RUSH: The 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall is going on right now. It’s dark over there in Germany. I have a story here from the State-Controlled Associated Press: ‘Merkel Thanks Gorbachev on Berlin Wall Anniversary.’ Now, let’s be clear about something. ‘Barack Hussein Obama. Mmm, mmm, mmm!’ was invited to go and said (imitating Obama) ‘Mmm, mmm, mmm, ain’t going! Got to bowl, gotta play golf, got a concert in the House, got a date night, gotta celebrate health care. I ain’t going. I don’t believe in freedom, anyway. That wall, we communists, we don’t celebrate our failures. Let Gorbachev handle it. Besides, I don’t want to go over there and be upstaged by Ronald Reagan.’ I have not found any reporting yet — I’m not saying she didn’t do it, but I’ve not found any reporting yet that says Merkel mentions Reagan. Now, she did back on November 4th in a speech. She said, ‘Ronald Reagan far earlier than others saw and recognized the sign of the times when standing at the Brandenburg Gate in ’87. He said, ‘Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate, tear down this wall.’ This appeal to something that never will be forgotten,’ Merkel said. This appeal? So Gorbachev is over there and by the way, he’s out there making news. He’s now comparing the climate change effort here, militant environmentalism has now replaced the Cold War. RUSH: The global warming crew, this is so classic. I just love it. They’re going down to Antarctica — the South Pole, for those of you in Rio Linda — and they’re gonna prove that there’s so much global warming that there isn’t any ice, or very little ice, that it’s melting. It’s a cruise. And they get stuck in the ice far, far away from their intended destination. So icebreakers are called in. The icebreakers get stuck!There was a ChiCom icebreaker that got stuck. They needed all these fossil fuel, gigantic ships to rescue them after a week. And every news story — every one of them! Let me put it this way: Not one news story makes the connection that these are a bunch of hypocrites. Not one notes the irony. You didn’t hear what they accused Trump of? Basically, they said Trump hired prostitutes to come urinate on a bed at the Ritz-Carlton in Moscow because Barack and Michelle had slept on the bed.That was one of the allegations, and it turns out the Democrat Party is behind this. A donor and a strategist for Planned Parenthood wrote the dossier, a guy who has worked for Planned Parenthood. Do not ever doubt me when I tell you that everything in opposition to Trump is gonna have its roots in the Democrat Party, to one of their think tanks, to one of their groups, to one of their institutions, to Hillary and Bill Clinton. It’s inescapable. Colin Powell is not thought to speak this way. People don’t think that Colin Powell even thinks this way.Colin Powell is not a “partisan.” He doesn’t say mean things about people except the people who deserve to have mean things said about them, like me. But, other than that, he doesn’t criticize establishment types. And look what’s in these emails. My God, we could make at least two T-shirts with nothing but Colin Powell quotes on the front! In fact, that may be an idea. They’ve been trying to push the idea that Powell won’t be voting for Trump because Powell called Trump “a national disgrace.”Ha! RUSH: The Steve Bannon interview… I’ve been getting emails all day from people who want my take on this, so I’m gonna go ahead and get into this now. I got to tell you again up front, I don’t know the guy. I haven’t even…He’s been in a room twice when I have been with the president, but I’ve never been formally introduced even, and I’ve never spoken directly to him. So none of this is, to me, based on any personal knowledge I have of Bannon or the arrangement that Trump and Bannon have. All I can do is speculate hire, which I’ll be happy to do. Now, the reason that Washington’s in a tizzy today is because Bannon called Robert Kuttner at The American Prospect for an exclusive interview. This would be like Reagan calling Pravda.Unreal, of all the people Bannon could call, he calls Kuttner at The American Prospect. He calls somebody that hates Trump as much as anybody hates Trump, and it was not off the record. He wanted it known. Whatever was in this interview, Bannon wants out there, and it’s out there. I watched Karl Rove react to it today and he was beside himself. He just could not believe any of this. There is going to be a sanctions vote tomorrow, and once again, ladies and gentlemen, we have been shafted by the Russians and the Chinese. The vote on sanctions is tomorrow, and Fox had a little breaking news story this morning saying that an arms embargo will not be added to UN resolutions. There will be no ban on where the NorComs can fly in the resolution. I mean this is really watered down stuff, to be voted on tomorrow morning. Now, all of this is supposed to deter North Korea? All of this is supposed to deter Iran? Make no mistake about something on this: The Iranians are watching all this very carefully, just as they were watching the Israeli-Hezbollah war. (They probably started that one just to check everybody’s resolve.) RUSH: I have to admit, my friends, I’m a little confused about certain aspects of the situation here involving Mark Foley and the page. Now, the school system, the public school system has since the late eighties been teaching us that kids are going to have sex, we can’t stop ’em, it’s not our business to stop ’em. I mean, we’ve gone so far as teaching them to use condoms with bananas, or in some cases peanuts, cucumbers, but peanuts, too. You have to give them all life possibilities out there. And we had parents out on Long Island who are inviting their kids to have their boyfriend or girlfriend spend the night at the house because it would be cleaner and safer than if they were conjugating in the back seat of the family sedan. They went so far as to say we might even put a pack of cigarettes on the nightstand so that you can have a smoke after you have sex. Now I realize that that’s sex among teenagers, but the public education sex ed. program does not say that it’s wrong. You start talking abstinence to them, and they go nuts. Yeah, easy for you to say. We can’t stop these kids, so we gave ’em condoms to encourage the risky behavior. Now, the liberals also tell us that sex and gender issues are just lifestyles, not choices. Maybe choices in the case of sex changes like the chopadickoffame and the adadictomy, but these are just lifestyle things, gender and so forth, we’re not to condemn. Any two people can love each other, any four people can love each other. You can define your family however you want, including your animal or animals. This we have been taught by the tolerant left among us. Kids can have sex, too. Not with somebody just in their age-group, alternative lifestyles, but not if the person is sexually active but younger, apparently. So we find here that there are limits. The New York Times had an editorial on Sunday that just totally misses the point, but, boy, is it expressive and illustrative.First off from Reuters, dateline Dubai. “An Iraqi militant group led by al Qaeda vowed a war against the ‘worshippers of the cross’ in response to a recent speech by Pope Benedict on Islam that sparked anger across the Muslim world. The statement was made in an Internet statement by the Mujahideen Shura Council, an umbrella group led by Iraq’s branch of Al-Qaeda, said, ‘We tell the worshipper of the cross (the Pope) that you and the West will be defeated, as is the case in Iraq, Afghanistan, Chechnya… We shall break the cross and spill the wine. … God will (help) Muslims to conquer Rome. … God enable us to slit their throats, and make their money and descendants the bounty of the mujahideen.” Yeah, this is a peaceful religion, there’s no question about it. (story) “The so-called ‘living-wage’ ordinance that would have required mega-retailers here to pay their workers higher wages was successfully turned back Wednesday as supporters on the City Council could not muster enough votes to override Mayor Richard Daley’s veto. Daley, who vetoed the ordinance this week saying it would cost the city jobs and hurt people who need those jobs the most, was able to convince enough aldermen who voted in favor of the ordinance in July to change their votes. When I saw all of the hesitation and all the rules and all the regulations that prevented us from taking out Bin Laden or other terrorists, my blood boiled, and now there’s this story in the New York Post today. Taliban — and there’s a picture of it. “Taliban terror leaders who had gathered for a funeral – and were secretly being watched by an eye-in-the-sky American drone – dodged assassination because U.S. rules of engagement bar attacks in cemeteries, according to a shocking report. “U.S. intelligence officers in Afghanistan are still fuming about the recent lost opportunity for an easy kill of Taliban honchos packed in tight formation for the burial…” NBC had the pictures. It looked like there might have been a hundred and ninety of them there! “The unmanned airplane, circling undetected high overhead, fed a continuous satellite feed of the juicy target to officers on the ground. ‘We were so excited. I came rushing in with the picture,’ one U.S. Army officer told NBC. But that excitement quickly turned to gut-wrenching frustration because the rules of engagement on the ground in Afghanistan blocked the U.S. from mounting a missile or bomb strike in a cemetery, according to the report. RUSH: Well, in the trade paper Variety, the movie and television industry newspaper, the possibility has been posed that Disney will totally scrap the movie, The Path to 9/11, that Iger is not happy with it, and just may broom the whole thing. I don’t know if that will happen, but I’ll tell you what has happened here is so eye-opening and illustrative that I wish it were self-explanatory to a lot of people, but sadly it probably isn’t. What happened yesterday is that the Senate Democrats, a bunch of the leadership in the Senate, sent Robert Iger, the CEO of Disney, a threatening letter. He said, “By the way, they talk about this Great Recession like it fell out of the sky. Like, ‘Oh, my goodness!’ Like, ‘Where did it come from?'” and he looked over at Ryan and said, “It came from this man voting to put two wars on a credit card at same time, put a prescription drug plan on a credit card, and a trillion-dollar tax cut for the very wealthy! CNN’s Anderson Cooper 180, with hardly any audience, which is why we’re going to play this bite for you, spoke with the international correspondent at CNN, Michael Ware. Cooper said, ‘Everybody seems to admit, look, there’s no military solution, and yet politically there’s hardly any civilians on the ground in a lot of these areas, and the Afghan government is riddled with corruption. We’re trying to bolster in these areas a government which has not represented its people.’WARE: We’re not at the point where we could lose this war. This Taliban will continue to fight as long as US troops or foreign troops want to be there. So the whole idea is to put enough military pressure on the Taliban war machine to parlay that pressure at the negotiating table or to bring a political solution. We got heroes on the battlefield giving their last full measure of devotion to this country and you’re voting ‘present.’ All because he doesn’t want to upset the applecart, the precious balance in Congress on his health care bill — well, on a health care bill because of the radical left. And now The Politico is fascinated with who leaked this news that Obama’s not gonna come up with the troops that the general wants, who leaked that the general wants the troops.
