Ep 52Soul A:M Pres COMPILATION
[Com-pil-ation] Strap yourselves in to embark on a journey through recording time into the collective world of the compilation album. What is your well played compilation Album! Let us know via social Media. Since the 1970s this alternate way of releasing tracks for distribution often overlooked by their parent companies which not only rose in popularity but became an essential way of obtaining lessor known rarities to add to your collections, Often touted as Power-plays or Hits with attractive cover Art by the labels to invoke a retail attraction, the invitation to sample various artists via Long play Media [LPs] was enough pulling power for me, with many decades spent soul searching record stores globally with an attraction too enticing to resist to this very day. *Warning* you may experience surface noise, Fluctuating dynamic ranges from LPs closing in on 50 years old “But” If you have true audiophile ears! Joy lies dormant awaiting your arrival. As part of my Uncut series, i present to you A Soul-Unique Compilation.

Ep 45SOUL A:M Pres UNDILUTED VOL 4 The Remixes
We continue this month of January as we started celebrating my music served to you the purest way I am able! Undiluted, Each week a different rendition of my nearly was Compilation Album entitled Undiluted that was so so close to construction to coincide with celebrate 10 glorious years of My weekly show Soul A:M which on this day is merely weeks away from 19 fantastic years of broadcast. Today’s excursions into my vaults serves up creations harmony’s beats n rhymes produced by wizards of the round table’s entitled Master Mixers of whom entered the foray of re-mixing records an art form which stems back to the origins of beat matching this craft in so many ways an art form daring to be at one with the music individually seamlessly segwaying independent records together to create new music... Mastering this superior level of DJ’n quickly rose in popularity due to the ability to prolong the dance-floors inhabitants subsequently enveloping them sounds with feelings of Utopian delights. Due to the demonisation of Disco which weighed down heavy on record producers and artists alike to retreat back into their studio’s to remix their own technical thoughts to evolve dance for the impending 1980s. Sadly due to its hi attention span, and the Soul Sapping concentration levels required to produce music live out of records already produced to wax challenged many Disc Jockey’s into submission thus creating a teared level of status which propelled the demand of the Mix - able DJs sky bound with the chosen few entering the recording studio to propel their passion into record production and track remixes. This production is a celebration of those DJ/Producers and record labels of whom respectfully created music out of music whilst keeping the recording artists true renditions to heart. This is Music for Real Music lovers… Uncut, Unmissable…Undiluted, Play Loud n Proud MJ.

The Inspiration for todays ensemble of Fusion, Funk n Soul artists resides with My Mother a lady l am proud to call our leader… An inspirational icon of whom knows no boundaries, Coming home to the UK amidst the madness during December to spearhead an event of what I can only describe as the most amazing retro themed Christmas to date. Advance talks with labels for copyrights were past advance stages where possible whilst negotiations were set with the Historic Abby Road recording studio's to become the first DJ/Producer to lay down a compilation live…Very exciting times these were. Ep 41SOUL A:M Pres Don't walk run…towards 2021NYE Mix
When I was growing up in the 1970s being at an age to absorb the scriptures of visionaries from comics like 2000ad that had their interpretations of our future societies ring fenced into the confines of comic books purchased by younglings eager to expand their wanton minds… Seldom would I envisage that I would actually lay witness to a sequence of events that make fantastic tales of an impending dystopian society a reality…And then came 2020! With events playing out like a movie script! from amazing stories laid out like a short story, I invite you to Don’t walk towards 1 minute past midnight this NYE! but Sprint if you can… towards the light of hope! Better still this celebration of the best mixes of the worst year in modern History, Dance, Smile! feel alive…and understand The future is what “YOU” make it. Happy New Year
Ep 40Master J Pres, The Soul of Top of the Pops
For anyone fortunate enough to have lived through this timeline where creativity innovation and trendsetting was as important as fame! You are now about to be transported back this Christmas week to revisit a British institution which since the late 60s has been a platter to sample the latest chart hits from artists from around the world, Over the years this platform was often subject of criticism for its lack diverse music! or if a track did make it on to TOTPs it would loose street cred and deemed commercial... That mentality was not shared within my mind! or i am sure with the artists and groups hopeful of making it, This compilation of hits made it onto this iconic show and features a varied selection of artists from 1 hit wonders to US super groups chart bound between 1975 - 1984, This was by no means the definitive selection, Whilst very difficult to compile, many tracks were unlawfully left out of selection to bring you respectfully streamlined show to fit into your Holiday’s and will warrant a sequel for sure! Merry Christmas to all who sample this Dance Decade special edition My Soulful Top of the Pops.
Ep 39Master J In My Studio @ 54
To round off a truly fabulous week of birthday celebrations spearheaded by my too cool family where everything was sprinkled with the very essence of disco from cup cakes to cards... The inspiration to this show goes back over 33 years where at the ages of 21 I was asked what year I wanted to celebrate next... and notable ages of 30-40 or 50 were not mentioned but one year was! 54 the year that hallmarked Disco, back then what I did not foresee was not only the demise of dance... but would be the very deconstruction of music itself. This weeks trip is hip! As I attempt to just play music selected in real time from my record vaults to ignite a spontaneous spark seldom heard on broadcast radio. Music played for their mutual attraction! Their superior production levels which were designed to compel you to abandon your best chat up lines mid flow! place down your drinks to find your place on the Dance-floor to embrace Utopia... The Music of life, Our life my music. I have so many visuals to share observing the many souls that stepped onto into the lights of Hope, Safety and expression! Sort after within the 1970s and 80s when we never knew that we were already free? Until now... Maybe one day I will unveil my Tales from the Dance-floor enjoy,
Ep 38SOUL A:M Lookin for the Perfect Beat!
Welcome to what could quite possibly be the most unique December on record! As we enter the festive armed not with reindeer printed face coverings…or Christmas tree scented sanitiser? But with a studio filled to the brim with records as i embark on a brand new mission in search of the perfect beat… Over the decades for those fortunate to have graced the Hallowed turf of a real dance-floor served like a Platter for the curator stat stood tall on the booth armed with 1&2s loaded with killer cuts caught fresh from the days record store hunting…if they were True-Players mind! Guaranteed to become a series in the new year, prepare to hear beats rhythms and dope rhymes that are driven not by the lyrics… But the beat, Enjoy MJ
Ep 36Master J A Soul Unique House Mix
This null n void November continues to hold up its end to the bargain of keeping us all conformed and paranoid asking will we or wont we! have a Festive holiday we so deserve… There are some so tuned into the Soul sapping Messages projected from the screens that consistently threaten a future like so many science fiction dystopian depictions before, that if you do not comply! Sorry Sci Fi!!! Good Gods is nothing original anymore! Its now changed to SyFi Damn SJWs. Thankfully there is Music, and this week we take you back to the Hallowed turf of Dance-Floors past in the hope of unlocking the sweetest pain unleashed within the confines of your memories should you be so fortunate to have collated them. Conceived a decade after Disco’s demise the Sounds of House unleashed many formats, But it was the 1990s that the once Soulfulness of 80s dance would once again infect beats and tempo’s this time through the harmony’s of Uplifting messages of hope in the guise of Gospel House. It was within these years that this music was best served ironically within the confines of a converted church at a then Night club called Limelight situated in central London’s Shaftesbury Avenue There were many more hotspots…But this was a very special venue. After deciding to reduce the length of our weekly excursions in soul to between 1 hour and 90 minutes very reminiscent of cassette tape TDKs anyone! Until the Festive period at least where i am quietly confident bigger productions will be created for you to break free to enjoy Family & Friends to the fullest. Break free from conformity and feel the unmistakably positive “Message in the Music” Enjoy.
Ep 35Master J A Soul-Unique Disco
Grab the Water! Clear the furniture! And switch off the Mind-manipulation tool that is Television as it is indeed time to prepare to be transported back to a decade of sincerity, positivity and an era when we appreciated the artists musicians and producers for their authenticity for believing in their crafts thus creating the origins of the Dance…. Feel the raw undiluted power of this cultural vibe spawned from mainstream rejection, A disillusioned society fuelled by paranoid oppression thus unwittingly creating an underground society locked within a closet separated from societies acceptance… Until the music pushed back until containment was no longer an option? Breaking free like a Fever that would infect all. Welcome back to the glorious 1970s and a time we working to live…and not the other way round which is a sad fact of these dystopian times… After deciding to reduce the length of our weekly excursions in soul to between 1 hour and 90 minutes very reminiscent of cassette tape TDK anyone! At least until the Festive period where i am quietly confident bigger productions will be created for you to break free to enjoy Family & Friends to the fullest. Break Free from the Matrix and Dance to my Soul-Unique DISCO.
Ep 34[Master J] A Soul-Unique
Wow what a week! with last weeks big production leaving me so feeling depleted as everything i had in the locker went out towards you through arranging and compiling a ensemble of hits to respectfully allow us to once again dance with the Soulful deceased now endorsed into the Afterlife… It was you my cherished and respected listeners who made me aware of the fact that “Givin out” my very essence every week must sometimes take its toll! and as now know! that you know that i give it my all for my music to reach you in the most sincere way i can… I have decided to reduce the length of our weekly excursions in soul to between 1 hour and 90 minutes very reminiscent of cassette tape TDKs anyone! Until the Festive period at least where i am quietly confident bigger productions will be created for you to break free to enjoy Family & Friends to the fullest. Meanwhile enjoy todays gathering of albums which was really fun to choose knowing full well that you were in for a real treat, Every record that i play is given the ultimate respect in the hope of being absorbed by appreciators of quality Soul Music…
Ep 33PROJECT AFTERLIFE 2020 28 PLAYS LATER
And here we are! The one night of the year when we intentionally and hopefully warn of dark spirits ghouls and otherworldly forces that fill us with a sense of impending Dread! Little would we have known back in 2019 that we were about to experience a whole year of Darkness laced with curiosity powered by our own fears of uncertainty of just what the NWO “whoops” I meant World health organisations world will look Like when the Plandemic agenda is realised by the many! all too late to matter. To make matters even more weird! This years theme loosely based off of a Masterpiece of film making from 2002 that hit cinema-goers hard with a stylised and updated take on the Zombie trope that i actually created for last years show! Sadly Postponed due to software issues only to be re-released this year... The year that an actual global pandemic would be unleashed upon our world playing out frame by frame like another pandemic Hollywood movie with a frightfully similar plot line from the first contagious frame to last... For 2020 I have remixed the way you will celebrate our artists n craftsmen and women of the Soulful dead, In total respect to all of the musicians, singers song writers and producers who have left our rheum, This all Hallows I have not only dropped the mic! But I have created a very rarely constructed playlist for you to be able to synchronise whilst you listen to see if you got the artist right... This year pioneering DJs are included with a few of the tracks made famous by David Mancuso, Larry Levan Froggy and the Mix doctor, Respec is due. Have fun! And remember! Ep 32SOUL A:M REWIND [2019] PROJECT VALENTINES
After a successful summer transporting you back to the now unbelievably musical safari that was the 1980s, like many others I was fortunate enough to have experienced the evolution of Dance music all played out to a never ending backdrop of record stores, night clubs parties choice encounters and so much more! Fast forward to today!!! Filled with uncertainty dystopian authorities around the globe pulling us down in unison from a count of billions to a percentage of 1? My hope is the dance decade will serve you well to a much needed love injection of creativity and artistry seldom seen or heard since the turn of the millennia. Whilst I prepare my next project to unleash the Soulful dead All Hallows’ Eve through unlocking the vinyl vaults for them to reclaim what they gave us... their Souls. I would like to unleash a powerful show rewound from Feb 2019 which aired Pre Pandemic, absorb this fine selection of Me music which for all the right reasons... I would love to share once again on a Global scale Enjoy.
Ep 31SOUL A:M Pres 1989 DANCE DECADE 80s
This episode brings us to the year it all changed! Whilst we still had the very popular wine bars and disco pubs to feel the groove within this Star-date we lived for the night life, From a UK perspective up and down the United Kingdom night clubs dominated the dance landscape from Wigan to the West End the sound of Chicago house set the tempo us to feel free...whilst Soulful Jazzy Flava’s would make a welcomed return 1990 and beyond! this year ironically would reflect a decade before where disco evolved honestly only to become demonised through blatant hijacking by the mainstream to curb its meteoric rise that elevated its popularity threatening the very fabric of the music industry. Here we are in ten years on and yet again out of the ashes of Disco comes this raw sound that emerged once again from the Hispanic & Black underground only to once again take control... the critics said it just would not last! Welcome back back to the very definition of dance music 1989 this weeks conclusion to my favourite timeline of music... The Dance Decade.
Ep 30SOUL A:M Pres 1988 Dance Decade 80s
With the Music industry experiencing one of the biggest transformations in over a decade, the dance floor spaces we were accustomed to around a bar or disco pub were about to be assaulted as the sound of the underground previously shunned by the yuppie wine bar scene were about to create their own stage bigger, louder and more progressive than any sound experienced post Disco. Garage house had hit our shores as early as 1985, but it was about to evolve once more! Infected with the signature British sound with bpm’s cranked up to meet the elevated heartbeats of both excitement...and a prescription on enhancements that some needed to fuel the desire to hyper dance to the acid house sounds best experienced at undisclosed locations to heighten the excitement to attend a Rave. Hip Hop, Dance Soul and house now known as Classic all took centre stage... Exciting time for those who like myself were at the right age, at the right time to live and breathe this exciting period of change! The irony is this same change happened a decade before with Disco... Coincidence !! or Planed?? Welcome back to the Star-date 1988 this weeks Dance Decade 80s
Ep 29SOUL A:M Pres 1987 Dance Decade 80s
Within this Soul-Unique episode our music and its origins are in jeopardy of dilution as corporate labels and media yet again spin their web of deceit and lies tempting our artists of soul towards the darker side of fame and fortune. With many contracts not worth the paper that they were written on our sound was at risk of disappearing into popular culture forever, But there was hope as raw Hip Hop & now Classic House withstood the temptation to dilution forging there own empires that the mainstream said would not last. Within this Year they would all Sound clash together on the precipice of change this eclectic mix of high hats, Bass Beats n rhymes would make for one undiluted excursion for true music lovers everywhere... Music is just not celebrated in its purest vinyl format anymore to share Joy without gain… Make sure to like and review to keep the vibe alive… Welcome back to the Star-date 1987 this weeks Dance Decade.
Ep 28SOUL A:M Pres 1986 DANCE DECADE 80s
Amongst the bright lights and commercial awareness of our music being thrusted onto the centre stage our artists stand front and centre on the cusp of Fame. Those envious, corrupt and greed filled glares of envy were about to pounce with the objective of twisting our pure sound, Manipulating the very DNA of our Dance code and the worst thing of all… It started from within. At this stage the virus of deception was minuscule, For this years contend was potent vast and varied from Hip Hop to Club Classic Soul with many anthems celebrated locally in micro clubs that infected the high streets nationally bringing the sound of Underground soul tempting the mainstream. Within this year the Tarquins of the financial sector armed with Filofax’s dared to mingle with regular wine bar goers to embrace the euphoria that swept our nation… Welcome back to the Star-Date 1986 this weeks Dance Decade.
Ep 27SOUL A:M STAR-DATE 1985 DANCE DECADE 80s
We were so alive! A stark contrast from the Cold War that was playing out on the theatre that is life, Within this very Star-Date we sought Dance music on LAND-Dance-Floors SEA-Soul boats and AIR-Pirate radio. What you will be able to hear if you listen very carefully to this weeks production is the last year that the artists were able to create because their very soul compelled them to sing out and share what message lies within... This Year sees an unwanted attention from the record labels spearheaded by so called music moguls of the commercial market as they lye in wait with envious eyes to coerce, manipulate and tempt artists of Soul into diluting their pure sound for awareness fame and fortune... If this sounds familiar this same agenda happened a decade before in the 70s with Disco and a decade before that with the commercialism of original 60s R&B cemented by the Stax Tamla Motown sound. Do you see the pattern… One thing was assured... Our music was simply Solid Soul enjoy. Welcome back to the Star-date 1985 this weeks Dance Decade..
Ep 26SOUL A:M STAR-DATE 1984 DANCE DECADE 80s
Welcome to the year that all of the hallmarks indicated that Soul Music artists got it so right, Producers continued to enhance the values pioneered in the previous decade whilst to evolution of dance music spilled over onto popular music, culture, tv and film. A culmination of Ghetto, street Rap, hip hop & electro morphed...enhanced mainly by airplay from the UK's pirate radio scene, An explosion of fashion saw a steady incline of sports wear brands become institutions whilst all of this played out amongst a cold work as two superpowers played out politics to a game of Russian roulette tempting the other into pressing the button first... Welcome home to the nearly wasn’t 1984 Dance Decade 80s.
Ep 25SOUL A:M STAR-DATE 1983 DANCE DECADE 80s
In this edition of Soul A:M we continue to absorb the essence of the ingredients that collectively progress the evolution of Soul music in the UK and indeed all around the globe. Within this Star-Date our music continues to evolve as producers continue to bend the envelope testing the constitution that regulates pop music culture. This year the scene gets colourful, the influence of the B-Boy scene spills over onto the dance-floor as sportswear brands Adidas, Nike, kappa and my fave Fila Bjorne Borg track suit illuminating the already bright lights of any hallowed turf with my petrol blue coolness... In this very production you will experience the progression of a dominating force, an Unstoppable entity that compelled music lovers to gravitate towards night clubs eager to show off a weeks choreography sweated out in front of your bedroom mirror. I welcome you to a very special place in anyone’s heart that has the pleasure to be around the grand old age as I, welcome you home to the Star-date 1983 this weeks Dance Decade...
Ep 24SOUL:AM STAR-DATE 1982 DANCE BECADE 80s
If rumour be believed there was a secret code embedded within the lyrics of Disco for all to embrace...If you were indeed within the Soul-Space to receive its transmittion across the Dance-Floors of the 1970s it read that... Love was the message! After disco's demise [by namesake only] and out of the Oppression and depression of the turn of this new 80s decade, the dance music community once more emerging with a new found enhanced sound filled with pride but was that enough to cut through the barriers! It was only time that hope would once more materialise in the guise of a wordsmith from the streets who would lay out a stark reality of just how it is if you seek fame and lay claim to riches without gain... A Message which stands tall as a warning for all to this very day Profit or Poet! Welcome home to the truly inspirational 1982 this weeks Dance Decade.
Ep 23SOUL A:M Pres 1981 DANCE DECADE 80s
Ever wondered what the 1980s were really like? Are the tracks you know and love that circulate on every compilation a real representation of the true sounds of Soul? Join me Master J as I invite you to sample my favourite timeline of music recorded in my mind from a Soul-unique perspective of both the DJ Booths and hallowed turf of Dance-floors from London to Miami, Jamaica and beyond...
