Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam, and I’d like to welcome you into another EyeClarity podcast. Before we get to today’s show, I wanted to let you know that you can now send me your questions via text at 1-844-932-1291. Send me a text. And I’ll be happy to answer your question. You can also send them to Hello at Dr. Sam berne.com. So today’s show is an interesting one. Because I’m giving a session to somebody who is intending to get rid of their myopia and astigmatism. Anybody out there with that condition. It’s an epidemic, I can tell you that more and more people are becoming nearsighted probably because of screen time. But it’s an interesting session, because I touch on some things that you may not have heard of before, causes of myopia and then protocols and strategies on how to begin the road to recovery, being able to reduce your dependency on your glasses and or contacts. And of course, this is in the refractive error of myopia and astigmatism. So I had fun with the session. I think my client also had fun with it. So I hope you enjoy the show. And thanks for tuning in. Okay, so what you looked at some of my content, what what are you what got your interest? Tell me, give me a little backstory? 01:54 Well, I’ve been thinking about my eyes for a while now. It’s stayed stable for quite a long time. But just now recently, they’ve been going, they just had another change. And so I’m a researcher type of person. I’m interested in holistic health. And I just kept thinking surely there’s someone out there that is seeing the eye Health differently than what I’m being pulled at my eye doctor. And so I just started looking. A while ago, I filmed I looked into the possibility of reflexology, I wondered if something like that would help my eyes. And And now just just more recently, I came upon your your website just in my my search for someone who is helping viewed the whole body as connected and and I’m just helping people to have better eye health instead of just being told you were born this way. You were born with a stigmatism. This is this is all we can do for you. And yeah, and what’s really motivating me is because my eyes have gone have changed prescription again recently. And my eye doctor is telling me that it can’t go up on my contacts. And so I’m just seeing 30 I’m just I’m not seeing I’m not seeing like I know I could be seeing. Okay, 03:46 so the, the bottom line is this that the regular eye exam is measuring your eyes in a moment in time, based on what you may choose, you know, based on what you’re shown, and it’s also the prescription is a readout of your visual habits, your visual reactions. And when you get that type of lens, it reinforces the adaptation or compensation. So you have to understand that all an eye doctor is doing in their exam is reinforcing what’s already there. And whenever you reinforce a pattern, it’s going to get worse. In fact, any lens prescription that’s based on reading an eye chart, you’re destined to continue to have stronger lenses. Now in your situation In if we just talked about the myopia in glasses, you’re like a nine and a quarter and a 10. And then because the lens is closer to the eye in contacts, the 750, in the eight that you were in contacts is similar to the nine and a quarter and the 10, in the glasses. And the astigmatism, which is, the eye becomes shaped like an egg is an additional distortion. That’s a, that’s a twisting, so it’s another lockdown in the eye muscles. And so you’ve got a lot of structure built into these prescriptions. And if you do a lot of visual confining experiences, like screens, like we all are, it induces more of the tension and the compression and the twisting. And it’s, it’s the way the method is taught in school, you know, so you really don’t

Welcome, Dr. Hey, 00:49 thanks for having me, Jennifer. It’s great to be here. 00:54 I love it. I love your website, I love that you are healing the eyes and improving people’s vision through a holistic nature. Tell me a little bit about your business. And do you serve people across the country are specific to Santa Fe, New Mexico? 01:14 Well, thanks for having me. You know, this brand of eye care is something that I’ve developed over the last 35 years. And basically, when somebody contacts me, I’m a problem solver. And I help find ways to make things better to improve their eyes and vision. And we do have that neuroplasticity access, if you give the right say dietary advice or do some physical therapy. And there’s so many things that go into helping people improve their vision, because when we get that diagnosis, we feel pretty hopeless. And early in my career, I had some great teachers who were holistically minded. And they shared with me some of the secrets that can help people improve their eyes and vision as we age. So when I got into the digital space in 2016, I have a pretty big international following. So I work with people around the world now, not just Santa Fe, and between my E commerce and my online workshops and other things. It’s truly an international experience working with me. So I’m very excited about the future. And more and more people are coming aboard and they want this. They’re hungry for it. And I’m here to deliver that for them. 02:46 Yes, that is wonderful. And you know, myself, just yesterday, I had to rush over to my eye doctor, because I started seeing some flashes and a big floater. And I was like, oh, what’s going on? So yes, I am very interested to hear that you are helping people globally. Because yes, we all have have concerns about our eyesight, and we want to make sure that we’re living healthy lives. Do you have any success stories of some of the people that you’ve helped through your practice? 03:20 Well, about three months ago, I had a lady who came to see me and she was scheduled for cataract surgery. And she had had a condition called a retinal detachment before that. She also had some floaters. So I put her on a protocol which helped her improve her lens health to the point where I got an email from her a couple days ago and the ophthalmologist said her cataracts were completely gone. And she also reported that her floaters were about 90% gone. And I also gave her protocol on how to improve a retina health. And he said that her retina looked great that there was no chance of retinal detachment. I had another gentleman who suffered chronic dry eye and he was doing the immune suppressant drops. And so doing my protocol for the last six months, he now says he’s dry free. He’s so happy. He’s an IT person. And he just kept using these pharmaceutical drugs that were making his eyes cloudy and red and burning all the time. So I have lots of success stories of over 400,000 people have come through my portal just in the last six years. And with all the social media content and podcasts and blogs that I do, I’m reaching a lot of people to give them a formula instead of just living out your doctor’s diagnosis, which is really, you know, that’s what general eyecare is doing right now. 04:59 That is is such great news good for you. How did you get started? I want to know wha
Light and Color Therapy

I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam and I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. So today I’m going to share a presentation I did recently at the vision sanctuary retreat on light and color therapy, how to do it, what’s the science behind it, and much more. So enjoy the show. When light contacts the body’s energy field, it stimulates something called the pineal gland, which is the master gland of the body and the pineal and trains the pituitary, the thyroid, the thymus, the pancreas, the gonads and the adrenals. to step up, wake up. Light also stimulates the mitochondria. This is the red light therapy, but all the visible colors stimulate the mitochondria. Dr. Abraham, Associate Professor of anesthesiology at the University of Arizona has found that giving patients green light has reduced their migraines and fibromyalgia. So light helps us with physical movement, physiological function seeing and the pupils are the gatekeeper that allow light into our body. Lights interaction with our eyes is a two way street. The better we take in the light, the more we emanate or radiate the light out. And this becomes our creative expression or self expression and our health. Our savings bank account is the energy field. And when we start seeing holes or depressions in the energy field, eventually that’s going to affect our physical health. Here I am at the Esalen Institute, and I’m working with a machine called a gdv camera. This is a Russian camera that measures energy fields and chakras. And here I’m measuring somebody’s photonic energy as part of a research study doing color therapy. So in the gdv camera, you put your fingertip on the camera lens, and a small electrical charge runs across that camera lens and creates a photonic image like that. That’s a fingertip reading and so then what happens is the gdv software program converts the fingertip to a whole body systemic energy field. So we’ve got a man here on the left, he’s got holes in the left side of his energy field, both in both the physical and the emotional here and it’s really gone. He’s got a spike in the in the thyroid throat area. So the gdv camera measures energy fields, chakras, and acupuncture meridians. So in the color therapy study I did I conducted using 20 subjects. These were students of mine, who were taking the month long legacy program, and I treated them with the rainbow color therapy every day, the treatment I used involved that each person had to do the rainbow color therapy twice a day for seven days, and the length of the color therapy session. sessions were as follows each subject looked through each of the colors for two minutes. And the colors I used were red, orange, yellow, green, blue, violet and magenta. They did a morning and an evening session. Initially, I measured each person’s energy field acupuncture, meridians, and chakras. And on day eight, I re measured the subjects. The results of the study showed that over overall people increase their energy field illumination and area and chakra alignment by about 80%. So here’s the subject on the left, before and the subject after. So you can see before all the dissonance, these are trauma patterns. And this is after so you can see it’s a little more coherent. This is a person we did, I’ll show you. Let’s see, this was him before and this was him after so you can see how robust the energy fields are after doing the color therapy, color therapy feeds the energy fields. This was person chakra before so the chakras, we look at the size and then we look at the alignment. And this is after you see how much larger the chakras are and they’re all again, before and after. Before and after. So this is what color therapy can do to your chakras and your energy fields. Now, this 04:49 is the pupil and light enters the pupil This is the iris This is the muscle that controls the pupil and the pupil is is influenced by our nervous
Neuroplasticity and Your Vision
Do the eyes have the capability to access neuroplasticity? Neuroplasticity is the ability of the neural networks in the brain in the nervous system to change through growth and reorganization. I’m giving you about nine minutes of really interesting information on the relationship between neuroplasticity and your vision. Enjoy the show. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. This is a show where I’m going to be talking about neuroplasticity. You know, I recently led a retreat called the vision sanctuary retreat. And I’m giving you about nine minutes of really interesting information on the relationship between neuroplasticity, and your vision. So I hope you enjoy the show. Thanks for tuning in, I want to start with a topic called neuroplasticity. And this is an important subject because in the world of neuroscience, there’s a lot of research on the plasticity in our body, our brain and our vision. Another term for this could be brain plasticity or neural plasticity. And it’s the ability of the neural networks in the brain in the nervous system, to change through growth and reorganization. Another way to say it is that the neuroplasticity, that neuroplasticity is the AI brain’s ability to modify, change and adapt both structure and function throughout life and in response to experience. And if you give the eyes a different kind of food, whether it’s nutrient based or energetically based, you can actually create changes. So neuroplasticity can affect or reflex, the health of our nervous system and fluid body. So the more responsiveness we have, the better our health. If we’re kind of numbed out or we’re not responding, then it reflects some level of stagnating energy. There’s a lot of research on neuroplasticity, you could go on YouTube, or, you know, just look into the literature. One of the PhDs that I’ve followed is a guy named Greg reckoned zone. He’s a PhD, associate dean at Berkeley, UC Davis, sar UC Davis. And he and his team in research found that you can actually change the eyes, the adult brain can change provided, you get certain conditions and those conditions will be what I discuss. So I want to bring in Steven Porges, and the polyvagal theory. This is a very groundbreaking body of research and writings that Dr. Porges is has done over the years. And what he’s discovered is an explanation on how the nervous system develops and evolves. And gives us that neuroplasticity potential. And one of the things that Dr. Porges highlights there are many aspects to the polyvagal theory, but the fight flight freeze response, and the reptilian to mammalian evolution that we as humans go through and one of the keys is developing social engagement, which stimulates this development and one of the keys in social engagement is eye contact. So we start off with a million I’m sorry with a reptilian response, fight flight freeze. And then through the vagus nerve, which connects our head with our body. We start moving more into this empathic capability, but we have to go through certain experiences to be able to make that leap. For many people, they either stay stuck in the survival, reptilian response 04:43 and when they do, it affects their sensory motor system, their nervous system, their biochemistry, their endocrine health. And one of the things that I talk about is called interoception. That means This, how well we’re able to go inside and be aware. And the better, we’re able to have interoception. This allows us to begin to soften the defense strategies that are hardwired in us. And then we can move to a higher cognitive and brain sensory motor level. And we moved more into this empathic or mammalian response, we actually experienced that this morning, when we did the palm hum exercise, you all moved out of some thread of fight flight freeze and into more of a mammalian response. And we’re going to build on that in a little bit. So here’s a picture of me just few years out of school, no gray hair. And I published an article on trauma, trauma from either the brain or the eyes. And early in my career.
Sixth Nerve Palsy What is it and How Can You Treat It?
Sixth Nerve Palsy affects the lateral rectus eye muscle and can affect the person’s ability to track their eyes horizontally. This can cause issues with reading, copying content, and double vision. So today, we will walk through what Sixth Nerve Palsy is and how it might be treated holistically. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. Hey, everybody, its Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. I’m gonna take a question today. But before I do that, I wanted to let you know about a new way to send me your questions. This is through texting, so you can text me your questions, I’ll give you the phone number. It’s 1-844-932-1291. This is valid for the United States and Canada. So listeners there if you want to text me your question, I’ll be happy to answer it. Alright, let’s get to today’s show, we’re going to take a question from a concerned mom. And she’s got a child that’s been diagnosed with something called a sixth nerve palsy. And there is a syrinx placed pressure on this nerve, this cranial nerve. And I’ll define what that is in a moment. And she’s asking, is there anything that can be done from a more holistic integrative approach, the neurosurgeon wants to do a very risky surgery. So in this particular case, when you have a six nerve palsy, it’s affecting the specific eye muscle we call the lateral rectus muscle. So this is affecting a person’s ability to track their eyes horizontally, so like for reading, copying from the board. And when you have a sixth nerve palsy, one of the symptoms is double vision. Another symptom is that there can be a restriction and the eye muscle itself, so that when you’re tracking horizontally from side to side, one of the eyes will have a restriction and won’t be able to track as well as the other eye. Now, syrinx is a type of sack that contains fluid, we usually see it in terms of the cerebral spinal fluid, and how it surrounds and cushions the brain and the spinal cord. But when this capsule starts impinging, so it’s forming and impinging on the sixth nerve, it’s actually sending signals to the lateral rectus muscle of the eye, but it creates this restriction. Now before surgery, there are some things that you could do before you went ahead and did this type of surgery, number one, would be looking for cranial sacral therapy. Now, this is a type of bodywork. I was actually trained in this over 25 years ago, and I found the connection between the bones of the head, the bones that surround the face and into the eye socket. And how that relates to the eyes and vision. So cranial sacral therapy, just as an overview is a type of body work that can help relieve compression in the bones of the head around the eyes. It can also help relieve pressure in the head. And in the sacrum spinal column. It’s a non invasive procedure, you keep your clothes on, you’re lying on the massage table. And the therapists will gently feel the what we call the movement, the cranial rhythm of different parts of your body, you know, sometimes I’ll start at the feet. And I’ll actually be able to feel the cranial rhythm up in the head. Or I might start up in the head area. And I can actually feel the cranial rhythm down into the pelvis, maybe the femur bones and the feet and the many different types of professionals that have been trained to do cranial therapy New psychotherapy. 05:01 I remember when I was in my training, we had physical therapists, occupational therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, osteopaths. So depending on the type of training you’ve had. They’re deaf, definitely different professionals are focusing on different aspects, being an optometrist. And that was clearly unusual because there weren’t many optometrists who were in my class. In fact, I think I was probably the only one, that there’s a very strong connection between the cerebral spinal fluid in the brain, and our eye circulation, the health of the cranial nerves that go into the eyes, and the actual eye muscles themselves. One of the aspects of cranial sacral, that I found to be very helpful is that it improves the oxy

And we are so excited today we have a very special guest who is a dear friend of mine. And his name is Dr. Sam Berne. He’s joining us today all the way from New Mexico. However, he is in Los Angeles at this time. So, Sam, welcome to our show. And please introduce yourself to our viewers. 01:18 Hey, Heidi, thanks for having me on your podcast. So I am Dr. Sam Berne, known as Dr. Sam. And I have a health and wellness brand, holistic eye doctor and social media influencer entrepreneur teacher. And yeah, I’m in Los Angeles this week doing some promotional works and filming. Seeing your brother who I love and seeing you. We’ve just been having a great time. And yeah, I’m really excited to be on the show and interested in what you’re gonna ask me. 01:57 Fantastic, Sam, we are so excited to have you here. And my brother is excited that you’re on the show as well. So you know, we know, Joshua, he’s fantastic. Yeah. So so this show, I know you do a lot of different shows. And you are so out in the public eye right now, which is fantastic. And this one in particular, called so what were you wearing is about how you met the love of your life. And so that’s where we’re going to be going today. And let me start off with just a very preliminary question. But so important for us as the viewers to kind of get a sense of what was going on in your life when, you know, at that time. So even taking us back a few years, take us back as long as you wish. But just give us the context of your life during those circumstances before you tell us how the two of you met. 02:57 Well, it was a pretty turbulent time. I mean, there was a lot of transformation going on. So I had moved to New Mexico, maybe like two years before, and I was actually going to get married to somebody else. And it’s very humbling to say that she called off the wedding. And that was really at the time shocking and painful. I mean, it was it was yes. But you know, you know what, actually what happened was is that I saw it not right then but maybe about a year later. Yeah, I saw that. It was the biggest gift that she gave me because if I had married her, we would have been divorced in like six months. It was just one of those relationships. It was a long distance relationship. And she was in Canada and I was in New Mexico. And anyways, so I was processing that. And I had I was in a men’s group. So I had a group of guys, and we’d meet once a week. And they helped me quite a bit. So anyways, what happened was is that that summer, I went to a dance camp, and Maine, you know, and it was, it was it was a lot, a lot of great fun. And, you know, it was kind of it was getting me out of the grief that I was in and you know, I’m a pretty fun guy. So doing a lot of contact improv and a lot of dance, you know, different kinds of dances, and, you know, meeting on a really cool people. So that I was coming off that and I we came home from New Mexico, the end of the summer, and I had a patient of mine. Her name was Winnie Bauer. And when he said to me, Hey, Sam, you know, I’m having this birthday party. Why don’t you come you know, be really great, you know? So I, I had a friend of mine who we were just very softly dating. And so I said when he would it be okay if I, you know, bring a date and she had like a strange look on her face like, well, I guess that would be okay. And there was a hole, there was a whole agenda going on that I didn’t know, which I found out later. And so I’ll tell you what that was. So w

I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam and I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. So I’ve been off for about two weeks and on vacation, one of the things I like to do is do kind of active vacations. And one of the things that my wife and I have done over the years is whitewater river trips. One of the reasons we like those is because it’s a fabulous way to get into the wilderness, and have all of your gear transported on the rafts. Some trips we’ve done previous to this, we did the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in Idaho actually, we did it twice, and 2014 and 2015. And that was an incredible trip because we went through the Frank Church wilderness, which is one of the most remote wildernesses in the lower 48 states. So on this river retreat, we did, we actually floated down the Colorado River, we put in just below Moab, Utah. And as we got further down the Colorado River, the Colorado meets with the Green River. And they call that the confluence. So then at that point, the Green River and the Colorado River come together. And that’s where the whitewater rapids start. And we go all the way down to our takeout, which is near height, Utah. And it’s deep in the heart of the Canyon Country, in South Central Utah. There are some really great things that I received being on that trip, first of all, the guides are really incredible, you know, it’s very inspiring to see young people in their mid 20s, who are just passionate about the river nature, and showing people you know, what is going on, deep in the wilderness, and the Colorado river goes through the the heart of Canyon lands, which is one of the great national parks. And it’s a vast area, difficult to get into, although you can do it on, you know, some dirt roads and things like that. But Trent, traversing through the middle of Canyon lands, we actually saw some things that, you know, usually you can’t see, the canyon walls get so high as you’re going down the Colorado River. And just the different designs that have been created over the years through whether it’s a geological masterpiece, as you see all the different kinds of rocks. And the the interesting thing I would say, number two that I received from being on this trip is that the Colorado River used to be really high. And due to climate change, and the stress that, you know, water is, is feeling the river is feeling from all the huge population centers like Phoenix and Las Vegas and California that need to draw on that water to know to survive, that the Colorado River has really shrunk. And this, of course, is the conversation that’s around the lake Powell Lake Mead areas that are losing so much water, partly because of evaporation and heat and climate change. But also, because of our use in the West. It’s one of the big controversies going on right now. And the federal government is trying to jump in to say, look, you know, these western states can’t keep using this amount of water because the whole river system is going to dry up. I would say the third thing that I really loved about this trip was the hiking and you know, I’m an avid hiker, you’ve seen me out They’re doing 05:03 my, my daily morning walks and talking to you guys. But on this level, what was amazing is we did two hikes out of the canyon and you, you get to the trailhead where you’re gonna go up the trail, and you look and it’s like, is this straight up, because basically the relief is, I would say it’s 60 to 70 degrees, it’s not 90 degrees, although some places it is. But you’re, you definitely have to traverse the mountain and the canyon in a way to get on top of it. And fortunately, there are trails that have been created, and you do a lot of switchbacks. And even, you know, stair stepping. And both my wife and I did very well, in being able to get up out of the canyon when one of the hikes we did was to the doll house, which are these amazing stone formations. And it really struck me the silence out there

So today’s show is a little controversial. I’m going to be talking about the toxic chemical called glyphosate. And this was inspired by a listener who’s been following me on Instagram. And she asked me why I am talking about glyphosate? Well, you know, I’ve been working with kids for almost three decades, especially in the spectrum disorders. And I was looking this up the other day. In 2011, the Centers of Disease Control, CDC reported that 54% of us children with some form of chronic disorder or disease by the age of 17. They were suffering some type of developmental delay, or they were in the Autistic Spectrum Disorder. That was back in 2011. we fast forward to 2016, the CDC reported one in every 14 Kids in the US were suffering developmental disabilities. So this really caught my attention. As I started to do a lot of work in the area of biochemistry. I found that a lot of these kids had digestive disorders, and dietary absorption issues, inflammation. But it wasn’t just happening in kids. This epidemic epidemic was also showing up and many of my adult patients, you know, they will be suffering these very strange I inflammatory diseases that nobody could figure out. There was more and more people coming in with conditions like glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, or just an accelerated deterioration, deterioration in their eyesight and vision. And the conventional eye doctors, you know, just use their symptomatic approach. But it near never really got the answers to them. And then when I started to expand my own lens, and I looked at the broad array of conditions that adults suffer, things like anxiety, depression, celiac disease, gluten sensitivities, multiple sclerosis, even Parkinson’s disease, and I had a close friend of mine, who’s a veterinarian, and he died of Lou Gehrig’s disease, ALS. And I have to thought about that, because he always worked very deeply in agriculture. How much did this toxic exposure of glyphosate affect him? And we’re dealing with environmental factors, not just here, but around the world conditions, genetic issues, neurological issues, autoimmune metabolic issues, and there just seems to be this 04:57 collapse. In our health, with all these weird conditions. I read a stat the other day, it’s estimated that we spray more than 4.5 billion pounds of glyphosate. And that’s the active ingredient in Roundup. You know, my dad used to own a hardware business as a family owned business. And he used to put all that stuff, the fertilizers and pesticides. And I asked him, you know, as an adult, he said, Sure, yeah, we use glyphosate or Roundup all the time. And of course, he was around, he moved to Hilton Head, South Carolina. And he lived right on the golf course. And he ended up dying of lymphoma. And also, I often wondered, you know that, that constant exposure on golf courses, because that’s again, where they use a lot of the Roundup, how much that affects us. Because this round up, it is absorbed in the soil, it’s absorbed in the water systems, and the plants. And combining that with the genetically modified plants, and species. This is where again, we start eating GMO foods were exposed to these fertilizers and pesticides. It definitely creates an inner environment of inflammatory disease. And this roundup ready. These were crops that were introduced, believe in the night in the 1990

I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey, everybody, Dr. Sam here, another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I want to talk about what is the mindset that you need to really improve your vision. I’m broadcasting here from Santa Fe National Forest, taking a break from my long hike today. And I want to talk about mindset. So I’ll preface this by sharing a story. About a year ago, there was a man who contacted me. And he had a high amount of myopia, like minus seven in each eye. And he wanted to know how he could improve his vision. So right off the bat, he said he couldn’t really afford my fee. And so I said, Okay, you know, what can you pay? And I gave him an hour of my time. And about a month later, he emailed me and said, Okay, I want to get a reduced prescription. Can you make that up for me? And so I gave him the price. And he said, You know, I can’t afford that. So I gave him a really deep discount. He also wanted the blue blocker on it. So I made it up for him. And he got the prescription. And he sent me an email saying that he’s really disappointed because I didn’t put the blue blocker on the lenses, he can’t see out of the lenses. And he’s really upset at me. So I went, Okay, well, let me call my lab. And sure enough, we did put the blue protect on the lenses. And like I do with my community, I asked them to take a look at all my videos, because I did a video on the difference between a blue blocking filter, which is what I use, and a blue blocking tint. So I wrote him and said, You know, I use a blue blocking filter, I put it on the back of the lens, it has UV protection, it also cuts out most of the glare. But it doesn’t create an imbalance of color that comes into the eyes, like a tint. So to note, when you get an orange or yellow, tinted blue blocker, what this actually does, is when you look through it, it makes things too dark to see it dilates the pupil, so the damaging light that you don’t want to come into your eyes is going to come in, because it dilates the pupil, the bigger the pupil, the more the light is going to get in, so you don’t want that. And that creates an imbalance of color coming into the eyes and treating people with light and color for over three decades. You don’t want to be looking through a tinted lens, that’s going to create an imbalance of color into your eyes and into your body. All right, I explained that to him. And I said, you know, I could remake the lenses, we could use a different material. But honestly, I don’t think it’s going to make a difference. And you got to put some skin in the game here. And this is the mindset. The mindset is, if you want to work with me, and you want to reduce your myopia, the only way you’re going to really be able to do that is by doing the physical eye therapy exercises, you got to do the work, you got to spend 20 to 30 minutes every day, interacting with my process, so that you learn about your habits, your belief systems, your conditioning that created the prescription in your eyes to begin with. And furthermore, if you think that just getting a reduced prescription is the way to improve your vision, you are going to fail. And uh, you’re sorely mistaken in how you go about this. And I explained this at the session. Well, the guy took it in, you know, and I also said, You need to make a financial commitment here. 04:35 I definitely gave you a break, but you got to quit complaining. And you got to get with the program. Because if you do not commit body and mind and spirit, you’re right. You’re going to be miserable. You’re going to be negative, you’re going to be complaining, but it’s not my fault. I’m just here to show you the way you got to sign up. You got to show go up, and you got to do the work. So he digested that, and I said, this prescription that I made up for you, is reduced. And as I said to you during the session, and as I say, a million times on my content, that you start wearing a reduced prescription, in non demanding, and non threatening situations, so that if you start feeling frustrated in the blu

I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey, everybody, it’s Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. I’m here in the Santa Fe National Forest. And I’m on a hike today, I thought I’d bring you along. So today’s show, I’m going to take a question from a listener who’s been following me and she’s an entrepreneur. She’s a health practitioner, she has started her own e-commerce. She’s written a book. And she wants to know what my strategies have been in building my brand. So this is a little different question. But it is inspired, because I know many of you don’t know this, but I am working for an organization now, all-volunteer, and the organization is called score. And this is a really fantastic group of retired business, people who help local businesses launch and get off the ground. And I actually was a client of theirs for about three years. And they were helping me with certain aspects of my brand and business. But one of the things they noticed was that I had a certain mastery in the area of brand building, especially in using social media. And so this colleague of mine who asked this question, I thought I would put it out on my podcast. So, you know, it’s very interesting in the climate today, and it was really even amplified with COVID. And we couldn’t meet in person. But I reflect back into 2016, when I decided I needed to expand my services. And I started to look into different social media platforms. And the one that I chose was Facebook. And I began posting on Facebook. And, you know, I was working with different professionals to help me develop my brand, and, and my ecommerce store, and so on. And it was so funny, because when I first started, I did a Facebook live show. Nobody would come on, I had zero followers and zero people watching. So what I had to do is I had to take some questions that my patients would ask me, and I’d write them down. And I would answer them during the, the Facebook Live program. So it was pretty funny, but over time, and this was very slow, I started to get a few people watching Facebook Live, and I started to do Instagram Live. And I just began posting every day. And I would do four to five posts, some would be video, some would be pictures. And I observed over a period of about six months, that I was starting to get a little traction. And what I mean by traction is that I was starting to get some people who were interested in what I was saying. So we fast forward about five years later. And of course, things are going very well for me. And the organization score has employed me to talk to some of their clients on the value of social media, and how it can boost your business. Now there are those out there who would say oh, I want nothing to do with social media, their political issues, and they’re, you know, all kinds of things going on. And I would agree with that. However, the way I see it is that I use social media to help educate people create more value in their life. And I’m not really interested in any of the 04:27 you know, the political things or the things that were there are some problems with social media and there are, but you have the choice to turn it on or turn it off. And so you have to take responsibility, if you want to do that if you want to play the game. But I can tell you and this is some of the advice I gave to my colleague, is that it’s very good to engage with your community. Answer their questions, give them value. Be willing to spend some time creating content that will help them. I noticed that some people who go on social media, it’s all about them. And it gets to be a little narcissistic, well, that’s really not going to fly. At least at the beginning, you want to be able to, to give people value, you want to be able to give people information, and you don’t want to charge them for it. That’s another thing, where when you’re trying to build a brand, you want to be able to be the expert. And so give your advice for free. When I started

I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to welcome our next guest and lecture. Her name is Megan Ramos. She is a Canadian clinical educator and expert in the field of therapy, therapeutic fasting, and low carbohydrate diets. She has guided more than 14,000 people worldwide. She’s co author of The New York Times bestseller life in the fasting lane. Megan, welcome to the summit. I’m so excited to have you on. I guess my first question would be, how did you get involved with intermittent fasting? 00:45 It’s kind of an epic collision of sorts between my own personal journey and my professional journey. From a very young age, I was interested in preventative medicine, my mother is just one weird medical anomaly that we think a lot of her health issues were triggered by mold exposure. And that mold exposure led to tumor growth. And there was just a lot of suffering because she was such a young woman at the time, and nobody expected her to have all of the issues that she was. And they were just treating her symptoms without ever looking for the root cause. So from the time I was in elementary school, I wanted to be that medical mystery solver and really identify root causes of disease. So I from a young age, I got interested in medical research. When I was 15, I had the opportunity to work actually in the largest medical research facility clinical research facility, which actually based in Toronto, at the time, and it was a nephrology, so this group of kidney specialists were trying to detect kidney disease earlier. And they were working on all of these different types of lifestyle interventions to slow down the progression of kidney disease. So at 15, this is a total dream for me, and very much so was because I really valued their mission. And I stuck around high school, university after university became my full time job. Well, it took some time off before the plan was to go to medical school. But none of the interventions were working. And it didn’t really matter how early one detected kidney disease, because there was just this huge onslaught of type two diabetes does ravaging people’s kidneys. I mean, we went from having a handful of people on dialysis to having 1000s of people on dialysis 24/7. And from the time I was 15, to the time I was 25. And all of that was due to type two diabetes. So I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go back, go to medical school, because it just seemed like all mainstream medicine could do was hopefully, you know, make people comfortable as disease ravaged them. And it was really heartbreaking. So in my mid 20s, when I was trying to figure out, you know what I was going to do with my life, I continued to do research at the clinic, but I thought, lady, you’ve got to get it together yourself. You know, I had stayed relatively slender, but was diagnosed with these metabolic health issues like fatty liver disease. When I was a kid, I had polycystic ovarian syndrome when I was 14. And they hadn’t gotten worse, but they hadn’t gotten better. They hadn’t gotten away, like most of the doctors thought they would. Because I was so skinny, they didn’t understand why I had these diseases of obesity. And hindsight, I was just a skinny sack of fat. I was not very muscular and very brittle and break my wrist every time I slipped on the soccer field at school. 03:55 So looking at my family history and my own history, I decided that I needed to do this big intervention on myself. So I started doing all the things we’re doing with patients. Not really thinking about how it didn’t work for any of them. So why it had it worked for me. And you know, within 18 months, I was a full blown type two diabetic who gains excessive amount of weight. So I went from being sort of skinny on the outside and fat on the inside to just being fat all around. And it was was awful. Then being diagnosed with type two diabetes was so deva
Helping Someone Diagnosed with Glaucoma
So today, you’re getting a sneak preview of a session I gave recently to a patient who was recently diagnosed with Glaucoma. Glaucoma is a disease that affects the circulation in the eye, specifically the optic nerve. We will go into what Glaucoma is and steps you can take to mitigate it. Enjoy the show. SUMMARY KEYWORDS optic nerve, glaucoma, eye, retina, nitric oxide, studies, form, vitamin, omega, circulation, cataracts, antioxidants, health, good, vitamin e, glutathione, capsule, book, important Hello, everyone. It’s Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to my EyeClarity podcast. This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. So today, you’re gonna get a sneak preview of a session I gave recently. This is somebody who traveled from out of town to come and see me, and she’s been diagnosed with glaucoma. Glaucoma is a disease that affects the circulation in the eye, specifically the optic nerve. And there are many different kinds of glaucoma. This person has what we call low-tension glaucoma. So what that means is, the pressures are a little below normal eye pressures, but she’s still having some optic nerve damage. And the doctors really can’t figure out why they’ve put her on some glaucoma medications. And she’s traveled from Texas to come and see me. And so I’ve given her so I’m going to be giving her some advice. We’ll start off the first part with what can a person do to reclaim their eye health if they’ve been diagnosed with glaucoma. So, here’s the first excerpt. So in this particular part of the exam, I wanted to talk to you a little bit about glaucoma. And you have what we call low-tension glaucoma. So, the most common type of glaucoma is called open-angle glaucoma. And that’s where the eye pressure goes up. In your situation, your eye pressures are lower than say what happens in open-angle glaucoma. And the bottom line is, is that it’s still in some ways affecting the circulation in the retina. So just to give you some statistics, the retina has one of the highest metabolic needs in the body, because of all the tiny blood vessels that are in the retina. And then the macula, which is 1% of the retina has the highest metabolic need. So the retina has a high metabolic need. And the macula has an even higher metabolic need. Now, the thing that the retina needs is antioxidants. That’s kind of the name of the game. And the optic nerve, which is the part of the eye that is affected by circulation, which is what Glaucoma is. So in glaucoma, either you’re not producing enough fluid, or the fluid you are producing is impeded in being able to circulate through the eye. And there’s a meshwork where the fluid runs through different parts of the eyeball, soothing it, bathing it, and doing kinds of things. There have actually been some research studies that say Glaucoma is the Alzheimer’s of the eye. And there have been other studies that show Alzheimer’s in the brain is like glaucoma in the brain. So it has to do with circulation, and some very targeted nutrients that have been shown to help the optic nerve health. And that’s what I want to share with you. Because the name of the game and glaucoma is how well you can take care of your optic nerve. So in all the studies and all the literature and all the clinical practice, I’m going to give you the best ones to take. And we’re going to negotiate it because you might say, Well, I’m already getting that or no I don’t need that or we’ll we’ll see. So number one on my list is omega three. 04:21 And omega three fatty acids are really important for I brain health. And there’s a certain component in the Omega three, you don’t have to remember this, but it’s D ha and the Omega three, DHA and EPA those are kind of the components and all the studies say the DHA is the even more important in terms of optic nerve health. So what is a good source because you have to look at there’s a lot of company He’s out there. But which ones do the testing because we now know that some fish oils are contaminated with heavy metals and things like that. So there’s a company that I use called metagenics, me ta, G and ICS. And you’re looking to find omega Genex 1000. So that’s what it’s called. And you can either take it in a capsule, or you can take it in a liquid. Now it has a lemon flavor, so it’s not going to be real fishy. I used to take Omega three, okay. regurgitation. Okay, so
The Key Ingredient to Visual Health
If you suffer from dry eye syndrome, part of the reason could be either you’re not getting enough healthy fats in your diet, or you’re not absorbing the fats in your diet. So in today’s show, I want to talk specifically about Docosahexaenoic acid, better known as DHA. And it’s a very important component that’s found in omega threes. Enjoy the show. Hey, everyone, its Dr. Sam, and I’d like to welcome you in today. Thanks for being part of the show. So I want to announce my upcoming retreat workshop seminar. This is going to be happening October 7, through the 9th. It’s a weekend workshop immersion. I like to call it the vision sanctuary retreat. You know, I used to lead a lot of retreats at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California when I was a faculty member there. And even before that, I used to do retreats in Hawaii, and New Mexico, New York. And I find that is a really great venue because you get to be with a community of people who are like minded. And they’re usually pretty focused pretty serious. In Well, let’s say creating change within themselves. So even though this is an online workshop, we still come together in a forcefield. Where, because we are together, and although it’s virtual, I’ve done this enough to know that once I start opening the door, and we kind of crack it open, and we start doing some of the processes and practices that I have developed, that people can make major changes, you can see some of my testimonials, people really shifts in the three days. And you know, we have to develop enough momentum to get enough speed to be able to break through and make the changes we need to make. And, of course, we’re not just talking about your eyes and vision. But in this particular retreat, the focus is on mind brain body health. Of course, we’re going to use the eyes as one of the main portals to do that. So we’ll be exploring some physical therapy, things we’ll be learning about, what nutritional protocols should you be doing. We’re going to look at color therapy and experience color, light and sound, vibrational healing, and even aromatherapy I’m going to give you a crash course, aromatherapy one on one a one on how to use essential oils to boost your eye health and overall wellness. So if you want to sign up, you can do so by going to my website, drsambere.com. You can also send us an email [email protected]. The retreat will be recorded for participants and you’ll be able to listen to the retreat for 60 days after the last day, October 9 60 days, so you get two months. And also you get 10% discount on all my supplements and great products. So sign up now, we look forward to having you on the retreat. So today’s show, I want to talk about the importance of healthy fats. You know, our brain is almost 60% fat, you know that our neurons and axons and all the all the things the structures in the brain need fat in order to live well. And I would include our eyes in that discussion. 50% of the retina is made up of fatty acids. 04:10 If you suffer dry eye syndrome, part of the reason could be either you’re not getting enough healthy fats in your diet or you’re not absorbing the fats in your diet. So in today’s show, I want to talk specifically about Docosahexaenoic acid, this is better known as d H A. And it’s a very important component that’s found in omega threes. It’s a poly unsaturated fatty acid. DHA DHA is concentrated in the gray matter. In our brain. It’s important for the health of the neurons, actually the membranes of the neurons DHA plays a role in the following things the structure of our mitochondria. I’ve talked about it and other shows that just for the eyes, the eyes have one of the highest concentrations of mitochondria. These are very important energy centers that produce ATP, that help us get rid of metabolic waste and absorb better nutrients. So DHA is important for our mitochondria health, the release of neurotransmitters, the expression of DNA, the creation of myelin. Myelin is the insulator that is around the neurons. And DHA is also super important for reducing inflammation. You know, inflammation is one of the biggest issues that we ha
All About the Cheiroscope
So you’re in for a treat today. I’m teaching a one-hour workshop to a group of health vision practitioners. I’m talking about the Cheiroscope. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Good morning, everybody. It’s Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClairty podcast. So you’re in for a treat. Today, I’m actually teaching a one hour workshop to a group of health vision practitioners. And I’m talking about the Cheiroscope. I’m going to be talking today about the Cheiroscope. And this is an instrument that measures by an ocular vision, and the projection of the visual pattern of focusing. So enjoy the show. Hey, good afternoon, everybody. And it’s great to be back with you. And so excited to be sharing this information. So my topics today are going to be the Cheiroscopetracing the corresponding Congress scopic machine, we’ll get into things like the van orden stars. And maybe if we have time, we’ll do some vision therapy techniques, and also maybe talk about peripheral vision. So the instrument the Cheiroscopetracing is this from a what we call Cheiroscope. And the Cheiroscope is an instrument that measures a couple of things, it measures how well your two eyes work together. And we call that by an ocular vision. And the second thing that the Cheiroscopetracings in the Cheiroscopetell us is whether or not a person is suppressing or shutting down one of their eyes. A day doesn’t go by in my own office, where I’m testing somebody using the Cheiroscope. And their visual acuity is 2020 a distance in near. But when we put them on the Cheiroscope, and we show them, you know, some of the pictures like the dog and the pig or the balloons. In other words, those particular cards require that a person is using both of their eyes together simultaneously. And every day in my office, I will get, I would say a very high percentage of people who when they touch one of the objects as they look into the scope, that that that image disappears. And one of the ways I like to present the experience is I’ll put the slide in the Cheiroscope. And I asked an open ended question Socratic guidance. What do you see? And in that open ended question, it tells me a lot about, you know the way a person answers, like yesterday, and I had two girls, twins who actually you referred to me. And they’re sick. They’re six years old. They went to traditional eye doctor who said that their eyes are healthy, and they see 2020. But Mom was curious about their visual tracking problem. When I put them in the Cheiroscope, and I had them look at the dog and the pig. The way they both answered, it was very interesting. They both said, 03:31 I see a dog. And that was it. I see a dog. And then I would have to prompt them again. Well, what else do you see? Oh, over here on the left side, I actually see a pig. But the pig seems to be blinking on and off. So what that is saying right there is because the right eye sees the dog in the left eye sees the pig that there is a lot of bind ocular instability in their, their two eyes vision, their depth perception and so on. And they had no idea. And mom had no idea that the left eye was cutting out now that’s the brain shutting off the eye. And the reason why we do that. It’s an adaptive response because we want to avoid seeing double. So immediately I asked her, Oh, when you read Do you ever see double? And she said yeah, all the time. And of course mom, you know was floored by this because she had never realized that her daughter was seeing double. And so sometimes when I present the cards if it’s a high level, person, adult or child, I’ll actually ask them, you know, what do you see? And so that answer tells me they’re separating their vision, I only see the dog, I’m preferring my right eye. And you have to kind of wake up their awareness to say, Oh, I actually see something on the left side. But sometimes what I’ll do, and you could do this too, in a high functioning person, is you could say to them, okay, what do you see in the picture? And they’ll they’ll tell you, and then you could say, close your ri
Celebrating Your Vital Vision Part 1
Here is an excerpt from a class I help earlier this year. We covered everything from how to negotiate an eyeglass or contact lens prescription and Color Therapy to the visual-vestibular connections. I led the class in The Berne Method®, helping to improve your vision and health. This unique blend of holistic vision practices was experiential, and we had some great discussions. So we’re going to start off with a poll. So you get to vote if you want to. And this has to do with your last eye exam. Now, if it was with me, doesn’t count. But, you know, for most people, but I hear such incredible stories about when they had their last vision exam. So I’m going to launch this poll, this poll right now. And it’s a multiple choice. And the question is, how do you how did you feel about your last eye exam? And you’ve got three answers, didn’t like it neutral, elated. But we want to, we want to publish this in the Journal of American ophthalmology. jamma let them know what kind of job they’re doing. And so if you want to vote, here’s your chance. You know, if you got some emotions behind it, then this is a time for you to feel those and your passion and well, both the exams or the result, you know, either way, you know, for some, it’s the result or what the what the doctor said to you. For others, it’s the actual exam. So still voting, almost. And I will, I will share the results with you in a second. So this is kind of the fun part where you get to participate. And so we’re getting a lot of a lot of participation. Wonderful. Thank you for your your vote. You’ve earned it just by taking this class. All right, I’ll give you about another 20 seconds. And then I’m going to end the poll. And we’ll look at the results together. Maybe that’s it. Okay, so I’m going to end the poll. And I’m going to share the results with you. How did you feel about your last eye exam? Well, 42% were neutral and 58% did not like it. And zero out of the poll. were elated. So I’m going to pass that on to the eye doctors. And, you know, if if I ran my business that way, where I didn’t even get any positive results. I don’t know if I could stay in business. But the eye care field is kind of a cartel. And it’s kind of a monopoly. And part of the deal is that, you know, that’s the way we’re educated. And, you know, I’m part of that as well. All right, now we’re gonna go to the second question to question poll. And I’m gonna launch the poll if you want to answer what is your wellness philosophy? I’m curious to know, you know, what, what you do in your life, you know, do you eat organic? Do you take supplements? Do you do a spiritual practice and you know, spiritual practice could be things like gardening or, you know, relating to your children or your grandchildren. We don’t have to do some fancy spiritual practice. So let’s see how evolved this group is usually the people that I work with, have had some level of experience in the field of integrative medicine. I know some of you have taken another some health summits and other online workshops with you know, functional medicine doctors and 04:51 holistic doctors. So, okay, maybe just another Are 30 seconds or so? This is great. All right, so I’m gonna end the poll, and I’m going to share the results with you. What is your wellness philosophy? Look at that 4% answered organic 11% answered supplements 4% yoga 0% None. So and look at this 81% have experienced some level of holistic health. So that is like totally awesome. So you are so lined up with what I’m going to offer you today that we are going to take you to the next level, no matter where you are. So I appreciate the response. So one time I was giving a lecture to a group of about 200 ai doctors. And I asked them, I did a poll with them. And I asked them, How many of you take vitamins? And I would say, 95% of the room, Anthony answered, yeah, I take vitamins. And then I said, How many in here either take supplements, or make nutritional recommendations to your patients. And nobody raised their hand. And I started to point out that there is a big disconnect in e
Retinal Hole
A Retinal Hole is a very serious sight-threatening condition. The retina is a very vulnerable tissue in the back of the eye. Because of its vulnerability and integrity, there are many reasons why we need to take really good care of our retinas. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everyone, its Dr. Sam and I’d like to welcome you to my EyeClarity podcast today, I’m taking a hike up in the Carson National Forest, just outside of Taos, New Mexico. So I received a question from a listener who’s got a very serious condition called a retinal hole. And she wants to know what my advice is? Well, first of all, this is a very serious sight-threatening condition. You know, the retina is a very vulnerable tissue in the back of the eye. And it’s made up of over 130 million photoreceptors. And because of its vulnerable, integrity, there are many reasons why we need to take really good care of our retinas. Some of the causes of retinal holes could be moderate to high amount of nearsightedness, or astigmatism. The result of eye surgeries, eye trauma and metabolic imbalances, and this is what I want to focus on here. Because, you know, when we go to the doctor and we get a diagnosis, most likely the condition has been happening for a while. It’s just now you know about it. And so it’s a signal to say, Okay, where am I not imbalance. And with a retinal hole, the retina first of all needs a lot of fatty acids, omega three fatty acids. In fact, the part of the Omega three that we need the most is the d h, a part of the Omega three, we do not make omega three, we need to get it from outside sources. So that is one of the proactive things that you could do. Another thing that you could do would be to make sure you’re getting enough of the retinol carotenoids, you’ve heard me talk about these lutein, zeaxanthin and acids Anthon. Some really good food sources for lutein and zeaxanthin would be the red, orange, yellow green vegetables. For Astra Xanthine. That’s a marine carotenoid, you could always do a micro algae supplement. Or if you can get some wild caught salmon. That would be another way to get your ass to Xanten. Vitamin A is also really important. And one of the issues I see is that people do get vitamin A, but they’re not absorbing the vitamin A, it’s a fat soluble vitamin. And so you may need to check in with your gallbladder and liver health. And remember, the liver produces bile, and the gallbladder stores it and one of the things that you need in order to be able to absorb vitamin A is bio. And this would go hand in hand with also lutein and zeaxanthin, which are also fat soluble phytochemicals. So you could check this out with a blood panel with a doctor a functional medicine doctor, or you could go to a Chinese medicine doctor and they could read your pulses, and tell you that way. Some other aspects about retinal holes is a lot of it depends on the location and the depth of the hole. Of course, if it’s not in your line of vision, if it’s off in the periphery, you may be able to bide some time, this is a call that you’re gonna have to make with your doctor to see whether or not you want to repair the hole. Or you want to try some of these alternative therapies that are going to take a while. So you have to really weigh those things, if you’re going to go ahead and get the surgery. Now there are a couple of different surgical procedures. One is using a laser and the other is using a freeze type of therapy where you’re freezing the the area around the hole. And any surgical procedure is really about trying to contain the damage in a small area. And you may need to do that. And then you could start using some of these other things that I’m recommending. Now what can happen when you get this kind of surgical procedure is scar tissue. 04:57 And I’ve talked about in other video blogs about a proteolytic enzyme called serrapeptase. And this sometimes can be used as a digestive aid, and it helps dissolve scar tissue in the body including the eyes. Another supplement you could look into would be natto kinase. So those two things could be used after you’ve had the surgery, if there is some sca
Macular Bleeding
There are no blood vessels that grow or come near the macula. But in the case of macular bleeding, if the macula is starting to starve from not getting the nutrients it needs, then it starts creating its blood vessels. This is a very serious situation that should be looked at by a doctor. Today we are converting what causes Macular Bleeding and how to prevent it. Enjoy the show. Hey, everybody, it’s Dr. Sam, and I want to welcome you to my EyeClarity podcast. So as you can tell him on my morning walk today, I want to take a question from a listener. I’m hiking in the Carson national forest, near Taos ski Valley. And one of the things that we talk about as skiers in the winter is Taos is the four-letter word for steep. So when you get to the ski area, all you see are these huge mountains. And you go, Oh, my goodness, I can never ski this. But once you get over the lift, there are a lot of really gentle, moderate runs. And it’s a great place to be any time of the year. So let’s get to the question. This is a listener who has a condition called macular bleed. So her macula is bleeding. So just to remind you, the macula is the center part of the retina. It has the highest concentration of cones, it’s where we see detail and color vision. And it’s very vulnerable because there are no blood vessels that grow or come near the macula. But in this particular case, if the macula is starting to starve from getting the nutrients it needs, then it starts creating its blood vessels. We call this process angiogenesis. And it’s a condition that’s related to things like diabetic retinopathy and wet macular degeneration; it is a very serious condition; you need to go to your eye doctor and get treated immediately. Now, for the treatments, you may need to get some laser surgery if the bleeding is really out of control. This is something you’re going to have to discuss with your eye doctor. Whenever I work with this kind of condition, I look at it both on a macro level, meaning systemic and metabolically and a micro level, which is on the eyeball itself. So let me give you a statistic, the eyes in the brain make a 2% of the body weight and use 25% of the food intake. So one-quarter of what we eat is needed by our eyes to stay healthy. Our eyes have one of the highest concentrations of microcapillary blood vessels. These are involved in oxygenating the eye and also getting rid of metabolic waste. Another thing to note about the retina is that it comprises about 50% of fatty acids. This is why functional medicine doctors talk about the value of omega three, especially the DHA part of omega three for retina health, brain health, and so on. Another thing to note about the retina is that it has a very high concentration of mitochondria. So I want you to remember that. So I’m going to come back to mitochondria in a minute. We know that mitochondria helps in the production of ATP. ATP is an energy that, again, helps get rid of oxidative stress free radicals and it helps reduce inflammation. So I think the first place to start with this condition after you’ve gotten a diagnosis from your eye doctor and you may or may not get treatment is to go to a functional medicine doctor and start to look at your glucose levels, how much carbohydrates you’re eating, what’s your dietary absorption, like? Do you have any toxicities like mold, or heavy metal toxicities. 04:00 All of these factors can affect the integrity of the retina and the macula. Remember, in a macular bleed, we call this angiogenesis. Your macula is so starved for its nutrients that it’s producing these fragile blood vessels as a way to get nutrients to the macula. But what’s happening is because the blood vessels are fragile. This creates hemorrhaging, bleeding, fluid behind the eyes behind the macula. And this is where you’ve got to start looking at this systemically and metabolically. Also, if you’re living with inflammation in your body, this is another risk factor. And another condition that you have to take a look at is how well you are absorbed. Being your fat salt soluble nutrients, like vitamin A, lutein, zeaxanthin and so on. So I would definitely check out the glucose levels. Make su

So let’s talk about your conventional training. 02:29 Okay, well, great. Thanks for being here, everybody. And I hope I can offer some value to you today. So my career started very early on, and I was eight years old and I had a learning disability. And my mom took me everywhere, couldn’t help me, ended up at an eye doctors office and he gave me a pair of nearsighted glasses. And my eyes just got progressively worse. Until, you know, I I enrolled in optometry school, I had studied a lot of chemistry undergraduate, I was a chemist, and also did a lot of classes in humanities because I was bad. I wanted to be balanced if I was going to go become a doctor to know some things in liberal arts and foreign languages. Anyways, I went to the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. And at that time, it was probably number one or number two as the most medically oriented, optometry school very allopathic ly focused. But I had the good fortune to get to do some internships in that program. And one of them I chose was going to a holistic optometrist in San Diego and I worked in his clinic. His name was Bob Santa, Dr. Bob sanit. And it was a practice where we devoted to help kids and adults with vision problems using a process called vision therapy. And it was inspiring to work with Dr. sanit. And

I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam and I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. Well, today’s show is about a 10 year old child who’s been diagnosed with a condition called strabismus. So this is for all you parents out there who are frustrated when you go to the regular eye doctor. And he or she either recommends surgery on the eye muscle and or really strong glasses. The third option would be wearing a patch constantly over the so called good eye. And in all of those scenarios, you’re taking the child further away from improving the visual coordination. I want to give a shout out right now to my mentors and teachers. Especially the doctors who trained me at the Gizelle Institute, where we immersed ourselves in child development and learning how to evaluate and treat a child from a developmental perspective, from a holistic perspective, from a mind body perspective. And unfortunately, this particular method has been lost. In today’s I care. In fact, today’s I care is so mechanical, so I centric, that the doctors are failing to evaluate a child based on the child’s sensory motor development skills as it relates comparing their performance age to their chronological age. And they’re also just using a robotic mechanistic way of treating. So I have brought you in to some excerpts of a session I recently gave a family they live in Australia. And this young girl was diagnosed at about 14 months with a left eye crossing. At age three, she was given really strong farsighted glasses. And now the doctors have put her in to even a stronger prescription. She’s now in a split lens, we call that a bifocal. And her mom discovered me through my social media through my content. And it’s been a breath of fresh air. Now, the first part of this session I talked about something called the primitive reflexes, many of you probably have never heard of it. Except maybe certain moms have heard of this because we know the most famous infant reflexes called the Moro reflex, the startle reflex. But the primitive reflexes are controlled in the nervous system by our brainstem. That’s the reptilian brain, the survival brain and these reflex movement patterns start developing in utero. And they should start to get extinguished when we’re born through age to age three. And many times when these reflexes are not extinguished, then the brainstem is overriding the higher centers of the brain, and it stops or impedes visual development. 04:29 Now I want to talk about my mentors. Lina and thourgh killed Rasmus in their optometrists who practice in Scandinavia. And then this podcast a little later on. I refer to them because they did a lot of study research on the relationship between the unintegrated primitive reflex movements and school aged children and how it affects their visual development. And I learned this work Through them, and through my mentor, Dr. Al Sutton, who brought them to the US. And we studied very intensely with them. And we started to bring this aspect of vision therapy into our program with kids, especially with strabismus and amblyopia. So I’m referred to the primitive reflexes as part of what we can do to help this child reduce the cross die. I also referred to the strong glasses and what we’re going to do about that, so I’ll be going in and out of the session and explaining different things. 05:48 So let’s go to the first part of the session and see what’s going on. The Moro reflex, the, the Moro reflex is these six, flexes the startle reflex and the one the one that that I do is called the starfish exercise. 06:19 Just a pause here. So the starfish exercise is done on the ground. And the inner ear, the vestibular system, the development of that is very tied into the visual coordination. So in this movement that child makes is they’re bringing their arms and their legs into the middle of their body while they’re lying on their back. And they’re also raising their head. And then they uncross their arms an

I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey, folks, it’s Dr. Sam, and I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. I’m on my morning walk. And I want to take a question from Phyllis. And she’s struggling with her eye care. And she wants me to talk about what are some tips that I can give her so that she can have a successful outcome in her vision exam. And this is also being inspired by a video 22nd video I did on tick tock recently, on three things you can do to improve your experience at your eye doctor and get what you need. And then the video went viral. So either people like my personality, or they really received some value in what I was talking about. So I want to go through what you can do to make your eye exam more pleasurable. So the first thing to note is that, you know, depending on what town you live in, it’s important that you do some research, you know, after all, this is your eyes, just like any other part of your body. And you have to decide, what is your philosophy, you know, for some people, they just like to go and they get their glasses strengthened every year, they get their eye health checked, if they get a cataract, they’re just gonna go get the surgery. And then there are people like in my community who go, you know, I don’t want to get a bigger, larger prescription every year. And if I’m told I have something, I would like some help to reverse it or improve it. So it starts with your choice. And that comes from your research. Ask around in your community. You know, I have to say that sometimes, the older doctors are a little less seduced by all the technology, and all the diseases that they’ve studied. And the younger doctors are voracious at looking for diseases being more involved in the allopathic model. And if you’re not interested in that, and you’re not interested in that aggressiveness. Look for a middle aged doctor. I know this is biased, but some of my women come up colleagues are a little more empathic and compassionate, and a little more open minded. But you never know, it kind of depends on the person. So once you’ve done your due diligence, and you make the appointment even if you don’t think the doctor agrees with you. And you may need to take a friend or family member to share what you want. Because after all, it’s your body, it’s your eyes. It’s your philosophy. And even if they just they don’t follow what you do, you put it out there. Now, in the exam, actual examination for if you need glasses or contacts, and I shared this on the TikTok video. Ask the doctor to slow down if they are using the technique, which lens is clear one or two? I mean, I’ve seen some of my colleagues. They’ll do it this fast, which is clear one or two, one or two, one or two, one or two? Come on. And there’s no way anybody can answer that quickly. And by the way, if you choose a prescription, you know you’ve got to live with it for the next year or two. And it shouldn’t be that way. So you ask the doctor to slow down and you want to take at least 30 seconds in between his shifting back and forth and feel it in your eyes. Feel it in your body. 04:42 And I know that sounds kind of weird, but you can even look through the lens and close your eyes. And by doing that, you bring your aware awareness more internal and because the eyelids still lit up light into the eyeball at a much lower rate. But still, it lets light in through the eyelids because they’re like window shades. You can feel if the lens is too tight or too strong, you can even look and see if the lens is warping things or distorting things. And you’re choosing a lens that feels the most relaxing to you with giving you clarity. Okay, and that is the critical piece right there. Obviously, you want clarity. But you also want comfort. And you don’t want to do one without the other in terms of the lens prescription that you get. Now, for those of us that are, you know, ove

It’s so great to be back with you. And I’m excited to share all this information. Also want to leave time for Q&A, make sure we’ve got plenty of space to do that. So in our list here today, I want to go through several things, and then we can elaborate, if need be. So the first thing on the list is a quick review about how to read glasses, prescriptions. And by the way, if anybody wants to say something in the chat, they can, I can also bring you on, if if you need clarification. So when you get a child and you’re looking through their file, and you get the prescription, there some notations that you can look at now will at least give you an indication on what they have been prescribed. So in the nomenclature of the eye prescriptions, which is an FDA approved document, the Eau de represents the right eye, and the OS represents the left guy. 01:22 And usually the OD is on top and the OS is on the bottom, usually in a prescription form. So the first thing that you want to look at is whether the first number has a plus sign or a minus sign in front of it. So a plus sign means that there’s going to be a farsighted prescription. This is the magnification lens, a plus lens, or a minus lens, which is a negative lens, a nearsighted lens, a minus lens. And on a real basic level, a plus lens, usually a person has more difficulty seeing things up close. This is also a prescription that’s used more for strabismus and amblyopia, generally speaking. And nearsighted. Minus lens means that a person is having more struggles in the distance that they can see well up close. So whatever you’re seeing plus or minus, that’s going to cue you the first number is going to be farsighted or nearsighted. Lis, so let’s say for argument’s sake, it’s a one. So this means that if it’s a plus one, that means that the prescription is farsighted. We call that the sphere SPH. And then if you look at the next, a number over and you’ll see above it c y L, that’s called cylinder. That’s the astigmatism part of the prescription. And if an ophthalmologist is doing the examination, he was going to write it in a plus cylinder plus a stigmatism format. If it’s an optometrist, he or she is going to write it in a minus cylinder format. Now, at this point, it doesn’t really matter because you’re not going to be transposing prescriptions, meaning that you’re converting them all to minus cylinder. But you’ll know that if it’s a plus cylinder, the ophthalmologist did the exam. And if it’s a minus cylinder, the optometrist did the exam. And then you’re going to look at the next number over and that’s going to be the amount of astigmatism in the prescription. Now a astigmatism means the eye is shaped more like an egg, or a football. Also perceptually a person, when they look through an astigmatism lens, there’s a warp. So there’s an irregular blur that’s going on. And then if we take it one step further, and I get a lot of interesting comments on my social media posts, when I talk about cranial sacral therapy, unwinding the astigmatism in the eye, because the astigmatism actually is sourced in the body as a twist. So this could go into a birth trauma coming out of the birth canal, or it could be a problem with the spinal Gilat reflex. And so a stigmatism in the eye means that there’s probably some twist or warp going on in the body. Could be a scoliosis could be one leg longer than another. It could be some kind Have a head trauma. There’s a lot of reasons why we develop a stigmatism in the eye, but it has its roots in the body. This is why I don’t correct for a stigmatism in the eye, and I do cranial sacral therapy, and the astigmatism goes away in the eye. Whereas if you were in a stigmatism lens, and you do cranial sacral therapy, after the session, the twist is gone in the body. But as soon as you put the lenses on the astigmatism comes right back. So it’s a very interesting relationship between the astigmatism reading in
My Protocol For Improving Macular Health
Macular Degeneration is a growing problem that more and more people are dealing with. Hey, everybody, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to bring you in on a session I did recently with somebody who was diagnosed with macular degeneration seems to be going around more and more people are developing macular problems, whether it be wet or dry. So enjoy the show. And here we go. Here’s where we begin, I’m going to give you a little anatomy lesson. The macula is the center part of the retina. And it’s made of mostly cones, color vision. And it’s also the place where we see detail now makes up less than 1% of the entire real estate of the retina. So you’ve got 99% of the retina cells that aren’t macula. And the key here are a couple of keys. Number one, the macula, because it doesn’t get direct blood supply running through it. It relies on its nutrient accumulation indirectly. And it’s a vulnerable area for getting enough nutrients. And if it doesn’t get enough nutrients, two things happen. Either the macula dries out, and that’s the less serious kind, or the macula begins to accumulate fluid behind itself. Because it’s so starved, that it begins to create fragile blood vessels, temporary blood vessels to help feed itself. But the problem with that scenario, and the condition is called angiogenesis, when you start creating these fragile blood vessels, this is when you can get a bleed. And it has to do with ultimately a couple of things, your glucose levels in your blood. So if you have moderate to high glucose levels, you have a higher chance of these blood vessels forming and bleeding. And number two, there could be other toxicity factors that you’ve been exposed to things like mold, Candida, leaky gut syndrome, inflammation, head trauma, heavy metal toxicity, just to name a few that create this, this fluid buildup in the macula. Now, some other things that lower our macular health is the constant exposure of blue light emitted from either LED lights or your screens. In fact, it’s become so prevalent, that the blue light, if you’re not protecting the macula, will add to this syndrome of a drying out. Or again, going more to the wet side, the fluid buildup. So to be proactive in this is the name of the game. Because once you start in with the injections, which they only do for the wet kind, you are now in the dependent system of the allopathic medical people. And the pharmaceutical drugs create many side effects, including scar tissue, inflammation, blurred vision, and so on. It’s it’s a symptomatic control for a short period of time, but it’s not really getting to the root cause. So the first thing I want to say is that it’s very important for you to include a few essential nutrients. And probably the best way to do that is at least for three minds, to start taking, taking some I generated formulas, and you’re already taking a lot of things to begin with. So we need to be selective about what you may take. So there are three essential ingredients that protect the macula right off the bat. Two of them are plant based and one of them is marine based. 04:58 So the plant based ingredients are called carotenoids. And you may have heard of them. One is called lutein. And the other is called Xia xantham. So these are pigments that come from the plants that actually coat the macula and deflect both the UV light and the blue light. And you should be taking 16 milligrams a day of lutein alongside six milligrams a day of Xia Xanthan and then adding the marine carotenoid, which is called Asda Xanten. And you can get that either through seafood wild cod salmon, any kind of Pink’s seafood, or I’ve created a micro algae type supplement, where it’s very concentrated and there you would take somewhere between six and or 12 milligrams a day of acid Xanthine. So to repeat 16 milligrams a day of lutein six milligrams a day of Xanthine, and six to 12 milligrams a day of Astra xantham. Now here’s the rub. lutein and zeaxanthin are fat soluble v
How I Treat an Ocular Melanoma
Ocular Melanoma in the eyes is a very rare but serious form of cancer that I want to discuss today. It develops in the cells that produce pigment. And I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. So it’s great to have you in today. Before I start, I want to make a few announcements. So first of all, I’m going I’m going to be teaching a three day online retreat, we call it the vision sanctuary retreat. And this will occur October 7th-9th 2022. And we’re getting ready to put the announcement up on my web store. So if you want to register for that, the last time I did it, it was so successful, and people made some really great shifts in their vision and their health. So go to my website, drsamberne.com. And click on classes and you will see the vision sanctuary retreat. Again, we’re putting it up right now. So it should be available for registration by the end of July. So today’s show, I want to take a question on a condition called ocular melanoma. I received this question from a listener on Instagram. Her father has been diagnosed with this condition and she wants to know what I recommend. So briefly, an ocular melanoma is a type of cancer. And I want to just say at the beginning, this is a very serious cancer. And that develops in the cells that produce pigment. Now pigment gives us the color of our skin, our hair, even our eye color. And you can develop melanomas anywhere in your body, but you can also develop melanomas inside your eye. And although they are pretty rare, they are a very serious condition. Now usually, ocular melanomas begin in the middle of the I called the UV. And it can then travel either to the innermost layer, the retina, or it can travel to the outer layer of the eye, called the sclera. That’s the white part of the eye. It’s made of connective tissue. Rarely will you see an eye melanoma that occurs on the inside part of the eyelid which we call the conjunctiva. Now, because most II melanomas form in the part of the eye that you can’t see, if you look into a mirror, it is very difficult to self diagnose because there are not any signs or symptoms at least early on. And so that’s why it’s important to get a regular eye exam. Because as an exam, the doctor can recognize if there are pigment cells that are abnormal. And we’ll talk a little more about that. So what causes melanomas? Well, a couple of things that we need to note that if you’re a fair skinned person, if you develop moles on your skin, if you’re light sensitive, you probably have a little higher risk of developing melanomas in the eye and I want to stress this is a very rare condition. So it’s not anything that you have to necessarily worry about. But certainly, when there’s a shift in the skin pigmentation, especially in the eyelids, or inside the eye, it’s important to identify is it actually a melanoma? Or is it just what we call a Naevus? You know, it’s a benign discoloration. And again, usually, at least in the early stages, you don’t have any symptoms. Now later on, you can develop conditions like blind spots in your peripheral vision, blurred vision, distorted vision, flashing lights, a change in the shape of the pupil, that’s the gatekeeper, which dilates and constricts based on light. So the way you’re diagnosed and diagnosed in high melanoma is by doing a dilated eye exam and I know many of you write me and say, Oh, I don’t want to get a dilated exam. I don’t like the side effects, I’m just not going to do it. And I would say this, that it’s good to get a dilated exam, at least every couple of years. Now, if you don’t have a risk of developing eye conditions, you don’t have to get dilated at every exam. And in fact, there are now scanning devices that can take pictures of the back of your eyes without needing to do dilated drops. But in this particular case, if the doctor recognizes that there’s a pigmentation change somewhere in the eye, the next stage might be to order what we call an ultrasound. 05:50 And many of you have probably had ultrasounds, t
What To Do When My Cataract-Reversing Protocol Doesn’t Work
Cataracts affect a growing number of people, and many factors can contribute to this. I have found that adding certain specific antioxidants can reduce cataract formation and, in some cases, eliminate it altogether. But they don’t work for everyone. So today, I wanted to talk to those who aren’t seeing results with my approach and discuss why this might be and how you can move forward. Enjoy the show. This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey, everybody, it’s Dr. Sam. And I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. Great to have you in today. And I’m going to be talking about cataracts. So when we go to the eye doctor, and the doctor looks into our eyes, and he or she says, Oh, you have the start of cataract, and you ask the doctor, is there anything you can do? And basically, he or she will say, well, we just watch it. When it gets ripe. We cut it out. Now, in my practice, and through my social media outlets, you know, I’ve been at this for over three decades, I definitely have found that adding certain specific antioxidants, at the very least, can reduce cataract formation. And in some cases, the cataract can go away. In fact, in early stage cataracts, my community does very well at either a, keeping the cataract from getting worse, or be reversing it completely. And there are a variety of factors, why we develop cataracts. But what I want to spotlight in this show is those small percentage of people who contact me and say, Dr. Berne, I’ve been using your protocols for three months, six months, nine months, I’m frustrated because things aren’t getting better. And in a few cases, things might even be getting worse. So that’s the group I want to address today. But it’s going to affect all of us, because cataract development is in such a huge part of the population, especially once we hit age 60. Now what is a cataract, it’s basically free radicals oxidative stress that begins to accumulate in the lens of the eye. The lens is made up of mostly protein and water. And this protein can start to break down. Sometimes glucose molecules start to attach to the protein. And this is called the glycation process. So it’s a it’s a cause of certain types of cataracts like cortical cataracts. This would be the type of cataracts associated with things like high glucose levels in the blood or diabetes. But we run down the list on why we develop cataracts. Smokers, people drink too much alcohol, diabetics, people have had eye surgery to treat glaucoma, retinal detachment, taking steroid drugs, taking statin drugs, getting radiation, or chemotherapy. Now, there are two other factors that I will give a little bit of credence to the first is genetics. Because we need to be careful around just saying, Well, my grandmother had cataracts, my father had cataracts. So I’m gonna get cataracts. Because when we say that we invalidate the the science around what we call epigenetics. And epigenetics means that our genes express in a certain way based on our environment, what we eat, what we think, what our emotional health is, like, what our lifestyle is like. And all of those things influence how the DNA expressed themselves. So I’ll give a little bit of influence on genetics. But be very careful that you don’t get too attached to that particular idea. Because if you do, you’re probably going to, you know, follow in the footsteps of your father, your grandfather, in terms of eye diseases and cataracts and other other things. And it really puts you into a victim state, instead of saying, Well, wait a minute, you know, yeah, my parents had this had cataracts. But I know that if I do A, B, C, D, and E, I lower my risk. So that’s one aspect. The other aspect is in mainstream, they say, oh, too much exposure to the sun, without sunglasses will definitely cause cataracts. And I disagree. I do think in a moderate way we do you need to protect ourselves from the sun, especially in the summertime, if we’re outside all day. If we live in a climate like where I live in the desert southwest, or by the ocean. There are times I do wear sunglasses, and I take them off and I put them on, but I’m also getting about 30 minutes of natural sunlight every day. And, you know, we 04:54 actually need trace amounts of ultr
My Position on LASIK Surgery
LASIK surgery is becoming more and more common. So today I want to talk about an article that came out discussing the side effects people have when they get LASIK and weigh the pros and cons of the surgery with you. Enjoy the show. This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam and I want to welcome you to my EyeClarity Podcast. Today I want to talk about LASIK surgery. But the way I’m going to do this is I’m going to bring up an article that was published in 2018 in The New York Times, and the title of the article is blurred vision, burning eyes. This is LASIK success. Now, I can go into the hundreds, probably 1000s of patients that I’ve treated over the years, who have had LASIK surgery, and then they’ve had side effects afterward. And I think I’ll do that towards the end of the show today. But right now, I want to talk a little bit about this article because it was very revealing, in that, you know, LASIK surgery, although it has been around for a long time. In fact, the FDA approved the first lasers in the 1990s. And according to the article, almost 10 million Americans have had lasik eye surgery as a quick fix to get rid of glasses and contacts. And as far back as 2008. People were complaining after LASIK surgery, they had blurry vision, they had chronic pain, they had dry eyes. And there were both reports in the short term and long term risks and complications of lasik surgery. And in the article, they talk about 1/3 of the people at least who they reported on had serious discomfort in terms of dry eyes, blurred vision, difficulty seeing at night. And, you know, although although the FDA certainly is approved this particular surgery, there are outcomes that are less than, let’s say, easy to deal with. In the article they talked about patients who suffer chronic halos excessive glare, difficulty seeing at night. And in some cases, people who got the monovision type of LASIK surgery, they even had more problems. Now, you’ve heard my report on mono vision in many video blogs, podcasts, written blogs. And whenever you correct one eye for distance and one eye for near, you’re setting up a situation where your brain is definitely going to be confused. It’s almost a double vision type scenario. Because if you think about it, let’s say the right eye is your dominant eye. And that’s the eye you’re deciding to drive with, that’s going to be correcting you for distance, and your left eye is your reading eye. And that’s going to be correcting you for near that when you go to look in the distance your left eye is not engaging with the right eye. So this eliminates depth perception. At the same token, let’s say you’re on your screen for a few hours every day, while your left eye is carrying the load pretty much by itself because the right eye has fixed its focal point in the distance. So what the brain has to do at that point is suppress one of the eyes in order to see. So there’s a gentleman who is quoted in the article, his name is Morris Waxler. And he’s a retired senior FDA official official. And he actually admits that he regrets the role he played in lasix approval. And he actually started a patient turn advocate group that runs out they run a website and on the website they say they say top 10 reasons not to have LASIK surgery. So it’s pretty damning in terms of what the potential risks are with LASIK surgery. However, this is a positive thing I want to say about LASIK surgery. When you have a high degree of myopia you can do my eye exercises five hours a day 05:00 You’re never going to get free of your lenses, and I’m talking about anything over three to four diopters. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have had patients in the area of minus five minus six, who’ve been able to reduce their prescriptions by 6070 80%. But they still need a small prescription, to see the things clearly like for driving, driving at night, and so on. There is an emotional, psychological energetic, win situation that’s really positive, when you go through my therapy, as a way to really integrate the prescription that it’s not only in the eyes, but is in the mind, the brain and the body. And as I’ve said, many tim
My Heavy Metal Detox Protocol
Today we are going to cover my heavy metal detox protocol using essential oils. I don’t think that toxicity levels have ever been higher. We can get exposed to heavy metals through our environment and our immune systems are obviously getting really challenged. These are causing symptoms like headaches, sleep problems, digestive issues, anxiety, hypertension, depression, memory issues, kidney problems, muscle weakness, anemia, impaired fertility, tinnitus, and light sensitivity. I find that there are some tests that patients can do that are helpful. So I’m going to go through very briefly, the tests that are possible, and you get to choose. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. SUMMARY KEYWORDS essential oils, test, toxins, oils, body, called, heavy metals, atlas, companies, imbalances, protocol, skin irritation, skin, grapefruit, kidneys, air, phenol, heavy metal toxicities, detoxification, cilantro Hello, everyone, it’s Dr. Hey everybody, Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I’m going to take a question from a gentleman who’s been following me for a long time. His question is, what is my heavy metal detox protocol using essential oils? Well, I want to start off by saying that I don’t think that toxicity levels have ever been higher. Water, food, air, our immune systems are obviously getting really challenged. And we can get exposed to heavy metals through our environment. And it’s important to also know that old Mercury dental fillings, cooking utensils, household products, being exposed to plastics, drinking connect contaminated water. Eating farmed fish are all sources of heavy metal exposure. Some of the more common heavy metal toxins include things like mercury, copper, aluminum, and lead, and unknowingly, most people are building up heavy metals in their bloodstream and their urine. And these are causing symptoms like headaches, sleep problems, digestive issues, anxiety, hypertension, depression, memory issues, kidney problems, muscle weakness, anemia, impaired fertility, tinnitus, and light sensitivity. So after studying functional medicine, taking lots of courses, learning from different experts, I find that there’s some tests that patients can do that are helpful. And as you know, one of my teachers used to say, there are many ways up the mountain, choose one that works for you. And take that path. And I’m referring to which test might be the best one for you, I don’t know. It’s all dependent on your circumstances, what your symptoms are, what your genetics are, what your lifestyle is, like, things, things of that nature. So I’m going to go through very briefly, the tests that are possible, and you get to choose. First of all, there’s a urine test, which is called a cellular energy profile. And this can evaluate up to 14 organic acids, and it provides well, it provides a snapshot on what’s going on on a cellular level, it can also show metabolic distress. And it is very effective at uncovering what your toxic exposure might be your nutrient imbalance, your digestive dysfunction, and your kidney health. Then there’s the conventional blood tests that look at things like your cholesterol levels, your HDL and LDL levels, your C reactive proteins, I like to test things like homocysteine. But anyways, a blood analysis conventionally is also a good thing to get. If you want to go a little deeper and blood analysis, there’s some holistic doctors to do something called a dark field microscopy. And this evaluates the individual blood cells through a microscope that’s projected on a screen and this is measuring your live blood. And although this is not FDA approved, I found this test can be invaluable for diagnosing things like Candida endocrine imbalances, poor metabolism, and of course, heavy metal toxicity. 04:12 Then the last, a test that I suggest would be a hair mineral analysis. So this can be called elemental tissue analysis, and it provides a reading on your mineral ratio levels within a two to three period snapshot. And it’s a sensitive test that again tells us what’s going on on cell level, it can reveal long standing imbalances, way before a blood test does. And it looks at the mineral ratios as a way to infer what’s going on in the entire body. It’s simple, it’s non invasive, but it is a screening test and it’s not intended for diagnostic disease, but it can and show heavy metal toxicities in the hair. So now let’s move to the work of aroma
Does Atropine Drug Therapy Reduce Myopia in Children?
Atropine is what we call an anticholinergic drug, which means that it blocks acetylcholine. And when you block acetylcholine, it can cause temporary paralysis in the focusing system of the eye and it also dilates the pupil. So this particular technique is used by some eye doctors in low doses, to see if you can slow down school-aged myopia. My feeling is that Atropine therapy is really another symptomatic approach. It’s not really getting to the cause of what myopia really is. So let’s talk about the cause of myopia. And then I can offer some protocols that maybe go a little deeper than just treating the symptom. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam and I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. So today I’m going to take a question from a mom, she’s got a five year old daughter who’s been diagnosed with myopia. And for the past two years, the myopia has increased. And now the child is in minus four lenses full time. And so the doctor is recommending a type of therapy called after pain therapy. And she wants to know what I think about that. So after pain is an eyedropper, an eyedropper that dilates the pupil and temporarily paralyzes the focusing system of the eyeball. Now, atropine is what we call an anti cholinergic drug, which means that it blocks acetylcholine. And when you block acetylcholine, it can cause a temporary paralysis in the focusing system of the eye. And it also dilates the pupil. So this particular technique is used by some eye doctors in low doses, to see if you can slow down school aged myopia. Well, in my case, my feeling is is that the Atropine therapy is really another symptomatic approach. It’s not really getting to the cause of what myopia really is. So let’s talk about the cause of myopia. And then I can offer some protocols that maybe go a little deeper than just treating the symptom. Now, obviously, one sip symptom approach is continually giving stronger and stronger glasses. It’s important to note that myopia is one of the fastest growing visual conditions today, mainly because we are in a visually constricted spatial experience, where either on our phone or tablet, or our computer most of the day. And so myopia is about pulling in the space world, usually, you know, 10 inches or so. And you’re giving up the distance clarity, so that you can be more efficient up close. Now, some other symptoms of myopia is that because it’s a pulling in, the eye muscles become tighter, there’s a lockdown. And then the person goes to the eye doctor, and gets the strong lens prescription, which really reinforces the pattern that the person is creating. So we’ve got the genetic influence, but we we also have the environmental influence that is, I think, much more profound and influential in changing a person’s vision. So it’s a restricted space we’re pulling in, we’re tightening, and then you’re getting a minus lens, which reinforces the same thing. And so just perpetuating the same pattern. And usually people that are nearsighted, they like to read they like to, you know, do most of their focusing up close. And so they’re not able to release their eyes into the distance to relax their vision. So when we talk about atropine therapy, it’s a very localized way of trying to treat myopia and yet, myopia is related to our thinking, our emotional and psychological responses. It’s related somewhat to biochemistry. And it’s basically we’re restricting our movement so that we can be really efficient at one distance, which is up close, and we give up everything else. In order to do that. It’s a big sacrifice. So in treating myopia we can look at it from especially in children a developmental perspective, what does that mean? Well, you know, one of the places I trained was the gazelle Institute. And Arnold Gazelle was a physician and researcher, and he was a child development specialist and he started this clinic in 1948. 05:00 And it was devoted to helping children who had what we call a mismatch between their chronological age and their performance age. Today, we might call that a developmental delay. We also might call it somebody who lives on the spectrum disorders from either au

You know, I’m, you probably can tell from my pictures and videos that, you know, I’ve got some gray hair at this point. But when I was younger, I used to play a lot of competitive sports. And probably my favorite sport was basketball. And when I was growing up, I grew up in central Pennsylvania. And so a lot of my friends, we would talk a lot about the NBA and we talked about the Philadelphia 70 Sixers, that was the time when we had the players Dr. J. Julius Erving and Moses Malone, and they actually won a championship. And my friends and I used to play a lot of basketball. And I was a really good guard, I played point guard. And, you know, when I went to college, you know, mostly play just intramurals intramural basketball, but was really high level. And then when I went to optometry school in Philadelphia, I was playing in a number of leagues, you know, in between the intensive studies that I had to put in. So basketball was always something I was really interested in. And I had the good fortune, and one of my internships, which was out in San Diego, where I was working in practice, it was one of my mentors and teachers, Dr. Robert Santa, and Dr. Santa was very involved in vision therapy. And he was working with the men’s Olympic volleyball players, when I was interning at the office. And so I got to be one of the, you know, the, the support people in some of the vision therapy exercises that Dr. Santa was, was promoting and doing and he had had a lot of experience and success working with very high level athletes. So I was very grateful to be you know, as an intern, I was kind of at the lowest rung of the ladder. But I learned a lot, I absorbed a lot about the importance of things like peripheral vision, visual reaction time, visual tracking. And in this particular situation, what I observed was that these men’s volleyball players actually really improved their statistics in terms of spiking the ball and serving the ball. And, you know, in the vision therapy they did, there was an article that was written about the vision therapy that helped them win the gold medal, and that was really, because of Dr. Santa and his expertise. But I got to be got to be a part of that. And I saw the relationship between our vision and our sports. So fast forward, you know, I after my internship in San Diego, I moved back to the Philadelphia area. And, you know, when I started my practice in Philly, I began working with, you know, soccer players and tennis players, baseball players. And by helping them enhance their peripheral vision. And their visual reaction time, we actually used to have a sports vision board that was blinking different lights. And you know, we would put people on these balance boards or on an eyepatch that would use an eyepatch or prism glasses. And it really interfered with their ability to develop eye hand coordination and visual reaction time. 04:38 But then when they would take those obstacles off their vision, their scores just skyrocketed, and of course, this began to translate into increasing their sports performance. So at this point in my career, you know, I’d given up all of the kind of really competitive sports. I did a lot of things like triathlons and marathons are doing more individual type sports just personally. And then in 1990, I sold my practice in Philadelphia and I moved to New Mexico. And one of the reasons why I moved to New Mexico is because in one of my internship programs, I actually worked at the Indian Hospital in Santa Fe, and I knew that Santa Fe would be a really good place to do more holistic vision, Optometry. So I moved there 90
Benefits of Nitric Oxide for Glaucoma
Nitric Oxide is a molecule that’s produced naturally by your body and it’s important for many aspects of your health. One of the most important functions of nitric oxide is something called vasodilation. This means that the inner muscles of the blood vessels begin to widen and this increases your circulation. I want to talk about how this can be beneficial for you. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, Dr. Sam here, I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. So today I want to talk about nitric oxide. This is a molecule that’s produced naturally by your body. And it’s important for many aspects of your health. One of the most important functions of nitric oxide is something called vasodilation. And this means that the inner muscles of the blood vessels begin to widen and this increases your circulation. And the blood vessels that I want to talk about today are called the micro capillary blood vessels, and they make up over 70% of the circulation in the body. And yet, allopathic medicine very rarely will target or address the health of the micro capillaries. They’re really looking at the big arteries and veins only. Well, this is where nitric oxide comes in. Because the production of it has been found to be essential for our health because it improves the blood supply our circulation, and this allows for better nutrient absorption, better oxygenation, better hydration, which reduces inflammation and oxidative stress. In fact, nitric oxide is used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular health, diabetes, erectile dysfunction, and I want to talk about how nitric oxide could benefit your eye health, especially if you’ve been diagnosed with glaucoma. I’m going to point you to a study that was published in the investigative ophthalmology and visual science journal. And in this particular research study, researchers took a look at nitric oxide and the regulation of the fluid production in the eye. And the technical term is called aqueous humor dynamics. So this means that, you know in the production rate of the aqueous humor humor, there’s an exiting of the fluid through these outflow pathways. And some of the famous ones which I’ve talked about before in other shows the trabecular meshwork and Slim’s canal actually make up somewhere between 60 and 90% of the entire outflow of this fluid in the eye. Now, when there is elevated intraocular pressure, there’s a blockage in this outflow. And this is a contributing factor to optic nerve damage. So progressive optic nerve damage and loss of retinal ganglion cells, nerve fiber layers that thin in the retina. These are all the kind of the result of the poor circulation in the eye which leads to glaucoma and glaucoma is a silent disease. We don’t know that we have it. And of course, their genetic influences on you know, having a higher incidence of developing glaucoma, but also things like head trauma, inflammatory disease, oxidative stress, visual stress, just to name a few reasons why people develop glaucoma. So in this particular study, nitric oxide was reported to have positive effects and being able to regulate the front part of the eye the muscle we call the iris sphincter muscle. And this is the colored part of the eye that you see that regulates the pupil. And then in the posterior part of the eye, optic nerve, ocular blood vessels, there was a potential of benefit with glaucoma patients by reducing their inter ocular pressure when they used nitric oxide. 04:46 So what are some sources of nitric oxide? Well, certain vegetables contain a compound called nitrate. And some of these vegetables include celery, lettuce, B, gruit, arugula, spinach. And when these foods are consumed, nitrates are converted to nitric oxide, which then gives us those health benefits of the vasodilation. So it’s increasing our heart health. And it also can do things like lower blood pressure. And of course, it may also impact the circulation in our eyes. Now, those folks that eat things like bacon and cold cuts and hotdogs, those contain something called sodium nitrate. And those are commonly commonly used as preserved preservatives or color fixatives. And those are negative for you those can increase the risk of developing cancer. But if you get your nitra
Can You Improve Lazy Eye
Today we are talking about Amblyopia also known as Lazy Eye. It’s been a common idea that this can only be treated in childhood, but today we are going to look at research and discuss how it might be treated as you get older. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. SUMMARY KEYWORDS eye, lazy eye, child, doctors, perceptual learning, lazy, created, visual, adulthood, age, adults, ai, called, improve, therapy, vision, general anesthesia, institute, development, infant Hello, everyone, it’s Dr. Hi, everybody, Dr. Sam here, and we are at another EyeClarity podcast. So I want to talk about lazy eye. Another term for that is amblyopia. The reason why I bring this up is over the last six months, I have treated a number of children and adults who have been diagnosed with lazy eye. And in every case, the doctors that they went to see, said that if you don’t correct the amblyopia by age seven, you won’t be able to improve the vision. Now, in each case, the three children and the one adult, not only did they eliminate the amblyopia, but they were able to improve their depth perception, and their spatial awareness, increase their balance, their focus, their concentration. So I could sit here and say, you know, doing this over three decades, this information that most patients get from their doctor, that if you don’t correct this by age seven, then there’s nothing you can do. So I’m going to point to a couple of research studies. The first was conducted by the National Institutes of Health. And what they were trying to ascertain is the belief that the majority of eye doctors, what they’re saying in their offices, is that there’s a cut off age, and unless you treat the lazy eye before this cut off age, then forget about it. You can’t help people. So in this study, it was conducted at 49 different eye centers across the United States. Some very famous Institute’s like the Mayo Clinic, Emory Eye Center in Atlanta, Ohio State, Southern California, College of Optometry Bascom. Palmer Eye Institute in Florida. So what the study showed was that, well, there were 507 children between the ages of seven and 17. And the question was, could amblyopia be improved up to age 17. And the results showed that 53% of the seven to 12 year olds had improved vision following treatment, and 47%. Between the ages of 13 and 17 year olds, also gained improvement in their eyesight. So I want to take this a step further, because what about adults? Can human amblyopia be treated in adulthood? adulthood? And there was a really great research study was a collection of research papers, and it was put out by the Europe. It’s called Europe PMC author manuscripts. So it’s the PubMed of Europe. And in that research, they specifically studied can amblyopia be helped in adulthood. And, without a doubt, the results showed that adults with amblyopia could restore several aspects of their visual function and perceptual learning. And in this form of fine ocular to eye therapy. They found that there was a really strong positive influence when you do things like daily visual stimulation, you know, other broadband activities that would provide feedback to the adult so that they could again begin to stimulate and improve the lazy eye the amblyopic guy as a relates to The the better seeing eye. 05:04 So now we know that it is in the science, it’s in the literature, even though again, the eye doctors are saying, well, after a certain age, you can’t really do anything. Clinically over the years, I have seen incredible success stories with both children and adults who’ve been diagnosed with lazy eye visa vie amblyopia. And the form of therapy where they patch, the so called good eye for seven to nine hours a day, again, really doesn’t work. And the reason why it doesn’t work is because our brain has to learn how to use our two eyes together, as it relates to our body. I remember one of my teachers used to say, a vision problem was more than in the eye, it’s in the whole person. We certainly got this philosophy, when we were learning at the Gizelle Institute. And many of my mentors really hammer that point, in that you have to look at the whole person, and not just the eyeball. And so in lazy eye, that’s where an eye is, can maybe underdeveloped or it’s not stimulated as much as the other I that just that term lazy, you know, you think about this, if you’re called lazy, what happens you start absorbing that, that negative connotation. And then you start thinking, we
Do You Have Double Vision?

This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam, and I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I want to talk about double vision and prisms. You know, in my training, I spent some time early on working in a hospital setting. And I was able to help people who suffered traumatic brain injury. Another term for that is closed head trauma. It was an interesting juxtaposition because I just opened my practice in another doctor’s office in the Philadelphia area was just starting out. And I had great training for sure. But I had trouble getting patients. And so I contacted one of the local hospitals. And the physiatrist there said, you actually do something called physical therapy for the eyes, I never heard of that. I’ve got a lot of patients for you. So when I started in the outpatient part of the hospital, these folks suffer things like double vision, concentration issues, balance issues, they’re pretty lost. And the eye doctors tend to evaluate people’s vision, as you know, very much in a linear way, meaning that they’re just testing the HR at a distance, maybe at near looking at eye health, and then you’re out the door. So I began applying many of the techniques I had learned. And within a few months, I was getting such great results in this one hospital, that I was offered a contract in three other hospitals. And it’s a way that I actually built my practice in Philadelphia, which I eventually sold. And Philadelphia at the time was pretty conventional medical place. And so this alternative, innovative way of working with vision was not really well accepted. So in the communities of trauma, and special needs kids, these were the people that weren’t getting their needs met. And so I feel the need, and my reputation grew. And that is how I eventually built up a pretty nice sized practice, which I sold, and then moved out to New Mexico, where I am now in the early 1990s. And one of the techniques that I used and I learned this from about five developmental holistic optometrists. And what was really cool about it is they were in their 70s. I was in my late 20s, early 30s. And I would go to their meetings, they were usually up in either the Connecticut area, or down in Washington DC. And I would just be a sponge, I would just sit in the room and listen to them and know, they taught me a lot about lens prescribing. And one of the techniques in using lenses is using the special prisms called yoked prisms, why o ke D. 03:30 And this is a very different prism prescription than what is usually prescribed. The regular prism glasses that are prescribed by most eye doctors try to fix an eye by prescribing a prism on that eye. And what it does is it helps in the moment, but usually either the person rejects it in their vision, and they go back to seeing double vision or whatever their condition was, or they need more prism. This is very different. This is a prescription that actually is a game-changer in helping the eyes and the brain synchronize better. So I’m going to break that down a little bit more. So you understand. So when you go for an exam and the eye doctor is correcting you to 20/20 eyesight, they’re giving you glasses or contacts. And when you wear that prescription that lens, it focuses the light on a very small part of the real estate of the retina called the fovea. And this is the sharpest pinpoint, it’s like the bullseye where you know you get the prescription and you see things more clearly. And of course, what’s really going on is that you wear that for three months, six months a year and your eyes Then need more. And so you go back. And you get this prescription that again refocuses the light on the fovea. And this is how you get stronger and stronger prescriptions. On a yoke prism, this is a set of glasses, where you’re wearing the same prism on each eye, and the prisms are actually changing the direction of light that’s coming into the eyes. And the prisms can either shift the light, more, right, more left, more up and more down. So t

This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam, I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I want to talk about the healing benefits of Black Cumin. This is an essential oil that has been found to be very supportive of our health, our vision, and our immune system. It’s been called the blessed seed. It originates from Egypt. And it’s an ancient plant that has been shown to be able to help support our immune health and much more. Some of the fast facts about black cumin include its 21% protein 35%, polyunsaturated fats. So it’s a great source of essential fatty acids. And we know how important Omega three essential fatty acids are. They’re an anti-inflammatory agent. They support brain nerve, eye health, and many other things. black cumin also contains beta carotene biotin, which is very important for stabilizing your blood sugar levels. It also contains the trace minerals magnesium and selenium. We know that most people are deficient in magnesium and magnesium is very supportive for our heart health, our nerves or our muscles. Selenium is important as a relationship partner to glutathione as we know is an important immune booster on its own. black cumin also contains folic acid, which is supportive for our brain or nerves and our skin contains B vitamins, vitamin E, and zinc. I first discovered black cumin about 15 years ago and I was working with some autistic kids who had tested pretty high for heavy metal toxicity. And in my protocol of reducing heavy metals with these kids, black cumin was one of the essential oils I recommended. So in terms of what form you can get this essential oil into your body. There are a couple of different ways you can get a salve. You can get the black cumin in capsules. And the way I take it is I get black cumin oil. One of my favorite techniques is to make a black cumin eye compress or I take one tablespoon of black cumin seeds I crushed them. I put them in a cup of water I heat the water to boil let it sit for about 10 minutes. And then I can use a soft cloth to make a compress over the eyes. 03:48 And people have reported to me less dry, less inflammation in the eyelids and even supports retina circulation and it can reduce computer eye strain. 04:08 We’ve been dealing with a lot of fires this summer here in the desert southwest and I have used black cumin as a way to bathe and support my respiratory health. One of the simple procedures is using an inhalation technique where you take maybe six or eight drops and you put it on your hands and then you can cover your mouth and nose and you can breathe the black cumin through your nose and it will stimulate and support your respiratory health. As I said, black cumin is really wonderful for immune boosting the way I take The black comb and as I do about six to eight drops in a cup of water in the morning. And again, it’s very, very helpful at supporting immune health. Now two companies that I recommend, and I get no financial back benefit from recommending these companies, but these are companies that I personally use, and I find them to be very, very high quality, they test their oils. The source of their oils is from farmers, who are using some process of either organic or biodynamic farming techniques. Lotus garden botanicals, and the other company is still playing aromatics, he can’t go wrong with either either of them and they both will be able to supply you with black cumin oil. So, two thumbs up for black cumin I highly recommend it as an essential oil by the way. I’ve actually used it on my hair, my skin, my nails, it’s really great makes everything really shiny. And with all the trace minerals and things in black cumin it’s really great for your skin, hair and nail health. So that’s our show for today. I wish you all the best. Thanks for tuning in. Until next time, take care. Thank you for listening. I hope you learned something from the EyeClarity podcast show today. If you enjoyed the episode, make sure to subscribe on iTunes or Spotif
Remedies for Dark Under-Eye Circles

This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey, everybody, its Dr. Sam, I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I want to take a question about tips on what you can do. If you have dark circles after your eyes, I get this question a lot. So I want to go through some of the steps that I take, and what are the causes and what are some of the remedies. Now there is a genetic component to dark circles. So if you fit under that category, listen closely. There are also many other reasons why we develop dark circles under the eyes. So I’m going to go through my checklist. Number one is the state of your sinus health. You know, I see more and more people with congested sinuses, and this represents a blockage or a reduced flow in our lymphatic health. Remember, the sinuses go all around the eyes. And if there’s congestion, it’s the venous system of our circulation and the veins are blue. This creates a blank a backflow of blood. Now one of the remedies is to use a neti pot daily. And I usually fill it up with maybe halfway with some warm water. And I’ll put a drop of tea tree oil or a drop of eucalyptus oil. And I’ll do nasal rinses with the neti pot. Some other things that I might use would be colostrum, this actually helps correct connect us to the immune system, especially if we have allergies. And I’m going to bookmark allergies. I’m going to come back to that. So sinus congestion is number one. And by the way, if you start getting some congestion or runny nose, there’s a T out there called Morman. MLR, Mo n t, which is a weak version of ephedra. And while ephedra was taken off the market because it can increase our adrenaline the risk is so small, and the benefits are so high. If you drink this Mormon tea, it actually can help reduce sinus congestion and improve lung function. So something to note there. Now let’s talk diet. If you’re one of those people that combines meat, with sugar, let’s say a burger with Barban on a bun or fries and a coke. This actually can create some pretty serious sinus congestion. So changing your diet is another thing also dairy products. You know I talk a lot about dairy, creating more mucus, more congestion, and this can also clog up your respiratory system. Okay, I did another podcast on liver liver function. And the liver is the main organ are one of the main organs for detoxification. So if there’s both congestion or just stress on the liver, one of the best remedies is using milk thistle. In fact, milk thistle can help repair liver damage. You can also take small amounts of colostrum or probiotics. But if you’re going to do this type of remedy colostrum or probiotics, start slow. Go easy, because this is going to trigger a detoxification reaction. It’s going to start triggering more immune health, but you have to start slowly. Another reason why we develop dark circles under the eyes can be 04:46 you guessed it, adrenal fatigue. And when we are under chronic stress, we have more cortisol cortisol flowing in the bloodstream. This creates anxiety of course and It also affects our sleep. So getting your adrenals in balance is really important. Getting out in nature every day, taking walks getting some natural sunlight, increasing vitamin D. So getting sunlight, more more natural light on a daily basis, because the adrenal fatigue goes hand in hand with being able to improve our sleep. In fact, if we can improve our sleep, many times those dark circles begin to fade away. Another thing to take a look at is foods that contain potassium. If there’s an imbalance in our sodium potassium level, remember, sodium is involved in fluid retention, then this also can be one of the causes of dark circles under the eyes. And then the last one I want to talk about is allergy. So if you suffer chronic allergies, you have a higher risk of getting dark circles under your eyes. Some simple things that you can do would be vitamin C, increasing that increasing colostrum boosting your intestinal health, so dietary absorption, may be worki
The Relationship Between Your Eyes and Liver

If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, its Dr. Sam and I’d like to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I want to talk about our liver health. You know, the liver is so important on many levels. But before I talk about the liver, I want to talk about Chinese medicine and acupuncture. I’ve studied acupuncture. When I first moved to Santa Fe, I met an oriental medical doctor, and he really opened my consciousness around the potency of using ACC acupuncture, as a form of therapy. I was suffering from chronic headaches, I’ve had a little fatigue because it had been a pretty hard move from the East Coast out to Santa Fe, it was a little depleted and going to my acupuncture doctor for a few months, I found that my energy returned, my digestion improved, my sleep got better. And so I studied Chinese medicine for about three years, and also studied herbal medicine. And, of course, that was over three decades ago. And to this day, I believe that acupuncture really helps promote healing by activating our body’s existing self healing abilities. Acupuncture is very safe. What happens is is the the doctor of oriental medicine will read the pulses in your body. And then based on perhaps energy, energy deficiencies, or energy accesses, the doctor will apply acupuncture needles, and there are 12 Major meridians in the body. And these particular meridians reflect the energy and blood to the major internal organs of the body like kidneys, spleen, lung, heart, and liver, which we’re going to get to in a minute. So when I began to connect Chinese medicine, with vision, of course, in our studies, we look at the relationship of the liver, to eye health and many of the meridians, those 12 meridians that run through the body. They connect the internal organs to different parts of the eyeball. Today I’m going to talk about the liver and probably in our culture and the speed of life and the toxicities that we’re constantly being exposed to. Our liver health is more important now than it’s ever been. Here are some of the things that the liver does delivers. First of all, the liver produces bile, which helps carry away waste waste products. And it also helps break down fats. And I’ve talked about in other podcasts. If you’re taking fat soluble vitamins like vitamin A, lutein, zeaxanthin, and your eyes are not getting better it could be because the liver is stressed the liver produces the bile the gallbladder stores the bile, but if you’re not producing or storing the bile properly, then you’re having a difficult time breaking down these fat soluble vitamins. So you’re not absorbing these very important nutrients into your eyes. So if you’ve got conditions like dry eye, macular degeneration, cataracts glaucoma, just to name a few and you are taking either healthy supplements or foods and you’re not getting better. It could be because your liver is not working properly. Now another thing that the liver does is it helps regulate the levels of sugar, protein and fat entering your bloodstream. The liver also clears your blood of potentially harmful substances, toxins, clears your blood of alcohol and pharmaceutical drugs. The liver also helps process nutrients that are absorbed by your intestines during digestion time. The liver produces cholesterol, proteins and clotting factors to help your blood clot normally, it regulates many of your hormones, and it’s directly related to your eye health. So I want to give you some simple ways to help you support your liver. Number one, find an acupuncturist in your area. Go get some acupuncture, support your liver, your gallbladder, your spleen, your kidneys, your small intestine, your large intestine, your colon, get a checkup with the pulses because that’s going to tell the acupuncturist, the state of your energetic health. And by doing some acupuncture, you can rebalance those meridians. So there’s more of an equal distribution of energy and flow within your eyes in your body. Number two, it’s important that you attain and maintain your ideal weight. If you start put
Charles Bonnet Syndrome
Charles Bonnet Syndrome is a condition that’s triggered by vision deterioration that causes visual hallucinations. It isn’t well known and can be hard to diagnose, so we are going to look deeper into this eye disease today. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. SUMMARY KEYWORDS eye, vision, macular degeneration, experiences, physical therapy, syndrome, talk, cataracts, charles, condition, exercises, retina, visual, heard, benet, visual hallucinations, glaucoma, suffering, hallucinations, physical Hello, everyone, it’s Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to my EyeClarity podcast. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I am taking a question from a listener who’s got a condition called the Charles Bonnet syndrome. The Charles Bonnet was a Swiss philosopher. And he first described this syndrome in 1760, in a publication, where he was talking about his grandfather, who was suffering visual hallucinations. And he was going blind, secondary to a cataract diagnosis. But it wasn’t until 1967, when George demore, CA, who was a Swiss scientist, he actually labeled the condition as the Charles Bonnet syndrome. So this is a condition that’s triggered by vision deterioration that cause visual hallucinations. Now, these are only visual, so you’re not hearing things, you’re not sensing things in your body. And this particular syndrome is directly related to deteriorating eyesight and vision. It’s not caused by a mental problem dementia, you know, from taking drugs, LSD, things like that. This is triggered by a vision deterioration. So what people experiences, they see things like grids, and shapes and lines, sometimes the colors are vivid. And there’s just complex patterns that come through the visual system. And they can last a few minutes or several hours. Sometimes they’re moving, sometimes they’re static. So in terms of vision loss, it’s very interesting, because with these visual hallucinations, many times they are related to eye diseases that people are experiencing. And with the Charles Bonnet syndrome, these are caused because of problems like macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye, myopia. So there’s a lot of reasons why we start getting these visual hallucinations. And what’s interesting about this condition is that it’s related to eye diseases. You know, whenever we have a change in the retina, for example, let’s say you’ve got diabetes. And one of the conditions that can occur in the retina is called diabetic retinopathy. So the retina either begins to hemorrhage, or edema is accumulating behind the retina. And when people are then trying to use their eyes, because of these physical deteriorations, they start to see these very weird things that come into their vision. And it can be very disconcerting, and disorienting. Sometimes it will happen when you close your eyes, and then you open them, or if you go from a light space to a dark space, or vice versa. Or it may even come from moving your eyes say when you’re reading. Now, when you go to your eye doctor, a lot of times you start experiencing, you know these certain Well, I could say hallucinations, but you know, you can explain this to your doctor. And unless he’s heard of the Charles Bonnet syndrome, he actually might think you have a mental problem. And it really is not a mental problem at all. It’s related to the physical changes that are occurring in the, you know, in the visual system. So this is where, you know, coming into my body of work because when a person is suffering, say, let’s just take macular degeneration, whether it’s the dry kind or the wet kind, it does create some distortion in your vision. You know, if you do the 05:01 Amsler grid, which is the grid you look at, when you have macular degeneration, many times, you’ll see either some of the grid disappearing, coming and going. That’s a visual field loss, or you see some distortions. And this is what we’re talking about in terms of seeing things in your vision that maybe you normally do not experience. And so it’s really important on a, a mental emotional level, to have some understanding that okay, this is the cause, these are the reasons why I am getting these hallucinations. And then to begin to do some of my integrative proactive methods. So like, for example, with macular degeneration, the combination of doing some physical high therapy exercises, and by the way, when you do physical therapy exercises, you are broadening your range

SUMMARY KEYWORDS macular, retina, zeaxanthin, important, vision, lutein, dystrophy, omega, acid xanthine, called, physical therapy, peripheral vision, macula, vitamin, fat-soluble vitamins, remember, eye, exercises, neutralize, health Hello, everyone, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity podcast. So today I’m going to take a question from a listener who’s got a condition called Best’s syndrome. And this is a macular dystrophy. It involves the part of the retina called the retinal pigment epithelium. And it leads to lesions that start to surface in the macula area. And then we know the macula is the center part of the retina. It’s where we see detail and color vision. So we call this condition best vitelliform macular dystrophy. And it’s a hereditary condition. It’s actually due to a mutation in the VMD two gene. And the mutation can only be transmitted by one patient, one parent. Without a family history of breast disease, about 25% of the best patients will have this genetic mutation. So it’s important to get genetic testing early. There are different stages of this macular dystrophy. So it’s important to get diagnosed early, we start to see this in children and you start to lose your sense of vision, your your visual acuity, and it can be very disconcerting. So here are some things that you can do to neutralize the deterioration of the best macular dystrophy, adding certain nutrients like lutein, zeaxanthin, acid Xanthine. These are Corrado noids that are very important to protect the macula. Remember, the macula is made up of cones. It’s the part of the retina that doesn’t get direct blood supply. And so it’s more vulnerable to things like ultraviolet light blue light, oxidative stress, inflammation. And so increasing your lutein, zeaxanthin and ask the Astra Xanthan are essential for slowing down this condition. 16 milligrams a day of lutein, six milligrams a day of Xanthine 12 milligrams a day of Astra Xanthine. You can also get the lutein and zeaxanthin through your colorful vegetables red, orange, yellow, green, and with acid Xanthine. You get that through a marine carotenoids. So that’s where salmon and you need to be careful about what you’re doing there in terms of what kind of salmon you’re getting. And, you know, making it as free as possible from heavy metal toxicities if you’re going to do seafood. Vitamin A is also very important and zinc helps in the absorption of vitamin A. And vitamin A, lutein, and zeaxanthin are fat-soluble vitamins. Where you either need to meet eat a meal where there’s some healthy fats, or supplement with omega-three fatty acids, or to make sure your liver gallbladder are working well remember the liver produces the bile and the gallbladder stores the bile and if you haven’t low bile, that’s going to affect your ability to absorb the fat-soluble vitamins like vitamin A important for the retina, lutein and zeaxanthin. Some other less well known nutrients. One is called vinpocetine vinpocetine. And this is from a Periwinkle plant. And it’s used as a cognitive protector anti aging agent, but it enhances blood flow. And I would probably add. Another one I would add would be gingko bilberry, these are things that help increase the retinal circulation, which is the name of the game. Now another one I like is L lysine, which is an essential amino acid. Our body cannot make lysine but it’s a very important building block for making proteins in the body. And it’s very important for retina health. Now the retina is about 50% fatty acids. So you want to make sure you’re getting 04:12 2020 500 milligrams a day of omega threes. Again, we don’t produce Omega three, and we tend to eat too much of omega six and not enough Omega three, Omega six would be things like olive oil. So omega three is really important for macular dystrophy and just eye health in general. And then finally, my eye exercises work really well. You know, when you’ve got a vision problem, when you start doing physical therapy, you’re creating new stimulation and accessing new parts of your vision. And in doing that, it opens up the brain and the eyes and the body in terms of your movement, your memory, your depth perception, your
How to Combat Screen Time

SUMMARY KEYWORDS bifocals, prescriptions, exercises, screen, blue blockers, repetitive movements, wear, focusing, lens, vision, peripheral vision, disrupting, eye, progressive lenses, relaxation, projects, computer, break, eye strain, day Hello, everyone, it’s Dr. I’m on the computer a lot during the day because I do. I work for a school district. So I’m on Zoom, probably six hours a day. And then the other four hours, I’m on the computer doing other projects. So I do have prescriptions. I have my blue blockers that I wear, even though they kind of look a little funny to some people. But people always ask me what they are. And they are convinced to get some because our eyes are strained and tired because they’re on the computer all the time as well. But I have my prescriptions that have bifocals in them. So what would you suggest? Because you were just mentioning that it’s maybe too strong. 00:49 Yeah. So you know, the bigger the window you look through in terms of the glass, the more peripheral vision you bring into it, and the more relaxation, so I don’t like to use bifocals prescribing them for digital screen time. And yes, you need to make sure you get a reduced prescription that’s calculated based on the distance you’re focusing. I have a lady right now, where we took her out of progressive lenses. She’s now wearing a single vision lens for her screen time and our eye strain went down about 80%. So I think you need to get out of the bifocal and into the single vision and maybe even incorporate the blue blockers in that as long as you don’t feel the weight is is bothering you. But it’s another filter. It’s another lens that you’re having to look through. When you’re doing you’re focusing. And I would build into the day, a lot of at least many breaks of doing some of these eye exercises. You know, people are asking how many times a day, I might do 234 times a day, even if it’s just for 30 seconds or a minute so that you’re disrupting the staring and the trance that we get into screen time because we’re making repetitive movements over and over again. And we need to break that pattern. And the way to do that is through the eye exercises. So again, we’re rejuvenating. And it’s again, it’s that idea of seeing and being seen, well there’s no way we’re being seen when we’re constantly in the doing mode with our exercises with our screen time. So we need to build in the exercises to balance that out. Thank you for listening. I hope you learned something from the EyeClarity podcast show today. So we’ve got an interview today, and I’m so excited. This is something I’ve been anticipating for a long time. This is Lesley Rubinoff. She is a certified holistic practitioner nutritionist. Talk about dynamic. Oh my goodness, she brands herself as the holistic bitch. And I want to say that with the utmost respect, and humility. Because what she does is inspire people to take back their health. And she’s got a really active social media, Instagram, Facebook, she’s also got a really kick-ass eCommerce site. And I’ll, I’ll get that URL to you. But in the meantime, let me give you a little more background about her. Lesley has worked globally, with her clients for the past 11 years, and she reaches more than 60,000 people daily. Her main goal is to educate, inspire and motivate others to live a clean life by promoting healthy and clean living choices. And she is a wealth of information. You know, we just off-air, we just had a conversation for a few minutes. And I learned so much. And so, Lesley, welcome to the program. How are you today? 01:49 I’m so great. And I’m so excited to be on your podcast. I remember the first time listening to you speak. And I was just like, Who is this person? He’s so smart, and so passionate and about something that so many people don’t even like to consider when it comes to our health, which is our eyes. So I was enamored and you know, really taken aback by your knowledge. And I’m so excited to be able to have this conversation with you. 02:16 Yes, thank you very much. So can you give us kind of, at the beginning, what your philosophy is, and I know you talk about functional foundational health? Share your perspective with my listeners. 02:35 So for me, as a holistic practitioner, and nutritionist, I think, what I learned and the biggest lesson I took back from what I was studying was the general consensus to healing is treating the symptom. So if something shows up, you’re in your skin like Exuma, we put a cream we put a steroid, you know you have a sinus, chronic sinus infection or a urine infection, you treat the symptoms. But why are those things reoccurring? Why are those things showing up? So as in my work, it’s about getting to the root cause. And that root cause is surrounded by several things. It’s physical, but it’s also the emotional component tied to disease. And I believe that there is every disease has an emotional component. And that is also something that is overlooked. I think that when we look at healing as a whole, we always have to look at the gut. And it’s become trendy, and it’s become a hot topic amongst health coaches. But I think there are very few. And when I say few, there could be hundreds of 1000s of practitioners who truly understand functional, foundational healing. And that to me, is what I pride myself in my work to make sure that when I am working with a
Benefits of Vitamin E
Today I want to talk about Vitamin E. You know, Vitamin E has been regarded as one of the most beneficial nutrients to support eye health. So joined me as we take a deeper look into how it works and how it can benefit your eye health. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. Further Notes on Vitamin E: Regarding eye health, vitamin E has long been regarded as a beneficial nutrient to support eye health and was included in the original Age‐Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) and in AREDS2, which also examined other antioxidants, such as lutein and zeaxanthin. AREDS investigated only alpha‐tocopherol, but newer studies suggest that tocotrienols warrant dedicated research. Owing to inhibition of angiogenesis, tocotrienols may have application in improving ocular conditions related to abnormal neovascularization, such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Tocotrienol is a potent anti‐angiogenic agent, with delta‐tocotrienol being the most effective.1, 2 As a powerful antioxidant, tocotrienol accumulates in the eye to combat cataract development, among the most common eye problems in the aging population.3 Rodent models show that tocotrienol administration delayed the onset and progression of cataracts by reducing lenticular oxidative and nitrosative stress,4 and in diabetic rats, tocotrienol application arrested cataract progression and restored lens transparency to normal.5 (It should be noted, however, that these studies used topically applied tocotrienols through eye drops. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam and I want to welcome you to another EyeClarity Podcast. Today I want to talk briefly about vitamin E. You know, Vitamin E has been regarded as one of the most beneficial nutrients to support eye health. And you may recall, it was one of the featured antioxidants that were included in the original age-related Eye Disease study better known as the errands and the Eretz. To study. This was these were studies that were organized by the National Institutes of Health and they were looking at how these antioxidants like lutein and zeaxanthin could reduce the risk of developing not only macular degeneration but also other retina issues. So in the arid study, the investigation with the vitamin E was with a form of vitamin E. That was the Alpha tocopheryl. And this alpha-tocopherol was the vitamin E that was promoted after the arid study came out. One of the things that I like to do is I comb the journals for research. And in looking at some of the newer studies that have come out recently, they suggest that this form of vitamin E needed more research because one of the keys is not only using vitamin E, but other antioxidants are the problem we run into called angiogenesis. What angiogenesis is basically abnormal blood vessels that start to surface in the retina, especially in conditions like macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy? So, the Toka tree Nalls which is a newer form of this vitamin E has been shown to be a potent anti-angiogenic agent. And the tocotrienol, which is the new form of vitamin E has been shown to be a powerful antioxidant. Also in cataract development. Some animal studies have shown that tocotrienol administration actually delayed the onset and progression of cataracts by reducing oxidative stress in the lens of the eye. And this also stopped the cataract per regression and restored the lens to its normal transparency. Now we can get vitam
Get a Prescription that Supports Your Eyes
As I began to learn more about the holistic approach to eye care and worked with teachers in developmental optometry. They taught me how to prescribe lenses in a way that would help people improve their vision. One of the principles that they taught me, which works very well, is to actually wear the same power of the lens in each eye, even if one is slightly blurrier. So today, I am walking you through that process so you can work with your eyes instead of just fixing the symptoms. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. SUMMARY KEYWORDS eye, prescription, wear, lenses, vision, left, double, quarter, blurrier, contacts, nearsighted, optometrists, number, technique, creates, muscles, balancing, closer, lens, practice Hello, everyone, it’s Dr. And then there’s kind of more radical philosophy. In addition to the contacts, which would be and I learned this from my teachers, they were I had, I had about five holistic, they were called developmental optometrists. When I was, in my first years of practice, I grew up on the East Coast. And so I began my first practice in Philadelphia, and I used to go up to Connecticut, and there were like five eye doctors, and they were in their 70s. And they taught me how to prescribe lenses in a way that would help people improve their vision. And one of the principles that they taught me, which works very well, is to actually wear the same power of the lens in each eye, even if one is slightly blurrier. Because when you wear the same lenses, it tells your brain and eyes to start integrating more like, it’s like, it’s like a Natural Vision exercise, it says, Okay, I’m meeting a quarter in my right, I’m seven and quarter in the left. So that means my right eye is focusing a little closer than my left eye needs more of my prescription, what if I gave both eyes minus seven and a quarter? Now my right eye is got to kind of match the left eye. And time and time again, when I started to do that, people would come back and say, Wow, this feels so much more relaxing, I’m not getting the eye strain. And the other thing about that is because you’re at eight and a quarter, and seven and a quarter, or 950, and 850, you’re in a natural double vision setup because the right eye is focusing at a closer focal distance than the left eye, you could, you could figure that out by holding a target. And with each eye separately, you probably have to hold the object closer to your right eye to get it clear, whereas the left eye is slightly farther away. So that’s already creating an inherent double doubling. So and then, you know, you’re overriding that, but then you get hit as you did. And that kind of creates this, this, you know, a trauma in the muscles in the eyes. So it’s harder for you to kind of muscle it and keep it together and whatever. So my, my proposal, my proposal would be in the realm of saying, Well, what if, what if we got you a prescription in contact lenses, that would be the same in each eye soft lens. And also the number, you know, like, when it’s eight and a quarter and glasses, it’s going to be less of a number because it’s closer to the eye. But on top of that, one of the techniques that worked really, really well for me, and I again, use it quite frequently with people that are nearsighted is I actually have them wear a prescription that corrects them more for computer or reading. So it’s a, it’s a reduced prescription, that still gives them some clarity, but it’s not as tight or as strong as the distance prescription. And so, you know, I might think about saying, well, let’s do 675 Get you a pair of those you can get in the soft lens world, you can get these disposable contacts, and they don’t cost very much. And then maybe get you a second prescription that’s like in the minus six, realm six in each eye. Now, I would say to start off the 675, you’re probably not going to have any problems using those for driving or whatever. But even so, I would just start, say, you know, in your house, you know, in a nondemanding situation just to get used to, it’s going to be greater vision, you’re going to have a lot more periphery. And this, this balancing between your right eye and left eye, it may take a little bit of adjustment, although my prediction is that you’re probably gonna go wow, this is pretty cool. I can wear the same lens in each eye. And then you could get the minus six, I’ll give you the prescription for both. And then with a minus six, you co
Using Your Eyes and Brain Together
I’m involved a lot with the autistic to ADD spectrum disorder community, I actually consult at a place called Kidpower. This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Hey everybody, it’s Dr. Sam. So I’m involved a lot with the autistic to ADD spectrum disorder community, I actually consult at a place called Kidpower. And this is, an amazing place where occupational therapists offer many different modalities to help these kids grow and evolve. And I’ve been, I’ve been involved with Kidpower for, oh, my goodness, 15-20 years maybe. And recently, I was giving a presentation on the exercise that helps improve our three-dimensional vision. And 3d vision is so important because it helps us with our ability to make decisions to problem solve to see more deeply into situations. And when our two eyes are working together, we’re more easily triggered, or more fatigued, our concentration is less our balances less, and our memory is reduced. And you know, most eye exams, they don’t necessarily test, three-dimensional vision. In fact, what we’re doing in an eye exam is we’re testing the eye chart, and we’re looking at your eye health. And it’s usually a 10-minute experience, and you’re out the door, and the next person comes. So in this particular short presentation, I talked about a machine called the vector gram. And the vector gram is a 3d slide you put on some polarized glasses similar to if you went to the movies, and you were given 3d glasses, and you could see the film in 3d. Now. For many people, they aren’t using their two eyes together. And unless you test for it, you have no idea that your two eyes are working together. And so some of the symptoms people will experience would be, I feel cloudy, I’m not able to focus. I follow a lot, you know, my memories kind of going. And when you do this kind of test. So the one that I’m explaining to the people at Kidpower. There are a lot of things that we talk about in terms of spatial reasoning, and spatial decision making. And then my physical therapy program, we focus on helping people regain their buying ocular vision. So there’s more stability, there’s more resiliency, and there’s more flexibility in using our two eyes and brain together. And it isn’t just the eyes. And it isn’t just the brain. But it’s both of them together. So I want you to enjoy the presentation, I wanted to give you a little context before we play this clip. And like always, I want to thank you for tuning in. Here we go. So the vector grams is a powerful tool, both in diagnosis and treatment. From a diagnostic point of view, when you put a person on the vector gram, you’re going to pretty quickly discover if they have an ocular vision, depth perception, and suppression. And also, the other thing about the vector gram is that when you put a person on it, and you ask them in an open-ended way, what do you see? And what might you feel? 04:12 Their answers are going to really tell you a lot about where they’re at in terms of their spatial decision meaning-making. And there was a research study that was done several years ago by a developmental optometrist. Harry wax is one of my mentors. And what Dr. Wax did is he measured people’s IQ. These were children. He measured their IQ, and then he put them on the vector gram. And then he did vision therapy with them for six weeks, and then he re-measured their vector gram and their IQ and he found that the kids who saw better depth perception jumped in their IQ scores from five to 10 points. So they increased. So the bottom line is, is that the better the spatial reasoning, the better the problem solving, and the deeper a person can go into being able to look at complex things and being able to solve them. If you’re in a suppression, or you see the world as flat, then your ability to see solutions to problems, whether it’s body-centered movements, or cognitive, vestibular doesn’t matter. The better the 3d vision, the bett

Today, I want to share three inspiring case histories. And in doing this, it may give you some inspiration and hope. And so here we go. This is patient number one. And this is a gal who I met when I was teaching a month long program at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California. I was on the faculty at SLN, for about seven years, and I started off teaching the staff and the the interest in what I was teaching really grew to the point where I was then offered to be able to teach something called the legacy program, this is a month long program where people would come and pay. And they would be residents of SLN. So they would work on the grounds during the day. And then they would take healing classes and there would be two teachers per month, who would offer you know, their healing modality, whether it be nonviolent communication, or you know how to become better at acting or creativity. Of course, mine was how to improve your eyesight and vision. And this was the first year that I taught the legacy program. And the first night when we got together, we got a big circle, there must have been about 25 people in my class, and you get them for the month. So you you have to design different, you know, different processes when you meet every night. And then there’s a halfway point where you actually do a one day intensive during the day so that every other everybody gets, you know, the day off from their daily activities and routines and work commitments. So we were sharing in the circle, and there was a woman who had a patch on. And I said well, that’s very interesting. So we got to her and she said, Well, I was in a car accident about 12 years ago. And I really hurt my I went to a number of AI specialists. And nobody seemed to be able to help me. And the last doctor I went to said the best thing that you could do would just be to wear the patch full time. And that was about 12 years ago. So I went over to her and I sat down crossed to her and I said, Would you like to take that eyepatch off, she said, You know, I’m kind of afraid to do it. very self conscious. I haven’t taken it off in front of people in a very long time. So I said, Okay, you don’t have to take it off right now. But I’m going to give you the invitation that I want you to think about taking it off. And we’re going to do some different group processes to create some safety in this group so that you’re, you’re feeling safe. And about two nights later, we were doing a process. And I called on her and she said Alright, I’m ready to take the patch off. So she took the patch off. And that I was pretty much swollen shut. I mean, she could barely see out of it. And she said, Here I am. Wow, this is very scary. It’s very revealing. And a few days later, I gave her a private session and actually what was happening is part of the eyesight, the clarity started to come back. And you know, I gave her some color therapy and some other eye exercises to begin to introduce that, that I that had been bought behind the patch to come back to life. And at day 29 You know, we were down at the end of our our time together. We all got to share, you know what we learned? And so she said, you know, by having the permission to be able to take the patch off And to be told that actually I could improve this I was life changing for me. And, you know, we all just kind of gotten a circle, we hugged her. And, you know, anyways, we ended the program, I went back home. And I got a email from her about three months later, saying that her eyes were now balanced, that this eye that had been behind the iPads for 12 years, she had brought it back to life with my help, and with the group’s help. And to this day, we communicate on Instagram. And it’s always really uplifting to hear from her because she’s doing great. She got a job that she really likes, she found a relationship. And so the moral of the story on this one is that, 05:58 you know, when we’re told by the eye doctor, well, you’ve got this condition, and

So, in optics, there is a trend in the eye care field, which I’ve seen for many, many years, which is as follows. What the eye care field likes to do is like they like to give split lenses, maybe in what they call bifocals, or, in your case, it’s an invisible bifocal. So there’s a gradient. And I’m going to do a drawing here. And I’ll show it to you. And basically, the, the only part of the lens that’s usable This is, we call this like a progressive lens or a invisible bifocal, all of this is scratched out on the sides, you can’t use that lens, the only part of the lens that’s usable is this tiny sliver down the middle, now the top part is going to be distance, the middle part is going to be computer, and the bottom part is going to be reading. And as you go down the lens, there’s more magnification that they put into the lens, it is probably the single most detrimental optical system that you could look through, like if you wanted to say, how do I make my eyes worse, in an accelerated way, then where are those because whenever you split the vision into these different gradient parts, now your brain has to direct your eyes through that segment of the lens. So you’ve got to do that. And then on top of that you’re focusing say on the screen, or let’s say you’re driving even though none of us have for driving or not. But what it’s eliminating is the most important part in your vision, which is your peripheral vision. So when you put those progressive lenses on, you are actually going into a straitjacket with your eyes, there’s there’s just a real limitation and how much vision you can access. You basically have to tunnel your your eyes. So when you tunnel on a nervous system level, what you’re doing is your creating a an increase in your stress, both eyes stress and body stress to try to aim your eyes through these different compartments. And it is the most deteriorating aspect of why people’s vision goes downhill. It’s it’s a really, it’s a really accelerated way to lose your ability to see. 02:58 So in that case, you will just get two glasses, one for reading and one. 03:01 Well let’s go a little deeper here. Yeah, so you’re in a situation where you’re farsighted. So let’s let’s talk about that from a more holistic perspective. So in farsightedness most people that are farsighted, there are a couple of different definitions. One aspect of the farsightedness is those are people that see well in the distance, and they’re kind of visionary, they see the big picture. And when they start losing their muscular focus flexibility in the lenses of the eye, these are the tiny, they’re called ciliary muscles. That usually means that they’re losing their near vision so they reach for a magnification lens. Now when you reach for a magnification lens, what’s happening to the muscles is they’re losing their responsiveness. Because things are bigger things are, you know, there’s no effort on your part. But what it begins to do to the muscles is it makes them unresponsive and flaccid. And this is why when somebody starts wearing a magnification lens, and they wear it for a period of time and then they take it off and they go you know, I can’t restart my eye muscles. I’m not seeing 04:26 how it’s helped. It’s not that was not able 04:27 to refocus, right, you can’t refer back and forth. I couldn’t switch back exactly because of how it felt 04:34 because the the magnification shuts off and muscular responsiveness, so functionally, okay. So then at that point, usually when you go to, again, a regular eye exam, and I don’t know how these people work it I mean, in some offices, you sit behind a machine called a phoropter, which has got lots of lenses and that either technician of the doctor’s, you know, flipping the lens, which is clear, one or two, that would you had, okay. So you don’t really know, you know, it’s like, it’s this artificial environment, one or two, one or two, you know, and so you have no idea.

So today, I want to help you navigate the eye care system. So we’re going to take a few minutes, I’m going to talk about ways that first of all, you can find an eye doctor, that you can maybe be compatible with number two, how you can help your eye doctor help you in the best possible way. And number three, if in fact, you do need surgery, what’s the best way to navigate? Alright, so let’s go to number one, how to find an eye doctor? Well, you know, the best way to do that I think is first of all, go on Google, and type in holistic eye doctor. Now you may or may not get somebody in your area, you may not even get a holistic AI doctor, you may get a holistic naturopath or functional medicine doctor or a biological dentist. And so at this point, I would contact whatever comes up on the Google. And I would contact that office and ask them for a referral is there anybody they know. And maybe it isn’t quite a holistic II doctor, but somebody maybe who’s a little older, maybe who’s a little more gentle, little more middle of the road. It’s kind of hard to find holistic eye doctors, because in school, we’re not really trained to look at Vision holistically, only allopathic Lee, but many times there are doctors that at least are you know, they’re more reasonable in their attitude. And if you can find somebody like that, another way to do it is through your friends through your community to ask around, you know, who’s somebody that I have a holistic philosophy in my health, is there somebody that at least isn’t totally extreme, you know, that’s going to really, you know, just recommend surgery since I walk in the door. And there are doctors eye doctors out there like that. And that may be the best you can do in your area. So that would be number one. The number two, when you go for your eye exam, I recommend taking a friend or family member and have a certain intention or focus on what you want to achieve. It could be, you know, I want you to check my health. I want you to give me a prescription for my glasses if that’s what you need. But I don’t want you to overcorrect me. And the way you do that is when he starts flipping the lenses, feel it in your body, feel it in your eyes. And you’re wanting to stay as close to the current prescription as you can. And you know, you need to stand up for yourself here. And you need to say I don’t want a super strong prescription. And most of the time, even if they don’t believe in you, or believe what you’re saying, if you are committed, because you know, the stronger the prescription you get, the faster it is going to weaken your eyes. So you want to stay in the area of something that’s more in the middle so you don’t have something that’s so strong that you know it’s going to make you dizzy, nauseous, or give you headaches. All right. Now in addition to that, I would be very careful about going into things like progressive lenses, or bifocals. Especially if you haven’t done it before. You’re much better off getting two pairs of glasses, something for distance something for near. You want to stay away from things like mono vision, where they’re correcting one eye for distance, one eye for an ear. And you want to be conservative in what you’re wearing. You know these newfangled things that these these guys and gals want to prescribe. They end up in disaster. I mean, people come to me and they go, you know, I should have never gone down this road. I just had a guy yesterday. And he said, You know this is the busiest fanciest Ice Center in Santa Fe. And every time I come out of there, I get these glasses. I cannot see out of them. I keep going back and they just say get used to and I’ve gone to them three years in a row. I am fed up. And so for the exam what I did is I reduced his prescription by about 70% He tried it

This is a show that offers cutting-edge information on how to improve your vision and overall wellness through holistic methods. I so appreciate you spending part of your day with me. If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. Alright, so I want to at least talk to you about the physical eye therapy exercises. Okay? This is where you get into the habits with your eyes. Like what? And you know, even say habits, what do you mean? Like how your brain and your eyes interface. There are certain skills in vision. So vision is different than reading the eye chart. Reading part is I’m looking at a chart. That’s like your eyesight. But vision is this skill of how the eyes track an object. They focus, they change the focus with the muscles, the coordination of the eyes, how they work together, how well you’re able to destress your eyes. Because one of the problems that happens with people is they don’t know how to discharge the accumulated stress. I mean, our eyes are like a sponge. Absorb the environment they absorb. You know, so do you want to absorb stress? Or do you want to absorb therapeutic things? Right, so I’m just gonna go through a couple of possibilities. You don’t have to do this, but I’m going to at least mention it. Okay, so the eyeball has six muscles that move the eyes around. And for most of us, we stay in a very tunneled, you know, position, we’re not doing a lot of movement. So one of the exercise, basically using your thumb and kind of tracing something around the room. So let’s do this right now. 01:59 Okay, cover your left thigh. 02:02 Okay, your thumb, come out. And pick something like across the room, it could be a shelf, a cabinet, a painting a window, and trace your thumb around the object. By moving your thumb like the thumb is tracing the edge. Be aware of your breathing, be aware of your blinking, do it in one direction and then do it in the other direction, then let me know when you’re done. 02:35 Okay, okay, so you’re done. All right. 02:41 So what I’d like you to do now is take your hay and put your hand down the thumb. Okay? And then take your hand away from me from the other eye. And now look around and give me an 02:55 impression. 02:58 What you see what you feel, when you eat reintroduce the left eye after you’ve stretched the right eye? brighter, clearer, more peripheral. 03:10 Yeah, it is a little brighter, actually. Yeah. 03:13 So the key in having good vision is allowing light to come into the eyes. Cover an eye and you do that kind of stretching, and then you reintroduce the eye, you’re accessing something called neuroplasticity. 03:29 Okay. Yeah. 03:32 So you’re creating a new new track a new pathway now that the right eye has changed. And now the left eye has to make an adjustment. So more clarity, and more relaxation. And now let’s do the other eyes. So cover the right eye with your left thumb. Again, pick something out. Trace it around and each direction when you do it, be mindful. I’m breathing. I’m blinking so I’m not just holding my breath. And then let me know when you’re done 04:17 Oh, yeah, it’s a lot brighter. 04:20 brighter. Yeah. So that is a really easy way for you to bring more circulation and oxygenation by stretching the muscles each eye separately. So I’ll send you a video on this. It’s called the thumb game. And he basically just play with you could do it with clouds in the sky. You could do it, you know, just anything beyond, you know, 10 feet where you’re, you’re just doing this little tracing thing with each eye. 04:51 varying distances, your very 04:53 your distances. Because in farsightedness what happens is what you have is you’re losing your Your ability to focus at different distances. 05:01 Uh huh. 05:03 The multiplication lens makes everything bigger. So your mind goes, why bother? I’ll just use the magnification. 05:11 Uh huh. Okay, that’s good. So 05:16 that’s one. A second exercise is more of a focusing exercise where you’re using both eyes at the same time. And it’s a coordination exercise. So what I’m going to send you is a sheet of paper with 05:35 its four symbols. Well, two symbols, eight symbols to. Okay, so you look at 05:44 the top row, again, I’ll send you directions of video and the chart, you ho
How To Use Lemon Essential Oil
Today is all about Lemon Essential Oil. It’s a great starting place if you are looking to start using essential oils. I am going to cover the basics of how to use it and the amazing benefits of Lemon Essential Oil. Enjoy the show. If you want more, sign up for my newsletter at: www.drsamberne.com. SUMMARY KEYWORDS essential oils, lemon, aromatics, aromatherapy, oil, carrier oils, smell, drops, burns, skin, soles, organic, detoxification program, dirty socks, love, playing, attuned, put, mix, rose Hello, everyone, it’s Dr. Hey, everybody, its Dr. Sam, I’d like to welcome you to my EyeClarity podcast today. So I’m going to take one question. I’m so excited to talk about aromatherapy. You know, it’s one of my passions. I’ve been studying plant medicine for many, many years. And I want to focus in on lemon, lemon essential oil. So lemon is one of those essential oils that’s really versatile. But you have to be careful in how you use it. In fact, when you use any essential oils the first time, you need to introduce the oil to yourself in a very gentle and loving way. And that means what I like to do when I teach my classes, I recommend that you smell the oil first you get an aroma, it goes in through your olfactory system to the Olympic system, you’re gonna get an immediate yes or no. So if I had rose oil, for example, you’d smell that for most people, it associates to the rose flower, it’s hard opening. Whereas there’s another essential oil I use called spike in art. And it smells like dirty socks, even though it’s a very shamanic essential oil, you can use it in the dream world. It’s very relaxing. So you know, you have to introduce yourself and see, first of all, is it a yes or no. And so with the lemon, most people love lemon, you know, it’s a citrus. And so with lemon, you smell it first, you get that? That first introduction. And then I like to do a test pass patch on my arm. So I use it on the inside part of my wrist, no, the kind of below the wrist, it’s a skin area there that’s pretty well protected in the sense that if you put an oil on there, and it burns a little bit, no big deal, as opposed to say, putting it directly on your face, or, you know, private areas of your body where it burns. And believe me, I’ve done that. And it’s it’s painful for a minute or so. And then of course, it goes away. And by the way, if you ever put an essential oil on your on your skin, and it burns, you can immediately reduce the burning by using coconut oil. So that’s a trick that I learned when I was first learning about aromatherapy. And it’s it’s a great one for reducing or eliminating any burning from any essential oil. So with lemon, let’s say you’ve done test number one, you’ve smelled it’s good, you put it on the wrist area, the inside part of the arm, it’s all good. So the next thing would be to say where is the safe place to put it on the body. And I think you can put almost any essential oil on the soles of your feet. And so for adults, the dosage would be two to three drops of oil on either soul twice a day now with children, because I get this question a bit from parents because they love the essential oils. And actually kids actually love these essential oils even more, because they’re very connected to plants. You know, they’re out in nature, they’re playing hopefully not, not on their digital screen time, too much, but they’re out there in nature and they’re they’re playing and they’re so they’re more attuned to nature, so they’re going to be more attuned to most plant medicines, whether it’s homeopathy or herbs or essential oils. So with them, if you’re doing adults say, two to four drops with kids, I would start with one drop. And the younger the child, of course, the less oil the more sensitive it’s going to be. So what are the benefits of lemon? So first of all, lemon is antibacterial, it’s antifungal. Lemon also supports the liver, the spleen, the kidney. It’s actually a detoxification agent. So if you’re doing a gentle detox, you can add lemon to your detoxification program. Again, always on the soles of the feet. Another thing I love about lemon is that it’s emotionally uplifting. You’re going to feel better you’re going to feel up. So let’s say you know you’re having a down day, little lemon goes a long way in terms of giving you that emotional boost. 04:29 So the last question that I

If you have questions, you can send them to [email protected]. Now to the latest EyeClarity episode. We’re gonna play a little game. And the game is, I want you to cover your left eye with your left hand. And I want you to look above the screen. I just want you to look out in the room. Just look around, and we’re going to talk to the right, I am going to ask your right eye some questions. So you don’t need to analyze just kind of, you know, give me the first answer that pops into your head. Right i How old do you feel right now? I really don’t know. Okay, all right. You feel old? You feel young? Do you feel ageless? Do you feel like that’s a stupid question. I have no idea. I never thought 00:45 I honestly Yeah. Like I don’t I don’t think about that. But I mean, right now looking around the room. Maybe? I don’t know. I guess it’s okay. I feel I’m like 30s Maybe 00:56 30s Okay, great. Second question. Right. I write I do you know that you’re married to the left? I? 01:05 Yes, definitely. Okay, and 01:07 how’s the marriage is about is a deep 01:10 work, but it’s not balanced. I do all the work. 01:14 Exactly. Right. You do all the work. So right. i What do you need that you’re not getting? Probably some rest. Honey, yeah. All right. So now you’re going to slowly take your hands away from your left eye. And I want you to give me some impressions. When you reintroduce the left eye like things look brighter, clearer. Whatever, when you reintroduce brighter. Okay, anything else? 01:51 I don’t know if they’re clear. Okay. It’s 01:54 brighter. That’s one, maybe more peripheral vision. You know, who knows? Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Now I want you to cover the right eye. Okay, okay. What’s your first impression when you cover the right eye? What’s what’s the first thing that shows up in your awareness? 02:15 very fuzzy, like, 02:17 very fuzzy. Okay, interesting. All right, so 02:19 I can see things but not 02:23 blurrier than the right eye. Okay. Left Eye? How old do you feel? 02:28 80 years old? 02:31 Yeah, wow, you’re old. Okay. And left eye? How’s the marriage to the right eye? 02:37 The right eye is great. I can’t do anything without it. 02:40 So is it balanced? Or does the right I do all the work? 02:43 does all the work. 02:47 Okay, and so left i What is your belief system about blurry vision? Like, what what is what is this blur mean to you? 03:03 Don’t know, 03:05 well is it is it means something is wrong? Something is bad? Or do you could you get hurt? Are you just you know, are you just withdrawn? You know what, what, what is? What is your? What is your meaning of blur of blur? Does it make you happy? Is it make you sad? 03:27 No, of course it makes me sad. I just feel that the eyes always been really incapable I kind of weak and not able to do 03:35 so left eye what happened to you that caused this was Did this happen in utero? Did it happen at birth? Why have you withdrawn from the world? You know, they’ve labeled you lazy. So what happened left? I 03:51 don’t know. I was born this way. 03:54 You were just born this way? No, no idea why? And so you’re kind of just living this out. Okay. All right. So you can take your hand away reintroduce the right eye and give me an impression when you reintroduce the right eye? 04:12 Yeah, everything’s clear. I can see again, you can see again, 04:15 okay. All right. So I want you to get this. This is a really important. I want you to start working with an eyepatch on a daily basis. And I want you to start dialoguing and talking to each of your eyes. And when you whenever you wear a patch, it disrupts your habitual relationship kind of wakes it up. And it’s a very different kind of exercise than what the traditional doctor says which he would say well have just patch the good eye, you know, labeling at the right eye for eight hours a day and force the left eye to work. No, that is probably the most traumatizing thing that one can do. In this particular technique, you’re only patching for maybe a minute or two. And you want to bring an internal connection to yourself whil

And so the moral of the story on this one is that, 05:58 you know, when we’re told by the eye doctor, well, you’ve got this condition, and ther

So today I wanted to talk about cacao. Another way to say cacao is dark chocolate, but it’s a special kind of dark chocolate. And cacao is one of those magical ingredients, nutrients, phytochemicals, that does so many positive things for the body. And I’ve been using a cow a long time researching it, traveling to different areas of the world, to learn about the cacao bean and meeting the farmers. And in looking at, well, what they tell me and then also what I look in the in the literature, the research, and in my personal experience, is that, you know, we think dark chocolate is bad for us. You know, we think of it as a guilty pleasure. But if you’re getting a high quality, cacao chocolate, and I’d like to do 80% or higher, it is packed with nutrients, it can improve your immune health. And it’s a very positive super nutrient that can really support your health and wellness. So a couple of things that this type of dark chocolate does is it actually supports cardiovascular health. Cacao has something in it called flavonols, which is a potent antioxidant. And it can lower your risk of cardiovascular disease. Cacao also is helpful for supporting specific kinds of bacteria, good bacteria that we find in the gut. So much is talked about with the microbiome, the healthy bacteria in our gut health. And for many people. gut health is a challenge. And I’ve talked about in many podcasts, written blogs, that if you have inflammation in your gut, you’re going to have a higher risk of eye disease, brain disease. And it’s it’s also affecting your immune health. So when you have the 80% Cow, this is supporting the microbiome in the gut. Number three, this type of dark chocolate can actually reduce your anxiety and stress. There have been studies done that show that participants in these studies when they receive this type of cacao 74% or higher in terms of percentage of cacao, and they eat it every day after two weeks, they found that the stress markers of cortisol and adrenaline had substantially decreased in their urine. This type of dark chocolate also activates healthy blood vessel health. So when we eat this type of cacao it’s supporting what we call anti angiogenic genic effects. So I talk about any angiogenesis in terms of macular degeneration, wet macular degeneration, high blood pressure retinopathy, diabetic retinopathy, all of these things begin to weaken the blood vessels in the retina and we call this angiogenesis. So what this dark chocolate does is it reduces that tendency For us to produce those fragile blood vessels which can lead to things like edema and bleeding and 05:09 loss of sight. And another part of the cacao conversation is that cacao helps provide DNA projection, I’m sorry, protection, and the antioxidant compounds found in dark chocolate, like the flavonols, like the poly phenols, support and repair our DNA, and they improve our regenerative abilities. Which brings me to the last piece of research is that cacao is a stem cell recruiting food. Sometimes scientists say that we have over 750,000 stem cells. And this helps our body regenerate every day. So that when you eat dark chocolate, it mobilizes your stem cells to carry out their job to the best of their ability. In fact, there was a study done at the University of California San Francisco, researchers found that participants who received a chocolate drink made with cacao twice a day for 30 days, had twice as many stem cells in their circulation as the control group. So when you think stem cells, you’re thinking about regenerating the body. So overall, I would look for a high quality, cacao based dark chocolate, there are a lot of them on the market. And if you start eating those, they’re going to really support your health. You know, I make a drink every every day and cacao or drink. Sometimes it’s a hot drink, sometimes it’s a cool drink. And I’m using the best cacao that I can find using part of a cacao chocolate b

So when he had a really good friend, who was her name was Charlie, and when he wanted to fix us up, but when he was a pa
