So for the next few weeks, uh, probably through the end of September, it'll just be releases on Wednesday and then we'll pick back up in October. It may change just kind of depending on how everything goes because I'm going on vacation in September. So, uh, we'll just kind of play that by ear. But I just wanted to let you guys know that's what's going on. So there'll be no Monday episodes. Uh, through the end of September, but Wednesday episodes we'll continue as well as episodes releasing on the Autism Dad Ohio podcast as well. Those drop every Friday, so you guys make sure you can check that out as well. So you can always stay up to date by visiting theautismdad.com and, uh, there'll be up-to-date information there as well. So, uh, thank you all so much for tuning in. I really appreciate all the continued support and, uh, remember Wednesdays we'll be releasing and Mondays we'll be back. In end of September-ish. All right. Thanks a lot guys. We'll talk soon. Bye. S6 Ep 8The Truth About ABA Therapy (feat. Ashley Gibson-Stewart) S6E08
In this week's episode, I take on the controversial topic of ABA therapy. My guest, Ashley Gibson-Stewart, is a board-certified BCBA with a decade of experience. We validate what our autistic adult friends endured as kids in ABA therapy. At the same time, we talk about how much ABA has changed since then, what we’ve learned, and how it’s very different now. We can’t begin to heal what has been done in the past if we don’t first acknowledge it. What happened to our adult autistic friends back in the early days of ABA therapy was traumatizing and can never be allowed to happen again. We also must recognize how things have changed, and what kids experience now is very different. Presently, parents are not abusing their kids by utilizing ABA therapy. We can all work together to help make sure that we learn from the past and focus on what we need to do to heal and bring everyone together for the betterment of the many kids currently needing help to navigate life. About Ashley Gibson-Stewart: I am a BCBA and have been in the ABA field for over a decade. I have worked with individuals from 18 months old to 67 years old across all settings and environments. My passion is working with clients and their families to make impactful changes and improve their quality of life, however that looks for them. S5 Ep 45Inclusion and Neurodiversity in The Workplace (feat. Sunny Cash and Rose Hughes) S5E45
In this week's episode, my friends Rose and Sunny from Bened Life are here to discuss the importance of inclusion and neurodiversity in the workplace. We come at this from a couple of different perspectives with the goal of Guest Bio: Sunny Cash is the Community Director for Bened Life. She has over 10 years in the psychology and neurodiversity field. When she's not working on building a neuro-inclusive community, finding the best disability accommodations for her coworkers, or connecting with our amazing clients and partners, you can find her hiking with her partner and their German shorthaired pointer, Freya. Sunny was diagnosed as an adult with ADHD, which she believes gives her deep focus on her interests & community building. Human connection is her greatest passion, and she’s happily in a position where her neurodiversity is celebrated. LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sunny-cash/ Rose Hughes is a Neurodiversity and Disability Specialist. You might know her as @a.tint.of.rose on Instagram where she adventures life in its realist form with her house rabbit Missy, and Penguin, her emotional support/travel buddy cuddly toy. Rose describes herself as an open-minded gal who loves food, fitness, tourism, and animals (alpacas make her cry with happiness). The world of social media & community are special interests rivaled only by food – both eating and cooking it. She’s been known to watch movies only for their food scenes.
