Martin graduated in 2011 with honors from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts' Film and Television program with a focus on directing and in 2010, he founded City Headshots®, which, according to Yelp, is ranked the #1 headshot studio in New York City. City Headshots currently employs seven people and has affiliate locations in New York, Denver, Chicago, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Some of City Headshots' repeat clients include well-known companies such as LinkedIn Corp, Facebook, and American Express, and many of its photos have been featured in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. As a business owner who has grown from zero to over half a million dollars per year, Martin not only understands the intricacies of marketing and finding clients, but also what it takes for actors to successfully navigate the industry and make themselves memorable. He coaches actors one-on-one with their branding, marketing, and management strategies, and in how they conduct themselves with agents, managers, and casting directors. Shadow work, have you heard of it? In this brilliant impactful episode, artist Ali Senegali and I dive deep on shadow work, converse about his roots in Senegal, Africa. During his time he began to feel unsure about his path and Ali was beginning to feel like he wanted to live a more creative life and that perhaps the path he was following was not his own and was instead a reflection of his dad's dreams. Tom graduated from Villanova University with a degree in Finance. Tom started out as an assistant in the voiceover department at TGI (Talent Group, Inc.) in 1999. Tom worked his way up and became an agent late in 2000 and helped start up VOX, Inc. in 2002 with owner Wes Stevens. Over the years he's helped build and strengthen VOX in all areas of voiceover and is now President of VOX and a partner. Tom grew up in Duxbury, MA, and lives in Los Angeles. Writing has been a gateway to express any & all emotions, thoughts that go on through my mind and body. I remember one day at school I felt as if I were the ODDBALL out. I went home, sat on my bunk beds at the time, and I wrote my first poetry piece titled "the Odd Ball" My writings have lifted to spoken-word pieces, I recorded a spoken-word musical album, I have written songs and teamed up with other artists to create singles and albums. Oh, I even co-wrote a new animations series that is on it's way to being animated right now! There are no limits on what one can do as a writer. Gratefully, I met the one and only Greek Goddess pioneer, Arianna Huffington, and she personally asked me to write for her on her publications which include, the Huffington Post and Thrive Global! I feel so honored and so blessed. As a writer, we have those things they call "writers' block", we get "stuck" and sometimes take much needed breaks. I love music so much! I have read and believe that the poets, songwriters, and singers of the world are the angels of the universe. We are able to communicate sound, vibrations, and language in a way that makes us all feel so deeply connected.
