Ep 1873Hound Dog Network - The History Of The Leopard Dog
Where did the Leopard Dog come from? That is a question we may never know the answer to. Were Leopard Dogs and Plotts crossed? While opinions differ, today’s author proposes that is exactly what happened. On the quest to make the best bear dogs in the land, there are lots of twist and turns. But to sculpt a masterpiece a sculptor must use a combination of the finest materials and the highest quality of tools. Building a bear dog is no different. It takes the keen eye of the sculptor to seek out the greatest raw material and then work his magic. Did Henry Plott have the same vision in mind for the Plott dogs? Did Henry Plott see the Leopard dogs as a vital piece of the Plott hounds we know and love today? Listen up ladies and gentlemen, class is in session. Ep 1869Pennsylvania Woodsman - Traditional Archery Knowledge Dump
Sometimes good things just take time. This week's episode of the Pennsylvania Woodsman is no exception, as this is a slightly longer conversation. Our guest is Cory Gulvas and we dive into the world of traditional archery. Cory's passion has driven him to competition level shooting, solely hunting with a recurve, and even bow building. In that time, Cory has faced nearly any obstacle that a new stickbow shooter could possibly experience. Take notes if you're a noob!Cory is often approached for advice, and typically finds people struggling with the same things repeatedly. We discuss getting into traditional archery for the correct reasons, choosing the best equipment to start, aiming methods, shot execution, target panic, and much more. If you've been struggling to figure out how to overcome many of these common issues when shooting a trad bow, your questions may be answered in this episode. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Ep 1870Hunt Detail - The Future of Cell Cam Apps
While cell cams will continue to evolve in size, picture quality and other specs, the greatest opportunity for differentiation within the market is the evolution of the app that accompanies the cell cam. Cell cam apps are now incorporating artificial intelligence, tagging of specific animals, and greater sorting features. But, what about all the other data that pics provide. That is where the real separation in the product category will happen next. The data collected from your fleet of cell cams will help you create a micro predictive deer movement model based on your property to help you allocated your time more effectively in the field. This is where cell cam apps are going and you should pay close attention to the companies that evolve this space accordingly. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Ep 1868Hound Dog Network - Gone To The Dogs – Summertime Blues
They’re here folks. The hot, sultry, dog days of summer, considered by the ancient Greeks to be connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs and bad luck. Hound hunters will agree with that Hellenistic view, adding mosquitos, poisonous snakes and humidity to the mix as they try to keep a hound in shape or to attend competitions at this time of year.Steve and Corey touch on track dogs and tree climbers in this episode from the front porch on a dog day afternoon. Steve has some pretty serious views on the subject of climbing trees when training hounds and offers a strong admonishment to those tempted to apply the method to their training regimen in a single word, don’t!Whether your drink of choice is sweet tea or a mint julep, pour a tall one and enjoy an hour or so with us, rocking to the Summertime blues Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Ep 1866Oklahoma Outdoors - Tribal Wildlife with Trenton Tissee
We have a very special episode this week on the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast. Native American Tribes have a rich history with Oklahoma's land and wildlife. Trenton Kissee is the acting secretary of interior affairs for the Muscogee Creek nation and has a Natural Resources degree from Oklahoma State University. He joins John this week to educate us on the involvement that the tribes have in promoting wildlife and habitat in Oklahoma. Trenton and John talk about the new agreement the big five tribes came to that allows tribe members to hunt on each other's reservation lands. Trenton also talks about some research projects the tribes have been helping on, including opening up some CWD testing sites to make testing available to more people. And just for fun, Trenton puts on the host hat and asks John a few questions about his upcoming hunt on Big Mac aka the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Ep 1851Hunting Gear Podcast - New REVEAL Trail Cameras
In this episode of the Hunting Gear Podcast, host Dan Johnson interviews Gregg Farrell from Tactacam about their new camera, Reveal. They discuss the company's history, the current rain situation in Wisconsin, and their personal hunting plans for the year. They then dive into the details of Tactacam's transition from action cameras to trail cameras, focusing on the reliability and ease of use of their products. They also talk about the evolution of trail cameras and the importance of not over-engineering them. Finally, they discuss the specific features and differences between the Reveal X 2.0 and Reveal X 3.0 models. The Tactacam 3.0 cameras have been redesigned from the ground up, with improvements in form factor and antenna design. The new antennas are mounted on the top of the camera and have a two-position pivot, allowing for better transport and positioning. The external antennas are necessary because the areas where the cameras are hung typically have poor cell service, and the antennas maximize signal strength. The new cameras also feature high-quality 4K photos and 1080p videos, improved image sensors for fewer false triggers, and an internal storage option that eliminates the need for SD cards. The cameras are more efficient with batteries and are priced the same as the previous models. Future updates include new accessories and an app update that will simplify the user experience.
