A plaque has been unveiled in Coolgardie, a remote town of Western Australia, to acknowledge the contributions of early Sikh settlers in the region. The plaque is part of a trail being created across the state to formally recognise Sikh history. Designed in the shape of a half-worn turban and featuring traditional Punjabi Phulkari art, the plaque commemorates the stories of nearly 150 Sikh residents who lived in the area during the 1890s. - ਪੱਛਮੀ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਕੂਲਗਾਰਡੀ ਪਿੰਡ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਖਾਸ ਤਖਤੀ ਲਗਾਈ ਗਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਲੱਗਭਗ 135 ਸਾਲ ਪੁਰਾਣੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਇਤਿਹਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਨਮਾਨਿਤ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਇਸ ਵਿੱਚ 1890 ਦੇ ਦਹਾਕੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਊਠ ਚਾਲਕਾਂ ਵਜੋਂ ਕਾਰਗੂਰਲੀ ਦੀ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਖਾਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਦਾ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਦਰਜ ਹੈ। ਖ਼ਾਸ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਸਰਦਾਰ ਮੱਸਾ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੀ ਉਹ ਇਤਿਹਾਸਕ ਲੜਾਈ ਵੀ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਦੇ ਅੰਤਿਮ ਸੰਸਕਾਰ ਕਾਨੂੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲਾਅ ਲਿਆਂਦਾ।
