Ep 7373: The Ultimate Strategy to Balance Your Life

How do you balance your life according to God's plan? Creating a schedule that puts the most important things first like your time with the Lord, your family and friends before anything else. Regardless of your job or career there is a way that you can prioritize your daily, weekly, monthly and yearly calendar to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ, to spend more time with your wife and show your loved ones they matter. Jeff's good friend and guest Barry Wallis provides key insight and practical tips that you can apply in your own life to maintain balance week after week while honoring the Lord, uplifting others, and giving you time to just unwind. Key Tips: God tells us the order we should plan our lives. The Lord first, our wife and family second and everything else last. Often times we don't review what we've written down on our calendar. Make minor adjustments to your schedule periodically, so you don't get off track in your life. Every man needs to ask himself three questions: Where have you been, How long have you been there, and where are you going? Put the big rocks in first in your life. Ep 7272: How Your Faith Helps in Personal Tragedy with Dr. Jamie Aten

Today's guest, Dr. Jamie Aten, gives practical tips on how your faith in Jesus Christ can get you through any tragedy. As a natural disaster psychologist Jamie was faced with his own personal tragedy when he was diagnosed with colon cancer. Jeff Jerina and Dr. Aten discuss the issue of faith and how it can help you overcome your own personal tragedies. What's the difference between pain and suffering? What's the role of community when walking through a personal disaster. What about the practice of spiritual surrender? All of this and more on the Men Unplugged podcast. Key Points: Real strength comes from relying on the Lord in every situation rather than depending on our own strength. God does not promise us an answer to every tragedy, but He does promise that He will give himself to us. We need to practice spiritual surrender when we face difficult times. Spiritual surrender isn't passive, its one of the most willful and obedient acts that we can engage in as a Christian. Recovery always takes place in community. Ep 7171: Three Reasons Why Men Stop Going to Church

Why are more men not attending church or staying connecting with another body of believers? Whether it's in a big congregation or a smaller Acts based church meeting in someone's home for Bible study, prayer and fellowship some men are checking out spiritually. Jeff and today's guest, Steve Bonenberger, discuss 3 reasons why this is happening and what the body of Christ can do about it. You'll also hear another reason along with some ways you can overcome this as a man. If you're a pastor struggling to reach the men of your community, this episode will give you practical solutions to engage those within your community spiritually and relationally. Key Tips: Whatever your situation is as a man, you're not alone. God is right there. Also, there are communities of men you can reach out to. Reach out to Men Unplugged and be part of the growing Men Unplugged community. Whatever your age and stage of life as a man, whatever your uncertainties, personal struggles, family issues, or financial troubles they are not a reason to abandon God. No matter what's going on in your life, good or bad, a big part of that purpose is to seek the face of God. To find comfort and rest in Jesus Christ. It's ok to not be okay. In the middle of that mess is where God finds people. If you're a pastor or ministry leader be sensitive to the need's of the men in your church. Ep 2626: Digging Deep for Biblical Truth with archeologist Dr. Steven Smith

Jeff Jerina interviews archeologist Dr. Steven Smith about the work he and his team are doing in Israel right now. The ancient biblical artifacts and explanation of each one will ignite your faith in Jesus Christ and reaffrims the inerrancy of Scripture. This podcast interview will kickstart your day as you experience the Bible through a real life Indiana Jones like archeologist Dr. Steven Smith. Jeff reminds men that you can find and live your God-given purpose through resources on the Men Unplugged website. Dr. Smith shares that he started preaching at the age of twelve. Resources mentioned in this episode: Find Your Purpose at MenUnplugged.net/purpose Strand Study Bible personality type finder Teaching to Change Lives Courageous Leadership His Needs Her Needs Reminder that even the power of Rome could not stop the growth of the early church. Dr. Smith tells Men Unplugged listeners that he and his archeological team have gone to Israel and found some amazing ancient biblical treasure. Some of these include digging up the early church. Steven Smith talks about ancient gold tablets written on in ancient Greek (first century Greek) out of Israel. No one was able to translate these tablets in the heads of language departments in seven universities across the world. Dr. Smith was the only one that could translate these ancient tablets. His specialty is early Greek. He has taught himself through hours and hours of research and work studying ancient Greek. This has opened up information with pictures or icons which are a language in themselves. Similar to these tablets acting like a Rosetta Stone. Dr. Smith notes that this is key in understanding the history of the early church. Dr. Smith notes that the archeological sites in Israel he has seen have an icon on them, most do not have inscriptions. Jeff asks what the significance of Dr. Smith's findings in Israel are for a Christian today. The significance is to understand the early church as Jesus Christ designed it. The elements we're missing in the church today. The passion, the fire. How did the early believers know so matter of factly that God is real; that the Bible is real and that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and that he is returning. They knew it so matter of factly that they were willing to die for it. How, because they saw it everyday. What if we had just a fraction of that passion in our hearts in our churches today. Jeff states there would be an evangelistic boom or effort across the entire globe. Dr. Smith talks about the rebuilding of the temple in Israel. He notes initially the temple was an object lesson for the Israelites. It taught God's people about the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only sacrifice we need. Jesus is the High Priest. Jesus died for everyone. Every element of the temple declares Jesus Christ is the Messiah. Dr. Smith looks at Revelation 7 and the tribulation. Jeff encourages men to tell others (co-workers, neighbors, whoever) about Jesus Christ because we need to be acting like warriors of Jesus Christ. Dr. Smith explains the significance of his work for non-believers. One thing that Christianity has over other religions is our archeology. Followers of Jesus Christ can back up the inerrancy of the Bible through archeological evidence. Jeff and Steve talk about setting up a special deal for Men Unplugged listeners to go to Israel on tour with Dr. Smith to see the early church sites and more areas from biblical times. Dr. Smith shares the impact of his work in Israel on his own life. He states that he feels like he is reading the Bible for the first time because it helps the Bible make so much more sense. Because he's been there to the actual sites from the Old and New Testament. Dr. Smith talks about the rebuilt temple in Israel. Jesus Christ has already conquered death so as believers we have no fear. Dr. Smith talks about their highly secure dig sights in Israel and his finding of the oldest ancient Hebrew inscription, alphabetic inscription and the oldest inscription found on earth today (4,000 years old). It goes back to the patriarchs almost back to Noah's ark and this inscription proves that Israel was in the land a long long time ago. The site they found is the second holiest site in the Bible. Dr. Smith talks about a television series being put together on these archeological sites he and his team are looking at. Jeff asks Dr. Smith to talk about his teams archeology work and if there was ever a time they found something they did not expect. Dr. Smith mentions that the first time he went to Shiloh where the tabernacle stood. Dr. Smith excavated a place listed in the Old Testament, Eli's house. Dr. Smith talks a little about keeping the Shabbat. He talks about Church history. Steve Smith gives a brief overview of the sites that a man will see on Dr. Smiths tours. He can take you to places Jesus Christ walked, where Mary was born. These places will make the Bible come alive. Five star accommodations. Doing more in 2 days
