brilliant quote by Denise Duffield-Thomas - "Mindset is everything, the rest you can google". She couldn't be more right! Everything on the tech front can be figured out, and teaching is a skill you simply have to practise (so get out and teach btw!), keep practising and just share your love of yoga, the rest will follow. But your beautiful brain may have other ideas! Your brain is hardwired to keep you safe, loved and alive – thank you dear brain! But this sometimes impacts our thoughts and therefore you must remember this formula: Your thoughts create your beliefs, your beliefs inspire your actions (or non-action), and your actions create your results. This cycle is going on in every aspect of your life, including your yoga business, and right now a whole load of mind-stuff trash could be stopping you from sharing the gift of yoga with the world and making money! This isn't about over-come self-limiting beliefs, I'll tell you now you can't overcome being human, so give up on that endeavour, plus being human is pretty cool! It is sometimes about feeling the fear and doing it anyway, but largely it's about working from a place of compassion and expanding your zone of comfort. This is how you create and grow your dream yoga business. It is not easy doing this work alone, and the good news is you don't need to! S1 Ep 10Ep. 10 - Your Yoga Business And The Recession
It is pretty understandable if your beautiful brain right now is in panic mode, and assuming that people will no longer be able to afford your yoga offers. But this is simply not true, the previous recession in 2009 and the covid pandemic proved that despite these external events the yoga industry continued to grow. The world needs yoga, especially in times of stress! We can't control external events, but we can control our response. Imagine if you pretended that covid didn't happen and continued to try to keep your in-person classes going during the lockdown. It simply wouldn't have worked. The same is true now, you can't pretend that the recession isn't happening, and it's prudent to begin to consider if you need to, and how you may adapt. Yoga teaches us nothing is constant, everything is subject to change and this applies to your yoga business. The definition of madness is doing the same thing and expecting a different result, so if you have something not working, perhaps it's time to mix things up. How may you adapt and diversify your offers to continue to serve? 100% review your prices, if your costs have gone up, or you adapt your offers to add more value, your prices should reflect this. And remember, despite external events the yoga industry has grown and is projected to continue doing so! S1 Ep 9Ep.9 - What's The Best Time For A Yoga Class
This has come up quite a bit recently for those of you with whom I'm working with in my mentorship programme, and it's pretty common that we spend time (probably too much time) debating when, where and how we should do something. The bottom line is there is no one perfect time for your yoga class, and one of my favourite sayings I've stolen from my surfing pursuits is if you don't go, you don't know. Sometimes you have to test the water, see if it's going to work and not rely on your beautiful brain's assumptions. A little caveat here is to not spread yourself too thinly when it comes to the number of weekly classes, sometimes less is more, get those 1 or 2 classes full first before you add more of the same class to your schedule. Why run your yoga business alone? Deciding all of this stuff alone is not easy, being a sole trader or solo entrepreneur, means that you are your own boss, and that you answer to you and to you alone! That's one of the massive pros of working for yourself, but the con is when making decisions we can drive ourselves mad going round and round in circles! The benefit to those in my Prosperous Yogini Mentorship programme is that they can ask me for support anytime, and I guide them into making the right decision for them. So why do this alone, when you don't have to? Watch and listen on You-tube! https://youtu.be/Q4u-3YbnrHg Work with me I would love you to join my Prosperous Yogini mentorship programme, I can support you to create your own profitable, sustainable yoga business. If you don't yet have a mailing list, have a vague notation that you need one, and would like to not have to rely solely on social media then this episode is for you! Welcome to the team my lovely – Yes, I do have a mailing list, I do send regular emails and I am making an effort to grow my list. How did I get to this place, well it's very much like episode 5 and how to build a website, I just decided it was going to happen! It is very easy to slip into overwhelm with all the things you 'should' do when it comes to email marketing, the net result is many of us completely right it off as something we can't do (that's for 'clever' trained people or lucky yoga teachers who have just somehow made it happen?!) Where to start when using email marketing No. You can 100% do this and any yoga teacher that has made it happen, isn't lucky, they've just proved it's possible and you can do it too. Here and my 3 basic steps to get started: Sign up to an email marketing provider – I really recommend Mailerlite (and please use my affiliate link if you do sign up with Mailerlite). But other ones include Mailchip, Converter-kit, and Active Campaign. Or if you have a Wix or Square space website, or use Kajabi, they all have email marketing built in, so use what you already have. Any emails you have from clients that come to your classes, workshops etc, email them and invite them to join your mailing list (you need their permission). Send an email to your list – however ever big it is! My mailerlite affiliate link - If you're interested in signing up for mailer lite and would also like to support me (thank you!), please use my affiliate link to sign up to create your Mailer-lite account - https://www.mailerlite.com/a/1rinot31bzfg Once you're at this point next steps include: Adding a subscribe here/opt-in on your website (you-tube will tell you how to do this!) Create a lead magnet (say what?) – this is a fancy term for 'offer something for free'! For example, access to a class recording, mediation, PDF workbook in exchange for their email to encourage people to join your list. And remember, they are people, not email addresses, so talk to them via email. This is your email marketing strategy! S1 Ep 7Ep. 7 - The power of working with a coach or mentor
With the launch of my new mindset and business mentorship programme for female yoga teachers and other solo wellness entrepreneurs last week, it felt fitting to talk about the benefits of working with a mentor or coach in this episode. Today, I share with you the impact that working 1:2:1 with a coach has had on my business and of course why you should join my Prosperous Yogini Mentorship programme! Could you imagine where you'd be in terms of your yoga practise if you'd only ever practised by yourself and did the odd free class on YouTube? The power that a good teacher has to support, inspire and encourage you in the right direction is priceless. For example, I personally would have never tried inversions if it wasn't for the support of my teacher encouraging me to expand my comfort zone and try them! So, my big question to you as a business owner is, why are you trying to do this alone? I've been there, tried to muddle through by myself and lapped up all the free training going, but committing to investing in group programmes, memberships and recently working 1:2:1 with a coach has been some of the best decisions I have made for my business. What often stops us is fear of spending the money, but any good coach, mentor or group programme will help you make your investment back and some. What mainly stopped me for so long was imposter syndrome, the fear that when someone who knew what they were doing might look at what I did and tell me I didn't have a clue or was doing it wrong. Imposter syndrome is so powerful, we all suffer from it, and I wish I ignored it way sooner! S1 Ep 6Ep. 6 - Change Happens When...
Being a full time yoga teacher Today, I am joined by my gorgeous YTT co-tutor Jane Craddick to share her experience of becoming a full-time yoga teacher. Taking that action may seem scary and challenging but we'll find out what can happen when we follow the heart. Today is full of myth-busting evidence: Overworked, ill and broke Jane gave up her employed job to be a full-time yoga teacher and trusted this was the right path - and it was! Jane trained to be a children's specialist yoga teacher first, then did a 4-week intensive foundation YTT - there is no one 'perfect route' into being a yoga teacher. Working harder doesn't necessarily equate to more money. The power of collaborative working Running my teacher training with Jane has also driven home to me the power and importance of collaborative working. Being a yoga teacher can be a lonely life, finding like-minded teachers can transform your business. Why not train to be a yoga teacher with Jane & I?! Today's episode also seems like a good opportunity for Jane and I to encourage you to join our 300hr Foundation Yoga Teacher training course this Autumn! Committing to training to be a yoga teacher is a big, scary decision but it's one that can change your life! It's time to invest in yourself. There will be something that deep down you really want to do, change happens when you decide to do it, and have faith you're on the right path. S1 Ep 5Ep.5 - How To Build A Website
They say running a business is 80% mindset and 20% action - this is very true! How to build a website - it's really very simple, just DECIDE that it is going to happen. Commit, take imperfect action and make it non-negotiable, so those inevitable hurdles and obstacles don't stop you. Dedicate yourself to learning new skills and processes and set a goal/target – 'this will happen by…….'! That mindset shift is all you need; the rest will just happen. What if you already have a website? If you already have a website this episode is still very much for you, as I bet there is something you'd love to do right now but feel that you can't or are stuck in the feeling of over-whelm. I can speak with serious authority on this as I am no website designer! I had a rubbish, basic website for 12 years but my website was a big part of my business being profitable and successful. If I had taken it down because I thought it wasn't good enough, or too basic this would have been a serious mistake. I have now invested in a new website, which someone professionally built it for me, but I can still edit this site and yes do encounter the odd hurdle and maybe a few technology tears now and again! But this is all part of sharing my light with the world, which like it or not is online and I still frequently ask google if I want to know something. The mindset shift Decide, commit to the process, and take imperfect action – I CAN! https://youtu.be/eVN58freCFI Work with me? S1 Ep 4Ep.4 - Hey yoga teachers, are you just on social media?!
After a story I encountered last week where a business owner woke up to find their FB and Instagram accounts had disappeared and trying to get someone in FB (or Meta as it's now known!) to help them impossible, I felt compelled this week to encourage you to not just be on social media! Main takeaways from today's podcast Do you have two-step authentication set up on your FB/Insta accounts – if not DO IT NOW! You don't and can't be on every platform, be where you feel most aligned and happy. See social media as the icing on the cake, the last 10%, the invitation to your yoga party, calling out those you think who may like your party, and be ok with some people not wanting to come! But know That not everyone is on social media. Not everyone sees your content (aka party invitation). If you're just on social media you're creating friction, those who are not can't find you! Not to mention the massive friction you'll experience if for whatever reason you lose your accounts, and this happens ALL THE TIME! Actions yoga can take now Get a website, Wix, Square or Word-press can all help you quickly and easily create a good-looking site at not too much expense to you. Or if you don't want a website, have a landing page, a one-page website that helps people find out about you and buy your offers. This can also be the one link on your Instagram page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBjB6VMaKo4 Email lists, landing pages and Mailer-Lite Opening the door to grow an email list is one of the best things you can do. This can be done for free or at very little cost per month (like £9.99 pm)! I love Mailer-lite; you can start using it for free and then the paid option will more than likely give you all that you need for life! Plus, what's more, it's not just emails that it creates, but also landing pages, so you can solve your website and email list building issues in one go, at very little cost to you.
