In 1975, it was decided to turn the annual commemoration into a week-long event marked from the first to the second Sunday in July. - National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee, ਵਲੋਂ NAIDOC ਹਫਤੇ ਨੂੰ 1920 ਅਤੇ 1930 ਵਿਚਲੇ ਸੰਘਰਸ਼ ਦੀ ਯਾਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। 1938 ਦੇ ਆਸਟ੍ਰੇਲੀਆ ਡੇਅ ਵਾਲੇ ਦਿਨ, ਪਰਦਰਸ਼ਨਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਸਿਡਨੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰਚ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਸੋਗ ਦਾ ਦਿਨ ਐਲਾਨਿਆ ਸੀ।
