An Oklahoma Catholic school was refused government funding due to its ideology and worldview taught in the curriculum. The US Supreme Court concurred, finally acknowledging that only a secular humanist curriculum may be supported by tax dollars. The state would have to impose limits on curriculum choices. Two points. Education is not neutral. And education must reside under parental funding and control. Twenty-nine states have brought in vouchers, tax credits, etc., for students over the last several years. This has established a strong conservative movement across the states—a restoration for the nation is on the horizon, right? Not exactly. The minute we get something good going, the devil is always on the next train . . . or the government. What the government funds, the government controls. And despite the continual drop in the approval rating for the public schools, the vouchers aren’t helping people get their kids out of the public institutions: those attending private schools barely increased 0.35 percent over 10 years. So what gives? Is there a depreciating love for children? The bottom line is that we need the hearts of parents turned to their children, and those of the children turned to their parents. HB1312 is a bill in Colorado that goes against parental rights, essentially criminalizing parents for disagreeing with their children's gender identity and affirming transgenderism. The root of the battle in this nation primarily lies in the area of education and the seminaries. There’s been a 26-percent drop-off of MDiv students over the last 20 years, with the number of men pursuing MDivs dropping by 22 percent, and the number of women dropping off by 33 percent. But while the seminary attendance has dropped by 26 percent overall, the number of seminaries has increased by 20 percent. This means the smaller seminaries are growing and expanding across the country. We’re getting back into the discipleship boat with Jesus. You can’t mass-produce discipleship. You can’t over-specialize discipleship. Instead, we must bring our focus back the Bible as the foundation of all of our knowledge, and bring back relationships, one at a time.
