I end the show every week calling out the date and making sure I tell you that “I will never forget”...I hope that you will never forget…but the bottom line is, as time passes, and those of us who “lived it” begin to die off…it will ultimately become a moment in time only to be learned about or watched on YouTube or through researching and the reading online news articles from that time. My oldest was 4 months old…she doesn’t remember that…so her generation is really the first ones who don’t remember it happening live…which means the connection to that event dies with me…dies with you…dies with those who are old enough to remember that day and how it made you feel inside...SCARED, unsafe, threatened, wondering what is going to happen next…having gone through the pandemic and 9/11…from my end of things…you can’t compare them…so different! I was never “scared” or felt”unsafe” during the pandemic…maybe because I am a simpleton…maybe because the world was also going through it…who knows…but when September 11th happened…that was different. I am not foolish enough to think this won’t become like every other major event in U.S. history…one you just read about…but I lived this one…so I want people to know about it and never forget about what happened that day!So Friday you will hear my thoughts and my look back on that event, which at that time, was 11 years after the attack.Ready to make a “BEST OF” show all your own?? Blackstone is the name that the majority of people associate backyard griddle cooking with and it's also the brand leading the way when it comes to units sold! You might recall there were extensive renovations to Tom Lee Park recently and the MIM Festival this year evidentially did EXTENSIVE damage to the park...to the tune of $1.4 million dollars!!! The Memphis in May International Festival is being required to pay a little more than $675,000 to the Memphis River Parks Partnership to remedy those repairs and it's due on August 12th. Could this spell the end of MIM forever, will the event have to move to a new location next year and going forward, does MIM have $675,000 to pay out for those listed damages?? Back then we were talking about Yazoo’s winning the overall grand championship at the 2012 MIM…their 2nd overall world title at that point…and we also covered what all goes into this event. There is plenty of things that need to happen before the actual cooking starts so, if you aren’t familiar with what all is needed to get ready to cook, then you will want to check the show out on Friday. The EC's And I Guess Who will Be In The 2023 BBQ Hall Of Fame!
10:14 & 10:35pm: The 2nd hour tonight is all Embedded Correspondents All THE TIME! We start off in our usual way...answering a new round of "100% Assurity" questions. Then we will get to the heavy lifting! As you may (or may not) know, the list of 10 finalists for this year's BBQ HOF was released about 2 weeks ago. Tomorrow, the class of 2023 will be announced on The BBQ Central Show at 3pm Eastern. In advance of that, the EC's and I will review the list and come up with 4 people whom we feel will be put in tomorrow by those eligible to vote.
