Defense may still need a little improvement. Tyreese Haliburton slipped in front of NBA Commissioner Adam Silver last night. Agness gives his preview of how the Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers will match up when they tip off later this week. He wonders why TJ McConnell and Daniel Theis weren't getting minutes. Halloween Bracketology. (1:37:06 - 2:02:38) - Andy defends one of Jim Irsay's latest Tweets. Irsay acknowledged that the Colts got the short end of the stick in their last game on Sunday and believes that all plays under two minutes should be open to review. (2:02:39 - 2:15:43) - Jason Hammer joins the show to talk about more sports betting picks. The "Gambling Degenerate" wants to take the over in the Penn State vs. IU game this weekend. (00:00 - 16:48) - A blow to the Colts position in the AFC South as the Jacksonville Jaguars won their Thursday Night Football match against the New Orleans Saints last night. Sunday's game between Indianapolis and Cleveland is dubbed the "puberty game" by Kevin. Buckner and Stewart have not played many games without each other, how that will impact the defense. Jonathan Taylor played the "it was the media" card in reference to his offseason drama. (16:49 - 22:13) - Morning Checkdown (22:14 - 42:26) - What ways will the Colts be able to surprise this Cleveland defense. The Browns have a generational defense that will require the team to find some unique ways to score. The Colts have not turned the ball over in any of their wins this season. Andy is crunching the numbers and listing the statistics this show instead of Kevin. KB thinks that at 3 - 3 the Colts still have a handful of opportunities to be a playoff team. Memories of Peyton Manning's return to Lucas Oil Stadium as a Denver Bronco was 10 years ago. (42:27 - 1:14:25) - Greg Rakestraw of the ISC Network and The Fan's Soccer Saturday joins the program. High School Football playoffs begin tonight and Rakestraw will have the call on Greenfield-Central vs. Pendleton Heights. Greenfield wants to win their first sectional since the 70's. Big early matchups for Sectionals as multiple 9 - 0 teams will be facing off. Barnhart breaks down the ALCS and NLCS matchups going on in the MLB post-season. The ten-year vet spent the last season with the Chicago Cubs and experienced all the new rule changes in Major League Baseball. He believes the rules have had an overall positive impact on the game. The pitch clock has accomplished its mission of speeding the game up, games were on average 30-40 minutes shorter than last season. Barnhart is asked why he thinks that his time in Chicago did not last as long as he may have hoped. What Indiana sports will he try and take in during the off season. (1:27:22 - 1:29:57) - Touch and go teasing Matt Taylor's appearance on the show. (1:29:58 - 2:03:18) - Radio voice of the Colts Matt Taylor joins the show for his weekly spot. Yesterday it was the news that Anthony Richardson is out for the season as they will be receiving surgery on their AC joint following an injury during a game against the Tennessee Titans. The Indiana Pacers will still be on Bally Sports this year. The team is offering a six game package that comes with a year subscription to Bally Sports. What does the roatation look like going into the final pre-season game, and how will the line-up look for the team when the regular season tips off? (1:25:08 - 1:31:46) - The 2023 Cleveland Brown's defense has been the hardest team to get a first down against in the NFL in the last 24 years. (1:31:47 - 1:57:12) - Will Carroll joins The Wake Up Call to talk about Richardson's surgery and potential recovery time. He says some of the surgeons consulted would use what is called a "Tight Rope" technique. Would Richardson have needed surgery if he was either left handed or played a different position? Carroll believes the bigger worry is if the arm will heal correctly instead of total rehab time. The type of fiber that will be used on Richardson was invented as recently as 2018. A little bit of talk about Aaron Rodgers and his comeback from similar surgeries. (1:57:13 - 2:10:21) - Jason Hammer of WIBC's Hammer and Nigel joins the show to talk sports bets. College or unemployed coach interviews were not impacted. The Colts made some roster moves in response to the Grover Stewart news. The team just continues to lose their top talent week after week for a variety of reasons and there isn't really anyone on the roster to get fans excited for their replacement. One caller on if the Colts should have signed Julio Jones. (43:42 - 1:15:52) - Stephen Holder of The Athletic joins the show and gives his initial thoughts on the Grover Stewart situation. He was surprised by the news as he says most of these announcements are never expected. Holder interviewed Jim Irsay earlier in the week and got the story on Anthony Richardson likely being out for the year. Holder asked Irsay about some parallels between this injury and the Andrew Luck situation. Would Richardson getting surgery by the end of October mean he could be a part of the full offseason program next year? (1:15:53 - 1:25:06) - Browns and Colts are looking like it might be an ugly game on Sunday. The over/under is set in the teens. Cleveland doesn't really turn the ball over on defense, but they manage to get a lot of 3-and-outs in the first part of the season. Andy loves Myles Garrett. (1:25:07 - 1:31:13) - NFLPA sent out a reminder to players that there are certain parts of tainted meat that could cause players to violate the NFL's banned substance policy. "Players are responsible for what is in their bodies." (1:31:14 - 1:59:03) - Zac Jackson who covers the Cleveland Browns for The Athletic gives a behind the scenes report on what Cleveland is expecting coming into Indianapolis. Deshaun Watson was practicing before, but probably still won't play. What young players are turning out and which ones need more development. Discussion about Bubba Ventrone and the possibility of him being a head-coach in Indianapolis. He was given an assistant head-coach position with Cleveland that likely lured Ventrone over there from Indianapolis. According to Jackson the Browns live in the QB and play caller's head. (1:59:04 - 2:10:36) - Pop Quiz (2:10:37 - 2:17:51) - Toady is the 8-year anniversary of the fake punt play against the New England Patriots for the Indianapolis Colts. Tuesday, 10/17 - Pacers Head Coach Rick Carlisle Gives His Thoughts on The Pacers Pre-Season, More Anthony Richardson Injury Talk
(00:00 - 13:11) - Tuesday's WUC opens to sad news as Anthony Richardson is done for the season as surgery seems to be the way the team will be going. It still isn't a 100% certainty but Jim Irsay said in interviews yesterday that Richardson will likely be out for the season. The news coming out of the Colts Camp seems to be a bummer for the past week. Some clips from head coach Shane Steichen about Richardson needing surgery. Rick Carlisle will be on the show top of the 8 o'clock hour. (13:12 - 20:24) - Morning Checkdown (20:25 - 40:32) - More discussion on Anthony Richardson's injury news. The probability of surgery or of rehabbing the shoulder. Kevin says that biggest thing he wants from this whole situation is clarity on the future. A bit of talk about the potential of where college basketball prospect Boogie Fland will be playing. Should the Colts already be thinking about drafting another quarterback? Kevin brings up the statistic that 1 out of every 6 times Richardson threw the ball, he got hurt. He also had a variety of different kinds of injuries. (40:33 - 1:11:44) - Pacers head-coach Rick Carlisle joins the show. Coach Carlisle actually had the chance to meet Colts head-coach Shane Steichen before the football season began. Moving to Pacers talk, Carlisle has really enjoyed the vibe of the team this season. Bennedict Mathurin is continuing to make strides as a potential future star. The team needs to work on fouling. Coach goes into detail about all the news draft picks and new signees, how they have performed up to expectations. The team has been picking up their 3-point shooting this pre-season. They are shooting 48 a game compared to the mid 30's last season. (1:11:45 - 1:21:50) - Is Shane Steichen going to change up the gameplan for the Colts next game? Less passing and more running. Steichen is always first to blame the coaching rather than the players. How much does that actually help the team though? (1:21:51 - 1:31:33) - More discussion over Stephen Holder's interview with Jim Irsay from last night. Irsay revealed that things are most likely leaning toward Richardson getting surgery but talks are ongoing. Talk turns to what are the other pieces that Indianapolis needs to address to turn this team into a championship contender. Several other players like Pittman are in a contract year, what can the Colts do if they want to keep him. (1:31:34 - 2:00:14) - Nate Atkins of the Indianapolis Star joins The Wake Up Call to discuss his story covering Michael Pittman Jr. and his reaction to Jonathan Taylor's new contract. Pittman thinks that every player has the ability to take a page out of Taylor's book when it comes to future contract negotiations. Given the Colts current injury concerns are they at risk of over spending on other position players in the short term. Atkins talks about how Richardson hasn't had time to fully develop a passing game. The Colts need to balance not bringing him back too soon, with teaching him how to stay healthy on the field. Which is a big ask for a 21-year-old rookie. (2:00:15 - 2:08:54) - Pop Quiz (2:08:55 - 2:18:48) - The Spanish announcers for Monday Night Football did not have a radio booth and were calling their game on the side of the field. The Show made the Peegs message board. Final touches on Anthony Richardson's potential surgery. Wake Up Call - Monday 10/16: Recapping the Mess of a Colts Loss on Sunday, Does Richardson Need Surgery?
(00:00 - 15:51) - The show opens with a recap of the Colts horrific loss to the Jacksonvill Jaguars on Sunday. Kevin says he thinks that Minshew really wanted to prove himself in this game and then had a very out of character performance. Minshew threw 4 interceptions in the game. The Colts didn't seem to match the intensity that should have been there for a rematch against a divisional opponent you lost to at home earlier in the season. (15:52 - 21:55) - Morning Checkdown (21:56 - 41:31) - Colts special teams did not help their case yesterday. Andy says that Indianapolis has a small margin of error in their games and when your offense is struggling every other factor of your game counts. Kevin thinks that Minshew really starts to limit the offense with his abilities. (41:32 - 1:11:34) - Kevin found himself asking "why" more than "how" yesterday with a lot of the Colts play calling. Andy compares the amount of passes Minshew threw to a radio host who gets all his info out in the first segment. Minshew has played for multiple colleges and multiple NFL teams already in his professional career. He is the kind of player to have a chip on his shoulder. The guys start to take some calls about how one dimensional the Colts offense has become without Richardson. (1:11:35 - 1:22:25) - Kevin went to the Butler bowl on Saturday to catch some Bulldogs football. Anthony Richardson has really only played a handful of segments before potentially getting injured for the year. If Richardson sitting out due to surgery keeps him healthier for longer then Colts fans should embrace the possiblity of him getting surgery. (1:22:26 - 1:29:27) - Another caller chimes in and poses if it's time for the Colts to tank again and just try to get another quarterback because of Anthony Richardon's injury history. Kevin says there is a chance the Colts may have to look at that possibility while Andy thinks that it isn't worth the thought at this point. (1:29:28 - 1:56:03) - Andy begins the third hour by saying that no team really feels like the dominant NFL team this season. Everyone seems open to losses which is what makes the Richardson injury hurt so much. Did Minshew let the pressure of playing for his former team get to him? Steichen's play calling was questionable yesterday. The Colts face one of the best defenses in the league next week against the Cleveland Browns. The Jacksonville game took the wind out of the Colts sails several times with the interceptions. (1:56:04 - 2:05:34) - Fan Reactions of The Game. (2:05:35 - 2:12:27) - GOAT(goat) of The Week. Should Andy take his dad to the Pacers final pre-season game?Support the show: https://1075thefan.com/the-wake-up-call-1075-the-fan/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Thursday 10/12 - Colts vs. Jags rundown, Will Richardson Need surgery? Minshew is in as Starter and More!
(00:00 - 14:54) - Thursday's WUC begins with a "bummer" talking about last nights events with the Pacer's pre-season loss to the Houston Rockets, and the Colts injury news. The Colts are looking to take a sturdy lead in the AFC South over Jacksonville on Sunday. Anthony Richardson was in a sling in practice the other day. Would you rather Richardson return for the final three games of the season below 100% or wait until next season but he has to get surgery. (14:55 - 19:54) - Morning Checkdown (19:55 - 43:37) - More reactions on the Anthony Richardson news regarding his injury and how much time he will be out for. Is surgery on the table? (43:38 - 1:11:35) - Mike DiRocco, the ESPN writer for the Jacksonville Jaguars joins the show. The guys and DiRocco do a quick recap of the Jags season and their last win in London over the Bills. Mike settles the question of "did the Jags get to pick their opponent or do they just get a guaranteed home game". What can Colts fans expect from Gardner Minshew as a starter? (1:11:36 - 1:27:20) - From one guest to another as James Boyd of the Athletic calls in to discuss more Colts football. What happened when the Jonathan Taylor news broke while Boyd was getting a haircut. He had to hop out of the chair and get an article written in the barbershop as soon as his haircut was finished. The one question he wishes he could have asked Taylor was "would he have played for the Colts again if the extension never happened." More talk regarding Richardson's injury. It was alarming to Boyd when Richardson could not lift his throwing arm. (1:27:21 - 1:31:17) - Rodger Goodell to sign another NFL commissioner contract. Some birthday shout outs. Sam makes a bet on the Phillies. (1:31:18 - 1:56:20) - The classic iPhone vs. Android debate. What to expect with Minshew taking the reins on offense for the bulk of the season now. Should the Colts try to ride the hot hand with Zack Moss after one of the best games of his career, or is it time to just let Jonathan Taylor get back to his spot as the primary back? Kevin gushes over some Notre Dame for a little while. The first two rounds of the NCAA basketball tournament will be here in Indianapolis. (1:56:21 - 2:09:00) - Jason Hammer of WIBC's "Hammer & Nigel" joins the show to talk some sports betting picks for the week.
