Show Notes

Hello everybody and welcome to the “Health Upgrade Podcast”

In today’s episode, we are talking about something that most people wouldn't consider a topic that the vagus nerve or the nervous system, in general, is actually heavily involved in!

Today we are discussing atherosclerosis - one of the major causes of heart attacks and strokes, which are two of the more common reasons for mortality - morbidity within the North American population. Atherosclerosis is a process that occurs in many people and it includes the immune system, responding to damage of the endothelial lining. So we're going to dig into the role of the nervous system, the autonomic nervous system, and the vagus nerve, in particular, in controlling or eliminating atherosclerosis.
