RUSH: I told you people yesterday and the day before of a movie, a mini-series running on ABC on September 10th and 11th, called The Path to 9/11 and I told you that I have the DVDs. I also told you because I am in touch — I am poor when I’m in New York — I do not have a DVD player. I don’t. My apartment’s got an old media room in it, it’s got a laser disk player in it, but it doesn’t have a DVD. Well, actually it has a DVD player in it, but the TV doesn’t work. The projector does, and it’s the only room in the house where there’s a DVD player, and I can’t watch DVDs on computers because I can’t hear well through computer speakers. So I watched it. It’s four hours. I have the DVDs right here. I’m holding them in my formerly nicotine-stained fingers. I watched on the plane flight home last night. I watched part of the first one. I had to go to the airplane to watch it. I’ll tell you, this is called being in touch with the average American. I couldn’t watch a DVD at home. At any rate, let me just give you the upshot of this, because I’ve mentioned to you even without having seen it I know what it’s about. The Path to 9/11 essentially chronicles everything we know that happened in the nineties that prevented the capture of Osama bin Laden. And what we see happening is we military families are in great despair right now, and I’m wondering if you can give us some words of encouragement because we’re not through with this war. RUSH: You know, I’ve got a story here in the Stack about Hollywood leftists, led by Ed Asner and Mike Farrell. Now, they’re a couple of relics, but they are the leaders of the anti-war movement in Hollywood, and they’re still influencing young actors and actresses, and they are admitting they don’t like this at all. They don’t like this Syria business. They don’t like what’s going on in Libya. They don’t like Obama’s foreign policy at all.But they will not go public with it, and Asner admitted why. They don’t want to be seen as “anti-black.” Bingo again. It’s the same reason the Republicans are not standing up and stopping this or opposing it. Nobody wants to be seen as anti-black, and so opposing Obama is not seen as opposing Obama. It is racism. It is perceived as being against black people. RUSH: I have been struck by something.You know, after the 59 Tomahawks were launched into Syria, there were a bunch of Trumpists, famous Trumpists who were not happy. They began tweeting immediately: “Trump said he would never do this. This is not America first. This is not putting America first. This is not making America great again. Trump said he wouldn’t be doing these kinds of military interventions anymore.” So I began to think, is that true? Did Trump campaign frequently, reliably promising there would not be any U.S. military intervention abroad? That’s another question I must put to you Trumpists.I realize a lot of people interpreted that that is what Trump meant when he said, “Put America first,” and he was talking about NATO. With NATO he never said NATO had to go away. He just said the people running it are not paying their fair share, and we’re not gonna continue to pay way beyond our share here. We’re not gonna bear the burden. If NATO’s gonna mean anything, these people gotta play ball.By the same token, I was trying to remember last night — I Googled it, looked around — I couldn’t find it, as in white paper policy positions, Trump claiming consistently and often, that there would never be any military intervention around the world. This spiking the football two days in a row, actually three, over getting Bin Laden. You know, there’s only one guy who said we shouldn’t go get Bin Laden. You know who it was? It was Biden. RUSH: Well, Senator McCain, who some are calling Senator McCrazy, Senator McCain is back. He’s sucking up to the Drive-By Media and taking cheap shots at President Bush. He was in Ohio yesterday campaigning for and with Senator Mike DeWine, said this at a news conference.MCCAIN: I think one of the biggest mistakes we’ve made was underestimating the size of the task and the sacrifice that would be required. “Stuff happens. Mission accomplished. Last throes. Few dead-enders.” I’m more familiar with those statements than anyone else because it grieves me so much that we had not told the American people how tough and difficult this task would be.RUSH: I’m going to go back. I have a quote here from President Bush on April 28th of 2003. May I read that quote to you? “Iraq can be an example of peace and prosperity and freedom to the entire Middle East. It will be a hard journey. But at every step of the way, Iraq will have a steady friend in the American people.” I am not aware of the president — well, I’m not aware of myself ever thinking this was going to be a cakewalk, and I’m not aware of the administration making the case. I think that mission accomplished banner on board the aircraft carrier, some could say that was misleading, but the mission at that time was accomplished. That was getting rid of Saddam. The war in Iraq actually was quite successful and didn’t take very long. It is the aftermath, the quest for peace, so to speak, that is taking a long time. RUSH: I am holding this latest story right here in my formerly nicotine stained fingers: “Forecasters See Less Active ’06 Hurricane Season” (Gasping.) “The United States hurricane season will be slightly less intense this year than first predicted with nine hurricanes expected to form, government forecasters said on Tuesday, but they warned the most dangerous part of the season was still to come.” Really? We know this. The peak is in the middle of September. NOAA “said the 2006 season could produce between 12 to 15 named storms, with seven to nine becoming hurricanes and three or four of them being classified as ‘major’ hurricanes that could threaten the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf coasts.”Now, you know, I want to be very careful here because these people have a tough job. They have incredible expectations placed on them, and those expectations are not helped by all the media hype about hurricanes and disasters and so forth, but come on. Does anybody really expect that they can tell you in April or March what’s going to happen in a hurricane season? They think they do, but the best that we can do is issue a wild guess based on data that we have collected and analyzed in computers over a number of years in the past. Remember we were told a new cycle here? You have this very wasp-y fellow, Lamont, very calm, very casual, very St. Paul’s almost in the prep school sense, Lieberman of course is the schmaltzy ethnic guy, the Uncle Tonoose, you know, the guy that’s very much kind of lachrymose in his almost postnasal drip voice of his, but he doesn’t look happy.RUSH: All right, now, “the schmaltzy ethnic guy, the Uncle Tonoose,” And as I said the last hour, Uncle Tonoose was a character on the old Danny Thomas show, and I think I’m pretty safe in saying that Uncle Tonoose is played by Hans Conried, huge hook nose and so forth. Here’s Matthews describing — let’s be honest about this, folks; let’s just put it out there. When you say somebody “is a schmaltzy ethnic guy,” you’re not talking about an Arab. You’re talking about a Jew. You just described somebody as a schmaltzy ethnic guy who has postnasal drip with his voice, lachrymose and so forth. Uncle Tonoose, in character, was a Lebanese Arab.Danny Thomas was a Christian Lebanese, and Uncle Tonoose therefore, was portraying an Arab. But isn’t it interesting that you have Chris Matthews describing an Arab as a Jew, on the basis of appearance, schmaltzy ethnic guy. You know, there are some people saying this, but their dancing around it, but one of the little — or not often discussed aspects of the kook fringe base of the Democratic Party, I’m just going to put it out there, is anti-Semitism. RUSH: So, I’m looking at CNN, and their chyron graphic right now at the bottom of their screen is, “Soon Trump to Hold News Conference Amid Fallout from Book.” I will bet you that’s not what his press conference is about. I’ll bet it’s about something else entirely. Now, there may be some questions about the book, but if I’m CNN…It’s gotta be real hard to get out of bed and go to work every day if I’m CNN. You know why? Because everything they’ve tried has blown up in their face. You know how I know? Donald Trump is still president. Donald Trump is still in the Oval Office. He’s still president. He’s still calling the shots. Donald Trump is still the man with the power in Washington, D.C.CNN has devoted its existence to getting Donald Trump. They have failed miserably! CNN does not have one success story to tell, and yet here they are, getting up every day and failing famously. They’re failing publicly, they are failing right in in front of our eyes, and they apparently don’t care. RUSH: I just got this, and I’m not able to study it and really make a whole lot of sense out of it. It’s a Pew survey on who watches television and what the partisan political split of various TV show audiences is and all. You get down to what the Pew — P-e-w — survey of this stuff, you get down to one section, who’s got the smartest, who has the most knowledgeable audience, and on television — just listen to what this says. ‘On television, The O’Reilly Factor, has the most knowledgeable audience, 27% of the audience are college grads, which matches the national average,’ but, but:Only three audiences in the Pew survey scored higher on high knowledge than O’Reilly at his Factor TV show. Regular readers of The New Yorker and the Atlantic, regular Rush Limbaugh listeners, and regular Weekly Standard and New Republic readers. I don’t know if there’s anybody above that. I don’t have that, because radio and this stuff is not part of the survey, at least from the website that I’m reading this from. But I have always known it. RUSH: AP: ‘The City Council brushed aside warnings from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. to approve an ordinance that makes Chicago the biggest city in the nation to require big-box retailers to pay a ‘living wage.’ The ordinance, which passed 35-14 Wednesday after three hours of impassioned debate, requires mega-retailers to pay wages of at least $10 an hour plus $3 in fringe benefits,’ $3 in fringe benefits? ‘by mid-2010. It would only apply to companies with more than $1 billion in annual sales and stores of at least 90,000 square feet. ‘It’s trying to get the largest companies in America to pay decent wages,’ Ald[erman] Toni Preckwinkle said.’No, it’s not.‘The minimum wage in Illinois is $6.50 an hour and the federal minimum is $5.15. Mayor Richard M. Daley and others warned the living wage proposal would drive jobs and desperately needed development from some of the city’s poorest neighborhoods and lead giants like Wal-Mart to abandon the city.’ It’s exactly right. Wal-Mart will ring the city. Wal-Mart will surround the city, but they will not go there. (Laughing.) There are some things that I knew. I learned these things late in life. But I’m told that — and Molly Yard, who was the leader of the NOW gang at the time, was the inspiration for this, the All-American First Cavalry Amazon Battalion.We all know that PMS is a dreaded, dreaded thing. My thing was that if we could have a battle-ready contingent, women in combat during that particular time of the month, nobody could beat us. We can roust anybody. We could defeat anybody. But what would we have to do to make sure that we always had, at a moment’s notice, a battle-ready contingent of women with premenstrual syndrome… Premenstrual syndrome? That’s when I learned that these menstrual cycles can synchronize if women are grouped together in barracks, dormitories, or whatever. Aug 3, 2020How about this, folks. Ratings crash for the NBA, for Major League Baseball after protest-filled debuts. Who was it that predicted this was going to happen? I think it was your host. As the NBA and the Major League Baseball returned from their coronavirus imposed hiatus, it appears that television viewers are not interested in what the increasingly woke leagues have to offer. With both baseball and basketball draped in all sorts of Black Lives Matter and social justice symbolism for their opening games, a substantially smaller number of fans tuned in to the rest of the league's games. The openers did okay, but after that (raspberry). So, folks, it is clear the American people, maternal, have no interest in watching BLM all on her the pitcher's mound, Black Lives Matter all over the signage in ballparks, they don't want to tune in and watch a bunch of players kneeling during the American national anthem. They just don't want to see it. And I hope the people of the NFL are watching this. I hope the people at the -- I doubt it because I think Twitter runs American sports now. I think Twitter and Nike are running professional sports.But I'm telling you these ratings crashes have nothing to do with the fact there are not any fans in the stadiums, have nothing to do with -- it's the American people just don't want to be preached to by a Marxist, pro-communist organization while they are trying to get enthused and excited about the return of major league professional sports. They are still out pushing the idea that Trump stole that election with the Russians. But to go in and rig the election before Election Day to make sure that no matter what happens your guy is gonna win, it’s not possible folks. It simply isn’t possible and no less than Barack Hussein Obama has made this point. And yet the Democrat Party has done everything it can to make people in this country believe that’s exactly what happened, that the Russians wanted Trump, and so they made it happen. Dr. King, one of his most famous passages was that he hoped that his kids someday would grow up in a country where — I’m paraphrasing — the content of their character was the single greatest determining factor about the kind of people they were, rather than the color of their skin. Now, Dr. King — and I have no problem saying this at all — Dr. King would not recognize the modern iteration of the Democrat Party.He did believe in nonviolence. But in the end, we somehow — and I believe it’s because we are a nation blessed by God — we have survived where other people on this planet have not. Something about the sheer, raw decency, goodness of power as defined and expressed in our Constitution has intimidated even the worst of bad actors into leaving it alone, until now. Now we have arrived at the moment where the Constitution no longer frightens the people behind Joe Biden. The Constitution no longer threatens them. The Constitution no longer intimidates ’em. You know why? Because they believe that a significant portion of the American people have no idea what the Constitution says. They believe that a majority of the American people have no idea what the Constitution’s about. They believe a majority of Americans have no idea what the Bill of Rights is.
