Today I'm going to talk about the "change of life". I've had many moms reach out to me and want me to talk about it. I hesitated because I wasn't sure how much help I would actually be. Ep 502How Should Believers Handle Suffering? (Podcast 491)
I wanted to take some time to talk about suffering because I know many of us are currently experiencing trials and tribulations that could easily undermine our faith and cause us to doubt the sovereignty and goodness of God. Suffering is hard. It can be exhausting and discouraging. As believers must have a theology of suffering. In other words, we must know how to respond to suffering with faith. To know this, we have to be taught from the scriptures. Letting our faith impact our suffering changes everything and brings hope in the midst of what could otherwise destroy us. Today, Wes is back to talk about how believers should handle suffering. Ep 466The Importance of Asking Our Kids Questions (Podcast 455)
Do you ask your kids lots of questions? This is one of the best things I did with our kids as we raised and homeschooled them. We have an unusual opportunity to really know our kids and gather important information that can help us guide, direct, teach, and encourage them. In today’s episode, we will be drilling down on both the importance of asking questions and ways to do that. Ep 465Teaching Our Kids the Attributes of God (Podcast 454)
Have ever wondered how to truly instill in your child the truth about who God is? A person’s view of God affects their entire life. The view of God that our kids have will likely determine whether they will embrace biblical Christianity for themselves or not. Imparting this knowledge is an essential, not optional part of parenting our kids in the faith. But what does that look like with feet on the ground? Where do we start? How young do we start? Today I’ve invited Elizabeth Urbanowicz from Foundation Worldview to answer these and other questions. Ep 464College Alternatives: Alert Academy (Podcast 453)
We have all been repeatedly told that the traditional college setting is the only path to success but the truth is that it is all but obsolete. Only one of our kids went the college route, but all have been successful with or without college. I have a series of podcast episodes where I interviewed each of our grown kids who shared their journey after high school. (I’ll leave links below.) This year, I’ve spoken at 9 homeschool conferences and I’ve noticed more and more alternatives being offered for high school graduates so I decided to start a series of episodes I will share periodically called, "College Alternatives"! My guest today is Colonel Jesse Boulden from Alert Academy! Resources shared in today’s episode: ctcmath.com The Unhurried Homeschooler Unhurried Grace for a Mom’s Heart The Four-Hour School Day Subscribe to my monthly email and receive a free digital download of Encouraging a Homeschooling Heart Where Our Homeschool Kids Are Now: Brittney Jenna Jake Ben Luke Sam After this episode, I got clarification on whether there is any association with Bill Gothard. Here is what Alert Academy told me: Thanks again for having us on your podcast, especially in light of the drama with IBLP and the docuseries. I hope you haven't been getting too much flack on our behalf; I did notice you had to record a story about the whole situation. Colonel Boulden asked me to reach out and give a slight correction to your summary, and a few more clarifying details about our relationship with IBLP. We were started by Ron Fuhrman, who was on staff with IBLP at the time ALERT was started We became a separate 501(c)(3) organization in the early 2000s We still rent our campus from IBLP We do not use any IBLP materials in any phase of our training, and have not for years If anyone has any questions about our history or current relationship with IBLP, they can email us at [email protected] and we'd be more than happy to talk to them Again, I hope you don't get too much heat online from featuring us. Feel free to reach out to myself or Colonel Boulden if you have any questions. Thanks!
