While volunteering at a breast cancer charity, Liz met and became friends with Sarah, who told Liz she had terminal cancer. Sarah soon became obsessed with Liz, messaging up to 200 times a day, showing up for unannounced visits, and even moving in with Liz's parents at one point. When Liz and her husband Brian began to unravel Sarah's lies they realized they were being stalked. Lily Baldwin was stalked for over thirteen years by a man who became obsessed with her while she toured as a backup dancer. It started with emails, then calls, notes, and gifts in the mail - until he came to the United States looking for her. Lily hired a legal firm and sent him a cease and desist letter to stop contacting her, but it was ignored. Daniel is being stalked by a man he met on the dating app, Grindr. Although there was no romantic chemistry, they decided to remain friends. When Daniel was having financial problems, his new friend offered to help him out, even letting Daniel live with him to help him save money. After he moved in, Daniel was regularly questioned about his whereabouts, and his friend started drama within Daniel's friend group to isolate him. As the situation escalated, Daniel was sexually propositioned in person, over text, and through social media by his friend turned stalker. His stalker exposed himself to Daniel and played loud pornography from his room. When Daniel confronted him, he invited multiple men over and made sure Daniel could hear them having sex. Fiona was stalked for nearly a decade by a man who created a fantasy world about her online. While working at a local restaurant, Fiona served a customer who's constant stare made her uncomfortable. She noticed him frequently pass by the windows of the restaurant to see if she was there. They lived in the same neighborhood and shared some of the same friends, but he started turning up at the neighborhood cafe whenever Fiona was there. Fiona uncovered a delusional online blog about her life - describing her neighborhood, her instagram posts, and her personal details. The relationship escalated quickly and before long, the woman who would become Emily's stalker showed up to Emily's home with alcohol and became physically and sexually aggressive. When Emily told her they should take some space, the woman began love bombing her to win her back before her behavior once again turned dangerous. She ignored her coworker's advances when he began leaving her notes asking her out. Soon after, Heather's wallet went missing from her break room locker, her bank account was depleted, and credit cards and loans were being opened in her name. She found out he was impersonating her online and spreading rumors about her to her family and friends. She turned to the police who told her that being a pretty girl these things were bound to happen and that she probably "smiled at him too much." When her stalker engaged in a dangerous car chase and ran her off the road, the police got involved. During the investigation Heather discovered that he was a sexual predator who sexually assaulted his two daughters. During an audition, Grace had a brief encounter with an assistant casting director who later approached her about hosting a TV show. When Amber asked her boyfriend for space he accused her of cheating and became manipulative and angry. During the relationship he prevented her from leaving her house, verbally abused her, threw a coffee pot at her, threatened suicide, and even jumped out of her moving car. He was diagnosed with a personality disorder and Amber petitioned for his hospitalization but instead, he called 911 on her claiming she was suicidal. He left her voicemails telling her to kill herself, and also pleaded to meet him in person for closure. Tam was stalked by a man who's been serial stalking and abusing women since he was seventeen. After Tam began dating a guy she met on Tinder, he slowly revealed details of his violent past. He explained they were mistakes of his youth so Tam gave him the benefit of the doubt...until he became violent and their relationship turned toxic. After she left him, he called and texted hundreds of times, threatening her and posting private photos of her online. Tam filed a personal protection order (PPO) and learned about his criminal history including multiple charges, probation violations, PPO violations, physical violence, threats, and stalking. Tam created an online support group with her stalker's other survivors to share notes, FOIA requests, criminal records, police reports and became close friends with another survivor who will share her story in Serial Stalker: Chapter Two. After moving back into her mother's house, Katie noticed a man sitting on a fence outside her bedroom window. Over the next few nights she noticed her dog's water bowl was tipped over, her dog limping, and 8:48 was written on a backyard play-set - which was the exact time she arrived home the night before.
