Today on Sounds Of Brass.I Feature The Household Troops Band Of The Salvation Army.Perform Music By William Himes, who has more than seventy publications to his credit. Mr. Himes earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Michigan. For five years he was also adjunct lecturer in low brass at the University of Michigan - Flint.Mr Himes continues to be in demand as conductor, composer, lecturer, clinician and euphonium soloist, and has appeared throughout the world. Since 1977, Mr. Himes has been Music Director of The Salvation Army's Central Territory. In this capacity he is also conductor of the Chicago Staff Band, an internationally recognized brass band. Through the North American Brass Band Association, the popularity of brass bands has been increasing steadily in the United States since the mid-late 20th century. Houston Brass Band on Sounds Of Brass
Today on Sounds Of Brass.The Houston Brass Band (HBB). MD Robert WalpFormed in 2000 by several brass music enthusiasts, inspired by the British film Brassed Off. Damon Hilsmeier, a music educator in Pasadena ISD, led the band as conductor in those early years. The Band performed at festivals, concerts, and patriotic events, including the annual Pearl Harbor Memorial on the deck of the Battleship Texas. The Brass Band Berner Oberland (BBO) is an ambitious and innovative music club with roots in the Bernese Oberland and the city of Thun. The BBO was founded in 1969 by Markus S. Bach and built up by him into an internationally recognized brass band. It has long been one of the best known and most successful brass bands in Switzerland.
