There are so many interesting things to see out at Overland Expo. From jumping fire pits to outrageous $1 Million builds it really does have it all. Something we tried this year was the classes for the mini assistant. She took the first aid class “Booboos and Outchies” and we even learned a thing or two. In our time there we meet with some companies, some old friends, and even made some new ones. First Interview was with Brian from Goose Gear. The 56th Annual Sierra Trek is in the final stages, and we are happy to bring you our friend John Allen with some updates about the event and some information about the River. The Sierra Trek takes place on the Fordyce Creek Trail but don’t think that all the runs are down that trail because there are some additional runs for people that don’t have a rig that can handle the trail. There is also the Signal Peak Run, Outer Limits, Historical Tour and SxS runs. There is a little bit for everyone. Tyler discusses the new technology in the Ford Bronco that they used while out at Cruise Moab. We already covered our trip, and all the trails we went on, but we had some follow-up questions on all the new tech that is in the Bronco. Tyler went and took a class on how to use your chainsaw. Besides the boring 9 hr classroom session it sounded like a very interesting course. He learned proper liming, bucking, and felling techniques. Now that he is certified he will be able to use a chainsaw in national forests whenever he is doing trail maintenance. The question is, Is planning for a multi-night overland trip different than base camping with the trailer? This is the first time Tyler is taking the Bronco and the Traile on a multi-night trip where he is changing his location every night. Jimmy went snow wheeling up Hull Mountain. Even though there was little snow, he still got denied by one drift that went directly to a steep side of the mountain. Hull Mountain is located in the Mendocino National Forest. This was the first time that we have ever been into that area and even though the off-roading wasn’t difficult there were a lot of trails you could explore. There are many vehicles you would think to Ultra4 race at King of the Hammers, and a Nissan probably isn’t at the top of that list. However, Brady and Nestor for some reason took on the challenge of bringing a Nissan Xterra that is highly modified out to Ultra4 and putting it in the 4500 class and race.
