February 26, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 97 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing all that Pittsburgh Steelers GM Omar Khan had to see during his numerous interviews that took place on Tuesday at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine. Khan was asked to answer several questions concerning various topics on Tuesday, so Alex and I pour over the most important responses he gave. We discuss Khan's responses to the quarterback situation, WR George Pickens moving forward, a possible contract extension for OLB T.J. Watt as well as the current health of several players. We also talk about the Steelers' expected free agency plans based on what Khan said Tuesday. T Broderick Jones playing left tackle in 2025 is also discussed. After spending a lot of time on Khan's Tuesday media rounds, Alex and I discuss the possibility of the Steelers adding a prominent offensive lineman in free agency this offseason based off of a Tuesday report on a podcast by Brian Baldinger of the NFL Network. The NFLPA release their annual NFL Team Report Cards on Tuesday midway through our Wednesday show, so Alex and I go over where the Steelers rank in the various categories. We spend a lot of time discussing Steelers owner Art Rooney II ranking 29th overall in the Ownership category of the NFLPA report card. February 24, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 96 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to the Pittsburgh Steelers signing free agent TE Donald Parham Jr. to a one-year contract over the weekend. We go over what kind of player Parham is and his chances of making the Steelers' 53-man roster this offseason. We also discuss the details related to his one-year contract as well. There's been a lot of buzz concerning Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford the last several weeks, so Alex and I discuss the possibility of him landing in Pittsburgh via a trade in the next few weeks. We discuss how intriguing it would be to see Stafford in a Steelers' uniform and if we both ultimately think he winds up being traded by the Rams. Steelers GM Omar Khan will make his usual media rounds at that annual NFL Scouting Combine this week, so Alex and I discuss several topics he might be asked to discuss. We go over a few questions we would like Khan to be asked in the coming days and if we'll get any usable information out of him while he is at the combine. Alex and I will have plenty to talk about this week with the Scouting Combine getting underway and so we discuss several position groups and individual players we look forward to watching over the course of the next several days. Will the Steelers sign a cornerback or two in free agency this offseason? The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers' Supposed Interest In Chubb, 2025 RB Draft Class, Cap News, Free Agent Spending & More
February 21, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 95 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Friday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I go all over the place with our discussions and down several crazy rabbit holes. We start this show with a quick conversation about an NFL Pro Bowl or All-Star game that could come close to rivaling what the NHL just did with their 2025 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament. The Pittsburgh Steelers reportedly have some level of interest in signing Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb this offseason so Alex and I discuss whether that would be a smart move. We discuss the fungibility of the running back position, the valuer of Chubb within that, as well as the 2025 draft class at the position. We discuss the probability of the Steelers drafting a running back this year in the first two rounds. We now have a range for the NFL's 2025 salary cap number as of Wednesday, so Alex and I go over that news. We also discuss what that range means for the Steelers. Alex and I also discuss cap and cash differences in this show and how both relate to the Steelers this offseason. How active will the Steelers be this offseason in signing outside free agents? Alex and I work through an exercise of free agent needs by position groups as it relates to possible number of players ultimately signed with APYs greater than $10 million. We discuss whether Steelers' fans might be expecting too much this offseason when it comes to higher quality, and thus more expensive, outside free agent additions. Does Steelers WR George Pickens need a veteran mentor in the wide receiver room this offseason? Also, should Pickens really be expecting to get a top five wide receiver contract this offseason? Alex and I have discussions about those two questions. Should the Steelers get in a hurry this offseason when it comes to them signing OLB T.J. Watt to a contract extension? Alex and I have a discussion about that question during this show as well. This 118-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. We also answer a few more listener questions at the end of this episode and those create a little more discussion to boot. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers' 2025 Salary Cap Update, Ogunjobi Decision, Warren RFA Tender Options & More
February 19, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 94 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers recent hiring of Scott McCurley to be the team’s new coach for the inside linebackers. Alex recaps why it is that he’s a bit underwhelmed by the hiring and much more. We also discuss how it looks like the Steelers' 2025 coaching staff is now set. The Steelers recently terminated the contract of OLB Preston Smith so Alex and I go over that expected transaction. We briefly discuss the salary cap savings the move produced, what is likely next for Smith, and if he could possibly return to Pittsburgh later in the offseason. On the heels of Smith being jettisoned, Alex and I go over the Steelers 2025 salary cap situation as of Tuesday night. We also discuss the effective salary cap space the Steelers have based on forthcoming costs as well as a cash spending outlook for the team. The Steelers will need to decide if DT Larry Ogunjobi will stay on the roster by March 15 as that is when he is due a $3 million roster bonus. With that big decision forthcoming, Alex and I discuss the pros and cons of releasing Ogunjobi and everything that should go into that decision-making process. The Steelers are likely to give a restricted free agent tender to RB Jaylen Warren in the next three weeks, so Alex and I go over the two main options related to that forthcoming decision. We discuss the pros and cons of giving Warren just a right-of-first-refusal restricted tender and the possibility of the team signing the running back to a contract extension at any point during the offseason. We also discuss key dates related to restricted tendering during the offseason. There's been a few more quarterback rumors this past week that have included the Steelers with the main one centered around Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence. We briefly discuss how nothing related to Lawrence possibly landing in Pittsburgh via a trade this offseason makes sense. This 97-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap as well. We also answer a few more listener questions at the end of this episode and those create a little more discussion to boot. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Ep 44The Depot Dive - Episode 44 - February 18, 2025
Feb. 18 – Ep. 44: On this episode of The Depot Dive, Joe Clark and I talk about Mike Tomlin's influence on avoiding the middle of the field on offense based on a discussion from Steelers insider Mark Kaboly on 93.7 the Fan. We weigh in with our thoughts on how much autonomy Arthur Smith has over the offense, and whether it's a quarterback issue with the Steelers not having a top passer in quite some time. We then discuss the running back room and whether or not we think the Steelers will retain Najee Harris. If they don't will they come to regret it like many of the 2024 FA running backs last year? We discuss the deep running back class and many other related topics. For the final topic, we dive into a report that Justin Fields is intrigued by the New York Jets' roster and there could be some mutual interest there. Could it be difficult to lure him back, and could his interest from other teams push them back to Russell Wilson? We discuss all of that and more. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing Super Bowl LIX that resulted in the Philadelphia Eagles essentially blowing out the Kansas City Chiefs. We go over the key takeaways from that Super Bowl and how the Eagles easily disposed of the Chiefs. Were there any big lessons the Pittsburgh Steelers can learn from the Eagles' 2024 season? Should Steelers' fans be optimistic based on the Eagles' Super Bowl win? We dive into that conversation some on the heels of the 2024 season now officially over with. We go over the ANY/A stats from the 2024 regular season and how they relate to the Eagles being Super Bowl champions this year. The Steelers are reportedly adding DB coach Gerald Alexander back to the staff as of this weekend, so Alex and I make sure to go over that news. Could and should the Steelers trade for San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel this offseason? Alex and I look at his situation, his contract, and the plausibility of the Steelers trading for him. The Steelers are once again being linked to QB Aaron Rodgers now that it seems as though his time with the New York Jets might be over with. We also discuss the latest concerning Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford quite possibly being traded this offseason. A few reports from major media outlets concerning the possibility of QB Russell Wilson or QB Justin Fields re-signing with the Steelers surfaced on Super Bowl Sunday so Alex and I make sure to recap those. Alex thinks the Steelers should pursue Las Vegas Raiders CB Nate Hobbs in free agency and he lays out his reasoning for that during this show. Can Fields become the next Eagles QB Jalen Hurts if he re-signs with the Steelers? Alex and I make sure to address that topic in this show. That news was made official Friday morning so we discuss the speculated week that might happen as well as their likely opponent as we sit here in early February. The annual NFL Honors even took place on Thursday night so Alex and I discuss the players and coaches from the Steelers that received votes. We talk about how we both thought DT Cameron Heyward should have finished higher in the Comeback Player of the Year voting. We also discuss Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen edging out Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson for the Most Valuable Player of the Year award. The 2025 Pro Football Hall of Fame class was announced Thursday night and obviously no former Steelers are included in it. The immediate future of the Steelers when it comes to the quarterback position is an ongoing topic this week so Alex and I discuss the latest he said and she said when it comes to what beat writers and major media members are saying about QB Russell Wilson, QB Justin Fields, and even QB Matthew Stafford, who is still a member of the Los Angeles Rams. February 5, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 88 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers possibly trading for Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp this offseason now that it's know that he is on the market. We discuss whether Kupp fits with the Steelers, what Pittsburgh might be willing to give up for him, the contract issue, and if a trade is even worth pursuing. On Tuesday, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that Steelers OC Arthur Smith did not want QB Russell Wilson changing plays at the line of scrimmage during the latter portion of the 2024 regular season and how that supposedly caused some friction between the two. Alex and I thoroughly discuss Dulac's report and how more context certainly seems to be needed to speculate deeper on the supposed rift and if the two would be able to, or want to, work together moving forward should Wilson be re-signed this offseason. Alex released his first 2025 mock draft for the Steelers this week, so we quickly go over each of his selections later in this show. With our SD crew now back from the 2025 Shrine Bowl in Texas, Alex and I conduct a roundtable discussion with Joe Clark, Josh Carney, Melanie Friedlander, and Steven Pavelka. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the Pittsburgh Steelers now needing a new inside linebackers coach due to Aaron Curry being hired by the New York Jets. We discuss the job that curry did in his two seasons in Pittsburgh for starters. We also go over a lengthy list of potential candidates to replace Curry that Alex put together over the weekend. What will the depth chart of the Steelers inside linebackers look like in 2025 and could Cole Holcomb remain on the team as part of that group? Alex and I discuss those topics for a bit. Steelers QB Russell Wilson participated in the Pro Bowl Games over the weekend, and he gave a few interviews as part of that. We discuss what all Wilson had to say in those interviews as they relate to the Steelers and him possibly landing with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Raiders have hired Chip Kelly as their new offensive coordinator so we discuss how that could impact Wilson possibly landing in Las Vegas this offseason. Alex and I go over the potential top landing spots for Wilson this offseason and which three teams might be the favorites. Alex and I discuss the decision the Steelers have when it comes to resigning either Wilson or QB Justin Fields this offseason. We also discuss where both currently loosely rank league-wide when it comes to the quarterback position. During this show, we pass along the breaking news concerning Cleveland Browns DE Myles Garrett officially requesting a trade as well as the timing of it with this now being the week of the Super Bowl. We also discuss if and how things have changed since Art Rooney II took over for Dan Rooney. We discuss whether being added as a Pro Bowl alternate should count for anything when it comes to a player's career resume. Steelers team president Art Rooney II is making his annul media rounds this week to give his thoughts on the 2024 season as well as the future of the organization moving into the 2025 season. As usual, Rooney gave us quite a few talking points to parse. Alex and I go over what Rooney had to say about the quarterback position heading into the offseason. Is QB Justin Fields the apple of Rooney's eye this offseason? What about the possibility of the Steelers drafting a quarterback this year? We discuss everything related to that position based on comments Rooney recently made. We also discuss the positional needs for the offseason that Rooney hit on as well as his thoughts on his continued trust in HC Mike Tomlin. Rooney also discussed the size of the coaching staff, potential changes to the staff and how he thought OC Arthur Smith did in his first season in Pittsburgh. Rooney made it sound like OLB T.J. Watt will be extended this offseason, so we discuss that topic. We also discuss what Rooney said about WR George Pickens moving forward. We also go over it sounding like RB Najee Harris won't be back in 2025 and if the Steelers would dare think about drafting another running back in the first round again. We go over Rooney saying the team really didn’t learn anything from the drafting and subsequently failing of QB Kenny Pickett now that he's gone from the organization. Alex and I make sure to try to hit on everything relevant that Rooney said these last two days and most of this episode is dedicated to his media sessions this week. The Terrible Podcast — Talking Steelers Draft Prospects, Conference Championship Games, Minkah Fitzpatrick & More
January 27, 2025 - Season 15, Episode 84 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right to discussing the two NFL Conference Championship games that took place on Sunday that resulted in the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles set to play in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. We spend some time talking about what we learned from the final four teams in the 2024-2025 playoffs as it relates to the Pittsburgh Steelers moving forward and especially when it comes to the quarterback position. After discussing the several former Steelers players that will be on the two teams playing for this year's Super Bowl, Alex and I discuss the Steelers' process of attempting to land their next franchise quarterback at some point during a draft. Should the Steelers seriously consider trading S Minkah Fitzpatrick this offseason? That seems to be a topic right now with the offseason now underway, so Alex and I dive deep into a conversation related to that and the plausibility of it actually happening. Veteran QB Joe Flacco is being linked as a possibility for the Steelers this offseason, so Alex and I make sure to briefly hit on that topic. With both of the major college all-star game weeks underway, Alex and I have a few discussions about a few more players that we have studied. We talk about Nebraska DL Ty Robinson, Texas Tech RB Tahj Brooks, and even Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty. We go over the explosive run rates for the two running backs later in this show as well. This 102-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the recap. We make sure to get to a few listener emails later in this show as well. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
