S1 Ep 1515. From Corporate to Yoga: Farah Ehsan on Pursuing Purpose and Passion (part 1)

In this episode, I’ve had the pleasure to interview Farah Ehsan, or flowbyfarah if you know her by her Instagram handle. Farah Ehsan is a Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, and advocate of functional movement and yoga for real modern life. She believes that each person should find their own yoga for their own body rather than thinking about what a pose should look like. In this episode we discuss how we found the inner strength to leave the corporate world to pursue our passions & purposes. We discuss the obstacles we faced when it came to teaching yoga & doing our teacher trainings. Society has conditioned many of us in so many ways about what success means & what a “real” career should look like. However, Farah found the courage & confidence to follow her heart and her intuition. It’s beautiful to see her share her gifts with everyone that comes along her path & I’m grateful we got to share this story with you all! S1 Ep 1414. Finding Purpose Through Darkness: A Conversation with Natalie Kreidieh (part 2)

In this episode, I’ve had the honor to interview one of my first teachers: Natalie Kreidieh. Nat is the founder of the Beit Nat Yoga Studio in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She is a certified Yoga Instructor with accreditations in Vinyasa, Ashtanga, Yin, Prenatal and Kids yoga. Nat’s dharma (life purpose) is to help people experience the incredible potential of the human body, mind and spirit. This episode touches upon finding our purpose through difficulties, adapting our yoga practice to the different seasons of our bodies, karmic lessons, childhood trauma and so much more. Natalie shares with us how she found her purpose through healing a traumatic childhood experience. Together, we both dive deep into what it means to experience darkness and how the healing arts such as reiki and yoga can help us alleviate suffering and release trauma. Everything in life can be seen as a karmic lesson, including tougher experiences, all leading us towards our spiritual developments and the light. They can all be looked at blessings in disguise when we remember that there is a divine intelligence orchestrating everything. In this episode, I’m so grateful I get to share this beautiful meditation by Tamara Bijjani. You’ll be taken on a journey through reiki drumming to meet your spirit animal. If you’ve never done this before, we really encourage you to keep an open mind and to trust your intuition. We all have our own spirit animal, and it can change from time to time. They can guide you or provide some signs into whatever it is you are going through in your life. Each animal has a special meaning so we recommend checking out what the spirit animal signifies as there are so many messages it wants to share with us. S1 Ep 1212. Returning to the Heart: A Guided Meditation for Reconnection and Love

This episode is all about coming back home to you, to your heart. When I put together this guided meditation, I really wanted it to be heartfelt. With everything that is going on, we can feel disconnected, disrupted, discouraged. We can feel lost, scared, and uncertain. With this episode, I wanted you to reconnect to the different parts of yourself, the different layers but mostly your heart and its beat. When we are in alignment, when we are in the flow, our hearts beat to the universes’ rhythm. When we are disconnected, when we stay in a state of fear, we stop the inflow of love and wellness to enter. I hope that through this guided meditation, you feel more receptive to the love that lives within you & all around you. I hope you enjoy this ride back to you, this magical ride back to the centre of everything, your very own heart. S1 Ep 1111. Food Freedom and Self-Love: Intuitive Eating with Rola Ghaddar (part 2)

This episode is all about bringing compassion and gentleness towards yourself and your eating habits during quarantine & ’m so happy to have Rola Ghaddar as my special guest for this very special topic. Rola is a certified dietician specialized in intuitive eating and a health coach. She encourages us to find food freedom, body positivity and self-love through the content she shares on her instagram page and her programs. In this episode we talk about all things intuitive eating, emotional eating, the differences between physical hunger and emotional hunger and how to set our boundaries when it comes to our own food choices. Eating is one of the first habits we build and growing up we’ve heard many external voices telling us how we should eat, when we should it, why we should eat, where we should eat,… We’ll learn that to eat well, we need to become aware of those voices in our minds to make worthwhile changes. This is a great time for us to dive deep into ourselves and our eating habits and we’re excited to take you on this journey with us. S1 Ep 1010. A Conversation with Dr. Stossier of Vivamayr

With everything that is going on in the world today, I’m really glad I can share this 30 min interview with Dr. Stossier, founder and medical director at Vivamayr. Vivamayr is one of the top leading medical spas for people that are looking to heal in a holistic way. What I love about their approach is that they try to combine ancient wisdom with modern science. Dr. Stossier has a global reputation for his work. His areas of expertise range from irritable bowel syndrome, to heavy metal detoxification, to chronic fatigue, burnout, infertility, parasites, diabetes,… This episode covers Vivamayr’s approach to healthy nutrition, how to improve your eating habits and rekindle a relationship with your food. We also discussed the natural rhythm of life and how we are no longer following it. Instead, we’ve created a pace of our own, one that isn’t sustainable long term if we want to age healthy. Our stressful, hectic, lives have a big impact on our overall health. By slowing down and bringing more awareness to our eating habits and schedule, we can live happier, healthier, and more vibrant lives. S1 Ep 99. Beyond the Stars: The Journey of TamTam, A Saudi Singer and Songwriter (part 2)

In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing with you the story of a beautiful soul, Reem Tamimi also known as Tamtam Sound. Reem and I met in San Diego back in 2010 where we attended university. From the moment I met her, I knew singing was her passion. It shined out through her eyes and face whenever she brought up the subject of becoming a singer and songwriter. Reem is a Saudi singer and songwriter. She grew up in Saudi until the age of 14, before moving to the US for boarding school. At the time when she first started her career, we didn’t hear much of young Saudi women musicians. With good faith and timing, perseverance, and a beautiful unique voice and kind soul, Reem is a true inspiration to many. Not letting her age, her culture, her background get in the way of pursuing a career in music, Reem has gone above and beyond the stars and her story is worth sharing and telling. S1 Ep 88. Beyond the Plate: My Journey to Holistic Health and Healing

In today’s episode, I’ll be sharing with you my health and healing journey. Health in general is an interesting subject because it’s all encompassing. Think of it as a spider web connecting all the different parts of your life. Health is more than just the food on your plate. It’s more than just the number on the scale. It’s more than working out and drinking green juices, and eating clean and never having any sugar or pizza. It’s about connections, relationships, passions. Our health is not just based on our genetic make-up or our environment only. There’s so much that can happen or has happened that can bring about dis-ease in the body. In this conversation, I’ll be sharing snippets of my healing and health journey. It was through some of the hardest and roughest times that my passions for gut health and health in general were sparked. S1 Ep 66. Harnessing the Power of the Full Moon

On today's episode, we're going to be tapping into la luna's secret powers.
I really wanted to record this episode for you today and to share with you a full moon ritual that you can do at home anytime this weekend. The beautiful thing about these rituals is that they allow us to get quiet, to connect to nature, to plant seeds, and to be free from distractions. First, I'll take you through setting up your own sanctuary at home and then we'll then dive into the significance of this month's full moon and pull the lessons and wisdom this moon has to offer us. I'll then lead you through an 8 min guided meditation. Finally, it will be followed by a stream of consciousness journaling exercise so make sure you have your pens and journals ready. I'll do a tarot card reading to pull a message for all of us between the meditation and journaling session.

Links:

mariaamiouni.com sonorouslab.com

S1 Ep 55. Empowerment, Purpose & Healing: Exploring the Divine Feminine with Zulfa (part 2)

On today’s episode we speak with Zulfa. Zulfa is more than just an artist behind the Cosmic Feminist Instagram account. She is a vibrant, eclectic, powerful, wise and funny woman. Although we have not met in person yet, Zulfa feels like a long-lost sister to me. We are the same person in a lot of ways and I’m so grateful that I found her page soon after I created my own podcast channel. In this two-part series, Zulfa and I not only discuss cosmic feminism and empowerment but we discuss what it really means to be in alignment with our higher selves and our inner child. The conversation is a fusion of both of our own personal experiences and stories. In the first part of the conversation, we share personal stories of how we overcome difficult times and changes and what your purpose is and how to fulfill it. As spiritual beings having a human experience, we share how humbling it is when hardships arise in our lives and how we try to keep the faith no matter what. In the second part, we discuss the different tools we can use when it comes to anxiety and depression. We dive deeply into the wisdom of our bodies and how self-care plays a role in building a strong relationship between the material and spiritual worlds. S1 Ep 44. Awakening Through Yoga: My Journey from Darkness to Light

On today’s episode I share with you my yoga journey and lessons. I’ll be taking you back to the time where I first discovered yoga and how this practice sparked my inner light and changed my life forever. The life I lived before yoga and the life I began living after yoga are drastically different in the best of ways. Yoga woke me up from my slumber. I was just living life without questioning anything, without much presence, always living in the past or in the future. I was someone who silently dealt with anxiety and depression for a big chunk of my teenage years and young adult years. Yoga has most importantly taught me to communicate sacredness, it gave me the tools to build it, to build myself from the root to the crown, it’s given me my voice back to share it and today it’s given me the opportunity to spread it to you all. For those of you who are familiar with the Bhagavad Gita, this saying could not be more true: “Yoga is the journey of the Self, to the Self, through the Self.” May you all find the teachers that you are looking for and may you thank your teachers past, present, and those yet to come in the future in whatever shape or form they may take. The most important teacher is yourself. The light in me, the divinity in me, recognises the light and divinity within you. Namaste. Links: mariaamiouni.com sonorouslab.com
