Our featured interview tonight is with Kevin Foster. Kevin is a part-time pipe maker residing in Atlanta. His full time job is flying Boeing 767s for a commercial airline in and out of Atlanta, South America, and Europe. Kevin started smoking a pipe in college, on and off. He got back into smoking during the 2020 COVID lockdown, and while reading Rick Newcombe's book, "In Search of Pipe Dreams" where the author described the special way he liked to have his pipes drilled wider, Kevin became curious and inspired. He is just two years shy of pipe making experience, and has already developed quite a following. At the top of the show we will have a Pipes 101 Revisited segment with a discussion of the pipe shank.

Our featured interview tonight is with c. Ben is the Director of the Amsterdam Pipe Museum. He became the director in 2015, but has been involved with the museum since 2013. He was the Co-founder and Secretary of the Amsterdam Pipe Smokers Club from 2000-2010. The museum has over 2,500 pipes on display and "ten times that in reserve". They were all collected by one man over 60+ years. So, next time your wife tells you that you have too many pipes, tell her that it's all relative. Our featured interview tonight is with Paul Lucas. Paul is the pipe maker behind the Paw brand of pipes. By looking at his pipes, you would never guess that he's only been making pipes for three years. He started in 2020 during lockdown when he had nothing to do except to make pipes. One year later, he quit his job and became a full time pipe artisan. He makes both freehand and standard shape styles, but even his standard shapes are artsy. We have a pipe personalities packed show tonight. We've been running two different series with two different prominent pipe collectors and authors. We have "Inside Fred's Head" with Fred Hanna. He is the author of the book, “The Perfect Smoke”, and known for collecting straight grain pipes. The other series is a follow-up to Fred, "Rich Responds" with Rich Esserman. Rich has penned innumerous articles about pipes and tobacco for several publications, and he is known for collecting quite large pipes. We'll be featuring the final remnants of those two series all in this show. Our featured interview tonight is with Pete Prevost. Pete is a pipe maker and the President of the BriarWorks pipe factory in Columbia Tennessee. BriarWorks is a a pipe maker co-op with several other pipe makers, including Todd Johnson, who co-founded it with Pete. Brian and Pete will be talking about that as well as the up-coming 2023 Muletown Pipe Show which is held at BriarWorks. In a past life, Pete was the guitar player in the band Sanctus Real. Our featured interview tonight is with Chris Morgan. Chris makes the Bones Pipes and Morgan Pipes brands. Chris makes some extremely creative high grade pipes as part of the Morgan line. The Bones pipes are named as such as they are bare bones pipes that are great for beginners, or outdoors activities where you can throw it in a tackle box. He says, they are "the absolute least expensive honest briar pipe on the market." Chris initially made his mark almost ten years ago with his introduction of the "Briar Cigar". At the top of the show, Brian will have two interesting questions from newer pipe smokers, and he provides some impressive answers.

Our featured interview tonight is with Tim Beaumont from Papa Bear's Pipes. In 2018, Tim quit his job to pursue his passion of wood-working, and began making furniture. He had a piece of walnut wood that looked like it would make a nice pipe, so he made one. Next, he made one from the more traditional briar. Then he made another, and another and so on. We've heard similar stories before. Tim's pipes are beautiful works of art in classic, and freehand shapes. At the top of the show, Brian will have his annual gift giving ideas for pipe smokers.

Our featured interview tonight is with Sergio Castello, a pipe smoking enthusiast from Mexico. He lives in the capital city of Sonora, Hermosillo, near the border with Arizona. He is a vintner by profession, growing table grapes in his family's business, Viñedos 2000. His grandfather, a doctor, smoked a pipe, and although he never saw him smoke, he did see the pipe rack in his office as a kid, and would play with them and pretend he was smoking. When he was 18-years old he got into cigars, and then pipes. At the top of the show we have a tobacco review of a surprise gift that went missing for a year and a half of an L.J. Peretti blend.

Fernando is a collector of predominantly Leeds-era Ben Wade pipes along with seconds brands, pipe catalogues and price lists. His collection also includes cigar and cigarette holders and match vesta cases, boxes, pipe sleeves and pamphlets. He has also collected print matter including a company history and advertising. As if that's not enough, he has also conducted interviews (to the extent possible) with the living descendants of Ben Wade and children of the final proprietors of the company before its sale to Hermann Lane. Our featured interview tonight is with pipe maker Jason Patrick. Jason is from the Chicago area, and he started making pipes in 2019. Some of his earliest memories are of his grandfather smoking a pipe. He started pipe smoking in his early 20's, and soon decided that he wanted to make them. He started with standard shapes, and then branched out into Danish-style freehand designs. He likes to listen to our show while kayaking. He lives in Alaska, and there is a town named North Pole, and it's south of him. Like many pipe makers he has a background in carpentry. He was inspired to explore pipe making while buying a pipe in a store in 2014 and seeing a block of briar, which he also bought.
