He’s worked in the United States and in multiple foreign countries to infiltrate child trafficking organizations. He has successfully dismantled dozens of these organizations and rescued children from slavery and exploitation. While working for the government, Ballard saw how much more is needed in the fight against child trafficking and exploitation across the world. In 2013, he and a team of former government operatives left the security of their careers to accomplish the work of rescuing children as a private foundation - Operation Underground Railroad. At O.U.R., Tim has created a team that can work in any jurisdiction and in conjunction with law enforcement to rescue children directly. After leaving the Marines, Rudy worked as a counter-terror contractor for the Department of Defense. He also competes and trains people for Adventure Racing and Martial Arts. In 2008, Rudy appeared on the HBO miniseries Generation Kill, a seven-part series based on Rolling Stone reporter Evan Wright’s 2004 book of the same name. Rudy plays himself, depicting his time as a member of the lead combat force that entered both Afghanistan and Iraq. The reality is women are desired by men who are naturally aggressive, which makes women a natural target. They are most vulnerable and there is statistical data that confirm that reality. ⚜️ When was the last time you practiced EPCQB? We are expected to know how to navigate dynamic and violent situations in any environment. We find ourselves deep in buildings all of the time but when is the last time any of us have trained gun fighting or close-quarters combat inside of a building? Have you ran these drills solo or with your team recently? Better yet have you ran these drills in a force-on-force format to know if your tactics are working or how good you are at executing them? If it goes down you will be expected to outperform another human being in a fight not only for your own life but most importantly for the life of that individual who is trusting you to protect them. CQB is an extremely crucial skill set for one of the most dangerous environments you may ever have to navigate with your firearm. I know that many of us neglect this segment of training and that is why I’ve joined forces with Jaeger and Low Signature Resource Center @lsrc_usa to create more training opportunities for private security professionals with regard to the competencies we are responsible for. This is one of the training segments we have implemented with a team at Bravo Research Group, my security company, and have found it to be extremely helpful in making sure we continue to gain an edge on our adversaries during times of peace. ⚜️Are protection strategies different for men and women? In regards to the basics of living a safer pattern of life, many of the soft skills are the same but for the hard skills, I believe there are many differences. In this episode, Shiva Hess @shivaluv and I discuss protection strategies most of which are appropriate for everyone but we also go into many tactics that are more advantageous for women. The reality of this life simply is that no matter how big and bad you are as a man, you must also develop an environment and strategy for protecting your women and children. This is a quick battlefield update from a Ukrainian soldier. This is not me choosing sides or taking a political stance, personally, I don’t believe I have good enough intelligence to really do that. Matt Pech is a man on a mission to make a difference. By battling his own demons and by winning the fight with himself first, he has become a force multiplier in the war to save veterans and help people unlock their own potential. It was such an honor to sit down with him for a few minutes to dig into not only the tools he’s used in making the most of his struggle but also the different tools he’s created for brave men and women designed to help them win their own personal battles… These are the things true warriors do when they return home. The war never ends but the battlefield always changes. Matt, AKA CHARLIE ONE served in the Army for 15 years, 12 of which were on a Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha (ODA). He has experienced nine overseas deployments, four of which were combat rotations to Iraq and Afghanistan. In 2015, after pursuing a career in Law Enforcement, he is now working as a Patrol Officer, Use of Force Instructor (FIGHT) and Tactical Rifle Instructor (SHOOT). He has also founded a non-profit, Ruck for Vets. An organization aimed at raising awareness for Veterans' issues and mental health. Lt. Col. Dave Grossman is a US Army Ranger, a paratrooper, and a former West Point Psychology Professor. He has a Black Belt in Hojutsu, the martial art of the firearm, and has been inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Col. Grossman’s research was cited by the President of the United States in a national address, and he has testified before the U.S. Senate, the U.S. Congress, and numerous state legislatures. He has served as an expert witness and consultant in state and Federal courts. He helped train mental health professionals after the Jonesboro school massacre, and he was also involved in counseling or court cases in the aftermath of the Paducah, Springfield, Littleton and Nickel Mines Amish school massacres. We are so honored to work with Col. Grossman because he is a multi-dimensional warrior in many ways. His seminal, groundbreaking, and industry-changing books on combat and killing simply revolutionized the space when they were published. He has been one man who has forever changed the way we look at the act of killing and heavily impacted our understanding of what our beings go through during active combat. Beyond all of these things, he has also written books in many different related spaces on topics such as violent video games and raising a generation to kill and also spiritual warfare. He has truly cemented the idea of being a sheepdog and a protector of the flock into the cultures of our world today. As our mission is to make the world a safer place by helping good people become more dangerous, it is a genuine honor and privilege to align with a man who has made such monumental contributions in the exact same mission for many decades now. I find it interesting that both of us love the hard skills but cannot stress enough the importance of various soft skills to truly be the skill sets that actually keep people safe most of the time.
