The Murdaughs were once a prominent family in South Carolina for nearly a century. Within the last decade, the name has been tarnished by a litany of financial crimes and murder.

In 1976, 16-year-old Trenny Gibson went on a field trip with 38 other students and her horticulture teacher to the Great Smoky Mountains. The students hiked along a trail to observe the plants and trees. At 3:30pm, 38 students returned to the school bus. Trenny did not.

Colleen Ritzer was a vibrant, 24-year-old teacher killed in a place she loved and should have been safe for absolutely no reason.

Thelma Todd was an actress and businesswoman in the late 1920s and early 1930s. On the morning of December 16, 1935, Thelma's body was discovered in her convertible, inside a garage. She was found to have sustained physical injuries, as well as carbon monoxide poisoning. The cause of death was ruled an accident, but is that truly the case?

Mercy Brown died of tuberculosis in 1892 along with her mother and siblings. When her brother fell ill, the villagers believed that the only explanation was a vampire had been sucking the life out of the family. Mercy and her family members were exhumed and the villagers discovered the vampire.

Betsy Faria was found murdered, stabbed 55 times on Dec 27, 2011. She had gone to her chemotherapy appointment that day and was driven home by her friend, Pam Hupp. Betsy was found by her husband Russ. We left off with Russ just having been convicted of her murder almost two years later, despite having a solid alibi and no physical evidence. Pam, who had no alibi and was the beneficiary of her life insurance policy, was never considered by police to be a suspect.

Betsy Faria was married with two children when she met Pamela Hupp in 2001. In 2011, Betsy was diagnosed with breast cancer and Pam became a very supportive friend. But did she have an ulterior motive? By the end of 2011, Betsy was dead, her husband was in prison, and Pam had $150,000.

Theodore Robert Bundy was a serial killer who active mostly during the 1970s. After more than a decade of denials, he confessed to 30 murders. The total number of his victims is likely to be higher.

The last man executed in Pennsylvania had black coffee and two slices of cheese pizza as his last meal. He was lying on a gurney with a sheet covering most of his body when the lethal injection was given. He had no final words. At 10:29pm on July 6, 1999, Gary Heidnik was pronounced dead and witnesses applauded, while one shouted, “Thank you, Jesus!”

Roch Thériault was a self-proclaimed prophet. He founded the Ant Hill Kids, a Canadian, doomsday cult, in 1977. Roch maintained multiple wives and concubines, impregnating all female members as a religious requirement, and fathering 26 children. Roch's followers, including 12 adults and 22 children, lived under his totalitarian rule in a commune and were subject to severe physical and sexual abuse.

Gerald Armond Gallego and Charlene Adelle Gallego were a husband and wife team that abducted, sexually assaulted, and murdered at least eleven victims in the late 1970s in California.

In 2019, Timothy Bliefnick was a contestant on the game show Family Feud. The episode aired in 2020 and the nation witnessed Timothy make a joke that would haunt him for years. In February 2023, Timothy's estranged wife, Rebecca was murdered, shot 14 times in her home.

Robert Wone was murdered in the home of his college friend, Joseph Price, in August 2006. The residents of the home – Price, Victor Zaborsky and Dylan Ward – contended that the murder was committed by an intruder unknown to them. Many aspects of this murder make that hard to believe.

Joshua Maddux went missing in 2008 and seven years later, was found in the chimney of a cabin just two blocks from his home.

During their trial, the brothers stated that they committed the murders out of fear that their father would kill them after they threatened to expose him for years of abuse, while the prosecution argued that they did it to inherit their father's multimillion-dollar estate.

Jonathan Paul Luna was an Assistant United States Attorney in Baltimore, Maryland, who was found dead under mysterious circumstances. Luna had been stabbed 36 times with his own pocketknife before he drowned in a creek next to his car in rural Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

On June 1, 1987, 16-year-old Theresa Ann Bier went searching for Bigfoot with a 43-year-old friend inn the Sierra Nevada mountains. She was never seen again.
