Spiritual Teachings With Shunyamurti

Once humans collectively bought into the scientistic paradigm of mere physicalism, it was inevitable that all would be influenced as well by the nihilistic creed that God is dead. However, that news was exaggerated. All that died was the soul’s connection to the light and wisdom of the Supreme Self. Now, it is urgent to shift from deicide to egocide, to attune to the vibrational frequency of Pure Presence, and to become free of all delusions.

The human ego, in its postmodern end-of-kali-yuga form, is obsessed with its bodily form and its self-definition. It desperately needs to create a defined personality with fixed views and prejudice against other paradigms of reality, since otherwise it cannot hold on to the feeling that it exists. The ego’s lack of existence thus is repressed and over that black hole is projected the image of a self-fashioned fictional entity that believes it is real. The entity likewise constructs an unreal world on which it projects its many dissociated fragments with their desires, plus its shadow drives, foreclosed wisdom, and objects of both desire and fear. To awaken from this self-created hell realm, the consciousness must release its clinging to conceptualizations, including that of the imagined ego.

The power to overcome the entropic fragmenting and psychopathic decomposition of the ego complex that may be the operating system determining your subjective experience is not in your control. Therefore, the intervention of grace by an act of the higher intelligence to whom I owe my existence is necessary. But I must activate that power of gracious redemption from my hell realm. And that will require a genuine surrender.

You are in nonduality right now, but your mental activity obscures the Real. To return to your original and eternal Buddha Nature and God-Self, you must only become fully present—by stopping the thought stream and staying as pure awareness. Then, you will begin to understand the whole river of time and all the lives of high adventure in divinized consciousness of your once and future Self.

Good and evil are the children of a divorced couple. Once Truth and Beauty were in blissful marital union, but the relationship turned sour. Truth left Her for Power. She became ugly. He lived a lie. Their kids are now fighting. Our world is the consequence. Neither Truth nor Beauty is happy. The good news is that they are now working with a couples counselor.

We are to learn from every event—so there is no such thing as a mistake. But yogis especially must learn constantly from the Inner Source, as well as from karma, dreams, physical symptoms, synchronicities, books and digital media—we must learn to stay accurately in line with the Dao, with the will of God, with the call of the Heart. At this moment, negative events are happening for everyone nearly all the time. Dark forces are dominant (even in our own egos), but even the shadow powers are feeling the effects of the law of karma. They, too, exist to motivate us to return to God-consciousness. We must graciously accept our karma with detachment and faith, and keep aligned with divine love and forgiveness. All is perfect.

It may be a useful exercise to entertain a few wild speculations about what could happen during the imminent solar eclipse. There is enough circumstantial evidence that strange plots are afoot to justify a warning to the wise: be prepared for anything. And since we are now in an unprecedented historic moment, on the brink of the end of the age, Pandora’s box has been opened, and all the demons have been unleashed. It is urgent to attune to the Supreme Presence, and the attainment of Liberation.

There are many levels to the I. Life gives us the opportunity to know the Absolute Self, the Self of uncanny wisdom and joyous rapport with the will of God, the Self of luminous clarity regarding the events on the phenomenal plane, and the Self of pure sense, of innocent existence in a living world. All these are integrated into the Whole as uncreated nonduality.

Consciousness has fallen into two correlative sets of delusions. The first is the delusion of false identity and its sequelae. This triggers the second set of delusions, those that create a false limitation of our intelligence, power, freedom, creativity, and time. We have a responsibility to overcome these false beliefs. Our primary tools in that project are faith, love, reason, and steadfast determination to realize the ultimate Truth.

This leads to the karma of abandonment, loneliness, and loss of sovereignty. If the ego is still sattvic and with noble traits, karma in Kali Yuga must involve betrayal, despair, and crucifixion. But this awakens the soul again to its divine nature and the illusion of having been forsaken is overcome. The release from the delusion of duality brings the bliss of eternal rest.

On the spiritual journey, there comes a point of no return. Then, one must take the risk of leaving behind the ego mind, and entering the realm of the Divine Presence. The macrocosm is on this trajectory, as well as every microcosm.

A realized yogi sheds his skin, but does not grow a new one. Since there is no outside and no inside to the Real, no skin boundary or defensive shield is either necessary or possible. The Self has no other, no enemy, and no limit. All fear drops away.

Salvation can only be our own receipt of forgiveness from the Merciful Lord Who abides within the Heart as the Self. Once forgiven for the sin of egocentricity and separation from the Self, one is freed from the delusions of duality. Perception becomes cleansed of its defilements and the perfection of the divine beauty of the Real is recognized with awe and wonder. Consciousness gladly surrenders to be absorbed into the Blissful Light.

Consciousness is constantly morphing, causing the world to appear as a metastable process of mutation, leading to an entropic disjunction of desires and drives, reflected as a world on the edge of chaos. Consciousness and its world both undergo the passage into annihilation. But then, as the chaos converts into pure potentiality, it morphs into a new and perfect order. Thus, the world dies and is reborn. Worldhood itself is without beginning or end. Time is not other than eternity.

Because we have abandoned our love for the Mother Goddess and the Father God, and their internal integration as pure mutuality of divine adoration, the life energy has gone out of our archetypal forms and fallen into the morbid and demonic realm of the hungry ghosts and zombie egos, which clash in the darkness of a desert world on the brink of self-annihilation. Only a return to the fullness of the Zero will emanate the salvific power of the Source of our Being.

No one is in bondage. Only the choice to believe the ego narratives diverts the attention from the Supreme Presence within—and equally without. This is a universal truth. The illumined sages of every spiritual lineage have passed this on as their legacy. That is why it is often called the Perennial Philosophy. But theoretical knowledge is not enough: The habit of forgetfulness of Self must be abandoned.

Ultimate reality is closer than the present moment and never becomes past or future. To perceive this Truth is already to be liberated and forever free. But the timebound mind, which veils the Real, must be dropped so that all is revealed and transcended.

The Buddha Mind loves paradox. Once you are energized by the recognition that the world is Nirvana, and that Nirvana is not other than the apparent world, all the predispositions of the linear mind that produce the bondage of reification drop away spontaneously. In the revelation of the Self as naked Presence, all is perceived as miraculous and awesomely beautiful. Attainment of Liberation is the result of dropping all fear and desire, all thought constructs, and all judgments.

Today, many people are functioning as hungry ghosts. And many are paralyzed spiritually by feelings of disgust and shame about their self-images, histories, and modes of self-presentation. In this context, Shunyamurti retells a story originally told by Acharya Sthaneshwar Timalsina about his meeting with an Aghori guru—and explores the implications of the extreme lifestyles and practices of those pariah yogis with amazing powers. To love God is to love your Self. This love transcends all worlds. It is now the will of God to bring complete peace by returning all souls to their Source in the Unmanifest Supreme Reality.

In order not to deviate from the highest trajectory of the unfoldment of Consciousness, one must stay attuned to the Dao. This is the Logos that unites Nirvana with Samsara—nonduality with multiplicity—thus transforming the cosmic hologram into the pure reflection of the Infinite Intelligence. One perceives the Real unstained by egoic delusions that produce the sense of conflict, imperfection, and evil. In this way, the great work of divine alchemy is completed.

The war in Ukraine has suddenly disappeared from the news, replaced by a new war in the Middle East. Rather than getting lost in the labyrinth of conspiracy theories about the identity of the puppet master, or paranoia about the likelihood of this escalating into global nuclear war, it is imperative to remain centered in the Real Self and understand the spiritual significance of what is unfolding—and to act in accord with the Dao of these final days. The psychology of the postmodern ego is so cynical that it can even turn the truth of nonduality into a reason for fear and dissatisfaction. However, knowledge is power. Once we understand the dynamics of the ego mind, we can make alterations in its functioning. And the intellect can deconstruct the ego entirely and sublimate its energies so that consciousness shifts its locus to the highest level of its own spectrum.
