The topic of today’s episode is low libido or sex drive. It’s one of the most common issues that sex therapists see in their practice. Usually, it’s either the partner who doesn't have much of a libido and you miss feeling connected to it, or you're totally fine not being connected to your sex drive, but your partner is not. If you find yourself under the dry spell or in a sexless marriage and you wonder what the heck is going on, today I’m going to unpack the most common reasons behind the low libido and what you can do about it.
What You’ll Learn:
- Libido issue may be a quick fix, but it can also be complex and very holistic
- How to get to the deeper aspects of libido issues using Internal Family Systems
- My own experience with low libido following a breakup
- The brakes and accelerators of sex drives and how to discover your brakes
- Responsive and spontaneous desire and how to intentionally increase your responsive desire with “sexual reminders”
- Accept your circumstances - it’s normal for things to slow down when you have kids, for example
- The difference between high libido and “sex addiction” or “out of control sexual behavior”
You’ll hear me often saying that I view sex drive and sexual energy as a life force energy. So, I invite you to get curious about it and check out my Mojo Magic guidebook for low libido at https://HeatherShannon.co/Freebies
