The Art of Photography

I recently did a video on the DJI Phantom 3 Professional quadcopter that I've been using. I've had several people since ask me about the camera settings that I am using on the Phantom 3. Aerial photography and video work is similar to landscape in that you have a very wide dynamic range that you have to deal with. Its difficult to capture in digital format. The Phantom 3 features a Sony Exmor sensor… having said that it is a decent camera, but not incredible. There are some settings that you can use in the DJI Go app that will help with your footage considerably. I will explain these in this video. One of the impressive things about the Epson P600 is its handling of black and white images. There are 4 different black links inside the printer. Three of these inks work in combination to print over a wider dynamic range than just using one ink. There are two different blacks that are selectable depending on the paper you are using (1 for photo-gloss and 1 for matte finish). Note that switching between the blacks will use up a little bit of ink, but Epson has minimized this considerably. There was an extreme period of occult photography that was produced from the 1870's to about the 1930's. Gimmicks and techniques were used into fooling people that the supernatural was somehow being photographed (quite consistently I might add). This period of history can typically be organized into 3 categories: Photography of Spirits, Photography of Fluids and Photography of Mediums. I figured I'd go to the Leica Store for a visit during my last day in Los Angeles. Lightroom Mobile is quickly becoming one of Adobe's strongest offerings. The Creative Cloud 2015 Updates have been some of the most important CC updates that Adobe has released and mobile is a key part of this. Adobe have been working hard at how we use mobile and the integration with the desktop apps is probably the best that I've seen period. Richard Prince recently stirred up the photography/Instagram world when he controversially modified Instagram photographs as his latest work and sold them for upward of $90k a piece. Does this blow your mind? Possibly make you angry? Well get ready. In this video I’m going to give an overview of how the high-end art market works. The art market has become very attractive to investors in recent years for a variety of reasons. According to Bloomberg, this has snowballed into a global $54 Billion industry. Who are the artists? Who are the investors? How does this work? These are some of the questions I will try to answer in this video. The art market is rarely discussed in the media unless there is a lawsuit. I think that’s why its important to have this conversation. When it comes to huge money, very few of us understand how art as a business actually works.
