We're live at the Golf Clearance Outlet in Preston today, the latest store for them in their quest to take over the world, and it's a ripper. Nick is running late for the pod, he's been playing at Lonsdale Links in Victoria and has had a mad dash to get to the pod in time, thus his tardiness. Mark hasn't played Lonsdale Links, and given Nick was their all day as part of a left-handed day, he is the perfect person to give a snapshot of what he thought - and it's all positive. This is a fascinating bonus pod, we're at Flinders Golf Club overlooking the water, the waves, and of course the stunning golf course. And today we're going to learn about the course, it's history, some of the quirks of the course.We start by chatting with Andrew Kirby, who talks us through why he loves Flinders and why the course is so special. He says the views are better than Pebble Beach. There are also deep links between Flinders and Royal Melbourne, which we hear all about.Nick likens the view to the Monterey Peninsula, saying you could almost be there. Nick asks Andrew about the legendary Peter Thomson's history with Flinders, and Andrew explains the origins of that.Mark then brings up the trees. Of course he does. The beautiful Cypress trees. They may be imported, but they're now part of the fabric and they serve a very practical purpose at Flinders, which we hear about.Nick says Flinders has a great collection of Par 3's, and that the 12th hole - called Aunt Sally - is a particularly tough one. The names of the holes are full of character, and Andrew tells us about a plan, years ago, to remove a couple of the holes and the protests that occurred at the time. One of the holes is called the 'Coffin Hole', and we find out how that name came about.After the turn we chat to club captain Phil Hurley about the course renovation and the thoughts behind that, and how important it is to retain the magic of the course. Phil says that it has proven to be extremely hard to break par at Flinders, and that few do. After a massive weekend of golf with the Presidents Cup terrible, then great, then underwhelming, we're emotionally drained. But, not drained enough that we didn't want to get together to analyse everything that happened.Through this bonus pod we run through each day's scores and what happened.Nick and Mark were both pissed after day one, but excited after day two. Big news this week with Nick O'Hern snagging an Ace last week in the Wagga Pro-Am, we start the show by finding out what happened. A fascinating bonus pod today. This week we kick off with Nick and Mark discussing the Scheffler/Rory McIlroy vs Koepka/DeChambeau, Mark is excited about the prospect, Nick will watch the highlights.We chat about the first couple of LIV tournaments next year, Adelaide is second and Riyadh is first....unhelpfully none of us know where Riyadh is or how to spell it...so we muddle through and figure it out together.Nick and Mark discuss the Presidents Cup teams, and Nick believes there are some players harshly done by - Cam Davis the obvious one for him. Nick and Mark are amped over last weeks Cam Smith news that he will be playing the NSW Open at Murray Downs in November, so much so that we start the show by calling Golf NSW COO Graeme Phillipson to ask him how it happened, and how Golf NSW pulled off such a fantastic get. Great chat, and some fantastic insights into the process, and what it now means for the NSW Open.We discuss the Fedex Cup final round, and the win (sort of) by Scottie Scheffler. Mark is annoyed that one of the commentators described it as a wire to wire win when it clearly wasn't, Nick agrees. We discuss if it counts as a win given the way the final was structured. Gee the time difference to watch The Open Championship is a punish in Australia and New Zealand, specifically later in the day, but we got some in live and plenty of highlights....and what a tournament it was! Nick O'Hern and Mark Allen spend a bit of time unpacking some of the key moments.The weather played a role, as we expect it will in this tournament, but Mark feels it was perfect to test the players. And Nick and Mark discuss whether the pros should play more Links golf than they do, given the uniqueness of these courses. Mark loves the 18th hole at Royal Troon, not everyone does.Jason Day's outfit. Again, he stood out. Nick runs through all the Aussie & Kiwi results - Adam Scott the strongest at T10, with Daniel Hillier from New Zealand having a strong tournament as well at T19.Nick and Mark discuss the role that the wind plays at Royal Troon, and how the locals have a distinct advantage, and what the visiting players can do about it. Nick and Mark both talk about the Open Championships that they played in respectively.Xander. A fantastic performance, a well deserved win. How many majors can he win? Another big week in golf and Nick O'Hern and Mark Allen are all over it.We start by discussing Keegan Bradley's appointment as the captain of the US Ryder Cup team, an appointment which took us all by surprise. But we quickly move on to Steph Kyriacou's performance in the Evian, she did so well and nearly won her first major but just fell a little short to a fast finishing Ayaka Furue.Mark loves Ludvig Åberg but wasn't over the moon with his performance at the weekend. On the positive side, Mark feels his Ludvig betting strategy is in good shape. And what a win for Bobby MacIntyre in the Scottish Open at the weekend, beating our own Adam Scott by one. Nick and Mark chat about the 16th hole. So good.Mark asks Nick why metal spikes are still allowed. He has a theory.Huge news out of Melbourne with Metropolitan and Huntingdale looking at a merger proposal. Nick and Mark both rate the move, which has been a long time coming, and decide on the fly to arrange a bonus pod with the respective club captains. Mark gets straight on the phone at the turn and fires off texts everywhere to arrange it....which results in SMS replies coming in throughout the second half of the pod!
