Today on the Brett Allan Show we are chatting with the wonderful actor, director, writer and producer of the new Paramount animated feature, "Mosley", Kirby Atkins. We talk all the things about the film, and how the process can sometimes take years to get off the ground and into the hands of people to enjoy and consume! This is a wonderful animated film and great for the entire family. Atkins who is the writer/director/lead voice in the upcoming Paramount animated feature film Mosley which will be released in Theatres in the US on Dec. 10, 2021. Kirby, who stars in the title role along with his young daughter Leah, playing the character of Rue, also stars Lucy Lawless, John Rhys-Davies, Temuera Morrison and Rhys Darby. The film is the perfect holiday/family film and tells the tale of Mosley, and his family of four-legged Thoriphants who upon Discovering he belongs to a heroic tribe of two-legged giants, Mosley is determined to prove he is more than just a farm animal and jets off on an epic journey to join them in this fun-filled and heartfelt adventure. The film has a unique backstory, filmed in New Zealand as the first New Zealand/China Film Group Co Production, Kirby spent years crafting the story he originated as a child and recorded audio of his then 7-year-old daughter as the character Rue. Rivkah Reyes (they/she, but mostly they) is a queer Filipinx-Jewish actor, musician, comedian, producer and writer from Chicago. They have been performing since the age of 4 when they picked up a guitar for the first time. In the 4th grade, Rivkah performed on the NPR show From the Top, which eventually led to them being discovered and cast in the 2003 film School of Rock. Since their movie debut, Riv has been a prominent force in the comedy and theater scenes of Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York. Our guest today is director and cinemaphotographer Edwin P. Stevens. Edwin joins the Brett Allan Show to discuss his new project, "Alice Is Still Dead" a true crime story based on events that occurred in his real life with his sister. Edwin breaks down why he chose to tell his sisters story, and how it helped with the grieving process and helped him move forward after her death. Born and raised in Kennebunk, Maine, Edwin graduated Colorado College with an English degree. Upon graduation, he started working with his current mentor, acclaimed documentary filmmaker Doug Pray. Through their partnership, Edwin has gone on to work on a variety of high-profile projects as a cinematographer, including HBO’s “The Defiant Ones,” and the 2013 documentary “Levitated Mass” on LACMA’s iconic 340-ton granite boulder. He has worked on a variety of indie features, including “Downeast,” “Film Fest, “Hunting Lands,” ”and “Dark Harbor,” starring Joel McHale. A reboot of the popular 1980’s sitcom of the same name, the 2021 series follows a group of overachieving high school students who meet their greatest challenge: first time teacher, Alicia Gomez (Gomez). Brandon shines as Terrell Hayward, an athletic and bright student who is all about team mentality and the optimist in a class of stressed-out overachievers. He is also the son of Darlene (Givens), from the original series, who is now the co-president of the Parents' Association. Brandon was also recently seen as Liam Carter in the Disney+ series, “Diary of a Future President” which released its second season on August 18, 2021. In 2020, he was seen in Quibi’s award-nominated action series “#FreeRayshawn” opposite Laurence Fishburne. From 2016-18, he starred as Dusty in Disney XD’s hit hidden-camera prank series, “Walk The Prank.” Born in Las Vegas, Brandon started acting at a young age initially booking national television commercials for brands like The Walt Disney Company, Tracfone and Toyota to name a few. He quickly started landing theatrical work with appearances on TBS’ “Men at Work,” ABC’s “The Neighbors” and “The Whispers” and NBC’s popular long running soap opera, “Days of Our Lives.” In his spare time, Brandon enjoys playing several musical instruments including, the drums, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, piano and ukulele as well as singing. The original aired on the USA Network, "THE 4400". Wilder can next be seen in The CW’s highly anticipated sci-fi drama series, “4400,” a reimagining of the 2004 USA Network series. The new version follows 4400 overlooked, undervalued or otherwise marginalized people who vanished without a trace over the last hundred years and are all returned in an instant, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them. As the government races to analyze the potential threat and contain the story, the 4400 themselves must grapple with the fact that they’ve been returned with a few…upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were all brought back for a specific reason. Wilder shines as Agent Jessica Tanner who is a part of the Department of Homeland Security and working on the investigation into the 4400. She is dating Keisha (Ireon Roach), a parole officer who is also called in as part of the government response. Confident, good-hearted and a consummate professional at work, Jessica is glad to be working with Keisha and is baffled and uneasy about the sudden appearance of all these apparently "kidnapped" people. Wilder was also recently seen on the second season of Showtime’s hit drama series “The L Word: Generation Q.” On the film side, they completed production on Kryzz Gautier’s (“Gordita Chronicles”) sci-fi short film, “Keep Delete,” release date TBA. In 2019, they starred in the dramedy short “Treacle” which premiered at the 2019 BFI Flare: London LGBTIQ+ Film Festival and made the festival rounds over the next two years. As a writer, Wilder recently channeled their experience as a descendent of the Iranian diaspora into their first full-length feature script, “neem-rooni,” which was selected as a semi-finalist for the Sundance Institute’s 2021 Creative Producing Lab. Wilder directed a short version of the script in spring 2021 and hopes to shoot the full-length version in 2022. Also on the directing front, they have directed music videos for a variety of artists including pop punk band Potty Mouth, folk duo Fawn, R&B artist Najeary, and their own band Poor Baby. Wilder has been recognized in outlets like Out, Refinery29 and NPR’s All Things Considered for their work in this area. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY in a multicultural family, Wilder discovered their love of acting while being enrolled in a community theater company as a child. They went on to study at and graduate from the prestigious LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts in Manhattan. During their time in the BA program at Emerson College, Wilder was given the opportunity to explore directing and writing, and continued to expand on those skills after graduating and moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting full-time.
