Second-Wave Millennials [audio] With Warren Wright

On this episode we examine generations and our biases across: Boomers, GenX'ers, Millennial's and a group you may be unfamiliar with who are changing everything… they are "Second-Wave Millennials". Stay tuned…you are about to be riveted! Generational challenges abound in parenting, in teaching, in managing and in leadership. All to often, in working with Boomer and GenX leaders, I hear them talk about Millennials in less than complimentary terms. Saying things like: They have no work ethic. They're not loyal, they're entitled. They're spoilt brats who want to be entertained and have no respect for those who've paid their dues. So how can we as leaders find a way to put aside our generational biases, to get the best out of ourselves and tap into the potential of younger generations? Well, stay tuned because our guest is Warren Wright. He's a leading authority on generations and author of "Second-Wave Millennials": Tapping the Potential of America's Youth. He is Founder and CEO of Second Wave Learning whose mission is to prepare the next generation of leaders for tomorrow's challenges. Warren Wright is a guy who possibly has the most impressive resume I've ever come across. Warren started in radio and television advertising sales, and then in 1997, co-founded Jobfinder.com, which was sold in 2000. He then went on to become Managing Partner at Gallup, where his division provided polling results on Iraqi citizens for the U.S. Army during the Iraq war. It was at Gallup that he conferenced with world leaders such as Tony Blair, Shimon Peres, and Mohammad Khatami as part of a global effort to reconcile religious and political differences to promote world peace through the Co-Exist Foundation, a UK Charity founded by Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel with inspiration from his good friend Bono. On this episode we dive into: Second-Wave Millennials...Who are they and why should you care? Global data points and how most of what we think we know or expect is dead wrong! How we are in a very predictable crisis period, that gave raise to strong man politics How most of what we need to learn is held by those we ignore the most Why Second Wave Millennials were so supportive of an old guy...Bernie Sanders What's the difference between first and second wave Millennials How Second Wave Millennials are more conventional than the previous two generations. Why they are more serious and use far less drugs, and have far sex than previous generations. Who are the fading pragmatists Why Second Wave Millennials have a completely different time horizon than previous youth How Millennials deal with "Facts" Vs "Opinions" We look at whether there will be a backlash to the Trump era...will there be a "Blue Wave"? and so much more... In 2011, Warren began a partnership with author and economist Neil Howe, who coined the term "Millennials". Wright worked with Howe to build two companies—LifeCourse Associates, and Saeculum Research, both using the knowledge of generational theory for research and consulting. Warren is an accomplished public speaker, keynoting frequently at conferences and corporate events about the impact of generations in the workplace and society at large. Marcus Aurelius Anderson: The Gift of Adversity [audio]

Life after a brush with death… Could there be a Gift from Adversity? Mike Tyson famously said: "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth." You can have a perfect plan, you can have perfect execution of that plan, but what happens when the feces hits the fan? Do you crawl away find a hole and stay in it? Or do you allow it to catapult you out into something else… Something bigger, greater than your perfect plan… If so, how can you do that? Well stay tuned because you are about to find out; our guest on this episode is… Marcus Aurelius Anderson he is a bestselling author, TEDx and Keynote Speaker, and Mindset Coach to Leaders, CEO's and coaches. While preparing to deploy with the U.S. Army, Marcus Aurelius Anderson suffered a severe spinal injury that left him paralyzed. After dying on the operating table... twice, the surgeons saved his life, but told him he'd never walk again. Having no other option, Marcus started doing some brutally honest soul searching, looking for the lesson to be learned from his injury. Once he started seeing his Adversity as a gift instead of a curse, something miraculous began to happen... Marcus now speaks, writes, inspires and coaches others to overcome their own Adversities to actualize their personal definition of success. This is a powerful and awakening conversation that will have you reexamine many of your preconceived, most popular and even educated ideas about what real success is. We'll talk about The NDE (near death experience) and how the movies have it dead wrong! We'll confront the inner demons and how to kick ass, choke fear, leverage adversity, and throat punch self-doubt. How the person who pisses you of is probably your best teacher! Why the advice of Marine David Goggins could be fatal And Why everyone who tells you "it's all about adding value" is absolutely WRONG! Jared Angaza: Identity Architecture for Leaders [audio]

On this episode we'll be taking an insider look at…"Leading by example"…And why it might need to mean something very divergent than it used to! We all know that as a leader you are an example… but has sayings it become a cliche that means very little? If we are going to lead by example have we actually taken the time to self enquire what that example might REALLY be? If you have taken the time to genuinely do that, is it translating across your brand? What if discovering and living your brand is a sacred journey? Well stay tuned because our guest on this episode is Jared Angaza is a Identity Architect, author, podcaster, philanthropist, spiritual development coach, and philosopher. Over the past 20 years, he's leveraged the studies of behavioral science, consciousness, philanthropy, creativity, and culture to develop remarkable brands, events, and activism campaigns. Today, he continues to develop socially conscious brands, cultures of innovation, and advancements in technology that enhance the human experience and our relationship with our planet. As a leader and consultant he's on a life-long quest to expand people's perspectives and contribute to a more harmonious world. This is NOT your average everyday Leadership conversations....This episode is an adventure, a heroic journey into leadership at the most soulful level! For example we will speak about: In the wake of what could seem to be a new "war of the sexes" we'll examine the "false masculine" Leadership through the lens of feminine and masculine energy. The importance of imagination and creativity in deliberately designing our identity. Why the sweetest elements of life are as a result of discipline (and that's a gift, not a curse!) We dig into how to find your own sacred and heroic journey. The Cross over of Social Engineering and Cyber-security If you are a leader in any capacity you know; cyber security has never been more important… But in a time where we as leaders are encouraged to allow our people on-line interactions and for us all to be more open and personal… where is the line? How can we be cyber-safe with "phishing" "Smsishing" and "Vishing" You might be wondering what these are and why you need to care. Well stay tuned because you are about to find out; our guest on this episode is… Chris Hadnagy is the CEO at Social Engineer, LLC where he is chief human hacker, that uses his powers for good to increase the security posture of organizations and provide security awareness training. He is also the founder of the Innocent Lives Foundation, which helps track and capture predators who traffic and exploit children. Chris possesses over 17 years experience as a practitioner and researcher in the security field. His efforts in training, education, and awareness have helped to expose social engineering as the top threat to the security of organizations today. Chris specializes in understanding how malicious attackers exploit human communication and trust to obtain access to information and resources through manipulation and deceit. Chris Hadnagy is the author of several books the latest of which is: "Social Engineering" The science of human Hacking! In addition, he holds certifications as an Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) and an Offensive Security Wireless Professional (OSWP). We discus how governments have in the past, and how governments in are using hacking to take down democratic and non-democratic countries. How hackers have broken into seemingly impenetrable organizations and massively effected the economy (billions of dollars in a day) Why the biggest threat to your system is not what you think; it's not your software or even hardware... we'll show you what it really is. We talk about the conscious manipulation of the press We will cross over into the fascinating area of social engineering how we are being manipulated and what we can do about it. We dig into micro-expression and understanding unconscious human behaviour and how Chris Hadnagy and the forefather of the science Doctor Paul Ekman. We talk about how our non-verbal communication can be used to break in to your organization. Leadership as a Team Sport [audio] With Cody Royle

The Game of Leadership To win today we have to treat our top talent as team players, but how can we create a culture of high-performing teams that actually work? If we now refer to our employees as team mates, then maybe we should know how high-performing teams actually work. Cody Royal solves that… He's the Cody Royle: The Sports-Business Guy and he offers not only a look behind the curtain of pro sports, but a walk through what's really going on that makes a pro team excel, and how we can mirror this in business. Cody wants to bring the business of sports out of the 'motivation' category, and place it squarely at the centre of mainstream business discussion. He is the Head Coach of AFL Team Canada, and Author of the hit sports business book WOW "Where Others Won't." Cody's consulting focus is on recruitment, leadership, culture and high-performance. In this fascinating interview Cody Royle busts 3 mainstream myths: Myth 1: Retention is an effective measure of business health. The reality...tune in Myth 2: Your team must adapt to you and your leadership style. The reality...tune in Myth 3: Culture is a set thing that can be maintained irregularly. The reality...tune in Cody Royle has coached professionally in Australia while always working in sync with corporate organizations. It was in these dual roles that he got to see the gap he could fill. As Head Coach of AFL Team Canada, he was building a high-performing culture on the weekends, then working in the banking world Monday-Friday, he saw that his manager and mangers throughout showed mastery at maintaining a low-performing culture. This is when he realized that he needed to write his latest book: Where Others Won't. The focus is in bringing proven high-performance ideas to the forefront of business discussion. Cody then spent a year interviewing execs, coaches and players from the NFL, NBA, MLS, English Premier League, AFL and many other sports, as well as Founders/CEOs from a range of high-performing Canadian companies. If you are fascinated by sports and business, you will love this conversation!
