Ep 58Mick Garris' Bag of Bones Miniseries
EPerhaps it was penance that brought Pierce Brosnan back to Stephen King’s Dominion. Join Losers Randall Colburn, Mel Kassel, and Dan Pfleegor as they spend a good chunk of their dissection trying to figure out if the miniseries is so bad that it’s good or just, you know, good. Elsewhere, they touch on the scares, the script, and what happens when you excise (most of) the sex from what is easily King’s horniest book.Follow us on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | PatreonHosted on Acast. It’s also horny. Really horny. Join the Losers as they shack up in Sara Laughs for a sprawling, two-part discussion of the novel’s tumultuous publication history, its potent scares, and its protagonist, Mike Noonan, who King describes as “probably as close as you could get to me.” Throughout it all, one question perseveres: "Was this King’s mid-life crisis book?" EFear Street is on the mind lately, thanks to Netflix's new trilogy of films this month from director Leigh Janiak (see: Fear Street 1994, 1978, 1666). Beyond King, however, the four discuss their Fear Street origins, their favorite titles, the recurring themes and motifs of the series, and why Stine's work continues to resonate with newer generations today. They also weigh in on Janiak's trilogy and debate whether or not the films capture the spirit and tone of the books. Upon opening it, they discovered not a person, but a bundle of decaying, handwritten pages. After transcribing them by candlelight, the Losers realized they were reading the teleplay for the lost first episode of Season 3 of Hulu’s Castle Rock. Naturally, your humble hosts sought to bring the script to life in the best way they know how: By turning it into a podcast with no affiliation whatsoever to Hulu or the creators. Today, The Losers' Club is proud to present the first of the audio drama's three acts, which begin with the arrivals of a Dark Man, a beleaguered detective, a fire-spewing vigilante, a psychic drifter, and horror’s most famous vintage automobile. It's a story as engrossing as it is asinine, and littered with more Easter eggs than you can count on, well, 19 hands. Stream the first episode now and stay tuned for Act II and Act III to follow in the coming weeks. Rest assured, all three acts will be stitched together as one long episode come August.Production by Cat Blackard. Edited by Kyle Orozovich. EFor this very special crossover episode of The Losers' Club. Together, they discuss Herbert’s vision of Dune as a Utopian novel, its box office potential (or possible lack thereof) when Denis Villenueve's adaptation hits theaters later this year, how it’s more complex than a lot of other well-known sci-if/fantasy epics, how it dispels the hero narrative, and, naturally, where it intersects and diverts from The Dark Tower seriesFollow via Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | Patreon.Hosted on Acast.
