The next day, Nancy's father Lee made the shocking discovery of the Langert's bodies; something that stuck with him for years until the day he died. The murders shocked the community of 12,000 people. For 6 months, residents wondered who would ruthlessly murder the couple and their unborn baby. Then a tip from one of David's friends led to 16 year old David Biro's arrest. When his background was looked into, what was found was disturbing. David Carter

Episode 121 David Carter In the Fall of 2018, 39 Year-Old David Carter of Melvindale, Michigan was a busy man. He worked a full time job, and had his own clothing line; Lavish Habits Unlimited. He even found time to coach youth football. He also had been in a relationship for 6 months with Tamera 'Tammy' Williams. But David, as busy as he was, was never too busy for his family who he was close with, especially his son DJ. He looked forward to DJ's visits, which is why it was surprising to DJ and DJ's mom Sonia when they both got texts from David saying he was sick and was canceling plans. DJ decided to go over to his father's apartment to get his phone charger, and that's when DJ had an odd encounter with his dad's girlfriend, Tammy. DJ saw Tammy outside of his dad's apartment and when she saw DJ coming, she ran inside and locked the door. DJ used his own key to let himself inside, and Tammy told DJ that his dad, despite being sick, had gone for a walk. DJ felt something was off and noticed that doors inside the apartment that usually were kept open were shut. DJ left the apartment but he had a bad feeling. On October 2, 2018 after a friend called David's family to voice concerns that he had not been to work in a couple days, David's sister Tasia and her husband went to his apartment and found it unlocked but there was no sign of David. Alarmed, Tasia called her and David's father Elton and DJ's mom Sonia to come over to help look for David. They were alarmed that the apartment wasn't tidy as it usually was. They called Tammy to ask if she had seen David, and she said she hadn't and she didn't seem too concerned that David was missing, David's family reported him missing to police, and when police and David's family searched the apartment closely, they found troubling signs that something bad had happened; including blood, and a bullet hole. The previous day, Department of Transportation workers found human remains, specifically a "lower torso and legs" inside of a sleeping bag in Eagle Township, Ohio over 100 miles away from David's apartment There was a pit bull tattoo on the left leg. That tattoo aided in identification of the partial remains as belonging to David Carter. The news was devastating for David's family. David's girlfriend was brought in by police and detained for 3 days before being released due to a lack of evidence. On October 10th, David's head was found in a black duffel bag and on October 16th, his hands and the rest of his torso were found wrapped inside a comforter inside a small suitcase. Both discoveries were made in Ohio along I-75. This allowed investigators to see that his killer had shot him once in the head, just below his left ear. There were no defensive wounds at all, leading investigators to believe that he had been shot while he was asleep. Having all of David's remains now, and knowing he was the victim of a homicide, police went back to arrest Tammy as the suspect in his murder. But there was a big problem. Tammy had fled, and today, her whereabouts are unkown. Authorities followed her trail to Chicago, and then New York where her the trail went cold. David's family is devastated by his murder and it's been made worse due to the prime suspect in his case fleeing, In this episode, David's sister Tasia discusses David's tragic murder, and how it's affected their family. David's case was featured on Netflix's Unsolved Mysteries in the Fall of 2022, but despite the publicity, Tammy remains on the run. There is a $10,000 reward for information that leads to Tamera Renee Williams' arrest. Tammy is an adult black female, 5 foot 5, around 180 - 200 pounds at the time she was last seen. She has a large tattoo of roses from her elbow to her shoulder on her left arm. call the US Marshals Tip Line at 313-234-5600 or you can submit a tip online at usmarshals.gov/tips To support this podcast with a donation, you can do so via Patreon at: https://www.patreon.com/TheMurderInMyFamily or through Paypal at: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/AbJackEntertainment To contact the podcast or learn more about the case we discuss, please visit: TheMurderInMyFamily.com Follow us on social media; Facebook- https://www.facebook.com/pg/The-Murder-in-My-Family-True-Crime-Podcast-998674943627334/reviews/ Twitter- @MurderinMyFam This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/4119331/advertisement

Katie Palmer

Episode 118 Katie Palmer On the morning of April 21, 2020, Katie Palmer, a beloved 39 year old teacher and mother of 2 in Dennison, TX was struck and killed as she took a walk in her neighborhood with her husband John. As the pair walked looking at birds, a truck driving on the wrong side of the road plowed into them both, knocking them out of their shoes and sending them 70 feet. John was severely injured and despite having a broken back, crawled to Katie's side to check on here but she was barely breathing and her eyes were fixed. Police and EMT's were dispatched to the scene. John was taken by ambulance to a local hospital and Katie was Medavaced to Plano, TX where attempts to save her failed, and she died from multiple traumas including severe head injuries. Back at the scene, it was determined that one of the Palmer's neighbors, Cory Foster, had been driving the truck that struck the pair. Body cam footage revealed that the state trooper questioning Cory Foster detected the smell of alcohol on Foster's breath, and Foster admitted that he had been drinking the night before. But astonishingly, the trooper did not give Foster a breathalizer until almost an hour later. When the results came in, Foster was just under the state's legal limit. Had he been tested an hour earlier, he may have been found to be intoxicated. As if that wasn't bad enough, a check of Cory Foster's background revealed a history of multiple driving infractions including driving under the influence, and reckless driving. Depite the clear fact that Cory Foster's actions led to Katie Palmer's death and John Palmer's severe injuries, officials in Grayson County, TX have refused to prosecute Cory Foster. Mary Hayre

Episode 117 Mary Hayre 74 Year-Old Mary Hayre was the glue that held her family together. The mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was a big part of her family's lives, but on February 27, 2021, Mary was killed in a senseless and tragic act of violence. She had gone to the Pinecrest Apartments, located at 1920 McMillan Avenue in North Charleston to get a cell phone her great grandson had forgotten at a sleepover. While she sat in her car talking to her daughter Pamela on the phone, someone walked up to the driver's side door of her car and began shooting at Mary. Tragically, Pamela heard it all on the phone call. Despite it being the middle of the afternoon on a Saturday, not many people came forward with information, perhaps because they were afraid to. Eventually one witness did come forward and from a photo lineup, they picked out a man named Zaswan Rosendary as the shooter. On March 5, less than a week after the murder, Rosendary was arrested and charged with murder as well as possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime. Just weeks later, Rosendary was released after information came to the attention of police; information that police are keeping close to the vest. The police and Mary's family are back to square one, and Mary's family is desperate to see justice done. Mary's daughter, Pamela, discusses the events of that tragic day in February, 2021, as well as her family's pleas to see Mary's killer held accountable. Joan Webster

Episode 115 Joan Webster 25 year-old Joan Webster was a second year architecture student at Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1981 and had a bright future ahead of her. But on November 28th of that year, Joan vanished. She had just arrived at Logan Airport in Boston after flying home from NJ to see her family for the Thanksgiving holiday. As a cab driver helped began to load her suitcase into his taxi, an unkown man stopped Joan and told her that they shouldn't take that taxi. Joan told the cabbie that she was with the man, and picked up the suitcase and walked away with the man to a nearby car parked in the taxi row. The bewildered cab driver dismissed the incident, and looked for his next fare. Joan Webster was never seen alive again. When her boyfriend, a fellow student at Harvard realized Joan hadn't come back to school following the holiday, he called her parents. That's when they realized Joan was missing, and reported her as such on December 2, 1981. That same day, Joan's red purse and her wallet - with about $100 in cash missing - were found, 14 miles north of Logan Airport. A man found them in a marsh - a known dumping ground for criminal elements - in Saugus, MA. Her tote bag, which she carried her credit cards and checkbooks in, as well as her suitcase were still missing. On January 29th, 1982 Joan's suitcase was found in a Greyhound Bus terminal. Extensive searches of the areas around the airport turned up no signs of Joan herself. Over the years, Joan's parents where called multiple times by people demanding money for information they supposedly had about Joan. One caller urged the authorities to look into another murder and named a suspect in the murder, but it failed to lead to Joan. Finally, in 1990, almost a decade after she vanished, Joan's remains were found along a creek area off Chabacco rd in Hamilton, Massachusetts, almost 30 miles north of Logan Airport where Joan was last seen. She was found nude; the victim of a homicide with evidence of head trauma. Due to the passage of time, and exposure to the elements, not much was apparently found in the way of physical evidence, and the case remains unsolved. The best clue in the case is the mystery man seen by the cab driver with Joan at Logan Airport. He never came forward, and was not identified. If you have information about Joan's case, please call the Hamilton, MA police at 978-468-1212 Joan's sister-in-law Eve Carson, who has written 2 books on Joan's case joins me in this episode to discuss the mystery of what happened to Joan. Wondery Presents The Execution of Bonny Lee Bakley

Wondery Presents The Execution of Bonny Lee Bakley On May 4, 2001, Bonny Lee Bakley was found fatally shot in a car on a dark North Hollywood street. The prime suspect was her husband, famed actor Robert Blake. But Bonny, a longtime con artist, had plenty of enemies. She left behind a trail of men she'd scammed, and she had a volatile relationship with Christian Brando, the troubled son of movie star Marlon Brando. Not since the O.J. Simpson case had the eyes of the nation been so fixated on a homicide. The search for Bonny's killer took detectives on an eleven-month odyssey across the country and through Hollywood's underbelly of hustlers, drug addicts, and would-be hitmen. It would be the most expensive murder investigation in LAPD history to date. This is the story of Robert and Bonny's toxic relationship, her shocking murder, and his chaotic trial. Did actor Robert Blake kill his wife? Or was the murder someone else's vendetta? From Wondery, and the team behind the hit series Hollywood & Crime (The Dating Game Killer, The Wonderland Murders, Death of Starlet) comes a six-part series about love, obsession and fame gone wrong. Douglas 'Doug' McMillin

Episode 111 Douglas 'Doug' McMillin On March 8th, 2009, just a couple days shy of his 20th birthday, Douglas 'Doug' McMillin was shot dead by intruders in his Allouez, Wisconsin home. Doug was shot in front of friends and witnesses as he tried to resist the intruders. The killers fled into the night and years later, the case remains unsolved. The investigation was hampered early on due to witnesses not fully cooperating, and police had to consider that the motivation for the home invasion and murder, was due to drugs and money being kept in the home. Doug admittedly dealt drugs which may have put him in harm's way. But who Doug was as a person can't be simply boiled down to 'Drug-Dealer'. He was much more. He was a kind, well-liked person with an artistic side, and a view of the world that was perhaps beyond his years. He was the type of person that made an impression with his younger brother James describing him as a "super nova" that he looked up to. His cold blooded murder devastated his family, and for the better part of a decade, James, has felt guilt that perhaps he introduced the killers to Doug. James discusses that in this episode, as well as what he feels are shortcomings in the handling of Doug's case If you have any information about Doug McMillin's murder you are asked to call Sergeant Holschbach at 920-448-6187. Michael Russell

Episode 107 Michael Russell 15 year-old Michael Russell of San Jose, CA was a typical teenager and high school student at Santa Teresa HS. He like other kids his age, was trying to find his way and fit in. He had dreams of starting a rock band. But when 2 of Michael's friends and classmates came to his home on November 10, 2009, Michael's life would be taken, and his dreams wiped out. Those two young men 16 year old Jae Williams, and 15 year old Randy Thompson attacked Michael in a pre-planned blitz, stabbing Michael and slashing his throat before fleeing the scene. Michael's uncle found him, but it was too late to save Michael. Police quickly zeroed in on the two killers and they were taken into custody. The investigation revealed that the pair had planned the murder for weeks, and it came to light that the 2 self described Satanists had even tortured and murdered animals. They showed little to no remorse and were sentenced to lengthy prison sentences after being found guilty of Michael's murder. Incredibly, a new law SB-1391 aimed at reducing the sentences of offenders under age 16, was enacted and it means that Randy Thompson may walk free at any time now, and that's a thought that has re-opened old wounds for Michael's family. Michael's aunt Kari discusses that law, Michael's murder, and his all too short life in this episode. This episode is sponsored by Every Plate America's Best Value Meal Kit. Annie Kasprzak

Episode 104 Annie Kasprzak Annie Kasprzak was a product of the foster system, being bounced around as a child. But when she was adopted by the kasprzak family, things began to look up for her and she finally had the solid foundation of a family to love and protect her. But when her adopted parents divorced, the shakeup within the family coupled with typical teenager issues caused some rebellion in Annie. When Annie was 15, she began dating a boy around her age named Chris Bagshaw. Annie thought that they were in love and soon, she began to tell her close friends that she was pregnant and wanted to run away with Chris. Then one day, she vanished from her Draper, Utah home leaving a note behind. As her frantic parents worked with police, the body of a young girl was pulled out of the Jordan river, and was quickly determined to be Annie. She had been severely beaten and tossed into the water. Police suspected Annie's boyfriend Chris early on, but after being given a tip by a supposed witness, they went in a different direction. When the tip proved to be bogus info, investigators came back to Chris, and this time they found crucial evidence implicating him in the murder of his girlfriend. Ultimately, he was found guilty and sent to prison. Annie's family was left to wonder what the future may have had in store for Annie if she had the chance to flourish with the support of a loving family. Instead, Annie's life was cut short by someone who supposedly cared for her. Annie's mom Veronica discusses this sad and tragic case in this episode.
