Seahawks vs. Patriots Super Bowl 60 Preview w/ EJ Snyder
The Super Bowl matchup between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots has a chance to be a defensive slugfest or a passing shootout — depending on how these teams approach it. Bootleg Football's EJ Snyder breaks down Drake Maye's rise in year two, comparing his production and elusiveness to a rival quarterback. The Patriots' offensive line remains a question mark, particularly on the left side where rookie Will Campbell is battling through a knee injury. The marquee individual battle features Jaxon Smith-Njigba going up against Christian Gonzalez's coverage, a clash of top-tier talents that could determine the game's outcome. Despite the Patriots impressive turnaround under Mike Vrabel, the Seahawks defense is peaking at the perfect time, and Sam Darnold's statement performance should prove he's ready for the moment. 484: NFC West Showdown – Who Takes Control of the Division?
We're still flying high after another dominant Seahawks victory over the Arizona Cardinals. It's not just the win — but how they were able to do it. Tyrice Knight, Ty Okada, Nehemiah Pritchett and Drake Thomas weren't guys we were expecting big contributions from at the beginning of the season, and now they're a big reason to be excited about the defense. With the Rams game coming up on Sunday, it will be the biggest test yet for the Seahawks. Ernest Jones and Cooper Kupp get to face off against their former team, but it may also be a revenge game for Sam Darnold based on how last season went for our quarterback. A lot has been made this week about how the Rams are using “heavy” personnel packages with their tight ends. Is it even that big of a deal? In the second half of the show we talk about a fictional offseason trade scenario between the Seahawks and Browns and one major reason why Myles Garrett shouldn't be a coveted trade candidate. Maintaining appliances and a new term showing up in sports are discussed in the Do Better segment. Lastly, stick around to find out why the Arizona Cardinals and a key part of the Earth's atmosphere are “Better at Life.” Join our Sea Hawkers Podcast Pickem League – free prizes for weekly winners. 478: The Best Uniform Game Ever
Is this really a “measuring stick” game for the Seahawks? We discuss whether beating the Bucs would finally get the national media to take Seattle seriously, or if they'll still have something to prove with a win. Both teams have had some shaky performances against questionable teams, at the same time they both seem to be playoff caliber team. How is that possible? The Bucs are banged up, missing key players like Jamel Dean, Mike Evans, and Bucky Irving, while the Seahawks are dealing with their own absences on defense. Things to watch! Can the Seahawks finally find some rhythm in the run game, or will the Bucs' run defense shut them down? Targeting the Bucs linebackers in coverage could be the key to unlocking the passing game. Will Seattle's 64% red zone scoring rate be the difference-maker? Could this be the breakout game for Derrick Hall? Nick Emmanwori is back and Ty Okada will fill in for Julian Love. How will the Seahawks approach the secondary with Derion Kendrick also filling in for Devon Witherspoon? Closing the show, Adam takes aim at Shedeur Sanders for his media antics, while Brandan calls out Rams fans for their complaints following the loss to the Niners. Better at Life honors go to Daisy Foko Granson gets a nod for her innovation in ACL recovery and Bijan Robinson is celebrated for his work to improve childhood literacy in Atlanta. Seahawks Playoff Hopes Are Now in Peril
Another tough week for Seattle Seahawks fans after our team lost to the Minnesota Vikings 27-24, putting any playoff hopes in serious jeopardy. We break down the game, and discuss how our Seahawks had a lead but couldn't hold onto it in the fourth quarter. Despite a promising comeback led by Geno Smith, the offense struggled with balance and timely penalties. Justin Jefferson torched the Seahawks defensive backs for two touchdowns, while DK Metcalf was held relatively in check by the Vikings defense. With the loss, the Seahawks playoff hopes now rest on the Arizona Cardinals being able to beat the Rams, only if Seattle can go on the road on win on Thursday. Looking for more Seahawks shows? 3 IN, 3 OUT: CP Holds To Allow DK To Catch
The Seahawks return to starting in the IN column this week with the 27-23 victory over the Los Angeles Rams and we kick off the show with some Seahawks offensive moments from the first drive. Was Bobby Wagner a force in this game? Sure, but Seattle got him at least twice in this game. There was another Rams defender, however, a brown-eyed, terminating force that put two Seahawks offensive lineman into the OUT column. A Seahawks player draws a flag and still gets an in? And finally, a tight end stole our hearts, stole the show, and ripped the MVC with a late-game display. Support the show Get in the Flock! What If?… Seahawks vs Broncos Preview (Let’s Ride Curse Edition)
The regular season is here and the Let's Ride Curse is real. With those two indisputable facts in mind, Brandan, Clinton and Phil preview the Monday Night Football matchup this week and consider a variety of potential outcomes. What if Rashaad Penny is no longer cursed with the injury bug that we've seen in past seasons, who could that impact what we see from Seattle? What if the Let's Ride Curse comes into contact with the Broadcaster's Curse? Finally, what's a crazy moment we could see in the game that would prove to everyone that the curse is in full effect? All those topics, and more, on this week's What If?…Week 1 preview. 2022 Podcast Pick'em League Support the show Get in the Flock! B88: NFL Rules Changes with the Nach on Sports (3/30/18)
There are some new rules that were voted on at the NFL's Annual League Meeting and are set to go into effect this year. Anthony and Brandan talk about the changes to the catch rule, permanent changes to the kickoffs coming out to the 25-yard line, and penalizing hits that lead with the helmet. Considering how the Seahawks have been teaching tackling these years under Pete Carroll, Brandan says he doesn't expect much to change for the team and the idea that the game will be less physical is overblown. The guys talk about what players will need to do and what officials would need to watch for to make a proper call in this case. With the draft coming up, the latest speculation on trade partners is that the Browns may be interested in having an additional pick in the first round, which could give Seattle two picks in the second round. Our next regularly scheduled show is set to come out Monday with Adam and Brandan planning to record over the weekend.
177: NFL Game of the Year edition, Seahawks trade for Texans All-Pro tackle and help Watson join elite QB trio
The Seahawks make a big move at the trade deadline to get an All-Pro caliber offensive lineman as Duane Brown comes to the team. Seattle gives up a couple of high draft picks and end up keeping Jeremy Lane after he fails a physical. Brandan is baffled that the Texans would find a way to send him back to Seattle, especially considering the outcome of what may have been the best NFL game to watch this year. The Seahawks and Texans battled back and forth the entire game. Seattle was the only team with back-to-back scores and Russell Wilson accumulates another “stat.” Although the Seahawks defense gave up nearly 40 points, there were some noteworthy performances on the defensive line and multiple interceptions by the Legion of Boom helped Russell Wilson and the offense to rack up enough points in a shootout nobody could have predicted. The guys talk about Deshaun Watson and how he deserves praise for the kind of performance that even veteran quarterbacks haven't been able to achieve in Seattle. The guys look ahead to Sunday's upcoming game against Washington, offer a look at their talent that Seattle fans should be aware of and discuss why the condition their opponent's offensive line has Adam wishing for the perfect weather to give Kirk Cousins something to look forward to. In the second half of the show, Brandan gives a mid-season update on the bet with the Rams Podcast. There's a new patch donated from a member of the flock to go out to podcast listeners and a new prize to offer up to the pick'em league champion. Do better nods this week go out to an Ad Council commercial that features some creepy cutaways and to the national media for not giving the Seahawks the appropriate level of attention after their latest win. To close out the show, Brandan gives a better at life award to the Texans quarterback for joining an elite trio of quarterbacks and Adam professes his love to the Seahawks general manager for doing something about an issue he's been complaining about for a while.
