Working Through Conflict In Marriage and Parenting with Jayson Gaddis

Jayson Gaddis is an executive coach, author, podcaster, speaker, a global leader on interpersonal conflict and connection, and is the founder & CEO of The Relationship School. Today, he joins Larry to talk about his new book "Getting to Zero: How to Work Through Conflict in Your High Stakes Relationships", and discusses the importance of conflict resolution in relationships. Conflict resolution is vital for successful long-term relationships. Whether it's a family, a business partnership, or a team, we have to learn how to work through conflict in order to maintain a healthy relationship. When Jayson talks about "getting to zero," he means that it's our baseline for feeling good and connected. When there's no conflict or unresolved issues, we're at zero. But when conflict arises, our number goes up to one through ten, with ten being the worst. We can be triggered and activated, enraged, or totally shut down. Although Jayson doesn't like conflict, he has a passion for conflict resolution. He's motivated by the bad feeling he gets when he's at odds with someone. He wants to figure out a way to help the average person because conflict resolution isn't something we're taught in school or college. It's a vital life skill that everyone should learn. It's important to remember that conflict isn't always a bad thing. It can be a way to deepen our connection with someone. When we work through a conflict and get to the other side, we have a better understanding of each other and a stronger relationship. thedadedge.com/417 www.relationshipschool.com thedadedge.com/alliance 1stphorm.com/dadedge

You Have Everything You Need to Be a Great Dad with Dr. Meg Meeker

Dr. Meg Meeker is a renowned pediatrician, speaker, and author, best known for her best-selling book "Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters". Today, Dr. Meg Meeker joins Larry to explore the crucial role fathers play in their daughters' lives and discuss practical strategies for fostering strong, healthy relationships. Dr. Meeker also shared her wisdom on fatherhood and how dads can tap into their potential to positively impact their children's lives. One way for dads to connect with their kids is through affection. Affection is a powerful way of communicating to a child that they are seen, heard, and understood. It can be as simple as a pat on the back, a hug, or a high five. It doesn't have to take a lot of time, but it can make all the difference. When it comes to expressing your feelings, dads should not be afraid to open up to their kids. Kids need to learn how to express love, be affectionate, and be attentive and listen. Kids don't need to know all the mistakes you made when you were 17, but they do need to know that you have bad days and that it's okay to express your feelings. Overall, dads should recognize the important role they play in their children's lives and strive to connect with them through affection. A little bit of affection can go a long way and can help create a strong bond between a dad and his kids. www.thedadedge.com/friday98 thedadedge.com/bark www.meekerparenting.com Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters by Dr. Meg Meeker

Refusing to Wing Fatherhood with Dennis LeMire

Dennis LeMire is the Manager of FloSports, and co-host of the Man 2 Man Podcast, a show seeking to influence and coach men to pursue Christ and to become the men God called them to be so they can truly live, making strong impacts in their marriages, friendships, workplaces, churches and communities, and to help men discover their true identity. Today, Dennis joined Larry to share his experiences of being a father to two sons and openly talks about his struggles as a father and his attempts to stay half a step ahead in order to be able to offer his wisdom and advice. "Staying half a step ahead" is a phrase that is often used by fathers who are raising teenagers. This phrase speaks to the idea that a father should always be a few steps ahead of his teenage children in order to be able to offer them guidance and advice. Dennis mentions that the best way for fathers to stay ahead of their teenage children is to stay engaged with them and be willing to listen to their thoughts and opinions. Dennis adds that fathers should also be willing to ask questions and be open to learning new things. This will help them to stay current with their children and be able to offer them the best advice possible. Finally, Dennis said that as a father, you should be setting an example for your children and teaching them the values that they need to be successful in life. This includes teaching them how to be confident, how to be social, and how to love. By doing this, you will be able to ensure that your children have the necessary skills and values that they need in order to succeed in life. thedadedge.com/alliance www.thedadedge.com/friday97

The Ultimate Guide to Raising Teens and Tweens with Douglas Haddad

Douglas Haddad is an award-winning middle school teacher, international speaker, and best-selling author of the book "The Ultimate Guide to Raising Teens and Tweens: Strategies for Unlocking Your Child's Full Potential". He has taught over 3,000 students in 23 years as an educator, working with children from all different backgrounds and abilities. Today, Douglas joins Larry to talk about his book and gives valuable advice to all listeners, whether they have a direct or indirect impact on a child's life. Raising children can be a daunting task, especially when it comes to the teenage years. However, there are 3 keys that can help parents navigate this difficult period: Love, Listen, and Respect. The first key is Love. Douglas explained that all children desire to feel loved. This is the foundation for a strong bond between parent and child. When a child knows that their parents will always have their back even during difficult times, it opens the door for communication. The second key is to Listen. Douglas noted that children want to be heard and understood. This means more than just hearing what they have to say; it means listening to understand, not to reprimand. It is important to let children know that their thoughts and feelings are valued. The last key is Respect. Children desire to be accepted and respected. When they enter the teenage years, they start to break away from their parents and look to their peers for acceptance. It is important to show respect for the decisions they make, even if they are not what you would choose. When parents show these three qualities, it helps to create a strong bond between parent and child. It also helps children to feel valued and respected, which is essential for their development. By applying these three keys, parents can ensure that their children will grow up to be successful and independent. www.thedadedge.com/415 thedadedge.com/bark Never Give Up No Matter What by Mason Hagner

It is also important to provide your sons with positive role models. By having positive role models in our lives, you can help your sons to develop a strong sense of self and a strong sense of purpose. From Victim, to Content Zombie, to EXECUTOR with Richard Ziegler

Richard Ziegler, a 47-year-old entrepreneur and father of 10 children joined Larry today and shared some lessons he learned from his first long-term relationship of 20 years and his second relationship with his current wife and their 10 children. Richard shared that he has had to learn to focus on what he can control, rather than getting caught up in what he can't control. He believes that this is the key to success and has been using it to make progress in his own life. Richard's advice is to focus on what you can control. This means taking action and doing the things that you know need to be done, even if you don't feel like it. He also suggests using your time wisely. Instead of getting frustrated when you're stuck in traffic, use that time to consume content that will help you grow. Taking action is the key to growth and progress, and it is important to remember this as you work to reach your goals. https://www.facebook.com/richard.ziegler.754 www.thedadedge.com/friday95 thedadedge.com/alliance

The Money Guy with Brian Preston

Brian has over two decades of experience in personal financial planning and taxes, and he is passionate about assisting others in optimizing their lives so that they can focus on the things that truly matter to them. His parents were struggling financially, but Brian recalls this time as being one of the happiest times of his childhood. This story serves as a reminder that, while money is important, it should not be the sole focus. Family is more important than money. Having a purposeful life entails appreciating the people in your life, spending time with them, and ensuring that you are enjoying life to the fullest. It entails reflecting on your objectives and dreams and taking action to make them a reality. Larry's story serves as a reminder that life is precious and should be lived to the fullest. We should strive to live a purposeful life, focusing on the things that bring us joy and enrich our lives. We should spend our life in such a way that we leave a legacy for our children and future generations. Life is too short to spend it worrying about money. Instead, focus on living a purposeful life and creating a legacy that will last generations. www.moneyguy.com/resources https://thedadedge.com/fully-present/ www.thedadedge.com/413

The Living Adventurous Method with Andy Way

Andy Way is is an author, speaker, and coach who helps parents and young adults connect with their truth and power so they can live happier, more fulfilling lives. He is the creator of Always Adventure, a powerful training methodology that helps connect people with their true selves so they can live happier, more fulfilling lives. Andy discussed his mission of "the art of living adventurously". He explained how he was a "crust father", unable to save his son from the pain and suffering he was going through. He was feeling helpless, until he stumbled upon a YouTube video of people riding dirt bikes in the backcountry of Colorado. This sparked something in him and led him to dive deep into the world of adventure motorcycling. Andy then identified five powerful practices with five specific outcomes. The fifth and final practice is seeking excitement. The outcome of seeking excitement is to energize your life and bring more joy and happiness. It is important to be intentional about seeking joy and excitement, as it can be easy to get overwhelmed and forget to take time for yourself. By taking time for yourself, you can recharge and be better able to handle the challenges life throws at you. It is also important to remember that seeking joy and excitement is not selfish; it is necessary in order to be the best version of yourself. https://www.linkedin.com/in/andy-way-b65a50167 www.thedadedge.com/friday93
