We all want our kids to feel confident. We want them to feel capable. In this episode, we delve into research on what words we use to encourage our kids. The concept of praise is a fascinating one, and some methods yield results that are opposite of what we intend. We discuss the difference between effort based praise and results based praise, and why it’s worth practicing the first. We also explore when it is really powerful to use identity praise when instilling values, and we describe how gratitude, love and authenticity are the keys in the end to helping our kids feel confident as we delight in their existence with them.
