In today’s program, Tom will address the topic of “Psychology in the Church,” with special guests Martin and Deidre Bobgan of Psychoheresy Awareness Ministries. And now, TBC executive director, Tom McMahon.</p><p><br></p><p>Tom: Thanks, Gary. Well, today, as Gary mentioned, our topic is Psychology. More specifically psychological counseling, also referred to as “psychotherapy.”</p><p><br></p><p>We’re going to consider the influence it’s had upon evangelical Christianity, and there’s no one better suited with whom to discuss the subject, in my opinion, than with our guests, Martin and Deidre Bobgan. They are prolific writers, with close to…well, 21 titles to their credit, nearly all addressing the scriptural problems with psychological counseling, and, I might add, so-called biblical counseling.</p><p>First of all, Deidre, Martin, welcome to Search the Scriptures 24/7.</p><p><br></p><p>Martin: Thank you very much. <p>In today’s program, Tom is joined by Jim McCarthy to discuss “The Meaning of Discipleship.” Now, along with his guest, here’s TBC executive director Tom McMahon.</p><p><br></p><p>Tom: Thanks, Gary. As Gary mentioned, our topic for today is Discipleship. It’s a biblical educational practice and more that is so little implemented in today’s churches that few Christians, I’m concerned [know] what the term means.</p><p><br></p><p>Well, our guest, who is well qualified to tell us, is Jim McCarthy, the author of a number of books including The Gospel According to Rome, and John Calvin Goes to Berkeley. He’s also produced a terrific documentary entitled Catholicism: Crisis of Faith.</p><p><br></p>

As Gary mentioned, our topic for today is Discipleship. It’s a biblical educational practice and more that is so little implemented in today’s churches that few Christians, I’m concerned [know] what the term means.</p><p><br></p><p>Well, our guest, who is well qualified to tell us, is Jim McCarthy, the author of a number of books including The Gospel According to Rome, and John Calvin Goes to Berkeley. Well, this is the second part of our program in which we’re discussing—really, remembering a man who I call my best friend in the Lord. I’ve been working with Dave, taught by him, encouraged by him, for 35 years–20 years with The Berean Call, and…</p><p><br></p><p>Well, anyway, as we mentioned last week, that’s the bitter part of it in a bittersweet thing. The sweet part is, well, Dave is with the Lord. He’s in glory. And that’s not just some kind of “positive mental attitude” thing. That’s what the Scriptures teach, and that’s what we know. So we’re thrilled. Dave in his last couple of years had physical issues, and certainly, the warrior, God’s watchman on the wall, fought the good fight, but that took its toll on him physically in his last years.</p><p><br></p>

It has that mix because we’re going to talk about my best friend in the Lord, Dave Hunt, who went home to be with the Lord a week ago, that is, from the time we’re recording this program.</p>

<p>MATTHEW 2:16-18 Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.</p><p><br></p><p>MATTHEW 10:42 And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.</p><p><br></p><p>MATTHEW 18:1-4 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? Last week, Mark Dinsmore, a staff member here and a good friend in the Lord—as I said last week, Mark, I could spend the whole day talking about just what you contribute here, which I greatly appreciate. Last week, we discussed and we will discuss this week a movement in the church called the New Apostolic Reformation, which is…maybe some of you haven’t heard of it, but it is basically influencing millions…</p>

<p>JUDE 1:7 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.</p><p><br></p><p>REVELATION 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins [minds] and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.</p><p><br></p><p>REVELATION 18:4-6 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. <p>Our topic for today, as Gary mentioned, is the New Apostolic Reformation. Now, the title sounds impressive with terms like “apostolic” and “reformation,” but what does it all mean? Here to discuss that with me is TBC staff member, Mark Dinsmore, who does so many things here in the ministry that I could spend the entire program on his contributions to our publishing efforts, his design work for our book covers, newsletters, and of course his writing.</p><p><br></p>
