June’s “Recommended Children's Book of the Month” (Navi: Yuko Fujiki) is “Dance Friends” written by Camilla Chester, translated by Rie Kushida and published by Komineshoten. This is a story about a boy named Leo, who has “selective mutism” and a girl named Richa, who moves in next door and is a talkative girl of the same age as Leo, who develops courage and friendship through dancing. This is the first Japanese translation of a children's book by Camilla Chester, a British children's literature author. In this story, Leo and Richa express their feelings that cannot be expressed in words through dance, and a great friendship grows between them.
